Okay so before I get started, this is gonna be just a one-shot. I could totally turn this into a full-blown story, but I want to focus on Changing Destinies. When I go through a slump, I try to keep writing, so here it is. This is my adaptation on how the Justice League should have been formed in the Arrowverse/DCTV.
And a little bit of background, Laurel is alive because of her sister's use of the Spear of Destiny, using it to bring her sister back before destroying it. Also, Barry has been stuck in the speed force since Elseworlds (about 3-4 months) because Oliver could only save either Barry or Kara, not both. and Barry sacrificed himself for his wife (yes, his wife) and disintegrated into the speed force.
Barry and Kara got together because after Savitar, Iris and Barry broke up because Barry couldn't handle Iris and how she was blaming her affair on Barry being in the Speed Force. Barry moves to Earth 38 for a few months to get away, and in the process, helps Kara with the world killers, taking them out earlier than in the show. They got married after Oliver and Laurel's wedding (Post Earth-X). Kara and Barry are always seen together due to them splitting their time on both their earths a couple months at a time. Barry destroyed Myriad before it could even get started because Lillian had no way to figure out how to stop Barry because he wasn't an alien. Kara also helped Barry with his villains and became The World's Finest. After Barry's death, Kara permanently moved to Central City to protect her husband's city. Harry also moves to Earth-1 after Barry's death because he feels responsible that he couldn't help Barry, so he spends the rest of the pre-crisis days on Earth 1.
In LOT, Ava shut down the Legends because Sara left her. In turn, Wally returns to Central City along with Steel, leaving Central to be protected by Flash (Formerly), Impulse (Wally), Vibe, Frost, Elongated Man, and Steel. Mick retires and commandeers the Wave Rider secretly while Sara moves back to Star City and works with Oliver and Laurel.
Arrow: After Lian Yu was blown up by Adrian, Curtis, Dinah, and Felicity all died. Diggle got severely injured, leaving nerve damage in his leg, causing him to take up Felicity's spot as 'Man in the Chair' while Thea was stuck in a coma. Oliver, Laurel, and Rene were the only remaining heroes in Star, so it wasn't as easy for criminal empires to take over. Tommy Merlyn was brought back to life by Talia in a last-ditch effort to destroy Oliver, but with the help of Oliver, Laurel, and Thea, Tommy was redeemed (sort of like a Black-Siren type of arc). Tommy now helps his family and friends defend Star City. Oliver was never sentenced because one, Laurel was the DA, and two, Lyla and ARGUS stepped in and got Watson fired for threatening a witness (Rene). Oliver and Laurel lead Star City by day and save it by night with help from Wild Dog, Artemis (Sara), and The Wizard (Tommy). Oliver took Barry's death almost as hard as Kara, reverting to his Hood persona before being pulled out by Tommy, reminding him who he really is and to not succumb to the darkness like he did.
Oh also, Batwoman isn't a thing. Just. No.
All right, now for the real show :)
Four months ago…
Barry opens his eyes, gasping for air, "Where am I?!" He yells before turning around and sees his mother, "I'm dead, aren't I?"
Nora shakes her head, "Not exactly. We brought you here to heal, and when the time is right, you will return to your wife."
Barry nods and begins to run.
April 2019
Oliver and Laurel Queen are in their home before being blinded by a white light. Oliver opens his eyes and before him is The Monitor. Laurel clenches her jaw before storming the celestial being before being teleported back to where she stood with her husband.
"What do you want?" Oliver growls, "Crisis isn't here for another few months, and you caused the death of my best friend, so why should I listen to you?" Oliver darkly demands while The Monitor stays silent, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" Oliver yells as Laurel places an arm on her husband's inner elbow, not wanting The Hood to resurface again.
The Monitor tilts his head downwards a little bit, "I need you to form a League of Heroes. A force that will never be reckoned with for the rest of time, and you already have five ready to helm this new age," Oliver and Laurel look at each other with determination, already knowing who they need to call.
