The human seemed to come in right behind him. She closed her eyes, and Sans knew what she was doing. "You don't have that good control of-" Bones shot up, forcing Sans to step backwards. Sans turned around and noticed, both of them were trapped in a bone cage. "Great, now we're both stuck here."
Sans noticed the human's face. "What?" He saw that expression on Frisk when he fought Asriel, "You can't reset?" Sans couldn't help, but smile at that. "Heh. Heh. What happens if you die?" The human shrugged, "Wanna find out?" The human shook her head. "Then, I suggest you behave." A nod. "Quiet all the sudden." Sans couldn't help but notice her shivering, "I'm not going to hurt you for no reason, kiddo." Not that you don't deserve it. "I plan to fulfill my promise." "It's it's not th-that." "What is it?" Sans barely made out the answer as the human's voice was so low, "Humans." "Humans?" That's not the answer he expected.
Okay, this is new territory and is providing answers. Vague ones, sure, but it is an explanation. And that stupid flower isn't here yet to interrupt. "You're scared of humans?" She nodded. "Wanna give me a reason why." She shook her head. "You're gonna have to help me out here, kiddo." "They, uh, um." Sans barely made out the sentence. It explained why this bone cage seemed to not bother her, until she realized where she was. "I'm not going to repeat that, ever." No wonder she reacted so badly to his threat. He wasn't the first one to make it after supposedly protecting her. The first one who did, attempted to complete it. "You telling me, you have no intentions on going to the surface in either timeline?" Sans hated that he was pretty much using the threat of the human's life to get answers, but this is the only chance he's got. She shook her head. "Look, kiddo. Two things. One, someone should have intervened." Especially since her face showed that wasn't the worst of it. Sans wasn't willing to say so, as he knows he is not a trusted companion of the human and has never been. "Two, I'm sorry." Her eyes widened. "You don't have to say anything. I should've never threatened you at the restaurant." Sans felt awkward. People watched. He guessed he watched, so was he any better than the humans? Now he has an even worse headache. "I didn't know you and I used your fear against you." Isn't that what he's doing now? "There was no reason for me to do that." Sans wished he could back up, but if any of them did so, they'd hit the bones, so they were stuck face to face, able to feel each other's breath.
"You uh um meant it." Sans shrugged, "It's my job." The human paled. "Not saying if I didn't make a promise, I had left you alone." Sans kept his voice calm, "Cause it's not true. But the threat was a little late.
Had a human before who I didn't kill who, welp let's just say they killed me. Dunno why they died and we reset. Always wondered." Sans didn't mention, he once threatened them too. Some truths shouldn't be told.
The human shrugged. "You have any questions?" She shook her head. "Wanna say anything at all?" "Um did you-" Suddenly, a flower interrupted their chat, "Wow, Sans, you really are an idiot!" The flower untied the human and used the same jacket to tie Sans' arms behind his back. Sans wasn't protesting the flower's treatment of him at all.
The human then was lifted out of the bones. "You alright?" The human nodded. "Good, good." Flowey couldn't help, but notice the kid was shivering quite immensely. "What did you do!?" Sans was admonished by the flower. "Nothin'."
"I don't have time for you. Come on, let's get you out of here." Flowey was not going to let his partner be hurt. She was very useful. The human stood up, before Flowey led the way out of the room.
"Up to you, kiddo." Sans hoped she would do the right thing. He wished he got to say what he needed to say, but a heart to heart could sometimes work.
Sans gave a genuine smile when he was back in Snowdin. Too bad he'd have to see the kid again. That was a downside.
