A/n: I've had this idea for awhile and now I'm finally getting the courage to post it.
Title: A Pink Heart
Chapter 1: Island Fortress
Inside a dark cave upon an island far away from the states, Tommy Oliver and his assistant Kate McKinney ran for their lives from their own experiments of what Kate liked to call them as mega-goons.
"This is not what I had in mind for a job description!" Kate said in a whisper, glaring at her mentor.
Tommy shrugged and tilted his head to the side. "Well, neither did I."
"Right. Remind me never to go on another field trip like this again."
"Duly noted," he said. "Let's just concentrate on trying to find a way out of here. This way."
He sprinted forward, and she followed. It was true. She applied to this position as assistant to a science lab only to follow her dreams and get through grad school so she can be a teacher. She was good at research, and writing proofs.
Suddenly as they turned the corner an explosion of sparks flew around them making them cry out in alarm. She scooted closer towards him in fear.
He protected her from the blast and continued to run as fast as they could.
"Find them!" Mezagog said, appearing down the steps with his goons. "Whatever it takes!"
"Go! Run!" Tommy said as he pushed her forward running through the dark corridors that had layers of explosives inside the bins that lined the caved walls.
Smoke and debris fell behind them as the island began to crumble. Kate and Tommy jumped out of the cave into the air and landed on the ground, staining Kate's pink shirt and her face with grease. Tommy didn't look too hot either.
"What do we do?" Kate asked.
"We run. This whole place is gunna blow up!" he said.
With that said, they ran through the forest trees that were still able away from Mezagog's goons that were after them.
Two goons came up and fell on top of Tommy, making him fall off his feet.
Kate stopped, and turned around in fear for him. "Tommy!" she cried out.
Now they were surrounded as Tommy got up and into his karate stance.
"Remember those karate moves I showed you?"
"Ye-yes. The self defense moves?" Kate asked.
"Yep. Now would be a good time to use 'em. We got no choice."
Kate widened her eyes but nodded and got into her fighting and protective stance.
She kicked one that came after her and it landed on the ground. Two more ran at her. She ran up the tree and then jumped backwards, throwing her two legs out so the sole of her shoes connected with the stomach of the goons after her so they could come crashing down. Two goons grabbed Tommy and one goon kicked him down. Kate also got knocked down too by her goons. Together they looked up at the goons that were staring them down and jumped towards them, making them roll over to the other side.
They continued to fight their way through the goons that were attacking them in the forest.
Suddenly explosions behind them exploded making the ground shake, causing Kate and Tommy to fall off their feet.
"Ugh, this is a really bad day at the office," Kate muttered as she landed right next to Tommy.
"Come on," they helped each other up and ran out of the forest until they found a clearing and all the way at the edge of the cliff over a sea of blue water.
"Not good," Tommy muttered.
"You think?" Kate asked dryly.
They turned around and stared at the monster goons after them and more fiery explosions that rocked the island.
They had to jump.
"I'm not going to like this am I?"
"Nope. But we got no choice. Come on!"
They jumped up and off the island and fell right into the water below them, watching the whole island explode.
"Tommy!" Kate cried frantically as she pulled herself out of the water, trying to keep herself a float.
"It's okay, it's okay, I got you,"
She shook her head, coughing up water. "I'm putting in my two-weeks. This is it for me."
Tommy sighed and just nodded his head.
