When the hatch opened, the sun dazzled Nate; saw with his own eyes what was left of his home; the flora was dry, the houses destroyed, and he could swear that he saw some green clouds in the distance.
"My God," He said, not believing what he was seeing.
"If you think this is the worst, imagine what he lives with now," Six said, unimpressed by his reaction. "We'd better go meet up with the rest for our next move."
"Do you want to take some time?" Ruby asked Nate, who answered by nodding.
As they left him, Nate could only sit and stare.
'In the end, we caused the end of the world,' He thought as he looked at the place
"And how is it inside?" Pyrrha asked.
"Well, this place was a research vault where they experimented with cryogenics," Ruby said to her friends, who were not surprised by this. After all, Vault-Tec is infamous for its experiments. "By the way, Weiss, I got you a present," she said, taking out the cryolator; Weiss opened her eyes like a girl with a Christmas present.
"Thank you, Ruby!" she said, giving her a passionate kiss. "It reminds me of Myrtenaster," she said with joy.
"I guess now we can call you ice queen," Yang teased. Weiss put on a straight face and responded.
"First of all, don't call me that, and second, do I need to remind you about your hair?" she said that last part with a raised eyebrow.
"Touche," Yang said; the group laughed at that.
"Were there any survivors?" Ren asked.
"Just one from before the war," Ruby said dejectedly. "And he's up there clearing his mind."
"Well, I don't blame him, knowing that the world he knew no longer exists," Jaune mentioned; everyone couldn't help but agree, but also were wondering if Remnant had changed during their absence and if their families were still alive.
"And what's his name?" Pyrrha asked.
"His name is Nate; he didn't tell us anything else."
"The sole survivor," Nora said. Everyone turned to look at her. "I mean, if he was the only survivor of that vault, he deserves a cool nickname."
"I don't think he would like it," Ren said calmly.
"What?! Come on, you also have a great nickname, or am I wrong, Lotus King" Ren was going to refute, but he simply accepted what she said.
"Yeah, nicknames aside, keep us safe from unwanted enemies," Six said, walking inside. "We already did what we had to do; what's our next move, Ruby?"
"Well...I" Ruby didn't know what to say, the plan was to help, and it was done, but there was nothing else to do.

"Oh! It's really you!" Codsworth said upon seeing his master.
"It's amazing that you're still alive, Codsworth," Nate said, surprised the group saw the man in the coverall from vault 111 chatting with the robot as if seeing an old friend.
"Well, sir, while you were gone, I made sure to keep everything in order. By the way, where are Miss Nora and Shaun?" Nate glared at the rings.
"She...is in a better place, and he...was kidnapped," Nate responded to the robot.
"Sir, what you say is impossible. It must be hallucinations due to a lack of food. Hehe, not surprising after two hundred years. Can I make you some snacks?" Nate sensed that something was wrong. He was acting like everything was normal.
"Codsworth, are you okay?"
"I...I..." Breaking down. "It's been horrible! Two centuries with no one to talk to, no one to serve. I spent the first ten years trying to keep the floors waxed but nothing gets out nuclear fallout! Not to mention the futility of removing the dust in a collapsed house. And the car! The car! How do you polish rust!" Pulling his head closer to Nate's chest as if holding him. Nate just hugged him and patted him on the "back" to comfort him.
"Calm down, friend, I am here. Everything is over" The robot backed away.
"I thought you and your family were killed by the bombs. I found this holotape" Pulling it out of its compartment, in black letters, it read, "Hello honey!" "I think the missus was going to give it to you. It was a surprise, but then, well… everything happened."
Nate took it gently and kept it as if it were his most prized possession. "Thanks, Codsworth, I really needed it," Smiling at his friend.
"Sniff, you're welcome, sir. I will stop feeling sorry for myself. There's not much I can do, but you could look into Concord."
"Are there still people there?" Nate asked.
"Well, it's a little rough, but it's not a problem for you. You know the way, cross the bridge to the south of the neighborhood, and past the Red Rocket gas station."
"Thanks, Codsworth. Take care"
"Yes, sir, I'll stay to take care of the fort."
Nate saw his friend was leaving, and then he decided to search for the man who killed his wife and kidnapped his son.
"It's not a good idea for you to go alone," Six said, leaning against a wall.
"Look, I appreciate you pulling me out of that hole, but I have to find that bastard and get my son."
"I understand you, I went through the same thing, but they left me in a shallow grave," Taking off his hat to show the two scars on his forehead. "I don't think a pistol and a couple of stims will be able to fight the wasteland.
"I don't care. They're up against a veteran soldier," Nate said defiantly.
"Do you know how to fight a mole rat?" Nate was puzzled by the name. "Or, in the worst case, a deathclaw?"
Nate wanted to argue, but he had no words.
"Your skills may be useful against raiders, but this is no longer the world you knew, here food is scarce, clean water is like gold, disease is the order of the day, and animals have mutated into man-eaters." men and radiation will kill you if you don't have a Rad-X or a RadAway. So, I'll ask you again, "Do you think you can fight the wasteland?"
Nate thought about his words and felt he couldn't do it on his own as much as he hated it, he was right. "What do you propose?".
"Look, my group is the most experienced, and maybe we can teach you some useful things. You learn, practice, and once you're ready, you can face that "bastard."
"And what do you get in return?" He asked, looking into his eyes.
"Don't die trying," he said directly.
They locked their eyes for a long time until Nate sighed. "You won't let me go, even if I fight?"
"No."
"Okay, we have a deal, but on one condition," Nate pointed out.
"What would that be?".
"Once I feel that I'm ready, I'll go alone."
"If that's what you want, I'll do it." Nate offered him his hand. Six would hold it. "The name is Six."
"Six? What kind of name is that?" Nate asked as he stopped holding his hand.
"Try remembering a name after taking two shots to the head."
"I understand...I'm Nate. It's the only thing you need to know."
"Well, Nate, I'll introduce you to the team and then some. It may not seem like it, but they are stronger than you and me."
"Sure "Sir," Emphasizing that last sentence.
'He thinks a lot just from being in that war. Well, I want to see him face off against a horde of ghouls,' Six thought as she led him to the house where the group was.
Let's just say they weren't the best performers.
"They are. Ruby, Yang, Weiss, Blake, Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora, Ren, and the children are Xanthos and Vermilion."
"Nate," he said without saying anything else. The group felt that the atmosphere was tense when he looked at them. The look he gave them could be described as "I don't trust you."
"Well, the first lesson of the day, fortify this place."
"Shouldn't we leave as soon as possible?" Nate asked Six.
