Won't be long 'til the Underworld has a taste of its own medicine!

Issue 8: Soaring Galactic Thief Ship

Spider-Man's Laboratory, Skyworld.

During his stay in Skyworld, Spider-Man has set up his own workshop to build and upgrade tech for his fellow heroes. And they're going to need the best equipment ever as the final battle with the Dark Gods, Medusa and Loki, approaches. The unmasked webhead has been spending his free time experimenting methods to fuse weapons. One experiment had him fusing an Upperdash Arm with a Babel Club, resulting in a flash of light that creates a Blade somehow forged from the same cursed material as Dark Lord Gaol's armor. Peter gives this new weapon a weird look that expresses, "Huh.", as he casually didn't expect merging a Club with an Arm would create a Blade.

Palutena is also in the lab with him, having developed a keen interest in his otherworldly technology as evident by her being fascinated by his Iron Spider Armor on display for its upgrades. "…And what element powers the Arc Reactor?" She asked him.

"It's a new element. Experimental. Tony, Tails, and I synthesized it based on our Exo Stone research. It generates power similar to them. A limitless source of clean energy that we want to share with the entire world one day once we patent it as something other than Badassium. Tony ran into a lot of legal issues with that one." Peter answered amidst fusing more weapons.

"I pray your research is a success. This is remarkable." Palutena claimed.

"For mere mortals?" Peter added teasingly, knowing the goddess loves to downplay mortal achievement.

"No, no, I'm serious! This is amazing craftsmanship that would impress Lord Dyntos!" Palutena admitted with a genuine smile.

"Thank you."

From one conversation to another, the playful Palutena sits beside her spider-student and observes his science while asking, "Sooo how's Thor these days?"

"Fine. Last I heard, he's busy with a mission in deep space. Guess we can't rely on him for backup against Loki if we need it." Peter replied.

"He's on an Avengers mission, right? That's hard to believe. Him being an Avenger, I mean. How did he become an Avenger?" Palutena asked curiously.

"Happened a long time ago. His dad stripped him of his powers and banished him to Earth to learn humility after his arrogance got really annoying." answered Peter, recalling the God of Thunder's backstory to his old friend.

"Banishment? Odin risked losing his son forever? I see the All-Jerk is as cruel as ever!" Palutena scowled, with growing resentment for the Allfather.

"Didn't YOU do the same thing to Medusa after turning her ugly?" Peter called her out on her hypocrisy.

"She was evil on top of being arrogant!" Palutena immediately defended her actions.

Shrugging her off, Peter says, "She was also your childhood friend, but whatever. At least everything worked out for Thor. Not only he learned humility but also teamwork. Helped formed the Avengers and has been fighting crime and protecting both Earth and Asgard for years. He even dates a nurse."

Palutena's eyes widen in great surprise upon hearing, "A nurse?! Who?!"

"Someone named Jane Foster."

"A human?!"

"Yeah."

"Why would he do that?!"

"What, you jealous or something?"

Blushing with embarrassment and trying to hide her own romantic feelings for her childhood friend, the expressive Palutena claims, "N-No! No no no no! No! I'm not jealous! I'm just…surprised to hear an immortal dating a mortal! That's never been heard of before! Thought he'd be dating Sif…"

"Is it against the rules for mortals and gods to love each other?" Peter questioned with a curious look at the goddess.

"More of an unspoken rule. Mortals don't live forever. Sentiment is nice, but too much of it will impede your duty protecting the world." Palutena claimed arrogantly.

"That's just stupid." Peter argued against with a calm yet stern expression, "I know other gods that LOVE hanging out with humans. I'm friends with a dragon demigod dating my brother, and I know an Olympian working at a homeless shelter alongside my aunt. Heroes like me and Thor, we are strengthened by sentiment. We don't fight to kill enemies. We fight to protect our loved ones. That is why it cuts so deeply when we fail."

"Everyone has their responsibilities, but Thor is special. He is the Prince of Asgard that is destined to rule it as King. He will have all Nine Realms to protect, not just Earth. A task that massive requires your every attention. Why do you think I have Pit do all the heavy lifting? As the Queen of Skyworld, I MUST be here to defend my realms." Palutena refuted calmly.

"Thor doesn't believe that. There are better ways to protect our homes. That's why he wants nothing to do with the throne." Peter responded serenely.

"Thor would reject his birthright?" Palutena retorted in amazed shock.

