Hello readers, welcome to my rendition of my hero academia, I truly hope you enjoy it. I am not in a rush to write this story, so sometimes chapters might come out within days or even hours of one another. Perhaps, they will be weeks apart, but no longer than a month for sure.
This is my first time writing, my first time trying to create a coherent story, and a not so obvious first time writing a fanfiction.
Izuku will be a slight OOC, but his core values will stay. There are new characters, known characters with slightly different backstories or personalities, different or slightly altered quirks. However, everyone is part of the overarching story and is a puzzle piece.
Endeavor is going to mentor Izuku, so if you have profound hate for him I suggest you do not read. His sins are not gone, not by a long shot, but he will be redeemed.
Also, I am trying to write more competent villains, so be ready for some real heavy hitters along with heroes that can do the same.
Of course not fodder though…
Anyways, happy reading!
Chapter 2- Origin II
Izuku grunted in pain when he hit the dirt. His eyes slamming shut as he tried wholeheartedly to steady the stream of pain running through his body.
After mustering some effort, he placed both his hands on the ground to push himself up, only for a small shoe to press against his back.
"Stay down Deku, I ain't letting you be the hero this time. You are gonna be the villain or else."
Izuku sniffled, holding back tears as he opened his eyes to see the marred dirt before him, "Why Kacchan, I never get to be the hero?"
The sandy blonde boy huffed, "Because lame head, your quirk ain't good enough like mine. I can create explosions all over my body, what can you do? Find some spare change?"
"Katsuki." One of the other boys spoke. "I don't mind being the vill-"
"Zip it Pencil Neck, I'm tired of him always wanting to be the hero, what if I wanted to huh? Do I have to give in just cuz' it's his turn."
Izuku stared at the dirt, his bottom lip sucked in as he fought back the anger that boiled within him, the rage to push the foot off him and give Katsuki a piece of his mind.
But he knew deep down, no hero would let their emotions get the best of them.
"Fine…"
It was barely a whisper.
Katsuki leaned down and cupped a hand over his ear, "What did you say Deku?"
Izuku grimaced and shoved Katsuki's foot away, standing up while still having his eyes set on the ground, "I said I don't mind being the villain."
"Hah, see, just needed to rough him up a little and he gets it. Now let's-"
A single drop of water hit Katsuki's nose, and very soon more followed, pelting the ground in dark spots.
It was raining, and after curses no one their age should say, they all began to head back to their parents one by one.
Katsuki did not spare Izuku a glance, the boy standing completely still with his eyes still stuck on the dirt. He let the rain wash down on him, his arms shaking as he watched everyone leave.
Izuku wished he could have been taken by his parents also, but ever since his Father died things had never been the same.
His mother would not get off for another hour, so he would be left to his own devices; alone, cold, and wet.
Izuku raised his head, looking up at the gray sky for a few moments before huffing and stomping off.
"Stupid Kacchan…" He kicked a stone on the sidewalk, still not bothered by the fact he was completely soaked. "My quirk this, my quirk that, what a-"
Izuku stopped his mumbling, feeling something inside him pull his body to his left. Raising a brow in confusion, he glanced toward the direction he felt the tug, a dark alleyway before him.
It looked ominous, and for an eight year old it was definitely not somewhere he wanted to go willingly.
However, once he heard a certain sound, he was already half way down.
A meow, one that sounded hurt, a clearly desperate cry that would melt anyone's heart if they heard it.
Izuku was no exception, hurrying forward and not focusing on the looming shadows or anything that would make him scared. He kept his head down, long strides only stopping when he finally saw it. A small lump of black curled up in a ball, the same way he looked when Kacchan was through with him.
It was bittersweet for the boy, finally being able to see the otherside of what he had experienced.
However, such thoughts were cast away as Izuku kneeled down and examined the damage.
Maybe because he had been occupied by thoughts, trying his hardest to stay looking ahead, or the fact the rain made it a little hard to see. Either way, he caught his breath at the sight of crimson pooling beneath the kitten.
Blood, so much blood, and Izuku was far from knowledgeable enough to truly help the cat.
So he could only stare, tears welling up in his eyes as he felt the weight on his shoulders grow heavy. The words he had always been insulted by were now being conjured in his mind by him on habit.
