Chapter 7: The Dance
Agent BM: You got that right.
Over the next few days, Honey continued to avoid Zeke. She refused to speak to him, accept any offers to go out anywhere, and turned down any gifts he tried to give her. She was too busy with schoolwork, her job, and friends.
At school one day, Honey was with her friends, and she had told them what Zeke had done to her.
"I can't believe it." one of her friend said.
"What a jerk." added another.
"It's okay guys." Honey replied.
"You know Honey, we're going to go dress shopping for the dance on Saturday."
"If you still want to go you can come with us."
Honey didn't know if she wanted to still wanted to go to the dance.
"I'll have to think about it." Honey told them.
At home, Honey sat on bed trying to decide what to do.
"I think you should go to the dance, Honey." said Buzz.
"Why should I?"
"Well for one thing all your friends will be there." Bumble told her.
"But Zeke will probably be there."
"You shouldn't let that stop you from having a good time." Stinger instructed.
"Honey, you've really changed since your old school. To back out now would be throwing it all away." Buzz reminded.
Honey got up, and walked over to the mirror. She looked at herself, and thought about all the stuff she'd done, and how she'd changed. She was no longer the weird quiet introverted nerd, but now she was a cute nerdy girl.
"You're right, guys." she declared.
Honey then got on the phone, and called her friends.
So that Saturday, Honey and her friends went to the mall to do some dress shopping. Honey looked around the store, trying to decide what dress she wanted.
"Hmm, what dress is more me?" she thought.
While all the dresses were pretty, but nothing was really jumping out of her. Then she spotted one. It was a simple yet nice, the straps were thin, the color was gold, and it was covered with clear beads.
"This is perfect."
After buying the dress and some matching shoes, Honey and her friends left. But little did they know, they were being watched. Vincent, Leah, Madison, and Ethan were scowling at Honey.
"Something needs to be done to that girl." sneered Ethan.
"It'll serve her right for stealing my Zeke." added Madison.
"Guys, I think I know what should be done." said Vincent.
During school on Monday, Zeke was just at his locker getting his stuff. Since he stopped hanging out with his group, he'd become a loner, and he had to admit it didn't feel good. He spotted Honey hanging out with her new friends.
"There must be a way I can make her forgive me." he said to himself.
Then suddenly, he got an idea. The second school was over, Zeke got in his car, and drove to the video game store. After buying what he wanted, he went home.
On Friday, all the kids were excited about the dance the next day. Before her next class, Honey was getting her things, when she saw something in her locker. It was a medium sized box shaped item covered in yellow wrapping paper and had a green bow on it.
"What the?" she asked confused.
She took it out, and saw there was a note attached to it.
"Dear Honey, I know you hate me right now, but I'm really really sorry about what I did to you. I got this for you as a peace offering. Please consider forgiving me, because I really miss you." From, Zeke." she read.
Curious, Honey tore open the paper, and couldn't believe her eyes. It was the game boy she wanted.
"Oh my gosh." she whispered.
Honey was very touched, no one except her parents had ever done anything like this before. While she was touched by the kind gesture, she wasn't so sure she could truly forgive him. She put the game boy back in her locker, and left. Zeke was watching from a distance, and saw what had happened.
"(Sighs), I knew I should've got her a game too." he grumbled.
As he walked past some stairs, he overheard some familiar voices. He looked down, and saw his old friends.
"So everyone know the plan?" asked Vincent.
"Right, we get Honey to stand in this spot here, and then I'll get everyone's attention, and after I give the signal Ethan will drop the bucket full of honey on her, and then Leah will dump a bag of feathers on her, and then Honey will be a laughing stock in front of the whole school." said Madison.
Zeke couldn't believe his ears. He had no idea the people he used to call "friends" could be so cruel.
"I've got to stop this."
And he quickly hurried away.
When Saturday night came, Wanda helped Honey get ready. She did her hair, and her makeup, and helped her put on her dress. When she was finished, Honey looked at herself in the mirror, and couldn't believe her eyes.
She looked like a different person, her hair was in a high ponytail, her face was all made up with makeup, and her dress looked better on her than in the store.
"You look gorgeous sweetie." Wanda complimented.
"Thanks, Mom." Honey replied.
Suddenly there was a knock on her bedroom door.
"Everyone decent in there?" asked Trevor.
