Issue 4: The Trickster's Line of Sight

Palutena's Temple, Skyworld.

"So your name is Peter?" Pit casually asked.

"Not now, Little Wings." Spider-Man retorted in annoyance.

After defeating Hewdraw and forcing New Goblin to retreat, the Goddess Avengers Alliance returned to base to discuss new revelations and mysteries. Specifically in regards to the strange blue rune stone that was used to empower Hewdraw. It's now sealed within a magical bubble for research, with the heroes surrounding and staring at it in a conference room.

Spider-Man sighs to himself, dismay over the fact that New Goblin knows of his secret identity. And because of the mystery villain, so too Pit and Palutena. He takes off his mask as there is no more point in hiding his face from his new friends, with the smiling Palutena complimenting it, "Why hide that handsome face from us for so long?"

"I have people back home that I need to protect. The mask helps me do that." Peter answered, shyly rubbing the back of his head from her compliment.

"I don't really get it, but whatever. Mask or no mask, we all need people who have our back and really get us…even the weird parts. Especially the weird parts." Pit smiled, cheering up the teenaged superhero.

Peter smiles back, "I understand. Thanks. But let's get back on topic. You guys found this stone from Hewdraw?"

BGM-Mega Man X8 OST- Demo - Deepening Mystery

"Yeah. It's not like the ISO-8 that powered up Gaol, and it's definitely not an Exo Stone. This is something new and extraordinarily powerful." Sonic answered while glancing at the rune stone.

"You're the expert when it comes to using magic stones." Peter quipped, "If you say this is powerful, then it must be. The Underworld Army were not holding back when they invaded Skyworld with this in their hands."

"But what is it? I never seen anything like it before." Pit stared curiously at the rune stone.

"That is because it is NOT of this dimension." Palutena proclaimed as she clarifies to the team, "This is a Norn Stone, one of many enchanted gems belonging to Karnilla the Norn Queen of the Asgardian realm."

"Asgard?! From my universe?" Spidey reacted in shock at this revelation.

"What exactly are Norn Stones?" Weiss asked for further clarification from the goddess.

"They have the power to satisfy the desires of its user. But this stone is different from what I researched…" Palutena looks sternly at their Norn Stone, "It appears to have been mutated by ISO-8 that imbues its wielder with the sacred magic of the Nine Realms. Their effects vary depending on the user and the stone. This 'Norn Stone of Energy' in particular would most benefit Weiss because of her natural affinity for elemental attacks."

"That's nice to know." Weiss snarked.

"Simply put, these Super Norn Stones apotheosize its wielder to one akin to an Asgardian God." Palutena summarized, much to the surprise of her mortal friends.

"What?! The power of a God?!" Sonic reacted.

"A-A-And just HOW many Norn Stones did the Underworld steal?" Pit asked very nervously.

"At least enough for their commanders I'd imagine." Palutena answered.

"You mentioned New Goblin had god power. Is it because of a Norn Stone?" Spidey asked her.

"No. His source is different. Someone made him the personification of their own magic power. It's not Medusa's, I would've recognized it immediately. His power is linked to another god from another realm…" Palutena replied.

"This must be the reason why Medusa raided Oscorp for their ISO-8 supply. Combining their power with the Norn Stones, she can create an unstoppable army of divine soldiers to conquer both worlds." Lucina deduced the dark goddess's master plan, "What I fail to understand is how she stole the Norn Stones from Asgard. We've met the All-Father and his people and have experience against their astonishing power. Even Medusa would not have survived if she simply invaded."

Palutena remarks solemnly, "You're right. Between the two universes, Asgard is the pinnacle of power. Our discussion further supports my theory that Medusa has a spy in Asgard. A secret partner working from the shadows and both having plans to conquer the two universes. Question is: Who?" She asked her friends, who all don't have an answer, "I'll continue investigating on my own. For now, get some sleep. I'll contact you later for the next mission."

"Roger that! Good night, Lady Palutena." Pit said while leaving alongside his mortal friends.

BGM-Dragon Ball Xenoverse OST- Cutscene: "Theme of Towa"

Left alone in the quiet conference room, Palutena sits down to better deduce the identity of Medusa's secret partner. She sits in a pondering position, musing to herself, "The war between us is becoming more dangerous for realms beyond our own. It's also bringing back a lot of memories…Could it be an Asgardian was behind Medusa's resurrection? It's definitely not Thor. What of the other one…? His reputation has become as notorious as Medusa's…and the magic I sensed from New Goblin was similar to his own…" In sadden denial of her realization, the frowning Palutena shakes her head, "No…It can't be…"

Meanwhile in the Underworld…

There is a man overlooking the hellish landscape. More than man, he is a God that is neither of the Underworld nor Skyworld. Instead, he is of Asgard from Spider-Man's universe, wearing golden armor with Asgardian pauldrons that is completed with a horned helmet and a green cape. This Mischievous God wields a scepter, but he doesn't need its magic to sense that the Goddess of Light has just deduced his presence. "Heh heh heh…" He just chuckled with the ominous tone that spells doom coming soon for the Goddess Avengers Alliance.