Worthless, pathetic, and many other insults spiraled in his head as Izuku reached out and placed a finger gingerly on the kitten's head.
'Deku', the word seeped into his mind and caused anger to rise slowly.
Then, his entire body froze, his muscles tensed, and it felt like something inside of him just… broke.
Suddenly, his finger erupted in flames, flames that were not the familiar color of green he had come to know.
No, the flames were yellow, golden even.
The yellow flames leapt from his finger, racing across the kitten's body to his horror. Izuku practically tore his coat, hoping to pat the kitten down, his heart almost breaking as he was no longer able to see the kitten within the yellow flames.
"No, what have I done?!"
He refused to be the cause of the kitten's death, so with haste he threw his coat on the kitten and patted it as quickly and gently as possible. He prayed from the bottom of his heart that it would be okay, and that he would not have its blood on his hands.
"Please…"
He started to let his tears flow.
"Please, please, please pl-"
"Moew." He was suddenly cut off.
Izuku paused, "Meow?"
Then, the last thing he expected happened. The lump under his jacket began to move, shuffling slowly toward the edge of his coat. He could only watch with bated breath, and much to his joy the kitten poked its little head out and meowed once again.
The kitten then fully escaped the clutches of his coat, meowing again and making its way to Izuku while seemingly not bothered by the downpour. It rubbed its head on his hand, the same one that had once been covered by… yellow flames?
Izuku pulled his hand away, scared that he would hurt the kitten if he was not careful.
However, his curiosity got the better of him, so he slumped down against one of the dumpsters. He inspected his finger, the same one that produced a different colored flame. It was impossible, his flames had always been green.
With a simple thought, the familiar emerald flames appeared on his hands, and like anytime there was no heat emitted. It was easy to call his Hunter's Flame forth, but the yellow flames happened when he… healed the kitten?
"What did I do?" Izuku glanced at the cat who seemed completely fine, now padding on his coat before it sat down and looked up at him with slitted yellow eyes.
"Did I… h-heal it?"
He focused on what he felt in the moment, the feeling of wanting to fix the cat, to heal it, to make his dream of saving people come true.
Hope, he had hope.
Golden flames appeared in place of his usual green ones, and in awe the eight year old Izuku could only stare. The flame did not falter in the rain, nor did it produce heat or burn him. It felt nice, comfortable even, like his mother's embrace after a really bad day.
"Wait, a new quirk? No, it is still flames, so maybe… the same quirk but different application?"
He began to mumble, and the cat seemed to raise a single brow at his mutterings, but decided it was just a part of its savior's character and shrugged it off.
In the meantime of his continued ramble, the cat felt tired, the yellow flames healing it but seemingly making it want to sleep also.
However, before it could curl up to rest, its savior scooped it up in his coat and began to run home. Much to its dismay and angry meows.
Ten minutes later, Izuku was panting heavily, pushing the door to his house open and absolutely dripping wet.
"Izuku?" His mom called as she peeked around the corner. "Oh my god, I told you to bring your All Might umbrella Izuku, you are gonna catch a cold!"
Her son just stood in the doorway, huffing and trying his best to catch his breath.
"Izuku, sweetie, are you okay?"
Slowly, he looked up, a wide smile on his face as he revealed the black cat in his clutches.
"Mom… I-I healed it."
Ruqa was confused, but soon that confusion was turned into awe as her son's entire right arm erupted into yellow flames.
"I can," Izuku took another heavy breath. "I can become a greater hero."

~Six Years Later~

Izuku clicked his tongue in disappointment, flipping his pencil around and erasing the costume he had been drawing for the last hour. It was hard to think about his hero look, since his two flames didn't really have any adverse effects outright and clashed in color schemes.
Yeah, his flames consumed his stamina to no end, but how could that be helped? Maybe energy drinks, caffeine shots he could quickly take to try and overwrite the exhaustion.
Problems, and hopefully come UA's entrance exam he could figure them out.
"Midoriya?"
The question brought him back to reality, the entire classroom looking at him with a mixture of curiosity, envy, and a majority of pity.
"Ah, yes Sensei?" Izuku said as he closed his journal and sat up.
His balding teacher smiled, "You're shooting for UA right? With a dual quirk like yours you would make a great rescue hero."
