One year later
The Earth's Special Forces have a reunion at Kame house. But little do they know that everything is about to change.
Goku, Bulma and Gohan arrive at the reunion. Tien Shinhan walks up to Goku with a grin and says "Goku, it's been a while. This must be your son, Gohan.". Gohan over the past year has come out of his shell and looks much stronger thanks to training with his father. He looks at Tien and says "Pleased to meet you, my dad says that you are one the toughest fighters he has ever met.". All of a sudden, Goku senses a power coming straight for them. A large man appears with a long mane of black hair and some kind of armor, there was also a device of some sort over his left eye. He looked around, and spotted Goku, his face lit up as he said "Kakarot, I finally found you!". Goku warily says "My name is Son Goku, I don't know who this Kakarot person is.". The stranger says "There is no mistaking it, you are Kakarot, I would know my own brother anywhere.". Goku says stunned "Brother?!". The stranger sighs and askes "Why do you not remember your own past?". Roshi stepped up and said "Goku when he was very young fell down a ravine, he hit his head. That injury would have killed anyone else, but it didn't kill him. It must have somehow damaged his memory.". The stranger then said "I better start from the beginning then. You are a Saiyan, from the planet Vegeta. My name is Raditz, our fathers name was Bardock and our mothers name was Gine. A little over twenty years ago, a tyrant named Frieza destroyed our planet, wiping out most of our race. There were only four survivors, the Crown Prince Vegeta, General Nappa, myself and you, little brother. We got trapped on a planet called Vampa. But last year, a Frieza force ship landed on our planet, we killed the crew and escaped. Prince Vegeta wants to avenge our race, but he can't do it alone. Even if all of us combined our powers, we wouldn't stand a chance.".
Goku was stunned hearing all this. He turned to Master Roshi and asked "What do you think Master?". Roshi said "I don't pretend that I can comprehend watching my species come close to extinction, but he speaks the truth. Plus I don't sense an ounce of malice coming from him.". Goku then turned to Raditz and asked "Do you have a way to talk to the other two?". When Raditz nodded his head, Goku said "Tell them to come here, we have ways of making ourselves stronger, we can help.". Raditz pressed a button on the scouter attached to his head and asked "Prince Vegeta, did you hear all that?". On the other end, Prince Vegeta answered "Yes, you have done well Raditz, tell Kakarot we will be there in a years time.". Raditz turned off the scouter and said "They are on their way brother. They should be here in one year. In the meantime, is there somewhere I can stay?". Goku looked at Bulma who nodded her head, he then said with a bright smile "Yeah, you can come stay with me and my family. This is my wife Bulma, and this is my son from my first marriage, Gohan.". Raditz said smiling "I'm glad to meet you, and I am glad that you have a good life brother.". Bulma with a smile said "Yeah, your brother is none too bright, but he's a good husband and father.". Goku chuckled. At that moment, all three Saiyan stomachs growled. Bulma sighed and said "I think that our cue to get home, I better call ahead and tell mum that we have a guest.".
An hour later, they all arrived back at the Brief Family compound. Bikini came out and in her usual ditz brained way looked at Raditz and said "Oh my, you are every bit as handsome as Goku!". Raditz went bright red while Goku and Bulma laughed themselves silly. Bikini went on "I decided to order take out, since we have a guest, it should arrive any minute now.". When the food arrived, what followed was an eating frenzy worthy of song. Raditz in particular, he had never tasted food so delicious. When everyone finished eating, Raditz looked at Goku and asked "Brother, is all the food on this planet this good?". Goku grinned and said "I haven't yet had a dish that I didn't like!". Raditz thought to himself "This planet is full of surprises.". Goku then said "Ok Raditz, you mentioned that Frieza has a huge army, that means we are going to need some help.". Raditz nodded his head and said "Yes, thats true. Does this planet have any strong fighters?". Goku answered "Theres my friends from Kame house, you already met them, but there is one more fighter I want to try and recruit. His name is Piccolo.". Upon hearing this, Bulma exclaims "ARE YOU CRAZY GOKU?! HE TRIED TO KILL YOU, NEARLY SUCCEEDED TOO!". Goku said "Yeah, but I don't think he is that evil. He hasn't tried to massacre any innocent people. And more importantly, we need all the help we can get.". Bulma sighed and said "I don't like this Goku, but if you think he can help, I'm with you.". A quiet voice spoke up "I want to fight as well". Everyone turned to the source of the voice and to everyones shock, it was Gohan. He said "You didn't just teach me how to fight dad, you also taught me WHY to fight. From the sounds of things, this Frieza guy has hurt a lot of innocent people, including my grandparents. I want to do my part in making sure he never does it again!". Goku nodded his head and said "Ok son, but our training is going to get that much harder.". Bulma looked at Raditz and asked "Can I have a look at that armor? I think I could make more.". Raditz nodded saying "That would be a definite advantage, it can take a lot of punishment.".