Back at Skyworld…

"…And you are absolutely sure it's not Norman in a new disguise?" interrogated Weiss, with her and Peter amidst nightly stroll through Skyworld while arguing about New Goblin's true identity.

"Yes, I checked in with Fury! Norman's still behind bars! This new guy sounds younger and looks to be a college student, so he's also not Roderick Kingsley or any other wannabe Goblin I know!" Peter retorted.

"What about Harry Osborn? Only an Osborn is crazy enough to rob his own company." Weiss suggested, thinking the son of Norman Osborn is this New Goblin.

Peter halts his stroll at the mere mention of his best friend. He doesn't want to look at Weiss, he just looks away with a face full of guilt and sorrow, and with a sombering mouth that just says, "…I told you; Harry died a long time ago. Sacrificed himself to save my useless butt…Besides, it can't be him. Palutena said this New Goblin comes from neither our dimensions."

"That still could mean…" Weiss pauses, realizing she's upsetting her friend with her outrageous accusations. She frowns sadly, "No, you're right, it's impossible. I'm sorry for reopening old wounds."

BGM-BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger OST-Stardust Memory

"It's okay. You're just concerned and I'm grateful." Peter responded solemnly upon facing his friend again, "Whoever and wherever this Goblin came from, it's clear that he has it out for me and thinks working with gods will help him kill me. He knows my secret identity. I need to stop him before more innocent people get hurt. Or worse…I lose another friend to a Goblin."

"It WON'T come to that. As long as we stick together." Weiss assured him with an absolute confident demeanor.

The gloomy Peter shrugs as he goes to stand behind a railing to stare into space, "I wonder about that…Yang would still have an arm if she didn't love me. My friendship with Harry turned him into the second Green Goblin and get killed by his own father…I'm scared from thinking of you walking down a similar path because of me. Your family is as unstable as the Osborns."

Weiss frowns reminiscently, "I wouldn't go that far…but I'd be lying if I said we didn't share many problems. When I was ten, my dad finally admitted to my mom that the only reason he married her was for the family name." She sighs, "It was actually on my birthday. He missed the big dinner, she got mad, he finally snapped. I think she already knew. Looking back, I think I knew too. But hearing him say it finally pushed her over the edge." She then stands beside Peter behind the railing as she continues her sad tale, "First it was separate lunches and dinners, opposite balconies at my recitals, a glass of wine here, a glass of wine there. Then, it was no dinners, no recitals, a bottle of wine here and... well, you get the idea."

"I'm really sorry." Peter apologized.

"You're right though. I'm a lot like Harry. Our fathers cared for no one but themselves and the company reputation. The two of us would lose our minds if something were to happen to the family." Weiss admitted before telling this to his face, "But I would never blame my best friend for that."

"Harry definitely did." Peter remarked.

"And you just said he sacrificed himself to save you. He saw you as your best friend right to the bitter end." Weiss retorted, "Peter…You and Ruby, and all of our friends in the Dimensional Avengers are more like family to me than my brother or even my own father. You keep me sane despite driving me insane." She joked a bit, which elicit a small chuckle from him, "I would never hate you for anything. I would do anything for you guys."

Weiss smiles, which cheers up Peter to say, "Still, I would love for you to work things out with your folks. The Osborns never had the chance."

"Just don't lose faith, right? As long as my friends have my back." Weiss smiled promisingly, paraphrasing his advice to her from during the Devil's Breath incident at Mantle. Peter smiles, remembering that as he remembers they also shared a passionate hug, which they were quick to replicate before going to bed.

"Here we go!" Sonic smirked eagerly.

BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST- The Reaper's Line of Sight

After a good night's sleep, the Goddess Avengers Alliance fly out of the divine door to begin their newest mission. "So, what's our mission this time?" Pit asked the godly mission control.

'You remember Reapers, don't you? From the Underworld?' Palutena questioned him.

A disgruntled Pit grunts, "Not those guys!", as his mind recalls what Reapers looked in 8-bit, "They're always freaking out and calling in their little Reapettes. Ugh, I'm getting worked up just thinking about it!"

"Pit, allow Lady Palutena to continue. What is important about the Reapers?" Lucina politely told him to shut up while riding her Sky-Cycle through the dreary skies.

"Sorry, sorry, go on." Pit apologized.

'They have a fortress near the entrance to the Underworld in Reaper Valley.' Palutena informed them.

"Heh. Which is where? Reaper Boulevard?" Pit quipped, "But seriously, thank goodness we don't have to go there, right?"

Palutena says nothing for a moment. A good time for Iron Spider Spider-Man to casually quip, "That silence means we have to go there, doesn't it? Why do you want us to go to a place crawling with grim reapers?"

'I'm trying to find another of Medusa's commanders, Pandora.' Palutena proclaimed.

"The one with the evil box?" Sonic remarked.

"More like the goddess of disaster and calamity!" Pit retorted, just as a hologram of the 8-bit Pandora is projected to the team to see and note for future reference.

"This world's mythology is all messed up." Sonic quipped.

'Yes, and she's currently residing in the Labyrinth of Deceit…However, some force in the Reaper fortress is obscuring the labyrinth's location. I can't find it, not even with my all-seeing Eye of Palutena.' Palutena frowned.