Izuku smiled weakly, "Yes Sensei, though it will be hard seeing as UA tends to focus on combat heroes."
The teacher went to reply, but an all too infamous voice cut him off.
"For a good reason too, villains usually have destructive quirks in the first place, that's why they need people like me to put them down." Katsuki leaned back in his chair and kicked his feet up on the desk while yawning. "Someone like Deku might scare them with his shitty flames, heal them to death maybe, he might make a good sidekick though."
Izuku frowned, "I'll be my own hero Katsuki, just wait."
The blonde boy snorted, "Yeah, one garbage one at that, stick to hospitals dumbass."
"Now Bakugou, I understand you dislike Izuku for wanting to be an actual hero, but he will inevitably save just as many lives as you will."
Katsuki rolled his eyes, "He would save more if he wasn't delusional about trying to be one, again, what will he do when a real threat shows up and he is alone?"
Izuku put his head down, the emphasis on 'actual' from his teacher hitting him hard. He wanted to stand up and shout at the top of his lungs that if anyone was an actual hero, it would be the ones that rescue.
However, Izuku knew it all too well. Everyone wanted to be like a certain man, to have fought in the Day of Light battle. A fight that had been aired across the entire world, a testament to a single man's achievement.
All Might.
Izuku remembered when he was eight, the way he could feel the aftershocks of their ongoing battle literal cities away, how the cameras could barely keep up with his speed, the attacks so powerful tornadoes would spawn from him simply cocking his fist back.
True power, All Might had been the epitome of strength, and that was why he had been the only one able to put a scratch on All for One.
Izuku, despite his quirk, wanted to inspire the world just as All Might had.
What if another All for One came? What if an even stronger villain with twisted ideals appeared? What would he do?
Heal them?
He grunted in dissatisfaction, knowing that his hope to be like All Might was a kid's dream, one with enough naivety that he could give some to everyone in Japan and still have leftovers. But for some reason, he could not -would not- let it go.
Izuku glanced at his open notebook, half of his costume gone as he had yet to erase it all. It looked too much like the m All Might's outfit, that was for sure, and just seeing it made Izuku smile a tad.
"What are you smiling about Creep?"
The crack of Katsuki's quirk made Izuku jump, but he was more worried about what he would see in his journal than a possible attack.
Before he could close it, the blonde headed boy snatched it from him, taking a moment to skim over its contents before bursting out into laughter. He was purposely being loud enough so his goons caught wind and shuffled over.
"What is it this time? Did he snoop on one of the girls and finally figure out their quirk?"
"Oh, did he try putting Anika in a hero costume again, what a fucking creep."
"Definitely stalked some nobody, asking about how their quirks worked or some shit."
Their words hit Izuku like a sledgehammer, each one a reminder that he was different through and through. He had been doing it out of curiosity at first, then as trying to help others realize their dream of being a hero, finally he began doing it out of desperation to find a way for him to fight. However, all it did was make everyone shiver at the mention of his name.
"G-give it back Katsuki, It-"
An explosion denoted on his desk, black marks staining the wood and a sizzle of smoke rising up to silence him.
"How many times do I have to say it Deku, someone like you can't fill his shoes, and even if you had a combat quirk a spineless, weak bodied, stalking creep like you could never do it."
Izuku flinched, biting his lip and looking away, "Why does it matter? Just l-leave me alone."
The explosive boy chuckled, closed his journal, and sent it soaring out the window with a small explosion from his index finger.
"Ah!" Izuku rushed over, reaching out but not able to grab it before it fell, the notebook splashing in the small koi pond below.
"Let's beat it." Katsuki snorted as he glanced at Izuku who was still looking down in horror. "Don't be afraid to jump, you could just heal yourself anyways."
The group snickered and laughed, leaving the nerd alone in the now empty classroom.
Izuku exhaled heavily, his hands gripping the window seal until his knuckles turned white.
"Damnit."
His stomach bubbled, his heart throbbed, and it felt like everything inside him just wanted to explode. However, Izuku shut it down like always, weakly walking out of the classroom and through the hallways.
After exiting the school, he found himself staring at the journal that floated about aimlessly, the fish gathered on the other side of the pond as they observed their guest.
Izuku bent down to grab his notebook, but upon touching the water, he stopped. He pulled his hand away, huffed in annoyance, and walked away.