"That's what he always told me." Peter answered, speaking wisely to the goddess, "On my world, he knows he can make a difference. Everything matters on Earth. There's always fighting in Asgard. A never-ending cycle of war that's become meaningless to him. Not so different from this war between Skyworld and the Underworld. Thor will still be there for Asgard and all the realms and will fight for them to his last breath, but he can't do it from a throne. Brutality, sacrifice, it changes you. He would rather be a good man than a great king."

"Live as a human than rule as a god…" Palutena takes a silent note of Thor's philosophy. She never would have imagined her once-proud friend would become so humble that he would go as far as to renounce his destiny just to be a hero. With a somber frown, she asks her mortal friend, "Do you think Thor has been doing a good job defending humanity?"

"More than that. He's been awesome! Everyone loves Thor! I'm honored to have someone like him as a friend!" Peter retorted honestly.

"And do you think…other gods that want to protect humanity can be just as awesome? Capable of being your friend?" Palutena asked, shyly referring to herself with that question.

"Absolutely. Anything is possible if you put your heart and mind to it." Peter advised wholeheartedly.

"Okay…" Palutena acknowledged all of his wonderful advice with a solemn nod.

"Welp…" Peter stands up, putting on his mask and grabbing the Gaol Blade, "Better get moving and give Pit his new toy. You said we'll be hunting for 'Sacred Treasures'?"

"Three of them, yes. Pit will need them." Palutena clarified, standing up herself to warmly smile at the spider she is growing fonder of after every meaningful conversation, "Thank you, Peter, for…looking out for him."

"What are friends for?" Peter responded with a smile behind his mask.

Later…

"Let's go!" exclaimed Pit, happily wielding his new Gaol Blade while leaping through the teleporter door alongside the Dimensional Avengers to begin their new mission.

BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST-The Space Pirate Ship (Route A)

"Alright! With Medusa's commanders out of the way, we're getting to the battle of battles!" The flying Sonic smiled, raring to finally face off against Medusa and Loki.

"But…this isn't the way to the Underworld." Pit noticed that they were sent high above the clouds, nowhere close to the Underworld entrance.

"It's not? Then where are we going?" Sonic retorted in surprise.

'I'm a little embarrassed to say…' Palutena said sheepishly.

"What is it?" Pit questioned.

'Remember the Three Sacred Treasures you used against Medusa long ago?' Palutena reminded him.

"Three Sacred Treasures?" Weiss reacted with a curiously confused expression.

To better explain, Palutena projects to the heroes the 8-bit image of a mirror shield, the ultimate arrow, and a pair of legendary wings. "The Mirror Shield, Arrow of Light, and Wings of Pegasus. They are Skyworld's greatest artifacts that when used together grants you amazing power!" Pit briefed his friends on the ultimate weapons of light.

'Right. I hid them in case of an emergency. You know, so they wouldn't get stolen.' Palutena added.

"That is genius, milady! Truly! These divine weapons will no doubt aid us in the final battle!" Lucina smiled respectfully.

Palutena continues, 'The story doesn't end there. See, there's also this space-pirate ship…'

"Wait, what?" The surprised Pit retorted.

'You know, a pirate ship...in space. Its crew travels the Galactic Sea, robbing the heavens of constellations.' Palutena clarified, revealing the existence of a new enemy faction.

"That's awesome! I mean, evil! I mean, how is that possible? And what does that have to do with the Three Sacred Treasures?" Iron Spider Spider-Man remarked.

'Well…I hid the Three Sacred Treasures in the constellations.' Palutena stated.

"Makes sense for pirates to steal treasure, but stars too?" Spidey sighed.

'And the Underworld Army has gotten wind of it. They're attacking the ship.' Palutena proclaimed.

"We see they're 'bout to attack us too!" quipped Sonic, spotting an Underworld horde rushing to have a brief clash with the heroes that can fend them off with great skill.

'Which brings us to today's mission. Raid the pirate ship and retrieve the Three Sacred Treasures!' Palutena ordered.

"We're on it!" Pit accepted the mission, before the heroes are surprised to feel the goddess maximize their speed to rapid levels while flying upwards, "Aaaand we're going really fast."

'We're already late, so we have to hurry. Hold on!' Palutena retorted.

"How will we be able to breathe in space?!" Weiss asked.

'Have no fear. My power will protect you.' Palutena assured her, preparing to use her magic to help the heroes breathe safely in outer space.

Once the party arrives in space, they are quickly assaulted by a Dark Elf piloting their own starfighter called a Harrow. The blade protruding from above the engine would've sliced them in half if they didn't dodge, but they had little defense against its rapidfire laser weapons until Spidey and Pit perform a combo counter. Morphing his nanotech arm into a blade, Spidey plunges it into the side of the ship to weaken it for Pit to blast apart its engine with powerful homing shots from his Gaol Blade, destroying the Harrow.

