Chapter 18: The Stone Cliff Titan, and revelations
Ash and the gang were now making their way to the East Province, where they were greeted with rocky canyons and valleys surrounding them wherever they look.
"Wow, these cliffs are so large!" Felia said in awe, with Vanny replying with "I'm sure my Orthworm would love digging around here." Ash then saw how Arven was looking around with an unusually large amount of vigilance.
"Geez Arven, you seem more alert than usual" Ash stated, which Arven replied with "I have that feeling that the titan is here." "What did you say about titan?" Nemona asked "I'm referring to the Stony Cliff Titan, found here in this book" Arven replied while showing them a page with what appears to be a sort of plant.
"Umm, that doesn't look like any Titan I ever saw" Ash said with a sweat drop "That's because there hasn't been any confirmed evidence of the Titan, only rumors" Arven answered with an almost child-like excitement.
"Do you think they grew big from that plant?" Nemona wondered, not knowing much about the plant in the book, thankfully, Arven was willing to give the answer. "These are the rare Herba Mystica" the students were all now interested as they all looked at the page.
"It says that these herbs can do a lot of good to your health, cure stomachaches, heal injuries, handle muscle weakness, you name it" Arven read the various effects of the herbs. "Now I'm interested" Thomas said "So you think that one of these herbs can be found here?" "Exactly" Arven replied.
"While I too am interested in these herbs, I am also concerned with what our giant legendaries are and where they come from" Nemona said "Yeah, not even Arven knows where they come from" Zeke added. "Well, maybe we can figure that out as we go" Ash answered before continuing "Come on, let's get going."
As they continue to climb upwards the hill, they began to hear a deep rumbling that they swore shook the ground. "Uhh, did anybody hear that?" Gus asked "Nuts if I know, did anybody FEEL that?!" Carla added.
"I'm not sure if any Pokemon around here could make a sound like that" Penny squeaked out, being the most scared out of the group, with her Eevee hiding behind her. "Alright class, just stick with me" Ash said as he took the lead as he and his trusty Pikachu began to observe his surroundings vigilantly.
As they continued on, everyone began having thoughts on what could cause such a tremor. "Say Zeke, do you think those tremors were from the Titan?" Thomas asked "I'm not superstitious, but from what the book said, and the Pokemon normally found around here, can we rule that out?" Zeke answered with uncertainty in his voice.
"One thing's for sure, whatever could cause a tremor like that must be very powerful" Vanny remarked, ready to take on whatever could make such quakes.
Arven was perhaps the most alert, as he had a pokeball at the ready for any possible threat that could pop up.
They eventually reached a clearing, where they decided to take a rest before heading out again. Ash in particular couldn't get his mind off of what Arven said about the Stone Cliff Titan, if what he said was true, then the Titan may be around here at this very moment.
Being in a rough mountainous area didn't really help matters much either as the supposed titan would be well within its element, it did have Stone Cliff in its name after all.
The tremors began to increase in both frequency, and magnitude, and everyone couldn't help but get the feeling that they were all being watched. That was when they heard a low gutteral "KLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWF" bellow out behind them.
"What the?!" Gus shouted before he looked behind him "Everyone, behind you!" All of their heads whipped behind them and they saw what Gus was pointing towards.
It was a very large crustacean with eyes on stalks, a brown rough carapace, and what seemed to be bushes growing out in some places. Its eyes were focused on them as as it leapt down from the cliffside and landed with a deafening thud, snapping its claws as it landed.
"What is that Pokemon!?" Ash cried out as he pulled out his Pokedex.
Klawf: The Ambush Pokemon, a rock type
They hand upside down from cliffs, waiting for any passing prey, they avoid attacks by sidestepping.
"That's a Klawf!?" Zeke shouted incredulously, unable to grasp how it could grow so big "I think this may be our titan" Felia whimpered as they got ready for battle.
Everyone sent out their Pokemon, with Ash sending out Pikachu, Nemona sending out Spirgatito, Arven with Quaxly, Gus with Capsakid, Vanny with Orthworm, Carla with Dondozo, Zeke with Azumarill, Thomas with Clodsire, Felia with Rellor, and Penny with Vaporeon.