What was the point anyways? He knew enough about quirks, and was most definitely smart enough to see the writing on the wall.
He was going to be a rescue hero, it was the only path forward. He would not be like Endeavor, Blowback, Tempest, or any of the other top heroes. He could heal with his Golden Warmth flame, and seek out practically anything with his Hunter's flame. Izuku had no shortage of an opportunity to become a hero, and that was why he hated it.
He would never get the choice, he would never be able to even try, and because of his love for heroes in the first place he knew that he could never settle for a different profession.
A rescue hero, it was a noble thing, a title that would never be seen on outlets, tabloids, and the top ten hero list. Izuku would gladly do it, that was never the problem, the reason was that he wanted to inspire the world.
His hand clenched into a fist as he slowly pushed his arm back as he was about to imitate an attack from a video he remembered by heart from watching it well over a thousand times.
"United States of Smash." He plainly said, his sloppily thrown fist hitting nothing as he left the premises of Aldera Junior high.
No one was around, thankfully too, as Izuku's red face would be a clear indication that he had been in his own little world. He didn't even remember the walk over, and with another heavy sigh, he continued on.
Occasionally, he would mutter the name of one of All Might's famous attacks, imagining in his head being able to use such power for himself. To have such a durable image that no villain could shake it unless they were gunning for world domination.
Even then, they would lose horribly, just like All for One had.
A man who could take and give quirks, a scary thought that would make anyone with a semi-decent quirk wary. A haunting shadow that would seep into every corner of the mind, waiting silently for its time to attack.
Thanks to All Might's sacrifice though, that fear was dead, and because of it his name would be cemented in history for centuries to come.
Unsurprisingly, even after he had died, billboards still had him there smiling, the American flag theme replaced most anything that could manage it without looking too silly, and even a day was dedicated to him.
Day of Light, a country recognized holiday where no one would work, even government officials. It was soon too, tomorrow actually, and as the hours ticked down Izuku found his thoughts going back to his childish dream.
To be like him.
"Stupid, grow up Izuku." He muttered as he finally stopped to take in his surroundings.
"When did I?"
Currently, he was standing in Yagi Park, Musutafu's renowned national park with memorials of All Might's achievements.
It was a place buzzing with activity, and no matter where you looked there were people doing something of note; kids chasing one another, parents watching them with content smiles, cyclists zipping by, couples holding hands, old people feeding the birds, and a man in all black holding pulsing with electricity.
Izuku smiled, then lost it as his eyes locked back on onto the man he had seen before, but upon looking no one was there. He must have been turning his head too quickly and had seen what he thought was a man with an electricity quirk, but that was delusional. Quirk laws were very strict, and even then who would be dumb enough to do something in Yagi Park. Heroes patrolled such a populated place often, and wearing all black in broad daylight would peg you for suspicion immediately.
That, or a fan of a certain type of music.
Izuku shook his thoughts away, his smile returning as he began to take a trip around the place he always explored on the weekends. The trees were beautiful with their exotic yellow, red, white and blue leaves. There were statues of All Might in different poses, plaques describing each event, a wall of marble depicting all the villains he caught, and finally Izuku's personal favorite called "All for One and One for All".
It was a statue of the number one hero, standing in his tattered costume with his signature smile gone from his face. His arm was cocked back ready for a punch aimed downwards, and the most notorious villain was firmly stuck beneath one of All Might's boots.
All for One had a number done on him; his suit destroyed, his face stained with surprise, and his only good arm reaching up to try and block the next attack.
Long story short, he did not, and that was the day both died of their injuries.
Two people, juggernauts that could destroy the planet, fighting on opposite sides.
A villain who would stop at nothing to change this world, and a hero who would never stop at anything to keep it protected.
Yin and Yang.
Izuku felt excitement radiate through his entire being, not aware that others had to scoot away from him as he was practically glowing as bright as the sun.
"A fan eh?"
Izuku stopped his fan-boying, blinking rapidly as he turned to see who had spoken to him.
A man standing at 190 cm had his body hidden by a pale trench coat. He wore a black fedora, sunglasses, and a mask to hide the lower part of his face. Nothing but his hulking body stood out, and Izuku instinctively took a step away as he nodded.
"Ah yeah, he is my favorite hero."