"Wait, if you have an all-seeing eye, why can't you see Pandora's location?" Lucina questioned.

'Because of my slightly botched laser eye surgery.' Palutena quipped, much to the princess and angel's shared confusion.

"Are you messing with us again?" Weiss retorted dryly with annoyance.

'Maybe.' Palutena quipped, 'Regardless, your job for now is to infiltrate the Reaper fortress!'

"Will we also find something on Medusa's secret partner?" Spidey asked.

'Possibly. Keep a lookout for anything not of this world!' Palutena ordered.

"Roger that!" Spidey acknowledged.

Many Underworld monsters are then spotted trying to stop the heroes from reaching the Reaper fortress. This time, three of the heroes are switching tactics to surprise then overwhelm hordes with incredible attacks. Pit equips himself with the rifle-like Insight Staff, firing shots that gain great power over distances. Spider-Man morphs an arm to an energy cannon, briefly charging it to unleash a homing swarm of powerful repulsor shots. Then there's Sonic with his hover shoes, flying at speeds so high and explosive he blows away enemies with a turbulence, clearing their path until they spot suspicious red dots in the distance.

"What are those red lights?" Sonic questioned.

'Are they…' As a worried Palutena talks, numerous red lasers suddenly shoot out from those dots, '…Repear eyes?!'

"Don't think we should go this way!" Sonic retorted, sharing her worry while the team narrowly dodge the red lasers.

'We need to find you a safe route.' said Palutena, as the heroes retreat until a ravine comes into view, 'Down there is your only option!' She then sends them into the ravine where they defeat more monsters in their way, 'This ravine should take you to the Reaper fortress. But it's tight, so be careful. If you get stuck, I won't have time to get you out.'

"Man, things are really heating up! Time to bust through here! Full speed ahead!" Pit proclaimed eagerly.

'Excellent idea, Pit. Naturally, I had the same thought.' Palutena responded.

"Sure you did, but we appreciate any help you can give us." Spidey snarked, which annoys the grunting goddess.

As the Avengers maneuvers through the dangerous ravine, a large gust of wind is spotted before them. 'Is that a windstorm up ahead?! Hang on!' Palutena sends them through the windstorm, which wounds the heroes a bit.

"Ow!" Spidey exclaimed.

'Don't be such a baby. It's only wind. I mean, at least it's not poison or acid wind. Then you'd be in real trouble.' Palutena teased.

"Good thing I'm wearing armor that can withstand all that plus a god grudge." Spidey snarked.

'I can prove that wrong right now if you want.' Palutena snarked back.

"Save it for after we save the world, Lady Lights." Spidey retorted with another snarky comment.

"It looks like we're heading into a cave. Be careful!" Lucina warned the team, wanting her snarky allies to refocus on the mission at hand.

The heroes pass through the cave littered with numerous traps and obstacles like clashing stone surfaces, with Lucina focusing most of her attention returning monsters back to the Underworld with homing missiles. "Sense many enemies ahead!" Spidey informed the team.

"I'll take care of 'em!" Weiss spotted, then eradicates the incoming horde with a highly-explosive smart bomb.

Quickly after, the heroes abruptly stop at a wall in this maze-like area. 'This looks like a dead end. There must be a way out…Hmm…' said Palutena while searching for another route for them to traverse.

"D.A.N., have us an exit?" Spidey accessed, using his tech to help.

'Who?' The curious Palutena asked him about it.

"A what." Spidey corrected her, "Data Analysis Network. It's our multiversal satellite."

"You guys even own a freakin' satellite?! MAN I wish I'm an Avenger!" Pit reacted with jealous amazement.

'Glad DAN sounds less talkative than the All-Talking Spider-Man.' Palutena teased with an unseen smile.

"Least it's more all-seeing than the All-Seeing Palutena." Spidey snarked with a hidden smirk.

"You two are going to keep snarking at each other this whole adventure, are you?" Weiss retorted dryly at the annoying way spider and goddess are developing their bond.

"Yes!"

'Yes!'

"Ugh! Just get us out of here!" Weiss grunted with irritation.

With that, the heroes are sent through another cave where more Underworld Troops pester them as quickly as they are disposed of. "The Underworld forces really stepped up their game!" Pit noted.

'I doubt those underlings managed it on their own. It's a sure sign that Medusa is back in power.' Palutena proclaimed.

"And with ISO-8, New Goblin, and now these Norn Stones, she's getting ready for a full-scale dimensional takeover. Unless we find her benefactor and take 'em out fast!" Sonic retorted.

After dispatching the remaining demons in their path, the cave exit is finally coming into view. "There's the exit!" Spidey spotted.

'You're almost there! 3... 2... 1... Contact!' Palutena announced as swiftly as her heroes arrive at the massive Reaper Fortress made completely out of rock and bone that was built within this deep, foggy ravine.

All is quiet and the entrance is in their sights. But then Peter's Spider-Sense blares like crazy, prompting him to shout, "DODGE!", just a swift second before the startled team are evading lasers shooting at them from all frantic directions.

"Whoooaaa! It's hot hot HOT here!" Pit screamed in a dodgy panic.

