The Capture: Leavan and The Silver Bell's Song
By LeavanDragon/Stacey Carver, Jr.
The Ocean
The waves crashed and piled over one another with unearthly strength, and the sky crackled with lightning as a storm brood over the grey horizon, continually darkening the sky. Whirlpools rotated, pushing and pulling at nearby pokemon and debris that flowed into them with destructive intent. And in the middle of this mobile raging storm of destruction, beautiful, majestic and yet destructive beast flew, its existence a secret whispered in legends, and facts hidden in the hands of a small few. Deep in the darkness, the silver guardian gazed onto the Sinnoh region with a ambitious look, as the sound of a familiar lullaby growing louder in its head. Its keepsake, its promised heirloom was close by, and with it, the slumber it so desired, astired eyes glowed in longing for rest. It gave a cryptic cry, as if trying to sigh, the sound mixing with the storm.
"Uoohhh…"
Snowpoint Harbor
At the snow covered harbor of Snowpoint, many passengersawaited their turn to board the boat leading to the island holding the Battle Frontierand mysterious but heated Stark Mountain. Whether local returning home, or a tourist looking to explore the challenging environments that were on the island, the travelers seemed to be brimming with anticipation, imagining the adventures and battles that awaited them. Among the excited banter and pokemon cries from the passengers, a young trainer seemed to nervously walk through the crowd, a fairly thick book held in his hand, "Legends and Tales of The Deep" it read.
In his back his front jacket pocket, a trainer card shined, the name "Leavan"printed on it. He murmured to himself in annoyance, keeping his head faced forward as to not get into any unnecessary eye contact with the strangers around him. As he moved, the ever growing masses becoming denser and denser, he would trip over some appendage, unsure if person or pokemon, losing his book in the horde. He would grow tense, a fear of a being trampled coming over, before a large and furry hand would reach out to him, yanking him up and to his feet as it revealed itself as pokemon, which yelled at him in a jolly tone.
"Electivire! Elleeee!"
The young trainer would be placed on his feet by the Electivire,as from behind it a man dressed in a trench coat, beanie and sun glasses would approach him, smiling calmly. Leavan, fixing his glasses onto his face, gettinga good look at him as the man spoke to him. "Hello there youngster! Good looks Electivire, this kid would've been turned into a stunfisk if wasn't for ya!~Your not hurt are ya boy?" The teenager would look at the older man and pushinghis glasses up onto his face would nod his head silently, the man replying witha expression of joy and relief as he cackled, smacking him on the backjoyfully, a action which made the young man jolt forward. "Ahaha! Good, glad your more resilient than ya look boy! Whats yer name?" The man would smile at Leavan, greeting him a welcoming glance. However, the young trainer would simply eyes him with suspicion. Something was not right about this man. He would simply shake his head and back away, shrinking himself down as he would go along with the crowd and enter the ship, still knowing the man was behind him.
The Ship
After getting onto the ship, things were much easier for Leavan. There was a lot more space, and simply put each person go their own dormitory. For now atleast, he was safe alone in his room. With much more time to himself, he would explore the ship, which was finely furnished and filled with a interesting cast of characters. Of course, Leavan expected this, a feeling of nostalgia washing over him as he looked at the many trainers and their pokemon. People from Johto, Hoenn, Kanto and other regions. And on the open ocean, he simply wouldn't have it any other way, walking to the front of the ship and looking over the blue horizon. As he watched it, he saw a dark splotch in the distance, something foreign overhead. He attempted to squint his eyes, but to no avail could he figure out it shape. It seemed to be approaching fast.
As he continued to observe it, his gaze would be interruptedby a familiar, but disruptive voice, one which made Leavan tense up. "Well, well! If it ain't the wee lad!" He would turn around, sighing as he looked at the mysterious man from before. Once again, he got a bad feeling from this guy, who seemed to for some reason be talking to him. Leavan would turn around, lookingover the horizon, hoping to see the dark splotch from before, but it was gone, though he couldn't say the same for the old man talking to him.
"Looking at the open sea huh kid? I can relate too! I myself am a man of the sea, traveling wherever I want. Defying the current of fate. You though, strike me as the same sort who defies the current." Leavan didn't say anything, forced to listen to the man's rambling, who face the open horizon as well, continuing to speak, as the waves crashed against the boat, and the winds began to pick up.