The man clicked his tongue, his head turning to look at the statue of stone, "I could have beat him."
Izuku raised a brow, "U-um, come again sir?"
He huffed, "Why do you like him? What makes him different from any other hero? I think Endeavor is pretty good, along with that new guy hawks and even Tempest, that old fart."
The green haired boy chuckled awkwardly, "I-I guess it's just… everything. You know that saying um, I always forget it. 'Power corrupts absolutely' or something, well why did that not happen to All Might? I wondered about it for weeks as I tried to figure out what his quirk was. How can someone who can level cities with punches be a hero, such destructive power would usually be associated with villains. Yet just look around. He has an entire park to his name, some museums, shops, restaurants, and another new monument which will be recognized by the nation soon enough."
The tall stranger took a moment to digest the words, mulling silently for a minute before he asked Izuku something else.
"So power? You like him because he is able to control his ability to destroy?"
Izuku, who had been on guard for most of the conversation, loosened up. He gazed up at All Might, "Nope, his strength is low on the list actually. I find his humor, his kindness, his ability to hand out hope like fast food, and a truly unmoving want to save people with his strength more important."
"So, in your opinion what would be the number one reason, or rather, if you could give only one what would it be?"
Izuku scratched the back of his head and grinned, "His smile I s-suppose."
The man did not move, simply staring forward. The tension grew tangible, and Izuku finally realized how embarrassing that was. His face turned red, and he wanted to apologize out of instinct if not for the laughter that stopped him.
The stranger was laughing, quiet enough that only if you were close you could hear him.
"Ah, I forgot I was talking to a kid, but I think I understand now. I get it, the reason why I will forever be the number tw-"
He never got to finish, a bolt of lighting striking the All Might statue and causing his head to explode.
"Alright, everyone don't move or I'll put a bolt of lightning through your skull!"
A man with spiky cobalt blue hair and pure white eyes began to walk to the front of the crowd. His outfit consisted of black military garb, and soon enough three others in the same get up joined him standing before the monument.
"We are now officially holding you twenty hostage, one slip up, and you die." This came from a different villain, his hair an earthy brown and his lanky arms hanging well below his knees.
He crouched, touching the floor and muttering something no one could hear. In an instant, four walls shot up from the grass, closing off any exit except for above.
"Good Mutt, now keep up structural integrity, we wait for the closest heroes who should be Whiplash and Hula Girl, take them out and make sure we also take their support gear."
The apparent villain named Mutt, who had summoned the walls, nodded slowly.
"How intact do they have to be Bolt?"
Bolt shrugged, "Our employer said as long as they are hanging on by a thread they should be good. If not, we just kill whoever brings the money and take it anyway."
Bolt and Mutt shared a laugh, causing most of the civilians to stay frozen as they overheard the conversation.
Izuku was no different, his legs shaky as he backed up until his back touched the dirt wall, "V-villains?"
The tall stranger seemed unaffected, talking low enough that only Izuku could hear him.
"Four people, an earth control quirk and a lightning one. Hmm, the other two who have yet to talk and keep glancing around. Are we a little scared?" The stranger took a heavy step forward. "Prioritize the strongest and the supposed leader, wait till their targets show up for a diversion, if a civilian reacts with violence join in and use them as leverage. If any defensive quirks appear, change priority."
Izuku gulped, gaining some sense of poise as he reached out for the man, "I don't think you should do anything, illegal quirk use is forbidden."
The stranger stopped, glanced back to study the clearly frightened Izuku before shaking his head, "Do you know who I am?"
Izuku shook his head, "N-no…"
The stranger never answered, turning back and watching as the Villains waited impatiently for heroes to arrive. They had not done anything to take the phones of their hostages, and it was quite obvious that a few were clicking away on their cellular devices while trying to be sneaky.
It seemed they wanted it to happen, because as a booming female voice sounded from above, smiles spread on the four goons' faces.
"Hula is here, Bolt, that's you."
Ths blue haired villain nodded, raising a hand toward the nearest civilian, blue sparks dancing across his palm.
"Oh look who showed up! One move and I fry this ladies' skull."
Hula Girl, a hero dressed in a Hawaiian themed bikini appeared on the wall, a platform of water beneath her feet as she hovered.