"There's no chance of getting in from above. We'll have to break through the front." Spidey suggested.

"Not that suicidal plan again!" retorted Weiss with a fright, recalling how they infiltrated the Master Sanctorum during the Spider-Island incident.

"At least it's not in space! "Sonic quipped.

As the goddess sends them toward the front gate into the fortress, Pits yells, "Here we goooooo!", with much vigorous might while crashing headfirst into their land battles.

Reaper Fortress.

BGM-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 OST-Signs of Life

'Pit! Avengers! Are you all right?' The concerned Palutena asked, with her heroes having arrived inside the fortress but collapsed on the ground.

As the heroes get to their feet, Pit weakly quips, "Never…better…", before he's helped up by the brotherly Spider-Man, "Thanks."

"You're welcome." Spidey replied, taking off his armor before rallying his team, "Let's get moving. You said the force obscuring Pandora is somewhere here?"

'Yes. Deep within the fortress.' Palutena informed.

"Alright. We'll go check it out." Spidey declared solemnly.

Not long after the Avengers proceeded to a doorway to the right, Spidey senses a nearby enemy that has him order his team to, "Take cover!", and hide in the shadows. They peek out of their corner to spot a lone cartoonish-like grim reaper patrolling the corridor, with Spidey whispering to the goddess, "Is that one of the Reapers you talked about?"

'Yes. Reapers may look all evil and crazy, but there's a good reason for that. They ARE evil and crazy. But here's a little tip: they won't bother you if you stay out of their sight.' Palutena advised.

"So use stealth tactics against them." Lucina suggested, sharing a silent nod with Sonic and Spidey as they get ready to surprise the Reaper with a silent takedown.

The Reaper continues walking along the corridor minding its own business, looking for any excuse to let out a piercing scream and reap intruders of their souls with its giant scythe. In a blue blur, its scythe was stolen without its notice. By the time it did, it looks around for it thinking it dropped it, until it was web-yanked to an executing slash from Lucina.

"Let's keep moving. Bound to be more of 'em." said Sonic, still holding onto the Reaper scythe.

Cautiously, the heroes venture into a new chamber as they keep a lookout for more Reapers. So far they haven't run into any beyond the one and the room is quiet. Too quiet. They know something is amiss. Peter's Spider-Senses agree as a mysterious presence is sensed from the shadows that surround them. It was at that moment they make their presence known with plasma shots that were swiftly blocked by Spidey's web shield defending his friends.

"Who's there?!" Pit shouted, threatening to shoot with his staff.

From the darkness, they appear. An otherworldly horde of dark humanoid creatures wearing silverish-looking armor with creepy black-eyed masks that hides their mystery. "Shouldn't be snooping around where you don't belong." One of the Mystery Soldiers taunted while his forces confront the heroes.

"More Underworld Troops?" Spidey asked his angel friend.

"Dunno. They usually never talk, or look this creepy." Pit quipped, having never met these masked demons before.

"So you're the humans that's been interfering with our alliance. Go back to schools, kids. You're WAY out of your league." The Mystery Soldier continues throwing taunts that get on their nerves.

"Don't underestimate us! Who are you?!" Pit demanded.

BGM-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 OST-Bring on the Bad Guys

"We are the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim! And soon all the Nine Realms, and this world, will belong to US!" proclaimed by the newly-revealed Dark Elf Soldier, with his horde of Dark Elves ready to kill the heroic intruders.

With some possessing otherworldly magic and others equipped with advanced weaponry that gives Asgardians trouble, the Dark Elves are quick to prove themselves a surprising challenge for the heroes as each of them question their strange appearance. "Where are these guys from again?" Sonic asked while narrowly evading the enemy's plasma energy rifles.

'Svartalfheim! One of the Nine Asgardian Realms! Ruled by Malekith the Accursed! I can't believe this…' Palutena clarified, much to her own shock from finding Dark Elves in her dimension.

"So is this Malekith Medusa's partner?!" Weiss asked amidst parrying the bladed gauntlets of a Dark Elf.

'No. I told you. Another God's at play, and last I checked Malekith isn't a god! Yet he's not the one leading his people in this alliance.' Palutena remarked.

"Then who IS Medusa's partner?!" Pit retorted while shooting a Dark Elf's shield in vain.

"Remain focus on the fight for now! I am certain we are closing in on the truth!" Lucina ordered whilst overpowering Dark Elf swordsmen with her superior royal swordplay.

"Why do I get the feeling it's who I think it is?" joked Spidey, having a good guess who the dimensional god might be. For now, he's more focused in defeating the Dark Elves, starting by webbing and web-striking down a Dark Elf before countering another with a knockout punch, then web-throws a third goon at the nearest horde to give Pit more room to shoot and beat. Sonic puts the Reaper scythe he acquired to good use, taking a page from Ruby's handbook by spinning his scythe in a circle to pull in then smash enemies back with a powerful strike before throwing away the weapon to knockout more goons.

"Glacial Torrent!" Weiss exclaimed, covering the ground where the remaining Dark Elves stand in ice, freezing them for a chilling defeat by a final slashing combo from Lucina.