"Heh, ironic I end up on the seas of Sinnoh, after coming straight from Johto no less! A youngin like you is probably interested about hearing about the Guardian of The Sea which lives there right?" Leavan simply rolled his eyes. Before he could reply however, the man would smile and continue to talk, putting a hand around his shoulder and pointing out to the sky. "Rumor has it, it leaves in the seafoam islands. A constant moving landmass surrounded bystorms and whirlpools, going from region to region. Laying deep in the caverns of the islands, it is said to be awakened and put to sleep by the sound of a silver bell tied to its wing. Believe it or not though, its true."
Leavan would look at the man and raise a brow. Was this geezer serious? This sounded like some of kind of cheesy kids tale, where the hero comes to awaken the bird and befriends it. He would have a gaze of disbelief, as the man looked at him andwould smirk darkly. "Heh, seem like your having trouble believing it huh? I was like you once lad, however…."
A jingle would reverberate from the man's pocket, and asilvery shine would gleam, as lightning struck beside the boat. A feeling of dread overcame Leavan, as if something bad was about to happen, as the man would reveal the items in his pocket, a silvery wing, and shiny bell, both tiedtogether with a holy glow. "I found these two knickknacks in the seafoamislands myself. And they are in fact the real deal, proof of the existence ofthat Guardian, Lugia's, existence." The ship began to rock back and forth, as dark clouds began to cover the sky, a drizzle taking place. Leavan would stepback, the man raising his arms to the sky.
"Think of it boy, the riches that could be obtainable with this! I fought tooth and nail to get these, escaping that wretched sea bird! And it couldn't catch me! They all called me a fool, but I'll show em good, and once I get to land, I'll never have to worry about that silver winged menace again!" The boat would now be rocking back and forth, as Leavan would find himself no longer be looking at the man, but to the sky, as a silver winged creature with glowing blue eyes glared at them both. The trainer was speechless, as he fell back onto his butt, while the old man would smile, and tossing out his electivire, would cackle.
The Foaming Caverns
"So you finally caught up huh!? Well guess what you silvers courge, you won't catch me this time either! Electivire, thunder!" With a obscene roar from both parties, a flash of light, and a godly gust of wind, Leavan would black out, as he felt the boat being tossed into something, darkness overtaking his sight. For awhile, things were silent, as Leavan would be knocked out for quite awhile, before soon awakening, not in the boat, but atthe entrance of a dark cavern.
"…..What the…"
As he uttered his first words since he started this journey, they would be interrupted with shock, as he looked to the outside of the cave, only to see the ship he came on wrecked into pieces, and a storm brewing around him. Whirlpools everywhere, with no visible survivors in sight. Pure chaos, he thought, and soon, he began to believe the words of the old man. Why was this happening though?
He couldn't understand, there had to be a way out, right? Reaching into his pockets, he felt something jingle. Tensing up, his heart stopped as he felt both items. Soft, light and jingling lightly in his pocket. He didn't have to say anything to know what it was. And safe to say, as he turned to face the dark cavern before him, he felt a unexplained pull, a desire to do right by the beastly guardian, unlike the oldman before him. The silver wing and bell, these two items were important, not only if he wanted to possibly find a way out of here, but if he wanted to stop Lugia from causing more destruction upon innocent people in its restlessness.
The caverns were wet, and endlessly dark no less. With only the light of silver wing to guide him, Leavan would worriedly look around, not knowing if he was ever alone. Occasionally from the darkness, he would hear it, a almost yawn like roar from the depths which made him shiver. "Uuuuooooohhh…." The ghostly wale made him want to turn back, the only thing making him stand strong was the knowledge his pokemon were along for the ride with him, shaking in reassurance that they would not leave his side. He continued to explore, not knowing what he would encounter.
As the cave got darker and darker, he shivered, the feeling of dread increasing he smelled something fowl. Shining the light around him, the young trainer would come to see a horrific sight. Crushed to a pulp, was the old man from before, along with his pokemon. A visible struggle it seems, and a fruitless one at that, as they were completely destroyed by the rage and power of the sea guardian. He almost screamed, holding back his voice for a moment of silence, closing his eyes to give a small funeral to the man he had ignored this whole time. He felt even worse now, being the only one to have most likely survived. Yet he couldn't stop now, no, he had to continue.