"Thanks again for the new weapon, Spidey! It's a lot more powerful than I thought it'd be!" Pit said gratefully.

"The beauty of fusing weapons. Dunno how I created one based on Gaol's cursed armor. Must be the weirdness of merging my science with magic weapons." Spidey quipped.

"So those Three Sacred Treasures must be as old as you I'd imagine. Do they still work?" Sonic asked the light goddess.

'They've grown more brittle with age, but they'll likely last a few more battles.' Palutena answered.

"You're not exactly inspiring confidence here." Sonic quipped.

'Well, maybe Pit doesn't need them anymore. Don't be such chickens.' Palutena teased.

"I'm no chicken! I could take Medusa and Loki with one arm tied behind my back!" Pit retorted confidently.

'Listen to that swagger! You've toughened up nicely, Pit. Remember when you'd be like, "I'm finished!" all the time?' Palutena quipped.

"I…still say that…a lot…" Pit admitted embarrassedly.

"Must have not been paying attention." Lucina muttered.

Not long after vanquishing several more monsters, the heroes made it to the astonishingly vast interstellar ocean where constellations are born and held in place. "Man, what a sight!" Pit smiled heavenly, with Spidey just whistling in amazement at this cosmic sea.

'You've arrived at the Galactic Sea!' Palutena announced.

"By the gods, this is breathtaking…" Lucina commented with a wonderous smile.

"It's beautiful." Weiss grinned lovingly.

"Never knew a place like this could exist in space…" Sonic remarked in stunned awe at this mystical ocean that embodies the perception of ancient cultures that stars and constellations were symbols of heavenly beings and great powers from above.

'The pirate ship should be around here somewhere…' Palutena said, wondering where it is.

"Where?" Spidey wondered himself while glancing around for the galactic ship.

Suddenly his armor's sensors detect something from the waters below. Spider-Man looks down to find what appears to be the silhouette of a massive spaceship that is about to emerge right under everyone. "WATCH OUT!" He shouted.

"WHOAAAAA!" The heroes screamed while narrowly avoiding the space-pirate ship that bursts out from the cosmic sea and sails away.

"I guess that was it!" Weiss remarked.

"It's moving pretty fast. Stay on its tail!" Spidey commanded.

From a burst of high speed, the party catches up to the ship that is busy fending off a climactic assault from the Underworld Army. "I think I see the ship! It's under attack by Underworld forces." Pit noticed.

"Good. That means the treasures are still on board." Spidey responded.

"So the plan now is to…defend the ship?" Pit wondered.

'Focus, Pit. To get the treasures, you need to take out those space pirates too. Plus, just think how lonely the sky would be without constellations. Don't hold back!' Palutena proclaimed.

It is all-out war the Alliance is soaring themselves into. The Space Pirate Ship is unleashing numerous laserfire at all enemies coming after its treasure, forcing the likes of Sonic and Weiss to dodge their attacks until Underworld troops give them trouble, prompting their friends to assist with high-speed lasers that was interrupted by the Ship suddenly leaping into the air. "EUAAH!" The heroes yelled, as the ship lands back in the water.

'I'm looking for an entrance. Hold tight!' Palutena told them, searching for an entrance while the team flies around the ship fighting off more demons and dodging more lasers.

One of the lasers manage to hit Spidey, knocking him aback for a moment until he recovers quickly enough to avoid more damaging attacks. "Anytime now!" He hurried the goddess.

'Found one! Get ready to go in!' Palutena finally spots an opening, which scares the heroes as they are sent crashing into a spot near the back of the ship for their rough land battles.

BGM-Avengers: Infinity War OST-Morning After

Painfully, the dimensional saviors survived the crash and take a moment to recover, with Pit complaining, "Not that we're complaining, but could you be a little gentler next time?"

'Sorry about that! Are you OK?' Palutena asked apologetically.

"No!" Weiss scowled while standing back up, allowing her and Lucina's Sky Cycles to be teleported back to Skyworld.

'But don't you have Aura?'

"It doesn't shut off my pain receptors."

"We're all fine, Palutena." Spidey assured after taking off his armor, "Let's rob this ship of its booty and get outta here."

The Avengers begin searching for the Three Sacred Treasures that's stored somewhere in this massive galactic ship. They walk into a quiet room that felt safe until Spider-Man puts out an arm to stop his teammates. He senses an attack coming toward them in the form of a grenade rolling into view and exploding, quickly scattered them within the ensuing smokescreen.