"Well that was a neat little surprise." Pit joked upon them winning over the Dark Elves, "Shall we keep moving?"

"You know it." Spidey quipped.

BGM-Marvel Future Revolution OST- Revolution Starts Here (Battle Theme)

With the Dark Elves dealt with for now, the heroes continue their dangerous trek through the Reaper Fortress. They find themselves outside where Underworld monsters that are easy to defeat as a team await, yet still no Reaper among them. "Considering this is the Reaper fortress, there really aren't very many Reapers." Pit noticed.

'There must be a huge soul harvest going on somewhere.' Palutena believed.

"What do you mean? Pit asked.

'Reapers are soul carriers. When a being dies, they take its soul to the Underworld. The humans probably started another war, which means a lot more souls to deal with.' Palutena explained to her friends.

"So they're like the Valkyries of Asgard, 'cept it's hard to tell if they're women." Spidey quipped.

"Why are they always fighting? The humans, I mean. It's so sad and pointless." Pit asked a very thoughtful question that is hard to answer.

Lucina solemnly responds, "That is difficult to answer. We have reasons to fight, whether it's for revenge, conquest, or just to destroy. Even if our intentions are noble, we still battle those that disagree with our cause. It is a never-ending cycle."

'Us gods fight too. And when we do, humans are always caught in the middle.' Palutena added.

"So, this war against the Underworld Army is causing the Reapers to work overtime." Pit commented, starting to understand what his friends are talking about.

'I'M the one who should be working overtime.' Palutena argued sadly, 'Then there'd be less soul harvesting... Humans get frustrated, even destructive, when we gods don't provide for their welfare.'

"Don't be ridiculous! Everyone loves the goddess of light! You know that!" Pit refuted.

"Pit's right. Don't be so hard on yourself. You have us to rely on to make things easier. Our reasons are different, but we're all fighting to achieve the same dream." Spidey said wisely.

'What ARE your reasons to fight? Each of you?' The curious Palutena asked the Avengers.

"The answer's usually simple. For me, I fight for freedom." Sonic smiled.

"For honor." Weiss answered.

"For the future." Lucina replied next.

"For peace." Spider-Man proclaimed, "It won't be easy. Stopping the endless fight is never easy. That's why we must believe in it and keep fighting for that dream to be realized. Never give up! That's the secret!"

It is not often that human wisdom surprises a goddess, nor is as touching to her heart. Palutena has underestimated the Dimensional Avengers again, and because of this develops more respect for them as she gratefully smiles, 'I see…I'll keep that in mind. Thank you, everyone. I will do my best. Now, then…Let's proceed.'

"With pleasure!" Spidey declared vigorously.

BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST-Reaper Fortress

With a strengthened resolve, the heroes press forward through the fortress. Didn't take long until they hop onto a divine rail that they have fun grinding on throughout the base. "Woohoho! This world has grind rails too!" Sonic smiled.

"It beats walking." Lucina grinned before looking ahead at their destination, which is a courtyard guarded by Underworld Forces and Dark Elves, "It's taking us right into that courtyard of enemies."

"Let's knock out all but one Dark Elf and get him to talk about Medusa's benefactor!" Weiss ordered.

Spectacularly flipping off the grind rail just as they reach the courtyard, Spidey shouts, "Web Bomb!", and launches a grenade that instantly webs all enemies in range, making it easier for his allies to take them down.

"These humans are stronger than they look!" said a Dark Elf Sorcerer firing a mystic bolt at Weiss, who impressively counters the attack with a glyph dash strike that defeats the mystic. One remaining Dark Elf shoots her back from her blindspot until he was disarmed of his rifle by Pit, which leads to Sonic kicking the mook to a wall, where Spidey webs him, right before Lucina threatens to cut his head off.

"Talk! How did the Dark Elves and Underworld Army of two worlds form a pact?" Lucina interrogated threateningly.

"Better answer her unless you prefer an arrow to the face." Pit quipped, readying his bow.

Left with no choice, the frustrated Dark Elf grunts, "You can thank the Trickster for convincing us to form a pact with him first before Medusa. Says he has a plan that's gonna shake the heavens."

"Dude has a name?" Sonic asked.

"Ask him yourself. He lies in the deepest chamber of this fortress, where you will never escape with your lives." The Dark Elf answered mockingly.

"Thanks for the heads up." Spidey joked before webbing his mouth shut. "Trickster, huh. Can't say I'm surprised that he's behind this." He deduced the true identity of Medusa's secret partner.

"You talkin' about the God of Horned Helmets that helped us beat Goblin a while back?" Sonic asked for some clarification.

"He did that just to save his own skin." Spidey responded.

"Wait, who are we talking about?" Pit reacted with confusion.

"You'll find out, unless he escapes. Let's hurry and make sure he sticks around for a Q&A beatdown." Spidey quipped.

'So it is him…' Palutena muttered sadly.

"You say something?" Spidey retorted.

'Nothing! Continue your mission!' Palutena lied, hiding the fact that she too knows this Trickster God, and on a personal level.