Going further, rushing water became more apparent and louder, as he could to a large opening in the cave, containing a body of water, and a large waterfall. From behind it, he could feel it. A pair of eyes watching him, as the shadow of the sea guardian spread its wings from behind the veil and put its glowing blue gaze in his direction. This was it. He knew it was now or never, do or die. Grabbing a pokeball, he tossed, a pokemon forward, a flygon, calling its name as they jumped into conflict. "Goggles, its time to standby for battle! Lets go!" The pokemon looked at its trainer with afearless glance, and both smirked. As trainer and pokemon would look up at the now growing shadow, as the wings expanded and head rose, they knew….
IT WAS ON.
The battle began with unease and explosive tenacity. The Lugia outsped flygon immediately, firing a powerful gust of wind. This move, he had read about it before, it was in his book. Lugia's signature attack, the aeroblast, or Lugia beam. As it struck Goggles, the flygon would be sent flying back, its assault vest absorbing most of the damage as the sand spirit pokemon would catch itself, flying right back into the fray bravely as its trainer gave it acommand. "That's right Goggles, don't give in, lets lower its defense with screech!" The dragon would roar at Lugia, causing the beast to wince as itsears heard the ear curdling screech from the trusty pokemon. It seemed to have work, as the beast would growl, it's morale seeming to have fallen a bit from the pokemon's bravery. It would quickly retaliate, going towards the flygon with a powerful dragon rush, as Leavan would order dragon to attempt to retaliate against its action, in hopes of overpowering the sea guardian.
"Quickly, counter with dragon claw goggles! Don't give up!" The dragon type would brandish it claws, a glowing green energy surrounding them as they enlarged, and the two pokemon would slam into each other, as the flygon would strike lugia head with concussive force. As the two collided, a explosion took place, the result sending Flygon flying into the ground by trainer, splitting the earth as it was in critical condition. Leavan would return it, congratulating the pokemon on its contribution as he noticed the Lugia had not come out unscathed, have some damage been done to its head. "Good job buddy…Your action won't got to waste."
Reaching into his pocket, he chose his next pokemon carefully, throwing out his delirbird, Bliza. "Bliza, your up next, lets show Lugia we'er not kidding around alright." The bird pokemon would node to its trainer and smirk. For its first action, its trainer and it would lock eyes, as Leavan would simply flash his glasses, giving a cryptic command, as the pokemon would copy the order, its eyes glowing with psychic power, which would then die down as it ended its action. In retaliation, desperate to prevent them from attacking it, Lugia would rush forward, this time launching a grey orb or light at Delibird. Leavan recognized this move, weather ball, as it slammed into delirbird, sending it flying towards the water, as it would stop itself, already panting as it shrugged off the power of the move. Leavan would command delibird to continually pile on the damage however sending it forward at Lugia.
"Lets go,use drill peck, hit with everything you have!" The pokemon complied immediately spinning bursting forward into Lugia's stomach with rotating force as it beakstruck, the legendary pokemon would roar angrily, responding with a powerful hydropump, sending delibird flying into wall, and in dire condition, as Leavan returned it, before going to his next pokemon with no hesitation.
"Alright Fritz, your up, lets give em hell!"
The sneasel immediately would jump out of its ball, rushing forward with blinding speed, as it would blitz Lugia, being able to act first on it trainer's command. "Lets go with throat chop! Strike its neck!" The sneasel had no hesitation, jumping up to Lugia, who before it could even attempt to fire off a aeroblast was struck at its throat, dealing heavy damage as the beam would be fired wildly, nearly hitting Leavan, who jumped out of the way.
"Woah! Lets be more careful Fritz! Followup with beatup! Everyone, come out!" In a rallying screech, Fritz would call out the whole team, summoning the pokemon Leavan had with him at the moment, Delirbird, Flygon, Torkoal and Cacnea, and together, they all assault Lugia, rushing forward to overtake it. Safe to say, due to its tired nature, the sea guardian was unprepared for being outnumbered, as the pokemon would overwhelm it, sending into a retreat, distancing itself. As everyone would return to their balls, Sneasel would congratulate itself, smirking to its traine rconfidently.
"Yeah, good job buddy, now lets end it with-" In an instant, confidence would fade as Lugia would slam into Sneasel, striking it with a critical dragon rush that sent it flying into a wall, fainting. As the pokemon fell, its trainer would return it quickly, his eyes widening in alarm. "Damn….thought we had it there…."