As Weiss gets back on her feet, she hears, "SPACE PIRATES!", from a muscular green-skinned alien man with red tattoos that throws his dual knives at the glyph she just conjured for her defense before freezing the mysterious destroyer.

The alien wasn't alone. Five more otherworldly troublemakers show up to give the Dimensional Avengers trouble in the smoke that makes it hard to tell if they are enemies, like a human-looking man hiding his face behind a space helmet and firing his dual Element Guns at Sonic. The speedy hedgehog dodges all of his attacks until he trips on a branchy tree tendril created by a baby tree alien that loves yelling and latching onto his beatable face. While Lucina is clashing blades with a green-haired swordswoman that is giving her a deadly run for her money, Pit springs a springy electrical trap deployed by a space raccoon. Spidey awakens to the sight of a cute alien woman with antennas trying to put him to sleep with her telepathic powers. Startled, Spidey says, "Whoa whoa whoa whoa! Please don't put your eggs in me!", while crawling backwards and webbing her up.

"Stay down, clown!" quipped the Masked Mystery Leader, kicking down the spider-teenager.

"Hurt my friend and I hurt you, let's go!" Pit retorted, angrily engaging the masked man in a brief battle that has him avoiding many elemental lasers before being subdued by his electrical bolas that vigorously shock him.

"NONE CAN FREEZE THE DESTROYER!" The Green Man shouted upon freeing himself from the ice, then ferociously pins Weiss to a wall by the throat.

As the brief scuffle comes to a stalemate, Pit is held at gunpoint by the Masked Leader and Lucina seems to have gain a very slight edge over the Alien Swordswoman. "Everybody stay where you are! Chill the F out!" The Masked Leader demanded from everyone.

'Who are you people?!' Palutena communicated with the mysterious enemies, much to their surprise.

"Am I nuts?! Who's talking in my head?!" retorted the Space Raccoon.

"I don't mind. She sounds cute." The Masked Leader quipped.

"Wait a sec…I know that voice." Spidey recognized. As the smoke clears from the room, everyone properly sees who they have been fighting, with the shocked Webhead realizing the identities of their not-enemies, "STAR-LORD?! Why are the Guardians of the Galaxy trying to kill us?"

BGM End

"Huh? Spider-Man? You're in this dimension too?" The infamous Star-Lord was just as surprised upon recognizing his old spider-friend, to the point of powering off his helmet and shamelessly quipping at the accidental fight his galactic team started, "Weellll this is an awkward reunion…"

"You know these space pirates?" Pit asked his spider-buddy, still stuck in a headlock by Peter Quill.

"SPACE Pirates?" Quill scoffed, "No, we're here to kill space pirates. And a multi-dimensional monster that dragged us here. Long story." He said before letting go of the angel so he could breathe.

BGM-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 OST-Standing Together

"Sorry for the mix-up, kids. It's been a crazy day from our universe to this one." apologized Gamora, the Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe.

"That's okay. It's been crazy for us too. We're here to stop Loki and his snake-haired girlfriend from conquering both worlds." Sonic replied.

"The God of Mischief is here as well? That does not bode well for any universe. Where is Thor?" asked by the stern Drax the Destroyer, letting go of the heiress that he nearly choked to death.

"Unavailable. But we are being helped by the resident Goddess of Light. Say hi, Palutena." Spidey quipped.

'Hello!' Palutena greeted her new dimensional allies through telepathy.

"Hello! My name is Mantis!" smiled Mantis, the newest Guardian and the kindhearted Celestial Madonna.

"I am Groot." said Groot, the baby tree that knows only three words.

"And how is invading a space pirate ship part of your plan to beat a god?" quipped Rocket Raccoon, the Talking Rodent.

"The space pirates stole Three Sacred Treasures that are extremely powerful. They helped me beat Medusa before, and they'll help again against her and Loki." Pit briefed the Guardians on his team's mission objective.

Rocket smiles slyly, "I do like me extremely powerful weapons. I think we can spare time helping each other out."

"Awesome! Let's try not to wing this!" Spidey proclaimed happily at this new multiversal team up.

"Yeah, 'not winging this' isn't really what we do." Quill quipped.

"Uh, what exactly do you do?" Pit questioned the Guardians.

"Kick names, take ass." Mantis answered.

"Yeah, that's right." Drax agreed while quietly shifting to a commanding position beside her.