Continuing with their mission, the heroes proceed through the fortress and enter a room where they are surprised to be encountering a humanoid eggplant that knows magic. "Not this guy!" Pit reacted in horror from the mere sight of one of his most troublesome enemies.

"Is that an…Eggplant Wizard?" Weiss questioned the living ridiculousness she's now fighting.

"But I don't want to be an eggplant again!" Pit complained.

'Way back when, you had to visit a nurse to get fixed up, remember?' Palutena remarked.

"I was there so much, they named the place after me: hosPITal. Get it?" Pit joked.

Palutena didn't find his joke. And some of the Avengers just rolled their eyes while fighting fiercely against the Eggplant Wizard. "…It's funny. It's OK to laugh." Pit said, just standing in place awkwardly.

'No, it's really not.' Palutena quipped.

"So where's the nearest nurse, 'cause Lucina now is suffering from eggplantitis." quipped Sonic, glancing at Lucina humorously freaking out from being transformed into a purple eggplant with legs.

'Calm down. If you're turned into an eggplant, my powers will transform you back. After a while.' Palutena assured, just as her divine power cures Lucina of her fruit curse.

"Thank you, Lady Palutena." The smiling Lucina sighed in relief, just as her friends defeat the Eggplant Wizard.

Not long after surviving through a room with swinging blades, the dimensional defenders make it into a room finally patrolled by more Reapers. 'There are Reapers creeping around in there. They'll summon Reapettes if they see you, so be careful.' Palutena advised them.

"Too late for that. Thank you, Pit." Weiss snarked, glancing at the angel that was unlucky enough to be caught by a screaming Reaper that turned around just a humorous second before suffering a silent takedown.

After saving Pit from tiny Reapettes that love to ram into enemies and defeating all the Reapers, the heroes enter another room full of enemies that were easily beaten until another rail appears for them to grind. "Nice, another grind rail." Pit said.

'This one works a bit differently. As you're riding it, shoot the targets on the walls. This will extend the rail to your destination.' Palutena suggested, with Pit and Weiss complying by shooting at the wall targets.

"By destination you mean straight to the boss?" Spidey quipped.

'Unfortunately, that's not possible.' Palutena claimed.

"But-."

'Nope, not possible.'

"Aww…"

Though the grind rail didn't take them straight to the boss, it does take them to ride an elevator down to the lowest levels of the Reaper Fortress where they near their objective. That and a few hot springs. "Well, well. Looks like this place has some hot springs." Sonic smirked at a sparkling pool.

"Woo hoo! I could use a little R and R right about now! You coming?" Pit happily smiled from being reunited with a hot spring.

"Nah, I'm good. Water and I don't mix well, y'know." Sonic quipped, taking a breather from the action to watch Pit enjoy his break in the hot spring.

"There's something strange about this hot spring…" The disturbed Lucina looks at a purple hot spring in another room.

"Huh?" Spidey stands looking curious beside her.

"The steam seems a little…evil." Lucina noted.

"The Dark Elves are enjoying it." Spidey quipped, gesturing at Dark Elves minding their own relaxing business in the evil hot spring. "Let's not disturb them." He suggested to the princess as they walk away.

'You're closing in on the force that's obscuring Pandora's location. Feels like Medusa's Partner is also waiting for you.' warned Palutena, after the heroes head down a hall with guillotines.

"Yeah, we figured the evil lighting wasn't just for show." Pit joked about the imposing entrance to the boss chamber.

"Be ready for mischief." Spidey warned the team before fearlessly entering the chamber.

In the Boss Chamber.

The arena in here is massive and has staircases that surround the center. The Goddess Avengers Alliance emerge from one side of the chamber, walking forward cautiously and keeping an eye out for any suspicious individuals that have been plotting against them in the shadows. "Come out, come out! We know you're around and what you've been up to! No point hiding like a scaredy god anymore unless you find us that scary, which'd be embarrassing!" Spidey mocked, trying to goad their mystery enemy to reveal himself.

Suddenly, a thunderous magic shakes the entire fortress as a warning to all mortals to never insult a god. Lest they pay the consequences. Dark divine magic begins to manifest in the center of the grand arena, building up to a foreboding portal-like vortex that grows in both size and threat level until it just burst. A shockwave is then unleashed from that bursting vortex, spreading its mystical energies across the giant chamber and startling the heroes that stand brave against the threat that is as dangerous and divine as Medusa. And in some ways, even worse.

BGM-The Avengers (2012) OST- Doors Open From Both Sides

The new threat is seen kneeling at the center, smiling in a mischievous manner as he raises his head. His smile dies down as he looks deep into the eyes of Pit, the Dimensional Avengers, and unknowingly Palutena. He stands up, wielding his scepter, as Pit gathers the guts to ask, "Uh…Can you please put down the spear? We don't want things to get messy."

"Of course it does. I've come too far for anything else." The Evil God spoke with eerie calmness that disturbs the angel unlike other gods he has confronted in the past. "I am Loki of Asgard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose." The God of Mischief has finally decided to reveal himself. Loki. Prince of Lies. Genesis of Mayhem.

"Loki…? The God of Mischief? Half-Brother of Thor?" Lucina reacted in defensive shock at the presence of the legendary Asgardian villain.

