Chapter 9: Ten-Hut, Charcadet's on the move
Our group of heroes were continuing on their way to Cortondo, where some of them will take on the first gym leader of Paldea, which they learned was named Katy, an expert chef and bug type specialist. "So Mr. Ash, what do you plan on doing when we arrive at Corondo?" Vanny asked, to which Ash replied with "Well I plan on taking on the gym leader."
"Well while we're there, I'm gonna stock up on some supplies for sandwiches, believe me, you'll want to get a taste of them" Arven stated as he was walking along while admiring the scenery of the canyons" "Yeah" said Vanny in agreement "We could use some more charcoal right about now."
As they continued on, they began to smell something. "Hey, do you guys smell that?" Gus said while sniffing at the air "Yeah, I an smell it too" Carly said, confirming Gus' claims. "Kinda smells like... burning" Thomas said "Do you think there's a burning tree around here?" "I doubt it, there are hardly any trees around here" Zeke said "Then what's making that scent?" Felia asked to herself.
That was when they saw something fly past them and slam into the nearby cliff face, before sliding down in pain. The Pokemon was a humanoid creature that was red and black in color, with a puff of flame coming out of its head another flame acting as a tail of sorts. It's head looks a bit like a helmet and it had red eyes with orange pupils.
"Its a Charcadet!" Nemona cried out as she ran over to it. Ash looked up the Pokemon's data on his Rotom Phone.
Charcadet: The Fire Child Pokemon, a fire type
Burnt charcoal came to life and became this Pokemon, its firepower increases when it fights, reaching beyond 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit
"Poor thing looks hurt, that impact must have taken the wind out of him" Zeke said as Nemona treated the wild fire type. But before Nemona could wrap some bandages around the wounds, Charcadet shot up and shot an Ember attack towards the group. "I don't think it's in the mood for pleasantries" Arven stated as he stepped back, but Nemona persisted and tried to reason with it. "Come on little guy, I'm only trying to help ya, just hold still for me" Nemona tried to calm down the fire type, but it still glared at her. But when a jolt of pain shot through its leg, Nemona seized her chance and wrapped Charcadet's leg in the bandages. "There we go, that should make that injury heal more nicely" Nemona stated.
"I'm not sure Charcadet appreciates that gesture" Carla stated as she pointed to Charcadet's glaring face. "Geez, what's this fella's problem, he seems to be such a grouch" Penny pondered.
"I guess we just have to find out" Ash proclaimed as he then had his Pikachu converse with the wild fire type. They both made a series of sounds and gestures that didn't really make sense to anyone except Ash. After that was done, Pikachu went back to Ash and explained what was going on.
"I see, so Charcadet has a rival somewhere around here that he keeps losing to" Ash said, putting the pieces together. "Well, that Charcadet won't be able to beat them on their own" Gus proclaimed "Agreed, this fella needs some help" Vanny said.
"This calls for some training" Nemona proclaimed as she sent out her Lycanroc. "What better way for a fire type to get stronger than to face another that it's weak against." "I'm not sure Nemona, maybe we should start off with the fella facing another fire type, like Fuecoco" Ash said as he sent out his fire croc Pokemon.
The two then started a battle, where they shot Embers at each other, trying to one up each other in any possible way. Charcadet eventually grew fed up and fired a Night Shade at Fuecoco, nailing him right in the stomach.
Fuecoco got back up, not at all happy with being hit, and caught Charcadet rushing towards him with a Flame Charge attack. But Fuecoco then let out a startling cry that forced Charcadet to cover his ears and cancel the attack.
"Was that Disarming Voice?" Vanny said out loud.
"That sure looked like it" Ash answered as Fuecoco stopped Charcadet in his tracks before pushing him back with a Snarl attack. This left Charcadet's ears ringing and down for the count. "I think that should be enough for now" Nemona replied as she walked over to Charcadet. But the stubborn fire type refused to take five and rushed towards Fuecoco and slammed into him with a Flame Charge and engulfed him in a Fire Spin.
"Charcadet, that's enough!" Nemona shouted, trying to grab hold of the little fire child, but this made him thrash and struggle even more to get to Fuecoco, whom was now knocked out.
"Fuecoco, return!" Ash said as he recalled his fire type. "You need to get that attitude of yours under control Charcadet, that was a cheap shot you did back there" Nemona scolded, but this didn't sit well with Charcadet, and he shot an Ember attack in her face out of anger. "Yeesh, talk about a sore loser" Felia muttered as Charcadet then ran off into the bushes.
"We gotta go after him, he's gonna get himself hurt" Thomas shouted as he and his Shroodle ran after him "He's got a point, who knows what will happen" Arven stated as he ran behind him.
The entire class ran after Charcadet, in hopes that they can find him before he can get any more hurt. Eventually, they found Charcadet, with multiple injuries all over his body, being held down by a larger version of him one that had bluish flames and edged armor plating. "What is that Pokemon?" Ash said as he brought out his Rotom Phone.
Ceruledge: The Fire Blades Pokemon, a fire and ghost type
Their fiery blades burn fiercely with the resentment of a sword wielder who couldn't accomplish their goal.
"That's bad" Carla whimpered as Ceruledge charged up a Solar Blade to finish this one-sided battle. However, Lycanroc jumped into action and parried the blade with his Drill Run attack, saving Charcadet. Ceruledge was taken aback by the new player in the game, but was not dissuaded and prepared his Bitter Blade attack. This was then countered by Veluza's Aqua Cutter attack before Ceruledge was slammed by Orthworm's Iron Tail.
Ceruledge performed a Swords Dance to raise his attack to even the odds, but Vivillon managed to inflict a paralysis on him with her Stun Spore, leaving him open to attack from Charadet, whom hit him with Night Shade. This only angered Ceruledge as his power grew even more from his rage and it started to swing his Shadow Claw attack, which managed to hit Orthworm, and then burn it with Incinerate. Dodonzo however managed to land a powerful Water Pulse attack to get its attention, but this was just a distraction.
Clodsire then fired a Mud Shot that struck him in the back, covering him in mud, leaving him wide open to Charcadet's finishing attack, a Night Shade that struck on target, knocking him out.
"Phew, that was intense" Nemona breathed out as she wiped the sweat form her brow "And we didn't need Ash's help that time" Gus mentioned.
They then went back to their campsite where they treated Charcadet and Fuecoco's wounds. Charcadet eventually made amends with Fuecoco, and it then approached Nemona, whom understood what it wanted. "So you want to join my team huh?" To which Charcadet nodded. Without wasting a heartbeat, Characadet tapped a pokeball on the fire type, catching it.
"Alright, I caught a Charcadet!" She shouted as she held the pokeball she use to catch Charcadet. "Wow, she's starting to take after me" Ash muttered as he treated his Fuecoco.