The next day, Goku and Raditz were both up early. While waiting for breakfast, they talked on the verandah. Goku asked "What were our parents like?". Raditz answered "Our father, Bardock was a great warrior. He taught me the Way of Yamoshi, that a warrior is only as great as his beliefs. Our mother Gine, she was warm. I remember when I was Gohan's age, I lost a fight with a bigger boy, I cried in my room. She came in and hugged me, told me something that I never forgot. "Remember Raditz, the true strength of a Saiyan warrior is not how strong he is, but in his desire to stand back up after a beating". That is something that has stayed with me ever since.". Goku said sadly "I wish I could have met them.". Raditz replied "I wish they were still alive, there are days when I have felt so lost...". Then Goku remembered something, he rushed inside, grabbed his wallet and said "Raditz, follow me.".
Goku and Raditz arrived at Fortuneteller Baba's Palace. Baba met them outside and said "Goku, what brings you here?". Goku said "Baba, you remember how you brought Grandpa Gohan back to the living world for a day?". Baba nodded her head and said "Yes, as I recall, you were overjoyed to see him.". Goku then said "Would you be able to do the same for our parents?". Baba then looked at Raditz and asked "Who is this?". Raditz answered "His big brother.". Baba said "Very well Goku, but it will cost you eight million zeni.". Goku grinned and pulled out his credit card. Baba once she charged the money asked "What are their names?". Goku answered "Bardock and Gine.". Baba then said "Wait here, I will be back shortly.".
Twenty minutes later, Baba returned with two people. One was a tall man who looked just like Goku, with a large cross shaped scar on his face. The other was a woman with hair similar to Raditz and a soft face with dark eyes. Raditz walked up to them and nervously said "Mother? Father?". Gine smiled with tears in her eye "Raditz, you got so big and handsome." before wrapping her arms round him in a hug. Bardock simply smirked and said "Looks like my boy became a proper warrior.". Raditz said "I have a surprise for you both.". Goku walked over and said awkwardly "Um hi". They looked at Goku for a second before Gine whispered "Is that you Kakarot?". Raditz said "Yes mother, thats Kakarot, but he lost all memory of his past before he arrived on this planet, thanks to a head injury.". Bardock chuckled and said "I can't say I'm too surprised, even as a baby, you could not sit still". Baba then chimed in "Remember Goku, they have to return to Otherworld in twenty four hours.". Goku smiled and said "Thanks Baba." Goku then turned to his parents and said "Come on, you can meet my family.".
A short time later, they all returned to the Brief Family compound, they all followed Goku inside. Bulma was at the table drinking coffee. Goku said "Hey hun, I would like you to meat some people.". Bulma looked up and said "Whats up?". Goku explained where he had gone, Bulma although annoyed with Goku for spending all that money, decided not to hold it against him. She walked up to Bardock and Gine, then said "I'm Bulma, I'm the poor girl who married your son". Gine and Bardock both burst out laughing. Gine once she calmed down a little said "Oh Kakarot, you picked a wife with a sense of humor.". Bardock grinned and said "Looks like you got yourself a fine woman there.". Goku grinned and yelled "HEY GOHAN, COME HERE PLEASE!". Gohan came wandering out and Goku said "This is my son, Gohan. Gohan, this is my mum and dad.". Gohan's eyes went wide and he said "So you're my grandparents?". Gine said "Yes. My name is Gine." and gave him a hug. Bardock looked at Goku and said "He looks strong Kakarot, you're raising a warrior.". Goku said proudly "Yes thats true, but he's also learning science from Bulma's dad and we have a tutor coming in two days a week.".