"And a big pain in the ass for the Avengers since day one." Spidey quipped, right before confronting his old god enemy, "Everything is finally making sense."

"Enlighten me." Loki grinned slyly.

"You're the one who recruited New Goblin in order to gain easier access to Oscorp's ISO-8. Then fuse them with the Norn Stones you stole to create Super Norn Stones. Then use their power to create the strongest army ever to try and take over Asgard for the umpteenth time, hence alliances with Medusa and the Dark Elves. Tell me I'm right. I don't accept criticism." Spidey jokingly deduced Loki's master plan.

Ominously, Loki chuckles, "Close. But not quite right."

"Why help Medusa conquer this world? We never had problems with yours." Pit asked next.

"An ant has no problem with a boot." Loki snarked coldly.

"Is that your reason? Just want to have fun stepping on us?" Pit retorted, getting agitated by this otherworldly god.

"I come with glad tidings…" Loki walks around a bit, "Of a world made free."

"Free from what?" Pit questioned.

"Freedom." Loki answered, "Freedom is life's great lie. Once you accept that, in your heart…You will know peace."

"What you say?!" Sonic snapped, as his ideals are all about freedom.

Feeling immensely offended by Loki's twisted ideals, Sonic was going to charge at him but was immediately pulled back by Weiss who doesn't want to cause a scene just yet. "Yeah, you say peace. I kind of think you mean the other thing." Lucina grimaced at the god.

"Think of it as you wish. I have big plans and a prophecy to fulfill, and I don't want you to get in my way." Loki said vaguely.

'Just what are you talking about, Loki?!' Palutena finally chimes into the conversation, sounding unusually angry.

"Ah, I was wonder when you would speak up. Your voice sounds lovelier than ever, old friend." Loki quipped while revealing a surprise hint of their past.

"Old friend? Wait, Palutena and Loki were friends? Did you know about this?" Spidey turned to Pit.

"Nuh-uh." Pit shakes his head as this is news to him too.

"How secretive of you, Palutena. Neglected to tell your pets of our past friendship because you are ashamed of the past?" Loki taunted her.

'Why shouldn't I be after learning of all the horrible deeds you have committed?! How could you make your own family suffer?! Your own brother?!' Palutena snapped.

"They were never my family, as you were never my friend." Loki retorted calmly.

'Yet you still consider Medusa as one?!' Palutena responded, implying that Medusa was also friends with Asgard.

"Thanks to you, our bond is stronger than ever. We both desire revenge on those that have wronged us the most. Same case is said between Spider-Man and my Goblin." Loki mocked.

"What?" Spidey reacted with confusion and curiosity.

Tauntingly, Loki tells him, "I predicted your 'Dimensional Avengers' would interfere with my latest scheme, so I searched the multiverse for the strongest Goblin that I could find as my assistant. One teeming with rage and vengeance for what your kind has done to their legacy. Goblins have always been your worst enemy, Spider-Man. Because, like what Palutena did to Medusa, you are responsible for turning my Goblin into the monster that seeks your death."

"You're lying. You did something to him." Spidey snarled.

"All I did was give him a portion of my power to compete with the beast that lives inside you." Loki knows of Peter being bonded to the Great Spider-Totem, The Other, as he continues talking, "Since he failed to kill you back at town, it falls to me to finish you and your little team."

"Just you?" Pit retorted.

"More like, just him." Loki quipped, stepping aside for a single Reaper that was enjoying a relaxing stroll until it was noticed by everyone. "With a little boost from my Norn Stone of Strength." He also reveals in his hand a red rune stone possessing similarly divine energies like the Norn Stone of Energy.

BGM-One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 OST-A Deadly Battle

Loki uses his magic to fuse the Norn Stone of Strength with the Reaper. The screeching creature panics upon the sudden infusion that is multiplying its natural power to divine levels, triggering his transformation and revealing its true form as the elderly Great Reaper that has grown enormous feasting on the souls in the Reaper Fortress.

"No way!" Pit reacted in shock.

'It's gigantic!' Palutena exclaimed in surprise.

"What IS that thing?" Spidey asked with great astonishment while the rest of the team look on in horror.

"This is the Great Reaper you have been seeking, yes? His power is responsible for hiding Pandora's Labyrinth from you, and it will be MY power that will CRUSH YOU!" Loki boasted maliciously before vanishing from the fortress, leaving the Great Reaper alone to combat the dimensional heroes with all its mystical might.

"Now we know where you got your mischief from." Spidey teased the light goddess in his head.

'Not now! Focus on beating that thing before I tell you everything!' Palutena retorted with annoyance.

"I'll hold you to that!" Spidey quipped before confronting the elder giant.

The Great Reaper is the size of a titan that he uses to his advantage with big stomps that nearly crush Pit on the ground level. Weiss thinks attacking from the upper level would be safer but it's not, as one swing of his giant scythe nearly destroys her but still sends a shiver down her spine. "Up or down, fighting this thing won't be easy!" Weiss noted.

Sonic's signature speed is giving him an edge over the towering Reaper, from avoiding his stomping feet to jumping away from his swinging scythe so he could assault his head with Homing Attacks until he was repelled by his piercing, red laser vision. 'Those aren't just flirty looks coming from the Great Reaper's eyes!' Palutena warned the hedgehog.