"Tch." She nodded. "No need to get frisky now, do you not understand that what you are doing is wrong?"
The stranger next to Izuku nodded, "Good, stalling for backup, and if what the villains say is right, Whiplash should be here soon."
Izuku gulped, but something inside him was telling him the voice of the man was… familiar?
As if on cue, a blur of silver raced through the crowd, one of the goons dropping suddenly with a cry of pain before he went limp.
With a gust of wind, a man with metallic hair, goggles tinted orange, and a blue skin tight suit appeared.
"Here in a flash!" He called with a wide grin as he sized up the villains. "Now, let's just turn ourselves in, I could have taken you guys out already."
Mutt scoffed, "Then why didn't you? I'm starting the operation now, Bolt!"
The second he finished saying his partner's name, the dirt walls began to move, closing in on the monument with a loud creak and rumble. In the same instant, the stone statue began to morph, turning into tentacles that shot forward so fast, not even Whiplash could react as his legs were binded.
Hula Girl cursed, using her water platform to fly herself forward as another hula hoop of water appeared on her wrist. With a simple thrust, it expanded and shot forward, but the third goon who was just as scared as Izuku gained some grit and snapped his finger.
The water hoop splashed against a pane of glass, shattering it but also making the hoop lose its shape.
"Shit, they got a barrier?!" Hula Girl fled sideways as a pillar of earth shot up to try and hit her.
Izuku saw this, and without thinking he shouted, "One of them shoots lightning! Don't use water!"
Hula Girl barely dismissed her water platform and tucked her knees upwards as a flash of blue light passed where her feet were.
"Ah, too close." She breathed aloud before she realized she was falling. The hero summoned another platform hurriedly, racing downward toward the barrier villain who seemed already exhausted from her last attack.
On the other end, Whiplash was already out for the count, binded and yelling as Mutt sauntered forward, the villain occasionally glancing back to send a pillar of earth to guide Hula Girl closer.
However, it was then that Izuku was suddenly blinded, his hands shooting up and puling the darkness from his face.
"A trench coat?"
He looked up, and that's when he saw it, the flash of fire that hit Mutt's right arm and caused him to scream.
"Hula Girl back off! The blue haired one counters you too well, focus on getting Whiplash battle ready!"
Everyone for a second stopped, glancing toward the commanding voice.
"Endeavor, shit! Plans off, Mutt open us an exit tunnel."
Mutt was still screaming, clutching his right arm while he rolled on the ground.
As if acting on his emotions, the once stable earth walls wobbled, changing shapes until four giant fists in each cardinal direction shot toward Endeavor.
He had his costume on, eyes thinning as he shot forward, his blast off knocking civilians back and away from the fist that hit the ground with a bang.
Izuku was in awe, since he knew that the hero had pushed them away on purpose, an application of his quirk only a fanatic would notice instantly.
Although, he could spare little thought on it as fire flashed in thin threads across the courtyard.
"Hell Spider!"
The beams cut each of the dirt arm's connection to the ground, and as if suddenly lifeless, they stopped moving. Endeavor exploded toward the barrier villain and put a right hook deftly on his cheek, sending the man barreling down the small steps leading up to the monument.
Hula Girl was not idle either, spinning one of her water hoops that cut Whiplash's leg binding easily.
The speedster thanked the female hero, blurring as he raced toward Bolt.
In the same instance, Endeavor was doing the same, his right side bursting with flames as he got closer.
The lightning villain gritted his teeth as he saw his end coming quickly. In a last ditch effort, he screamed at the top of his lungs and shot his hands out, a flash of light blinding everyone for a moment.
After it died down, Izuku saw the scene before him in horror. Everyone, including the heroes, were on the ground while twitching with sparks snaking across their body.
"Damnit, I'm almost out, Mutt you still kicking?"
The brown haired villain cursed loudly as he sat up against the steps and nodded, "That fucker fried me, and he somehow knew I could only control earth connected to the ground. Fucking pros man."
Bolt fell to his knees heaving for air, "Doesn't matter, plans back on, grab their gear and make an escape tunnel before some other hero shows up. I got enough to cook Endeavor's brain, but I won't be able to move after."
Mutt grinned as he picked himself up, "Do it, imagine our wanted levels after killing the number one, our faces will be everywhere."