Oliver and Laurel vanish again before being placed in the middle of the bunker, "Call Kara, we need her for this," Oliver calls out to Dig, who is in the middle of the tech area wheeling around.
Dig nods and wheels over to the comms, "Any luck on the implant?" Laurel softly asks Dig.
John slowly shakes his head, "I lost contact with my friend in Gotham, so I haven't been able to get this stupid nerve to work again."
Oliver hangs up his phone, "We'll find it, Dig, don't worry," he says to his friend, "Anyways, I just got off the phone with Kara, and she's going back to her earth to get Clark and Lois."
The elevator opens and Tommy and Rene walk into the bunker, "Try not to puff out your chest this time Ollie," Tommy says with a light-hearted smile towards his brother, who is rolling his eyes at Tommy.
A breach opens in the far wing of the bunker, Oliver looks over and sees Cisco, Wally, and Kara walk through along with Clark and Lois, "Oliver, Wally found a recruit in Gotham that we could bring in."
"No," Oliver says immediately, getting looks from everyone in the bunker, "He's a myth made up by the GCPD to scare off criminals," he says stubbornly as Laurel giggles at her husband's grudge against the original vigilante.
Wally smirks, seeing the antics of Laurel and Oliver, "I'm gonna go anyways," Wally says confidently, "We need all the help we can get, especially because of this whole Crisis thing," Oliver reluctantly nods at Barry's protege.
Ever since Barry's disappearance, Wally travels to Star City every week to train with Oliver to sharpen his skills. Oliver's honestly impressed with Wally's progress since he's progressed faster than Barry ever did.
"Don't forget Steppenwolf!" Kara calls out, playing with Oliver's toys.
Oliver's eyes widened, "Kara!" Kara turns around innocently, "Be careful with my toys," Oliver says like a little kid.
Kara smiles, which is rare nowadays, "No promises Ollie," Kara says with a teasing tone.
Wally arrives in Gotham with Kara behind him, "Wow, this place really gives me the creeps," Kara mumbles to herself.
Wally chuckles, "Tell me about it," he says as the two heroes of Central City change into their civilian clothes. They walk down the sidewalk in silence, still mourning the loss of Barry. He was her rock and his brother, "Are you sure it's Wayne Enterprises?" Wally asks the Kryptonian.
Kara adjusts her glasses before running her hand through her brown hair with a few remnants of her blonde hair, "That's what Barbara told me," Kara tells Wally as they enter the lobby to see a luxurious quartz entrance, "Holy sh-"
Kara is interrupted by the voice of a man, maybe early thirties, "Cool right?" Kara turns around to see none other than Bruce Wayne (from the Gotham show), "My parents built this place years ago, and it's stood for the past five decades," Bruce says proudly before extending his arm to the elevator, "Let's go talk in my office."
Kara and Wally look at each other before nodding and stepping into the elevator, "Wait, why are we going down?" Wally asks dumbly, but Kara smirks, already knowing why based off of the look on Bruce's face.
"You'll see," Bruce says with a grin, knowing all too well that Kara's smirk is hiding loads and loads of grief and pain. Pain that he knows all too well.
The elevator opens and Bruce leads the two heroes into his night office, "Nice digs, bat," Kara says softly, impressed with the layout that Bruce has under his family building.
Wally looks to Bruce, and then the Bat suit on display, and then back at Bruce, "Holy shit!" He yells excitedly, "You're-"
Bruce chuckles at Wally's reaction, reminding him of his own sidekick, "Yes, I'm Batman… Kid Flash," Bruce says, catching Wally totally off guard, "I've been watching you, and your mayor friend over in Star City, who by the way, should totally believe in me," Bruce says with a charming smile, "After all, I am the original vigilante."
Wally leans down to Kara, "This guy is so cool," he says with a grin.
Ignoring Wally, "How are things Bruce?" Kara asks her friend, who she met through her husband.