The battle started with Klawf's left claw glowing orange as it sidestepped towards Capsakid and Orthworm before slamming the ground near them, causing rocks to be sent up and hit them. "Ouch! That's a mean Rock Smash!" Vanny shouted "Orthworm, Flash Cannon!" The earthworm then unleashed a powerful silver laser that slammed Klawf back a good bit, but was back up and ready for more.
"That's one mean crab!" Arven "Quick Quaxly, Aqua Jet!" Quaxly then surrounded himself with water and then dashed towards the Stone Cliff Titan and slammed into it, but it hardly did much, and was grabbed by its rock hard claws and then threw backwards, slamming into Pikachu.
After giving the giant crab a glare, Pikachu's tail glowed silver as it swung a mighty Iron Tail that made Klawf stagger back, but this only served to anger the crab even more and it began chucking boulders with Rock Throw in an attempt to flatten its opponents. One of the boulders were then sent back by Rellor with Rollout, and it managed to stun Klawf long enough for Dondozo to use Aqua Tail on its face.
Klawf was now even more angry, as its Anger Shell ability was activated and it soon begun to surround the arena with boulders with Block, preventing escape. He then picked up Clodsire with Vise Grip and squeeze tight on him, dealing a lot of damage.
"Oh no! Think Tom think" That was when Thomas had an idea "Closdire, jab your spines into him!" Clodsire extended his dorsal spines and proceeded to poison Klawf, making him let go in the process.
"Nice work Tom" Ash praised before Nemona proceeded to pull out her Tera Orb "It's all or nothing!" She then terastallized her Sprigatito, which gained a crown tghat resembled a heart with wings on it. Her Sprigatito's tera type was fairy, which played well into her newest attack.
"Now, use Play Rough!" Nemona shouted as if she was shouting towards an entire audience at a concert. Sprigatito then glowed pink as it charged forward and began to pelt the crab with fairy type energy, which made the beast roar in agony before collapsing to the ground.
"Did you think that was it?" Gus said as he returned Capsakid "I think so..." Arven said, that was when another tremor happened. Rocks near the cliffside collapsed and revealed a cave.
"The heck is that?" Vanny wondered "Well, let's find out" Ash proclaimed as they went in.
They went into the cave where they saw multiple pink herbs in the ground, and Arven lit up. "There it is!" He then ran towards the herbs "The Sweet Herba, it's real!" He was acting like a giddy kid in a toy store where every toy was free. "I wonder why he was after such herbs anyway" Nemona wondered as Arven then pulled out a pokeball.
"Ok everyone, I'm gonna make a sandwich with these herbs, for the legendaries, and for a friend" Arven said, as he released the Pokemon from his ball. It was revealed to be a large mastiff like Pokemon with brown shaggy fur and gray fur on its head and back that resembled a combed back hairdo.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Ash asked.
Mabostiff: the Boss Pokemon, and the evolved form of Maschiff
Despite their intimidating looks and great power, they are really gentle and love playing with children
"Hold on, something's wrong with him" Penny stated as he pointed to the dog Pokemon in question. The closer they looked, the more they noticed some pretty bad injuries.
"Wait a minute... you said that going to Area Zero was the stupidest mistake you ever made, was this what you meant?" Ash asked, which got a sigh out of Arven "Pretty much yes... My friend Mabostiff got terribly injured, and I'm hoping that the Herba Mystica can heal him. Before you ask, I tried the Pokemon Center, but they didn't help."
"Aww, poor thing" Felia pittied the state that the dog was in as Arven created a sandwich.
After the sandwich was done, Arven broke it up into 3 pieces and handed each to Koraidon, Miraidon, and Mabosstiff.
After they managed to down their portions, they began to feel a sudden urge of strength rush through them, and soon enough, Koraidon and Miraidon were able to move faster than they could before, and Mabosstiff could lift his head now.
"It's working!" Arven exclaimed excitedely as he began to rub Mabosstiff's head, which got a lick out of him. "Don't worry pal, sooner or later, you'll be back up on your feet in no time"
The rest of the group decided to let Arven have some time along with his Pokemon, knowing that they should let him get some space.
