It had been a month since the Tenrou team returned and it was quiet, even Natsu was getting bored. Most of the guild members were either bored or relaxing, all but one member: Lucy. Her father passed away a week ago so she was still mourning. Natsu remembered one event that happened a couple of days later.
"Lucy" Kagura said
"Oh hey Kagura" Lucy said
"You don't have to be here, you know you could go home and have a couple of days by yourself" Kagura gently said
"But" Lucy said before she clutched onto Kagura before crying
"It's okay, no one is going to judge you" Kagura said
"I just miss him" she cried
"I know your pain, for it is the same pain I feel when I thought of my brother Simon after his passing" Kagura softly said "And if you need to talk to me
"Thank you Kagura" Lucy said. That moment seared itself in Natsu's memory as one of the only time his happy go lucky team mate was in tears. And unfortunately none of them could go anything against the ravages of age.
Suddenly the doors opened as a messenger walked in, seeing this the guild started to lightly tap their mugs on the tables making the Tenrou team confused. Natsu walked over
"Master Dragneel, it's time" the messenger said "I hope everyone is ready" as the tapping became banging and cheers of excitement before Natsu quieted them down.
"Sounds like we are" Natsu smiled as he was handed a scroll and a letter, he looked at the letter and frowned knowing it was guild business sent from their member in the palace "Thank you"
"Anytime Master Dragneel" the messenger bowed and walked out of the guild
"Is it time, please tell us its time master!" Zephyr shouted
"Time?" Wendy asked "For what?"
"The grand magic games!" Aridos shouted as he drank from his mug.
"What's that?" Levy asked
"A gathering of guilds to determine the best in the KINGDOM!" Zephyr said
"Really?" Gajeel smirked
"Yeah, there is a giant labyrinth that makes so only eight guilds can compete over a five day event" Natsu said
"It's mostly games, but there are a few fights" Macao said
"Like that time the Sabers tried to mess with us and it became a guild vs. guild brawl!" Haley sighed
"Sabers?" Wendy asked
"Sabertooth, the current top guild in Fiore' Bisca spat
"Not for long" Natsu cheered "This year Fairy Tail is something that it hasn't been in a long time: Whole!" he said making everyone in the guild "For seven long years while we gain new members we have fought for the top spot, having it taken by Laminas, Pegasusae, Mermaids and now Overgrown cats with cutlery for teeth. We have some of the greatest wizards here in this very guild hall! Including seven dragon slayers, two celestial wizards, three magic makers, Takeover users, Gildarts. Together we will finally make them understand YOU DO NOT MESS WITH FAIRY TAIL!" he gave a speech "And I don't know about all of you, but me...I'M ALL FIRED UP!" he shouted as the guild was cheering loudly. Smiling Natsu headed off to his office.
Natsu frowned as he sat at his desk reading the message from the member of the guild in the capital
"Shit!" was all Natsu said
"that can't be good" Kagura frown upon entering. Natsu gave her the note "Are you serious, they're entering!" she exclaimed after reading it
"I know. Damn it!" Natsu exclaimed
"Raven Tail" Kagura sneered crushing the note, "Just what we need, you know they'll try and take us out alongside the Sabers"
"I know, DAMN!" Natsu said "How many times did I have to teach Ivan a lesson?" he growled, causing Kagura to give him a kiss.
"Too many times" Kagura said "So what's the plan, one massive team?"
"I don't know, either that one have a mix of new and old show up but have them swap out. Thankfully that potion will help us during that one game" Natsu sighed
"I'm sorry I can't join you. I promised my master that I will have one more Grand Magic Games with them" Kagura smiled
"Don't be, I'm just glad you decided to split your time between the two guilds for so long" Natsu sighed holding her on his lap.
"I know" Kagura said kissing him smiling.
"Alright guys line up" Natsu shouted as half of the Tenrou team met him outside while the new members joined him "Look, we have three months to get you guys up to our level, now I know you think you're powerful enough but these guys" he pointed to the new guys "a couple of you see them as replacements, I see them as protectors of your legacy, anyway these guys have competed in multiple games. Even Kagura has competed" he stated
"I take it she worked with Mermaid heel?" Erza asked
"Yeah, since she was just the liaison between our two guilds. Now who's first?" Natsu asked
"May as well" Grey said stepping up
"Fine; your opponent?" Natsu asked
"ICE MAKE HAMMER!" Grey shouted, making an ice hammer before grabbing it and bringing the hammer close to Natsu
"ARE YOU NUTS!" Lucy shouted, going for her keys when Haley stopped her as the hammer was caught by Natsu, melting as it was in his hand
"FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST!" Natsu cried out while throwing a fire covered fist, at the last second Grey had to dodge
"WHOA! easy flame brain I mean Master" Gray said
"Need to get you up to the others here Perv" Natsu said
"HEY!" Gray snapped as he charged an ice attack "ICE MAKE LAUNCHER!" making a large bazooka to fire at Natsu, who just smirked
"Here comes he's latest trick" Aridos said
"What trick?" Lucy asked before Natsu erupted into fire and lightning "WHOA!
"When did he?" Gajeel asked shocked.
"When he borrowed Laxus' powers to face down Hades" Erza reminded him "But still to call upon it"
"It's a powerful technique: Dual Dragon Slayer Mode" Aridos said
"Huh?" the Tenrou team asked
"Usually Dragon Slayers can devour only one type of elemental magic, the one they used. But in cases where they are pushed to their limits Dragon Slayer can devour a second element, mixing it with their own to become stronger, however it is unknown if a Dragon Slayer can use more than two elements" Magnus explained
"Yeah" Flurry said "But we do know it increases our power to that of Dragon Force level"
"Isn't that the ultimate Dragon Slayer Magic, where you partially turn into Dragons?" Lisana asked
"It is" Magnus nodded.