Leavan tensed up with worry. He felt it, the hopelessness ofthe situation, as Lugia stared him down. The pokemon was strong, far too strong, and he was unsure how to defeat it. He would need strategy, something else to bring it down. And that's when he realized what he needed to do. Taking out his next pokemon, he hoped this would end the battle, as he took out Piny, his Cacnea. "Piny, you've got this! Lets go!" The cacnea would shiver and look at Lugia with fear, almost being overcome with dread. It would begin to tear up, running back to its trainer, who embrace it calmly. "Its alright pal, I'm here with you. You know I can't do this without you, and you without me. So…" Picking up the small pokemon and holding it in his arms, the trainer would face it towards Lugia, grinning.
"Lets kick this guardians salty ass."
The pokemon, looking at its trainer, would nod in renewed vigor, and pointing forward to charge, Leavan began giving commands, as Lugia attempted to fire off an aeroblast. "Piny, disable that attack before it can hit us!" The cacnea would raise an arm, and with a flash of light, Lugia's aeroblast would not happen, canceled out by Cacnea's disable. It would rage, roaring out in anger as it would try following up with hydro pump, which traveled towardsthe trainer and pokemon. As the blast struck, Lugia's eyes widened in surprise as, both pokemon and trainer would come out unscathed, with no damage sustained. Leavan simply smirked. He was truly lucky to have pokemon like Cacnea, who could absorb water sent towards it.
Cacnea would rejoice, having avoided its fate, as Stacey brought it back to reality again. "Piny, we'er not done just yet, lets focus! Use spikes!" In an instant, the cacnea would raise its arm into the air, shooting out many polished pines across the floor and water surface of the cave, as Lugia would fire off another aeroblast, only for trainer and pokemonto dodge it barely. As it prepared to fire off weather ball into retaliation, Leavan smirked, and would smile in confidence. "Alright Piny, this is it! Lets use disable now! Time to end this!" With a shining light, Cacnea would cast disable, and alongside cast out Lugia's weather ball, would also cause the entire cavern to light up due to its shiny spines all over the floor. Lugia would become enamored with the light of the pines, which glowed a silver similar to its beloved bell and wing.
In desperation, it flew around looking for it across the ground. That was, until it heard a jingle in the distance, with a voice it had almost forgotten. "Hey, I'm still here." It turned around, and there the lightwas, shining brightly from the hands of that human. It would roar in desperation and anger, threatening Leavan almost. "Looking for this? Then come and get it."
The pokemon burst forwards, towards him, using dragon rage to boost itself. Witha grin, he would throw the bell into the air right above himself, and in an instant, the sea guardian following, curving upward, a hair's length away from colliding with him. The dragon rage aura would fade, as it would try not to harm its relic, which was almost in its grasp. Reaching for it, the pokemon would extend its neck, attempting touch the bell with its face, and right before it was in its grasp, a unseen psychic force, the future sight attack from Delibird many moments before, would strike it, and cause Lugia to lose its balance and fall, now succumbing to its own weakness. As it fell towards Leavan, the trainer would simply take out a pokeball, and right before lugia would land on him, he faced the ball skyward, allowing Lugia to hit the button and become entrapped in it. Closing the ball, he smirked, and congratulated himself, as it shook once and clicked.
CAPTURE COMPLETE
"Great…and that's it. Whew." Leavan sighed and looked around. It was time to get out of here.
Walking back to the entrance, he sensed the storm had stopped brewing and the whirlpools had calmed down. He sighed, and would besilent to mourn the loss of those on the ship, seeing a piece of debris float by, before having his moment interrupted by the sound of voices yelling out to him. He looked around, and before him, were almost all passengers from the ship, fairly unharmed. It was unbelievable, as rescue crews would be around the area, helping people escape bodies of land. Looking around, Leavan would smile at the pokeball in his hand containing Lugia. Even now, he did remember a certain passage he read about Lugia. 'Kind and strong, it lives in solitude, and will protect those on the open sea unlucky enough to fall into its storm...' Taking out the bell, he rang it, causing the pokeball to softly shake in his hand, with affectionate approval. "Heh, guess you aren't such a bad guardian after all. Take a good rest buddy, you deserve it…"
And so, taking a seat on the soft sand of the ancient islands, our tale ends, as our hero awaits the coming of a proper rescue crew to bring him and his new pokemon home….