BGM End

Pit and the Dimensional Avengers stand dumbfounded. As in, completely dumbfounded by the Guardians' fascinatingly weird behavior. Even the Goddess of Light watching this from her home was left at a loss for words as she never came across any mortals dumber than these so-called intergalactic peace keepers and hopes they aren't their universes' last hope.

"…Alright, let's do this." Spidey declared, going to pretend that last awkward moment never happened so they may continue their mission together.

BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST-Into the Space Pirate Ship

Fighting as one, the Dimensional Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy venture through the ship in search for the stolen treasures. The Space Pirates won't give up their most prized possession without a fight, and a fight they give as a horde of the armor-like insectoid creatures are confronted in another room and are giving the unified heroes a brief challenge with their various attacks like claw slashes, grenade launchers, sniper rounds.

"So those are the space pirates? I get the feeling they won't just hand over the Three Sacred Treasures." Pit commented, taking cover from their dangerous attacks.

"They're a little tougher than a bunch of the aliens we faced. Be careful." Star Lord advised, before jumping over his hiding spot quipping, "Unless you're an awesome guy like me!", and using his Element Guns for a stylish combo that starts with him freezing their enemies, then electrifying them with electrical water, before knocking them all down with a charged electric shot.

Not long after, the group enters a generator room, as stated by Palutena, 'This is the generator room.'

"What is that shining in the glass?" Lucina noticed a massive machine housing an energy source resembling a galaxy.

Rocket steps forward to answer, "That's where energy from across this Galactic Sea is converted into propulsive power. As long as the ship remains in the Galactic Sea, it can run indefinitely. Would love to steal this baby for the Milano."

"So…should we destroy it?" Lucina asked unsurely.

"Did you not just hear what I said? 'Sides, the explosion would be enormous if you poke your sword into it!" Rocket retorted.

"That sounds painful." Lucina cringed at the thought.

As the heroes proceed, they enter a hall where a Belunka suddenly breaks open the wall from outside the ship. "Wuh! A Belunka!" The startled Pit commented.

"So that's what you call whales in this dimension." Star-Lord joked.

'The Underworld Army really wants in on this fight.' Palutena remarked.

"Then I will give them a fight that'll send them BACK to the Underworld!" Drax lets out a destructive roar upon charging headfirst toward the Belunka. The demon whale spews out smaller demons that the Destroyer barges through with effortless efforts, smacking each monster to death with the strongest punches before furiously tackling the Belunka out of the ship. With his dual knives, he stabs the monster's eyes, blinding it before tearing it apart in the most brutal way imaginable that causes it to explode right as Drax leaps back into the ship no worse for wear.

"That was so AWESOME! Never seen Belunkas beaten that badly in my life!" commented Pit, greatly impressed by Drax's otherworldly strength.

"There is a reason why I am titled The Destroyer in my world." Drax smiled, liking the compliment.

Soon after, the heroes stumble across the ship's storage vault. 'Oh, I see.' Palutena realized where they ended up before they do.

"See what?" Quill responded.

'This must be a storage vault for the stolen constellations. They've all been compressed for easy transport.' Palutena noted, after looking at the constellations compressed into transport spheres.

"And what about the Three Sacred Treasures?" Pit asked.

'Unfortunately, they don't seem to be here.' Palutena sensed, 'I bet the pirate captain has them. I wonder if he's wearing them.'

"Then it's more than just an emergency!" Pit retorted.

"It's a FASHION emergency." Quill quipped.

"Do you two share a braincell?" Rocket mocked them.

"Keep a lookout for the Abilisk. Can't let it anywhere near the constellations." Gamora ordered the team.

"Is that the multi-dimensional monster you were hunting down?" Sonic questioned.

Gamora nods, "Yes. We were hired by a Sovereign planet to kill it before it could feed on their Anulax Batteries. We nearly did until it surprised us by transporting us all to this dimension. If it feeds on all the constellations, it'll grow too powerful and doom the entire galaxy!"

"That'll suck. Let's make sure that doesn't happen." Sonic quipped.

As the heroes continue exploring, they exit the ship through the side to find themselves running on a blue translucent path of light that is easy on the eyes. "Whoa!" Weiss exclaimed in awe at this breathtaking outer space view.

"This is the side of the ship's hull." Mantis said.

"The view is like a postcard!" Weiss commented.

"But them over there isn't a pretty sight." Mantis points out a Space Pirate horde rushing to kill them. "Don't you worry! This One got this!" She herself declared. As soon as her eyes glow with mental power, it was over for the Space Pirates as none of them stand a chance against the Celestial Madonna. Her martial arts are one of the best any galaxy has ever experienced, performing powerful palm strikes that annihilates her enemies and backflip kicks that send them flying. With a wave of her hand, Mantis inflicts encroaching sleep on a pirate before smashing them into others with a swift roundhouse kick that knocks the remaining horde off the path so they may fall to their bottomless doom.