"You can come in Dad."
Trevor came in with his camera in hand.
"You look beautiful, Honey. It's time for your photo shoot."
Downstairs Honey posed as her parents snapped pictures.
"Okay, now we better get you to the ball." Wanda informed.
"Oh wait, I forgot my purse." Honey told.
She hurried upstairs, and into her room. Buzz, Bumble, and Stinger flew over to her.
"Wow, Honey you look great." said Buzz.
"Like a princess." added Bumble.
"You're like a whole different person." Stinger told her.
"Thanks guys." Honey replied smiling.
At the school, everyone flocked to the gym. Inside the main lights were off but small flashing lights were going off, the walls were decorated with colored yet transparent balloons and streamers.
On the sides were tables. One was filled with cakes, pigs in blankets, veggie sticks with ranch dressing, a fruit platter, and bowls of punch. The other table had disposable cameras, party favors, and accessories.
And music filled the room, as the patrons danced. Honey arrived with her friends, and was amazed at the scene.
"Wow, so this is a high school dance." Honey observed.
"Ready to have the night of your life?" asked one of her friends.
"You bet."
And they joined the fun.
Zeke showed up a minute later in a nice black suit. He quickly looked around for either Honey or his old friends. He saw Honey having fun with her friends on one side of the gym, which was good because that means nothing had happened yet.
Then he started looking for the others. He made his way through the crowd, and managed to find Madison. Luckily she didn't see him, and he was able to follow her. He followed her to the others, and saw them whispering to each other.
Obviously they were about to start their plan, so Zeke had to act fast. He saw Madison leave the group, and quickly followed her. Honey and her friends were happily dancing around on the dance floor, when Madison came up.
"Hey, Honey." she greeted.
Honey turned around, and was surprised to see her.
"Madison, what do you want?"
"I just wanted to apologize that my friends and I were mean to you."
Honey was surprised to hear that.
"Come on, I have something to show you."
She urged Honey to follow her, and Honey did. Zeke saw that the plan was starting, and sprang into action. Madison led Honey to the spot, and signaled Vincent to stop the music. He did, and everyone grew confused.
"Attention everyone!" announced Madison.
Everyone looked towards her and Honey.
"We have a very special guest tonight, Honey Potts." Madison introduced.
A light shined on Honey, and she smiled and waved shyly. Zeke quickly made his way through the other students, trying to get to Honey.
"And I wanted to show her, what girls like her get when they step out of their place."
Honey was confused as to what she meant by that. Madison gave the signal to Ethan, who came running with a bucket filled with honey. Zeke then sprang into action, he ran up to Ethan, and rammed him. Ethan ended up falling, and the bucket flew into the air, and the honey ended up covering Madison.
"What the!?" Madison cried.
She waved her hands around, but Leah mistook that as the signal to throw the feathers. She came out to carry out the task, but Zeke quickly grabbed Honey's wrist pulled her out of the way.
The feathers ended up covering Madison. Not believing what had just happened, Madison let out a piercing scream.
"What's going on here?" Honey asked confused.
"That's what I'd like to know." added the principal coming over to the scene.
Zeke ended up telling Honey and the principal everything. Madison, Ethan, Leah, and Vincent were kicked out of the dance, their parents would be called, and they were going to be suspended for a week.
Honey was surprised that Zeke turned against his own friends.
"It seems he really does care about you." one of Honey's friends told her.
Honey looked back at Zeke, who was just finishing up talking with the principal. She began to think, maybe she'd been too harsh with Zeke. He did help her, gotten her nice gifts, and even saved her from complete humiliation.
When the principal left, Honey went over to him.
"Zeke."
"Honey, are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. Thanks for what you did."
"It's the least I could do. I couldn't let those guys hurt you like that."
Honey smiled warmly at him. Then the DJ started to play "Inspiration". And couples started to slow dance together.
"Hey, this is that song that you like." Zeke observed.
"Yeah...you wanna dance?" Zeke smiled at her, and offered her his hand.
Honey took it, and they went to to the dance floor. Zeke put his hands on Honey's waist and Honey put her arms around his neck. They swayed around, and looked at each other. Zeke pulled her in closer, and Honey began to feel so comfortable, that she put her head on his chest.
When they looked at each other they stared deeply into each other's eyes. And the next thing they knew, their lips touched in magical kiss.
The End