The two shared a quick exchange of laughter, but got deadly serious soon after. Bolt struggled to his feet, trudging over to the helpless Endeavor who looked up at him with murder in his eyes.
"Hey there number uno, any last words?"
"V-vermin, I-will… kill-"
Bolt chuckled, "Ah shut up and die already."
He reached a hand down to silence the fool, yet before he could touch Endeavor's forehead he saw a green flash in the corner of his eye.
He barely managed to dodge the green flames, eyes wide as he swirled to see who had attacked.
Izuku stood valiantly, eyes determined as he knew he was the only one standing. Everyone else had been closer, and with his back against the dirt wall he had naturally been the farthest.
It seemed a whole lot of luck and a splash of absurdity had kept him unaffected, but now he had a choice.
To fight with a quirk that could not hurt anyone, or watch silently as his second favorite hero died before his eyes.
"Stay- stay away." Izuku's emerald eyes thinned in anger. "You will not touch him."
Bolt shivered, but upon seeing the clearly obvious stance of someone who is scared shitless, he laughed.
"Oh god haha, thought you were an actual hero for a second." Bolt wiped a fake tear away. "Don't go giving people heart attacks like that kid, might end up dead in a ditch."
Izuku frowned, "What do you say?"
Bolt smiled, "Huh, the dead part? I might be a villain kid but I unless you really piss me off then-"
"An actual hero." Izuku spat as his palms clenched into fists. "You, you're just like them. Bullies that know nothing."
Bolt donned a confused look, "What are you on about?"
Unfortunately, he got his answer in the form of green flames hitting him square in the chest. Bolt screamed and fell back, rolling away and patting his body in surprise.
Only when he popped up to his feet did he realize he was completely fine. He chuckled slowly, his once playful demeanor gone completely as he looked at Izuku with intent.
"You… I planned on killing the number one but you kid, you deserve it waaaay more now. Good job, you pissed me off."
Bolt sprinted forward, hands pulsing with blue sparks as he raised them out to grab.
Izuku faltered, every ounce of his confidence shattering as he saw a real villain coming toward him. He stepped back, hands put up in defense as Bolt got closer.
Time seemed to falter, and everything slowed as Izuku saw his fate. The fate in which Bolt would inevitably grab him and fry him to death.
The fate anyone would fear, but for him, he could not help but find it amusing somewhat.
All his life he wanted to be like All Might, to 'fight' and be a real hero that would stop villains before they could wreak their havoc. To not be shunned to the backlines and be only able to react, not act.
However, life had given him a curse dressed up as a blessing, one that made him the perfect rescue hero and something anyone would envy. Hell, someone out there probably wished they had his quirk, praying for it even.
The thought made him mad.
Angry that his life was already decided for him, that his choice to try and be a frontline hero was null from the second he was born.
Boiling, something within him was simmering. Waiting patiently like a predator, wanting to come forth and strike out against whatever obstacle before him.
It hurt, ever since he could remember Izuku had to press his anger down, soothe it with thoughts of good times. To not let it devour him and become like Katsuki.
However, he was done holding back.
Bolt's eyes widened, and before he could try to move out of the way, flames washed over him and sent him sprawling back in agony.
"Fuck!" He screamed, smoke rising from his body as he threw his head back. "Mutt!"
Mutt, who had pocketed the support bracelets from Hula Girl and the assortment of items on Whiplash turned to his partner's cries.
What he saw left him speechless, a short boy with crazy curls of green, eyes of emerald seething with anger, and the dregs of his shirt falling away as red hot flames danced across his upper torso.
"Endeavor?" He asked the question on instinct, but quickly shut the idea down as this clearly was some civilian.
Acting quickly, he touched the ground, sending the stone steps and the remainder of the stone statue morphing into a chain that shot toward the boy.
Only, as it got close it simply melted. Dropping like hot magma on the floor where it uselessly sizzled as if it were water on a frying pan.
Mutt staggered, overuse of his quirk making his vision kilter to the side, "Damn, one more chance…"
Izuku, who watched the chains melt when they reached him, finally gained control of his emotions. His mouth was agape in surprise, especially as he saw the flames that hugged his body.
"Red, not green or yellow. Red… real flames."
It made no sense, he never had this happen. Plenty of times before he tried to see if he would conjure new flames, for years he believed that maybe he could even try and create his own.