"Lemme guess—they're death rays?!" Sonic quipped while avoiding more eye lasers.

'In a nutshell. Plus, if you get hit, it'll summon Reapettes. That Great Reaper has quite the evil eye.' Palutena punned.

"How can you make puns at a time like this?!" Pit retorted.

"I don't SEE the problem with a little levity." Sonic punned himself.

Pit exasperates, "You're killing me here!"

"The Great Reaper begs to differ!" Lucina retorted, just as she and Pit avoid being crushed again.

Spider-Man swings around the boss firing web shots that don't affect the main body at all. "Attacks on the body aren't doing any good." He said, just as the Reaper severs his webline to have him fall to a brutal punch that sends him flying to a wall. "Ow that hurts…" He grunted while dropping down and recovering, "Attacks to the head looked to have done some damage.", and glancing at the giant's toes, "And his little toes look good enough to hit too."

"Oh, yeah! Stubbing those guys hurts like crazy!" Pit supported his idea.

'But it's more effective to target the head. The head is a weak spot for many enemies…and most living things.' Palutena advised.

"Weiss and Lucina, go clip his toenails! Sonic and Pit, give him a headache! I'll have his eyes on me!" Spidey ordered the team.

"Consider it done!" Lucina acknowledged.

With a good plan to defeat the Great Reaper, all the heroes take their given positions: Weiss and Lucina ready to attack on the ground level, Sonic and Pit prepared to assault from the upper level. And there's Spider-Man about to insult the behemoth while swinging around his giant head, "Hiya, Grim! Care for a game of limbo? If I win, you become my best friend forever! I'll be perfect! I'm not as stupid and happy-go-lucky like Billy and nowhere near as cynical and cold-hearted like Mandy! I'm perfectly balanced with a side of talk since you look so miserable to say anything!" Spidey babbled.

Growlingly annoyed by his constant babble, the Great Reaper falls for their trap and focuses all of his power in trying to destroy Spider-Man. The others then go all-out, with the swordswomen unleashing a relentless beating on his toes that gets Weiss conjuring a large ice sword to impale one. At the same time, the Smash Brothers pulverize the creature's head with a high-speed unyielding attack that annoys him into nearly counterattacking until Spidey webs his eyes, "Eyes on me, big guy!" The Reaper eye-lasers through the webbing to hit the irritating webslinger, spawning Reapettes that gives him some trouble until he catches them with his webbing. "No thanks! Pay me first if you want me to babysit!" quipped Spidey, web-throwing the little reapers at his forehead, stunning him for Sonic's Spin Dash to be super effective to the point of disarming him of his scythe and cracking a light from the forehead.

'Now! Finish it!' Palutena urged the heroes.

"But…how?" Pit remarked.

'The light coming from its head. Strike there!' Palutena directed them.

"I bet you can't beat him with that." Weiss smirked at Peter, pointing him to the dropped giant scythe.

"Watch me!" Spidey retorted whilst seamlessly activating his X-Aura.

Pushing his spider-strength to its limits, Spider-Man bellows excruciating grunts and struggles a bit until he is actually holding onto the giant scythe from its bottom. "Ruby would be so jealous if she saw me with this." Spidey muttered, then confronts the weakened Great Reaper with this awesome taunt, "Time to reap what you sow, Reaper!", before hurling the scythe with all his amazing might that targets his shining forehead. The Great Reaper tries to stop it, but after reacting to his toe being stubbed by a mischievous Pit, his own giant scythe impales his forehead in a stunning brutal fashion.

"All done!" Pit declared victoriously.

'Nice work, team!' Palutena congratulated them on another successful mission.

"GWWRAAAAAAAAAWWWRRRR…" roared the Great Reaper as he isn't handling his defeat well. Light is bursting out of his head as he collapses. As he sinks into the floor, he releases the Norn Stone of Strength that was used to empower him, with the Stone itself falling into Lucina's hand.

"This will be useful in the future." Lucina smiled at their new power before pocketing it.

"You know what, guys?" Pit asked his friends while walking away from the dying Reaper.

"What's that, Pit?" Sonic remarked.

"Even though we almost died, I've really enjoyed our time together." Pit smiled.

"This adventure has had its moments." Weiss admitted, "Better savor it, now that we know Loki and Medusa are working together."

"Glad you met us when you did. Otherwise you would've been stuck with Granny Pally Lights for an eternity." Spidey joked to the angel.

'I heard that!'

"Hehehehe…"

'Now let's go find Pandora! After I tell you my history with Asgard.' Palutena promised before whisking her heroes away with her teleporting light.

KFX Here: Yup. In this remake, Palutena was friends with Thor and Loki. How is that possible? Why did they stop hanging out? What is this prophecy Loki mentioned? Well the prophecy thing is a new plot point that will span across this whole story and involves Asgard and Skyworld. As for the other questions, they will be answered pretty soon. And for those wanting a Sonic Frontiers adaptation, it won't happen for a long time. I want to wait until all the DLC is released, so you'll have to wait at least another year.