"Do you think?" Wendy started "I can learn both Dual element and Dragon Force?"
"Of course little breeze" Zephyr said walking out and ruffling her hair
"Can you two do the dual element thing?" Erza asked
"No" Aridos shook his head
"We haven't tried it" Magnus said
"At least not yet" Flurry said
"HEY LUCY!" Haley shouted "OVER HERE" She waved the blonde over
"So, what's up?" Lucy asked
"I wanted to show you my type of celestial magic" Haley said holding out some coins
"Coins?" Lucy confusingly asked
"Yeah, these guys while not being as big as your leys, packs no less than a punch, and there are more of them then the golden ones" Haley said
"Cool" Lucy said "so how do you?"
"Like this" Haley smiled flicking a coin into the air "Toll for the gate of the Red Tyranno" she called as the coin glowed and became a large red dinosaur like spirit
"Sup baby" Tyranno smirks before seeing Lucy "Is that...The Heartfillia girl?"
"Yeah, I am" Lucy smiled
"Thank goodness you're safe, now I don't have to hear Aquarius' moaning and whining that she hasn't been summoned by you, same with the others, heck I think Leo went stir crazy" Tyranno smiled
"I see, next time you see them, tell them I'm sorry" Lucy said
"Will do doll face" Tyranno smiled before his gate was closed
"reminds me of Taurus, so you use coins?" Lucy asked
"Yeah I do" Haley said "I have 18 out of 20"
"there's 20 of them?" Lucy asked
"Yeah" Haley nodded "I was a little girl probably 8 or 9 when I got Tyranno's coin. My father then told me about the star coins 20 beasts that had to be paid to come and fight, unlike those who fought along those who held keys"
"I see" Lucy nodded.
Meanwhile in the bar Markarov was starring at the bar.
"You okay Master?" Cana asked as she was lugging a barrel around
"You mean, besides the fact I'm stunned about how well Natsu has managed the guild, building connections and relationships with the other guilds" Makarov sighed
"Trust me, it was a big shock to us" Alzack said as he ordered an ale. "But we needed someone that wasn't going to just roll over at the sights of those looking o prey on us because you guys left. Like Twilight Ogre"
"Who?" Cana asked
"A bottom feeding guild that though because we lost you guys they were the next strongest guild for Magnolia. At that point no one even gave Natsu a second look because they figured he ws depressed. But when anyone picked a fight with us Natsu got fired up, especially during the Wizard Hunters" Bisca frowned
"A dark time for all guilds" Macao said
"So what do you think of these games?" Makarov said
"It will be interesting" Macao said
"So you hear, that those missing Fairy Tail members are back?" a blond haired young man said as he and his partner sat on some rocks in a valley somewhere
"So?" the man's partner asked
"Just saying, if Fairy Tail has been this powerful with half their members imagine all of them" the blonde smirked
"Sting, I don't think that will be a good thing, for all we know they have been dragging those who remained down" his partner sighed
"So what!" Sting snapped "What are you getting at Rogue?"
"So they may not be like they were in previous years" Rogue explained before using hi shadow magic to dispatch a bunch of enemies.
"Who cares, all that matters is we're in Sabertooth and we're the best" Sting smirked as he walked off "Come on Lector"
"You got it Sting" a red exceed said
"Let's go Froshce" Rogue said
"Okay" the green Exceed next to me dress as a frog said as they left.
"FIRE DRAGON: AZURE FLARE!" Natsu shouted unleashing a brilliant blue flame burst into the air
"Impressive" Erza said softly
"Oh, Erza good to see you" Natsu said as he exhaled
"I didn't realise you could do blue flames" Erza said walking over
"Just something I developed along with this" Natsu sighed as he pulled out his sword and twirled it around
"That's one of my swords" Erza noted
"Yeah, it's been handy, especially with this!" Natsu exclaimed as he heated the blade up "FIRE DRAGON: CRIMSON SABER!" he announced swinging the blade, making an arc of crimson flames which burnt a trial behind it
"Again Impressive" Erza said drawing a sword "Shall we, master?"
"We shall Erza" Natsu said taking a stance
"BEGIN!" the two wizard shouted as they started to duel each other. The clanging of their blade rang out loudly, a smile on their faces as they fought with each other like back in their training days
"I have to give Kagura a good deal of credit for many things, including your swordsmanship" Erza complimented him as she tried a final attack
"It was thanks to her and many of the others that...well" Natsu said
"I understand, it couldn't have been easy" Erza said putting a hand on his shoulder "But I assure you that those days are now over"
"I Agree, and now we'll show the kingdom that Fairy Tail is nothing to mess with!" he declared making Erza smile.
G'day Guys Grizz here and yeah this is the beginning of the games, nothing really of note here story wise that will ramp up next when I start the actual games arc with them arriving in Crocus and Natus having a talk with the guild member there and the two dragon slayers.
Now the reason I talked about the dual elemental dragon slayer magic is that one of the other slayers besides Gajeel and Natsu will get it, who I won't say for now but hopefully it will be a big impact when it happens. Next is Haley's magic being coins instead of keys. Well I can finally say this but Haley's celestial spirits are actually going to be inspired by the zords from Mighty Moprhin Power Rangers. Now this was decided a long time before the death of Jason David Frank (RIP Tommy) but that is just one of the many surprises that will come from this version of the games