It had been fruitless, but before him were flames he had already given up on.
"Boy, get ready! He is attacking!" Endeavor yelled from his spot on the ground, catching Izuku's attention and bringing it to the giant fist of earth now coming toward him.
Izuku grinned in ecstasy, thrusting a hand out, fire snaking forward and meeting the fist halfway. The blaze spread and engulfed the attack, a spray of smoke and dust kicking up and shrouding Izuku visage as everything went silent.
It was at this time Endeavor could finally feel his limbs, his flames igniting and sending him zipping forwards like a missile.
Mutt could do little to stop the fist which practically crushed his sternum, air and consciousness fleeing him as he thudded to the dirt.
The pro hero who put him down swirled to gain an understanding of where everyone was at. Hula Girl was up and rushing to his side and along with Whiplash who no longer had his smile.
"Is he down?" The speedster asked.
Endeavor only grunted at his question, turning to Hula Girl.
"Put out the fires, take stock of any injured, I will coral the villains and through my earpiece I already contacted support and the authorities."
Hula Girl nodded and took off.
"Whiplash, help her."
The silver haired hero nodded solemnly, aware that he had done little in this fight, less than even a civilian.
Speaking of civilians, the dust cloud still shrouded the area, and they could only hope he was alright. Endeavor was less keen on him and more on Bolt who looked like he had seen better days.
The flame hero cursed as he looked at the man's injuries, "He will die, medics won't be here for another three minutes."
He cursed internally, turning to the dust cloud that finally disappeared, revealing a topless Izuku who blinked slowly and looked around him as if he was confused.
Upon seeing Bolt, he gasped and quickly ran forward, "N-no I… I just wanted to stop him, I-I… oh wait."
A small smile graced his worried face as he knelt down and extended a hand, yellow flames flashing to life.
However, before he could touch him, one of the biggest hands he had ever seen gripped his wrist.
"What are you doing boy, he is already down."
Izuku was frozen, looking over to meet Endeavore's glare, "I can heal him."
"What? How? Flames don't-"
He never got to voice his confusion, the golden flames extending from Izuku's hand and devouring Bolt's body like fire on dry grass.
The number one hero watched closely, his face still stained with confusion until he saw it. The way Bolt's skin knit back together and third degree burns fell off like water.
"How…?"
Izuku smiled wider, "My Golden Warmth flames can heal anyone back to their way they were, but their stamina depletes and if I'm not careful they could die."
He noticed Endeavor's look, quickly ceasing the golden flames and putting his hands up in defense, "Ah, though I-I am very careful, I never ever get that close, most people have enough energy that their body won't use to try and keep you conscious, my flames will draw on that first and put them out for a day or two but nothing more."
The number one hero blinked rapidly at how fast the boy was talking, but even then he focused on a few glaring issues.
"You said flames, as in plural?"
"Ah, yes." Izuku nodded slowly as green flames danced on his open palm.. "Hunter's Flame allows me to seek out any object or person as long as I remember enough details about them."
The fire shifted to yellow. "Golden Warmth heals, and the last one…" Finally, his new red ones took Golden Warmth's place while emitting real heat for once.
"My new flame is just a regular old fire type."
"Interesting." Endeavor soaked it all in. "So you just discovered the red flames?"
"Y-yes."
"Hmmm. Your name, give it to me." Endeavor grabbed the scruff of Bolt's neck and hoisted him up with minimal effort, carrying him like a suitcase.
"Izuku Midoriya, sir um… Endeavor?"
"Just Endeavor, I have business to attend to, but your quirk is fascinating, these 'flames' make you quite powerful and versatile Midoriya. After this all blows over, and come tomorrow, drop by my agency and ask for the meeting at three thirty."
Izuku gulped, "Am I in trouble?"
Endeavor began to walk away, "No, quite the opposite, you will make a great combat and rescue hero, you just need guidance."
Izuku was still on his knees, thankfully so because he would have collapsed then and there. He was definitely exhausted from using his new flame, but those words did more than anything else. They held no malice, no hidden meaning, and no underlying tone of superiority.
None of that was there, just pure honesty, a real compliment.
"Thank you." Izuku held back tears, but it was futile as streams raced down his cheeks. "Thank you so much."
