Gil Gordon Interview

JW: Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to anybody seeing this. My name is Josh Wright and today I have a very exciting treat for you guys as tonight's guest has been on our TV screens as kids for over a decade. Our guest today is the one and only Gil Gordon.

JW: For those of you that don't know who this guy is. Basically, Gil got his start in acting in film and television around late 2007 and had some small roles. In 2010, Gil got his big break when he got the part playing Greg Heffley on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid trilogy. Gil had gotten a lot more attention from the Wimpy Kid movies and was great in all three films.

JW: While filming the second movie titled "Rodrick Rules." in 2011. Gil received a gig at Nickelodeon where he would be the host of the show. That show would be Bubble Guppies and like the Wimpy Kid movies was a big success. Gil hosted the show alongside Molly Gentilella and was on the show with Goby Imani, Deema Wahler, Oona Shaskan, and Nonny Pirruccello.

JW: After four seasons in 2016 Nickelodeon announced that Bubble Guppies would be taking a break and the possibility of Season 5 was very slim. Until 2019 the show was revived but the biggest change was that Gil Gordon announced he wouldn't return for the new season.

JW: After a long introduction here is the man of the hour Gil Gordon. Thank you for being here today sir.

Gil: Thanks for having me on today and that was quite a long introduction my friend.

JW: That's my job (laughs) anyways so I mean a very successful career right there and how does it feel that this is how your life has changed ?

Gil: Well, of course this is how I'm known by people. I get recognized all the time in grocery stores, restaurants. I'll be out walking in Central Park in New York and people will come up to me and say how much Bubble Guppies meant to them. Parents come up to me and say they watch the show and think I'm the funniest character on the show.

JW: Doesn't it upset you or anything when people see you in public ? Because I've seen other celebrities saying they found it annoying.

Gil: Well I mean you gotta remember that we're people too and we are gonna have rough days. Sometimes it can be annoying, but they're not 100% in the wrong or anything. It's just they saw someone famous and they want to chat with them about their favorite show or movie they worked on. Or how much I mean to people is nice to hear.

JW: Moving on to the next question, do you have any new projects you are working on at the moment ?

Gil: Well of course since I left the Bubble Guppies I haven't really done too much. But last year I got to work on a new western movie with Goby Imani which was so much fun. When I started working on the movie neither one of us knew that we would be working together. Until, I got to meet some of the cast and crew for the movie. It was very exciting getting to see him again and doing what we enjoy.

JW: I've always wondered what a western movie would be like with you and Goby. What's the movie called again ? I still need to watch it.

Gil: It's called "Wyoming Skies" and we just finished filming the movie.

JW: I've always enjoyed the old school western movies with John Wayne in them.

Gil: I have too, and they're both a lot different and fun to film. I know this sounds repetitive but it's definitely a lot different than other projects that I've been a part of. Another thing too, if you watch the movie I think this character is the one I've been the most broken into.

JW: Well Gil, if you don't mind we are going to take a small break and then we'll talk about your career before Bubble Guppies, what you did while you were on Bubble Guppies, and just talk about life after you left the group.

Gil: Sounds good Mr. Wright.

JW: Don't go anywhere. My interview with former Bubble Guppies star Gil Gordon continues after the break.