'That was exceptional display, Mantis! Martial arts like that usually takes thousands of years to perfect!' Palutena commented, shockingly impressed by the martial arts alien prodigy.

"From you, that's an honor. I was a prodigy in my studies to become the Celestial Madonna." Mantis smiled.

'Celestial Madonna?' Palutena questioned.

"Mother of the Celestial Messiah, a being destined to change the universe." Mantis answered.

'Okay then. Raise them good for us.' Palutena smiled.

Once back inside the ship, the heroes enter a room with a switch that Baby Groot investigates. "I am Groot." He said, pointing out the switch to Rocket.

"That's what it looks like." Rocket answered, understanding his alien tongue.

"I am Groot." Groot said.

"They usually do." Rocket allows him to activate the switch with a simple swing of his adorable tendril.

"HOW does a raccoon understand tree?" Pit retorted, baffled by their weird relationship while confronting more enemies.

"Easy. I practiced." Rocket quipped.

"Why is Groot a baby? Last I remember, he was adult size." Spidey questioned, watching the tree child being adorably ruthless on foes with root swipes.

"There was a little incident of him flying too close to a sun. Better hope Angel Boy doesn't suffer the same fate." joked Rocket, launching a high-intensity charge of plasma that burns enemies to death.

The heroes go into another room, one more dangerous than the others as space pirates keep spawning from doors. "Enemies are coming out of the doors!" shouted Lucina, countering a pirate attack with a fast outward strike.

"I'll stop them at the source!" Gamora retorted. Wielding her powerful Godslayer sword, the Guardian Assassin makes quick work of the pirates with a merciless combo none in the galaxy can withstand. She blitzes a few with a sliding slash, then several more with an outward swipe, slicing dozens more with just two spin attacks, before unleashing a mighty shockwave that demolishes the remaining baddies and destroys the door, all in a deadly rapid succession.

"Yikes! That's some skill! And a blade!" Pit commented on Gamora's frightening skills.

"It's called the Godslayer." Gamora said stoically.

"You mean…?" The horrified Pit retorted.

"That I've used it to kill gods? Plenty." Gamora snarked.

'Remind me not to get on your bad side.' Palutena quipped.

"What's in here?" Star-Lord investigates another room by his lonesome, which turns out to contain a hot spring that is being used by a space pirate, "Jackpot! Space-pirate hot spring!" He announced, which immediately caught Pit's attention as the excited angel rushes to his side, "It looks like somebody beat us to it."

"Hope there's room for two more!" Pit smirked.

"There's always room for two more!" quipped Quill, taking out the pirate so he and Pit can take a short break in the hot spring.

Gamora finds the idiots slacking off during the mission, much to her irritation. If she's not allowed to relax, then neither are Pit and Star-Lord. So, she casually tosses a grenade into their pool and watches them explode out of it all soaking wet. "Move, you idiots!" She scolded them.

"Yes, ma'am…" Both Pit and Quill said weakly.

After another small venture outside, the heroes enter a small room connected to a grind rail. 'I set up a grind rail for you outside the ship.' Palutena informed them.

"Didn't know gods could do that." Rocket snarked, while the party grinds on the space rail.

'I'm pretty limited in where I can put grind rails. Luckily, the Underworld forces cleared out a lot of clutter.' Palutena said.

"Where's this thing go?" Drax questioned.

'To the ship's control room. I think that's where we'll find the Three Sacred Treasures.' Palutena replied.

"Good! I want my stuff back!" Pit retorted.

"Hopefully this Abilisk thing didn't eat it." Spidey quipped.

The grind rail escorts the team back inside the ship that is infested with Space Pirates having war with Underworld troops. "This place is crawling with Underworld enemies too!" Pit noticed.

"Just keep pushing forward and show 'em the beauty of teamwork!" Quill commanded.

An Avenger and Guardian then pair up to unleash the mightiest combo that is out of this galaxy. For Spider-Man and Mantis, the former webs the nearest enemies into a cocoon for the latter to smash out with an energy-empowered palm strike. For Weiss and Drax, the destroyer rips out a large chunk of the floor for the heiress to freeze and create a makeshift ice bomb that scatters foes. For Lucina and Gamora, the twin swordswomen demolish hordes with the fiercest slashes. For Sonic, he ricocheting off goons with Spin Attacks alongside Rocket blitzing around with twin plasma rifles, all while Baby Groot is dancing around so casually and happily. And as for Pit and Star-Lord, they are synergizing weaponry for the sake of embarrassing both enemy factions at once, from infusing ice with the angel's Ore Club to electrifying his Tiger Claws, which all leads to combining a charged fire blast with an arrow shot that annihilates the last monsters blocking their path to the Space Pirate Captain.

