Choice In Hardware
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Ross wasn't going to say anything but those suits were a choice.
Disclaimer; Don't own them.
Everett has seen a lot of things during his life. He has also been through a lot of things as well. Aliens…superheroes, aliens that are superheroes, villains that are aliens. That is just the tip of the iceberg of this whole damn thing.
Then there was Wakanda.
It was a marvelous place with tech beyond anyone's imagination. He remembers standing at the window for hours just to take it all in.
The thing that hit him the most were the people.
Wakandains were good people. Yes, he would say that because they saved his life but it was more than that.
Good people are hard to find in this world. He knew that in his line of work. He walked the lines of shades of gray for years.
Yes, Wakandians walked the same line but they didn't do it for power. They did it to protect their own. How could he fault them when he wanted the same thing?
Before he got wrapped up in red tape, politics and policies, he was a bright-eyed young man who wanted to serve his country.
And that he did…serve his country until it was wrong.
He knew that it was a chess match on who had the most power, who had the best technology, the most weapons, and who had the most secrets. It was an endless game with endless consequences for everyone.
He knew the cost.
He knew when to look forward and when to turn a blind eye.
For the things that he saw?
He turned a blind eye. He kept his mouth shut.
Out of it, he got a strange sort of friendship/acquaintances with its people and its king.
Before the Snap, T'Challa would call about some policy or something. After the Snap, they were all busy with putting the world back together. But he did receive a miss call before he passed…and until this day, it gutted him to miss it.
The Queen…he talked to her twice. Once, when Shuri's kidnapping and the other was to tell him about T'Challa.
Each conversation left him in awe. She was the strongest woman that he ever met.
It broke him again when he heard of her passing.
Shuri, on the other hand, had the worst habit of calling in the middle of the night. Yes, he knew that there was a time difference. Yes, he knew that she liked to pull his leg like her colorful comments about his tv, phone, and his computer…or anything else tech related.
(He didn't ask her how she knew about his tv or what he watched on tv.)
He was in the firm camp of "It isn't broken, don't fix" or her case, take it apart and see if we can make a bomb.
(Yes, he is also firmly in the camp of Shuri could make a bomb out of his tv.)
So, he wasn't too surprised about Shuri designing those suits…Midnight Angel Suits?
Uhh…hmm…
That was a choice.
"So…," He said as he sat next to Okoye in an unmarked car after his rescue.
"We aren't going to allow any harm to come to you," Okoye said.
"No…no…I was going to ask about the suit," He said.
"What? We aren't going to tell you anything about the tech…" She started to say.
"No…No…I was thinking more about the appearance."
There was a moment of silence.
"….It is dreadful in appearance, isn't it?"
"Mildly so. I was also thinking something."
He wasn't that Shuri ever saw the movies or she subconsciously thought about it.
"How could there be something else? They are useful but awful," She said.
"Hey….Alexis…or whatever you called…" He said.
"Yes, Mr. Ross," The AI voice said throughout the car.
"Bring up a picture of the Predator for Ms. Okoye," He said as he made a face.
Few seconds later, the picture of the Predator appeared in front of them as a hologram.
He glanced at her eyes widened and mouth dropped slightly.
"Dear lord…That face."
"Yes, that."
"Those things…"
"Yup, it does look like tentacles, does it?"
"Is it supposed to be scary?"
"I think so….Personality, I saw it once and that was years ago."
"She…it…."
"I know…"
"This is your fault," She said as she glared at him.
"Last time, I checked. I never introduced her to these movies. I will not be blamed for this," He said in a panic.
She is going to kill him before he even gets out of the country.
"When we get to Wakanda, you are going to help her design a better suit."
"I…don't…"
She glared at him even harder.
"Okay…I will try my best."
Well…he knew how he was going to die.
All because of the princess's terrible taste in hardware.
A/N: So the moment those suits appeared on screen, that is what I thought. Read and Review if you wish.
