Chapter 3: Honey's Transformation

Agent BM: You got that right

Honey quickly hurried into the girls' room. After making sure no one else was in there, she opened her purse, and Buzz, Bumble, and Stinger flew out.

"Did you guys hear all that?" she asked them.

"We heard it." said Buzz.

"I can't believe, that guy pushed your purse so hard." replied Bumble.

"So what should I do? That guy wants to me to tutor him and in exchange he's gonna get me friends."

"I say you should go for it." Stinger told her.

"What?"

"Think about it, Honey." Buzz said.

"This could be your chance to make new friends, and not be alone all the time."

"Well that is a point, but I'm still not sure."

"Come on, Honey. What have you got to lose?" Bumble questioned.

Honey thought about it, and then replied,

"Well maybe it wouldn't hurt."

She had her bees go back in her purse, and left the bathroom.

Back in the library, Zeke was still waiting.

"What could be taking her so long?" he asked himself.

Then Honey came back up to him.

"Okay, Zeke. I've thought about it, and I'll do it." she told him.

"Great, first thing's first, let's see what you know."

So after school they made plans to do some studying. Honey used a payphone to call her parents, and told them that she'd be staying after. When the final bell rang, Honey gathered her books, and went to the library with Zeke.

"Okay, are you ready to get started?" she asked him.

"You bet." Zeke replied.

So first she went over proper ways to make sentences, then helped him understand the novel they were reading, and helped him with a worksheet.

"Well thanks for the help, Honey."

"It was no problem."

"So now it's time for me to hold up my end. So what do you say this Saturday we head to the mall?"

"Sure, I can have my mom drop me off."

"Great, I'll see you there at 10."

Then they both went their separate ways.

At home, Honey informed her parents about her plans. Trevor and Wanda were happy to hear that.

"That's wonderful, Honey." said Wanda.

"So glad you'll be getting out on a Saturday." added Trevor.

"I've gone out on Saturdays." Honey defended.

"Yes, but this time you'll be with your peer." he reminded.

Honey just rolled her eyes, and went to her room.

"You know, Honey, this is a good thing." said Buzz.

"You really think so?"

"Yeah, who knows what this Zeke guy can show you." added Stinger.

"And plus, Zeke's kinda cute." mentioned Bumble.

They all looked at her.

"Bumble, you're a bee." Honey reminded.

When Saturday came, Wanda dropped Honey off at the mall, and she went inside. She looked around, but didn't see him. She was just about to put her headsets on, when someone snatched them off.

Scared that she was being mugged, Honey quickly turned around, but she saw Zeke.

"Hey there, Honey." he greeted.

"Oh, Zeke it's just you."

"Yep, and you won't be wearing these today."

"What?"

"Honey, you can't live your whole life wearing these, today they're staying in your purse."

He handed them to her, and reluctantly Honey put them in her purse.

"Good, now we can get started."

And he led her further into the mall. Honey had both hands on her purse straps, being a little nervous. This wasn't the first time she'd been shopping before, but this was her first time shopping with a guy.

Zeke took her into a store and told her to pick something out.

"I'll try, but don't expect much." said Honey.

"At least get a jacket or shoes or something not black and yellow." Zeke replied.

Honey first browsed through some shoes. As much as she liked her boots, it would be nice to have something different. She found some slip on shoes that would fit and chose that, before grabbing a jean jacket off a rack.

It was very simple but it's what she was looking for, she didn't want anything too flashy, and she knew her mom could stitch a bumblebee on one of the pockets later. She knew Zeke wouldn't like that, but these were to be her clothes.

She didn't feel comfortable changing her yellow shirts just yet, so she didn't bother looking for shirts. After paying, she put her boots in the shopping bag and tried on her new shoes and jacket, rolling the sleeves up halfway up her arms.

"Well what do you think?"

"Not bad, it's a start at least. People will definitely notice you're trying something different. Ever consider letting your hair down?"

"If you don't mind, I'd rather keep my ponytail up, I like it actually. But there is something I've always wanted to do."

She told Zeke she wanted to get her ears pierced so she could wear earrings, but was always scared to go through with it, but now she wanted to finally do it. They went to a kiosk in the mall, and Zeke held her down as little black dots were drawn on Honey's ears.

"You'll be okay, Honey." said Zeke.

Honey closed her eyes and gripped the armrests as two holes were punched in her ears. She winced at the pain, but liked the two simple earrings she now sported, she couldn't wait to get more in the future.

"Was that so bad?" Zeke asked.

"Not too bad." said Honey.

"So what do you say, we get some lunch?"

"Sure, sounds good."

And they headed for the food court. Leah and Madison were in another store, when Leah spotted Honey and Zeke.

"Uh, Madison what is Zeke doing with the nerdy bumblebee?" asked Leah.

Madison quickly looked out, and saw the two together. She couldn't believe her eyes.

At the food court, Zeke treated Honey to pizza. As Honey ate her pizza, she couldn't help but notice that Zeke was pretty handsome. Zeke was nice enough to escort Honey home before sunset afterwards.

"Thanks for today. And don't forget, our next session is tomorrow at the library don't forget." said Honey.

"I'll remember. See you."

And he drove off. When she got inside, she told her parents about her experience.

"It sounds like you had a good time Honey." Trevor told her.

"We're so proud of you. And I see you've got your ears pierced. You look so pretty." added Wanda.

"Thanks, Mom. Do you think you could do some alterations to my new jacket?" Honey requested.

"Of course."

As Honey lied in bed that night, she thought that maybe going to school the next day in her new look would be pretty good. And she was also looking forward to seeing Zeke tomorrow.