"Oh yeah! Who're your daddies?!" Quill mocked their defeated enemies with a little victory dance.

"Us!" Pit smiled, sharing a high-five with the Guardian Leader before all heroes arrive in a room with an elevator.

'This elevator will take you to the pirate captain.' Palutena informed them.

"We are SO swabbing the deck with that jerk!" Spidey joked.

Ship Deck.

Guardians and Avengers alike finally arrive on the ship deck, where the Space Pirate Captain is shouting unintelligibly orders through a megaphone. "I have NO idea what he's saying." Pit remarked.

'He's like, "Yar, I'll make ye walk the space plank, scurvy dog!"' Palutena claimed, much to the heroes' wondering if she's telling the truth, 'That's just a loose translation.'

"Oh, man…not the space plank!" Star-Lord quipped, looking down with playful fear.

But then, Star-Lord perks up as quickly as he hears something monstrously. Several pink tentacles emerge from beneath the ship and grab the Captain, which toss him into the mouth of a giant multiversal monster that resembles some sort of alien octopus. The Monster then notices the heroes with just a startling red eye and screeches, "GREEEYAAAAAAAAARH!", at them that begins their battle.

BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST-Boss Fight 1

"Well. That was an intense way for the Abilisk to say hello." Rocket joked, revealing this multiversal monster as the Abilisk.

"That's the monster you guys were hired to kill?! It just came out of nowhere!" Pit retorted before narrowly evading a tentacle swipe.

"It's at home in this monster-infested Galactic Sea. Looks like it finished snacking on some constellations. Let's kill it before it eats everything! Do something about those tentacles!" Star-Lord ordered the party.

The Abilisk is hiding its head beneath the Space Pirate Ship, using its four tentacles to attack its enemies. Star-Lord and Sonic activate their jet shoes as Rocket activates his jet pack, with the trio launching attacks from the sky while the rest of their friends attack from the ground. Everyone but Groot quickly take a pummeling, with the likes of Quill and Lucina being smacked by tentacles, and Drax, Spidey, and Pit caught in the clutches of giant tentacles that slam them numerous times.

"Is this supposed to be some kind of space kraken? Looks more like a pink-naked mouse." Sonic joked while dodging tentacles.

"I see the inside of an old man's ear that DESPERATELY needs a wax!" Spidey quipped amidst hitting tentacles with web bullets.

"Get out of the way, Groot! You're going to get hurt!" shouted Weiss, blasting tentacles while Groot is playing around and pretending his friends aren't in mortal danger. He does, however, take a moment to wave at the huntress who replies, "Hi.", before dashing back into the fray.

The tide begins turning to the heroes' favor as they are finding openings to attack the tentacles thanks to Mantis's mental powers disturbing the interdimensional beast. A Spin Dash from Sonic defeats a tentacle. Sword strikes from Gamora defeats another tentacle. Ice blasts from Weiss takes out the third tentacle. And immense firepower from Rocket knocks down a fourth.

"That should be enough tentacles to coax it out!" Spidey exclaimed.

'Now go for the head!' Palutena ordered.

The head of the roaring Abilisk shows itself, prompting Drax to roar back, "HRRROOOAAAAAAR!", while leading the charge for a full frontal assault. Again the beast proves to be a difficult foe as it lunges at Gamora, who narrowly rolled away, and intercepts a spindashing Sonic with a rainbow-colored quantum blast out of its mouth that knocks him away to make it easier to spit out energy orbs that harm the likes of Mantis and Weiss.

BGM-Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 OST-vs. The Abilisk

After Drax is flung by the beast, he stands and glares at the ferocious monstrosity enduring an impressive amount of attacks from Rocket, Quill, Spider-Man, and Pit that fail to do any significant damage. "The beast's hide is too thick to be pierced from the outside. I must cut through it from the inside." Drax believed that method will kill it.

'Huh?' Palutena responded, reacting in shock at the hollering Destroyer charging at the creature, 'Wait, no! That doesn't make-!'

The Abilisk opens its enormous screeching mouth, with Drax leaping inside it and be instantly swallowed up, much to Quill's surprised confusion, "What is he doing?!"

