The boss in question, made a couple hand signs that spelled out to ~Good Night~ and picked up his umbrella.
Neil was a regular human who was inflicted with the curse of not being able to speak from the moment of his birth. But nevertheless, he had built his empire from the ground. The empire that now manufactured parts being used in vehicles all over the continent of Asia.
It was no secret that he was planning to retire, however. It was a big shock to everyone around him. After all, he wasn't even 40 years old yet. Apparently, he felt he had worked enough and wanted to spend the rest of his life playing video games.
Cliché? You bet it is.
He probably had enough money to own a whole colony of houses. But instead, he chose to live in an apartment on the 47th floor of the biggest building in town. It wasn't a rooftop penthouse or anything. But he liked the view and his neighbors.
And as he entered his apartment, he noticed that the bedroom light was on. He lived alone, so naturally he started to panic. Deciding to check out what's going on, he slowly made his way to the room. His phone was in his hand, ready to call security at a moment's notice. But before he could get a good view, he felt a warm feeling in his gut.
He looked down, and there was a knife sticking out of his chest. Someone had stabbed him from the back. He never got to take a look at his killer, as life drained out of him. He mouth was gaping, begging to scream. The pain was...painful, but also satisfying in a way.
To Neil, he had already lived his life. Perhaps it wasn't the worst idea to die. Not that he had any suicidal thoughts mind you, but he also didn't have any regrets. His family would be sad upon his departure, but he had long ago made sure that they would never face any difficulties in their lifetime.
(A/N: Ah yes, very sad. Anyway - onto the important parts.)
Letting an inward sigh, he closed his eyes. Waiting to wake up in heaven, or in hell. He never really believed in God, but he wanted an afterlife where he could laze around sleeping and gaming all day.
But when he opened his eyes next, they were met with greenery. Viridescent grass and tress everywhere, with a pint of ponds mixed with them. Giant rocks and hills towered over him like goliath. He noticed that the pain, along with the blood and the knife had disappeared.
No, not only that. His body was considerably younger. Perhaps in its early twenties. He quickly deduced the phenomenon that had occurred to him. And the first thing he tried to do after standing up, was speaking. He tried to make any sort of noise he could recall. From words to groans, he tried everything. But alas, it didn't work.
Letting another inward sigh escape him, a sad smile ventured on his face. Shaking his head, he began walking around and paying more attention to his surroundings.
He could vaguely recall this scenery. But his deduction was only confirmed when he saw the very familiar Statue of the Seven in the woods.
'Dear me, reincarnated...or rather, transported to the world of Genshin Impact.' He thought. But his mind quickly got over it and began thinking of all the new possibilities he could explore.
In a way, this was exactly what he wanted. After achieving his goals once, he had the opportunity to travel a whole new path. He hadn't played this game as much as everyone else, but he had a basic knowledge of the mechanics, and most importantly, he knew about the key characters.
'Wait, were there computers in this world? Oh shit, there weren't...' A bit disappointed but not disheartened, he walked over to a pond and looked over his reflection. His clothes were still the casual suit he was wearing during his demise. He would have difficulty explaining it to the denizens here...
And he was engulfed in thought, his ears picked up the sounds of footsteps making their way towards him. He turned his head, and there she was.
Sky blue hair and a navy blue headband. Her weird 'noble' outfit, showing off her plump thighs and her immense curves.
"Identify yourself, strange yet respectable traveler." Eula sneered at him. He thought it was a weird way of approaching, but then again, it was probably a Knights of Favonius thing.
But there was a tiny problem. He couldn't speak...and he doubted the residents of this world knew sign language. Noticing his lack of response, Eula began reaching for her blade. Panicking, Neil began moving his hands in a way that was supposed to be a greeting.
But alas, Eula just stared at him in confusion. She had noticed him spacing out while on patrol, so decided to approach him. Combined with his strange clothes and his unrecognizable face, she was inevitably on guard.
Giving up, Neil pointed to his mouth and throat, and then shook his head.
"Oh...maybe you can't speak?" Eula inquired and Neil nodded. "Um, apologies. I am Eula Lawrence, a Knight of Favonius. I must ask, are you not from Mondstadt?"
Neil shook his head and displayed a sad smile, quickly replaced by a refreshing one.
"I see. Would you like to accompany me to the city?" Neil quickly agreed to her suggestion and held out his hand for a handshake. Eula hesitated for a second, but quickly returned the gesture with a tough to notice smile.
They began walking at a steady pace, with Eula turning back regularly to steal glances at Neil.
And thus began his new journey.
