"Uh, Isaac, you and Alara?" Gordon whispered, which he was astounded he could actually do. He just assumed Isaac had one volume.
"It appears you are reading my memory core," Isaac stated.
"Not intentionally, it just came up. I was so surprised, I almost crashed the shuttle," Gordon explained.
"Understandable, you are not used to being in my enclosure. I had not intended to divulge that information, but now that you are aware..." Isaac continued with what he had in mind.
Gordon laughed. "You're bad, but when that's done, we go full disclosure."
He opened the hatch and went back to carry a wounded Moclan in a makeshift stretcher off the shuttle and transferred him onto an awaiting portable med table.
Alara saw whom she assumed was Isaac and ran up to him, suppressing her urge to show how she feels, and asked Gordon, "Isaac, are you okay?"
Gordon felt a pang of guilt, but then realized who she asked about and also who she didn't. He was a bit miffed, so he played it out. "Are you not concerned with the welfare of Lieutenant Malloy, a well-respected member of this crew who was in the same perilous situation as I, Lieutenant Kitan?" Now it was his turn to be a little over the top.
Alara looked gobsmacked, and to Gordon's delight, had the decency to look ashamed as she responded, "Yes, of course I'm concerned, Isaac. Is he alright?"
Isaac just walked up to them, and mimicking Gordon, announced "yeah, I'm good, thanks for asking. Well, I guess you two can't wait to get together for some personal connecting, huh?" He started to walk on while at the same time moving his hands in a back and forth coupling motion that looked vaguely obscene. Gordon wondered where he got that from.
"You told him about us?" Alara asked Gordon, who could barely hold it together. Somehow his body did not betray him, but he was sure it would be shaking as he barely restrained his laughter.
He was simply going to answer "affirmative" but Isaac yelled out as he kept walking, "Oh yeah, he comes to me for advice!"
Alara stared at whom she thought was Gordon, then at Gordon, whom she thought was Isaac, and who was dying by this point! He could barely contain himself and feeling he was apparently given the go-ahead by Isaac, responded, "correct! I describe to him in full detail our encounters, and answer any and all of his questions that come up. In turn he gives me what you would call 'tips' on how to improve our next encounter."
"Why would you do that?" Alara looked shocked, was almost quivering.
"Because he asked me to. The lieutenant and I are buds." 'I can't keep this up,' Gordon thinks, waiting for Alara to catch on that something was off after the "buds" thing.
Apparently not registering what Gordon just said, Alara just stares at him, mouth open, aghast. A group of people have gathered around to witness this event.
Gordon can't contain himself any longer. Everyone gathered there was treated to the sight and sound of the person they thought was Isaac laughing. The sound is raucous, but infectious, everyone except Alara chuckling, then laughing as "Isaac" continues laughing, saying "Oh, God" multiple times and pounding the wall next to him, denting it slightly.
Only the sight of Alara quivering, and Isaac running to her side causes him to cease laughing and stare at her. Although he has no blood, Gordon feels somehow the sensation of being red faced with shame. He sees what was him and is now Isaac with tears in his eyes, and a look of profound regret.
"God damn you!" she cried and pounded him. His first instinct was to cringe but she hit him before it registered. He realized it didn't affect him physically other than a slight jolt and immediately grabbed her and held her close.
The action shocked her into silence, and just as she was about to demand he let her go, she heard the most sorrowful voice she ever heard come from the Kaylon artificial lifeform construct crying, "Oh, God, Alara, I'm sorry. It's me, Gordon, I'm so sorry, shit, fuck. Oh, God! It's me, fuckup Gordon, I talked Isaac into this, please, none of it's true. Fuck!"
"That is incorrect, Lieutenant, I have also been complicit. I understand if you don't forgive me, I can only explain that my being transferred into a biological may have affected my judgement. In fact, Lieutenant Malloy expressed reservations, but I assured him it would be amusing. I am very sorry. In fact, I actually believe I feel the sorrow."
"I went along with it, Isaac." Everyone there was stunned as they listened to that exchange. "And I went too far, like I always do."
Gordon let her go and they just stood there. He may not have the face to express remorse but his body sure did. It was almost painful to watch. He feels he lost a good friend, possibly forever. He said to Isaac, "come on Isaac, we have to see the captain."
"Agreed, lieutenant, perhaps someone should..."
Gordon hit a comm button, "Isaac to medical, please send someone to the shuttle bay to look after Lieutenant Kitan." After receiving an affirmation, he replied. "Thank you." He felt it would waste time to explain who he really was over the comm line.
Alara just stood there, shaken, trying to process what just happened. After someone from medical arrived, the red headed man and the artificial construct left the shuttle bay.