Palutena answers, 'He said the skin is too thick to be pierced from the outside, so he-!'

"That doesn't make any sense!"

'I tried to tell-!'

"Its skin is the same thickness from the inside as from the out!"

'I REALIZE THAT.'

Drax is hollering and slashing away inside the goo of the beast's stomach, which is doing nothing but prove Quill's statement. Outside amidst all the fighting, Pit glances at Star-Lord shouting, "Star-Lord, I think I saw a cut on its neck!"

"Gamora, Kid Icarus, focus on that neck! Rocket, Hedgehog, get it to look up!" Quill ordered, leading his little flying team high over the creature as they attack it repeatedly. "Hey, you Giant Sea Monkey, up here!" He taunted the beast into screeching, then firing more quantum blasts that batter his animal buddies, with Sonic's fur and Rocket's clothes caught on fire that they are desperately trying to put out.

But its neck is exposed, where the skin is thinner and there is a small wound for Pit to agitate with precise arrow shots. While Quill is being overwhelmed, Gamora rushes in to deliver the final blow, leaping high into the air and plunging her sword directly into the wound. She holds tight to the hilt as she falls, slicing an incision down the length of the creature's neck.

"Calamaried!" Pit declared victoriously.

'What a sucker…' Palutena quipped.

The Abilisk wobbles and topples before collapsing dead on the ground. After its collapse, Drax spills out of the wound with the Sacred Casket containing the Three Sacred Treasures that were swallowed alongside the Space Pirate Captain. Drax laughs, raising his arms in victory exclaiming, "I have singlehandedly vanquished the beast!", and continues laughing until Groot throws a rock at him, "What?"

"Hey look! Check it out!" Pit rushes over to the Sacred Casket and lifts it up.

"The Three Sacred Treasures must be inside." Spidey believed.

"Hm. The box has really held up well." Pit noticed.

'It is less pixelated than I remember.' Palutena joked.

"This was a fun little crossover. We should do this again sometime. Preferably after we receive our paycheck from the Sovereign." Quill smiled, with the Guardians saying their goodbyes to the Dimensional Avengers.

"You have a way back home?" Pit asked, shaking hands with the legendary outlaw.

"We'll just install an interdimensional warp drive into this ship. Shouldn't be hard." Quill responded.

"In the meantime, we'll return the constellations back to where they belong. You kids need to focus in defeating Loki and this Medusa." Gamora said to the young heroes.

"Will do! Always a pleasure saving the galaxy with you Guardians!" Spidey expressed.

"By the way, Webs, how many Exo Stones have you found? Heard you've been collecting them." Quill asked him.

"Four. With one of them in Doom's metal hands." Spidey answered.

"His Masters of Evil, right? Found out recently they aren't the only big players in this Exo Hunt. Everyone in our entire universe wants them all and I'm a little scared of the attention your Stones will attract to Earth." Quill said grimly.

"Who'd be so interested?" Spidey shrugged.

"Spartax, the Sakaarans, Celestials, just to name a few." Rocket snarked.

"Right. Consider us warned." Spidey quipped, taking their grim warning lightly.

"We will do our part in searching for Exo Stones." Drax said.

"I suggest visiting Omnipotence City for answers before your final battle with Medusa." Mantis recommended to the Avengers, much to their curious interest.

'Omnipotence City? Why there?' Palutena retorted in shock, sounding like she knows of this divine city personally.

"Just a foresight I have. Dark days are coming that will trouble the gods. You must find a way to stop that from happening or all will be lost!" Mantis replied with a grim warning for her dimensional friends.

"I'd listen to her, even when she doesn't make sense." Quill quipped.

"I am Groot!" Groot agreed with his leader.

"Sure, we'll look into it." Spidey declared with a promising nod while a light shines down over his team. "Til next time, Guardians! Peace out!" He said, with both teams exchanging their final goodbyes before the Avengers are whisked away and the Guardians get ready to leave this dimension.

BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST-Solo Menu

KFX Here: We're nearly done with the Medusa Arc. Just two more chapters to go. For those curious about Mantis, her character in this series is a combination of her comic book counterpart and her MCU incarnation. As in her backstory and powers are similar to her comic book history, but her personality and attire is mostly based on her MCU self.

XenoSlayer983: New Goblin IS the same from the Raimiverse. It's like Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Loki recruiting him from a time before his death.

Nathan Ramos: Yes, I have watched the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer. No plans for fanfics based on them yet.

Next Time: Divine Detour! A Field Trip to Omnipotence City!