Bruce gets rid of his act, "They've been great. Things have settled down, which is a bad thing in Gotham. I feel like something big is coming," Bruce studies Kara's face, "And based on your face, this isn't just a business trip, is it?" Bruce asks.
Kara nods, "Remember the Crisis that took-," Kara chokes up on her tears as Wally puts a comforting arm around his sort of sister-in-law.
Bruce nods, "It's coming, isn't it?" Wally nods somberly as Bruce pulls out his phone and dials a number, "Alfred, alert the board that I'm taking a business trip to Central City to scout out a new acquisition," Bruce says before hanging up. He pushes a button on the wall and the Bat suit collapses into a suitcase and two duffle bags drop from the ceiling, "Let's go."
Back in the bunker, its chaos, "Oliver, something's entered the atmosphere!" Dig yells as the heroes look to the screen.
"Suit up!" Oliver yells as the hero's scatter. In a matter of seconds, Oliver and his team burst out the back entrance and travel to the surface, only to be met by Supergirl, Kid Flash, and The Bat. Oliver doesn't believe his eyes, but he doesn't have time to make that observation, "Nice of you to join us," Green Arrow tells Batman, "Now, what the hell is going on out here?!" Green Arrow demands.
Supergirl and Superman look to the skies, narrowing their eyes before looking at each other in horror, "Steppenwolf," they say at the same time.
"Shit," Wally mutters before activating 'Barry Allen' mode. He closes his eyes, and he thinks, "Alright, GA, I know this is your city, but I have a plan," Kid Flash tells the leader before he nods for Flash to continue, "Vibe, I want you to take everyone except GA, the Canaries, Batman, and the Supes to STAR and begin to find a way to get these bastards off our planet and also act as our last line of defense in case anything goes wrong," Cisco nods and opens a breach as the heroes jump through.
"And what do we do?" Batman asks Kid Flash, getting a grin out of the young hero.
"We fight," Kid Flash says confidently as Oliver nods in return.
Green Arrow looks at the seven heroes, "For Barry."
"For Barry!" The team yells in response while Kara stays silent.
She reaches under her uniform and pulls out three rings on a necklace. The Flash Ring and their wedding rings, "For my husband," she whispers, "I love you Barr, always and forever," Kara kisses the rings before hiding them once again.
Speed Force
Nora stops Barry in his tracks, "Barry!"
Barry nods, lightning flowing through his eyes and body, "It's time."
Star City
Steppenwolf looks down at Star City, ready to take it over, "Only seven people to stop me," he chuckles, "Bye bye heroes," Steppenwolf says before boom tubing parademons down to the surface.
The heroes see the demons racing down towards the surface as Oliver knocks an arrow, ready to fire. But before anything can happen, Steppenwolf appears out of thin air and smashes the ground, rumbling the ground, causing the heroes to fall over. Oliver is the first one up, followed by Bruce.
The two billionaires nod at each other, "Let's do this!" Oliver yells as Bruce lets out a roar as the two release their anger on the parademons while the Kryptonians unload their power on Steppenwolf.
Laurel saves her husband from a demon to the back with the help of her cry and Wally is zooming left and right, taking out parademons.
Clark and Kara are getting obliterated by Steppenwolf. Steppenwolf swings his ax left and right, fending off the man and woman of steel. He finally takes Superman down; courtesy of slamming his face into the ground.
Kara screams in terror as Wally, Bruce, Oliver, Sara, and Laurel are being pummeled by the parademons before Steppenwolf kicks Kara to the ground, "Time to kill the last daughter of Krypton," he says, raising his ax to the sky.
Before he can bring his weapon down, a lightning storm forms, knocking all of the parademons off of the humans, frying them to death by lightning. Steppenwolf's ax is split into two halves, causing him to release Kara from his hold.
STAR Labs
Alarms start blaring in the cortex as Dig pulls up surveillance, "There's a large amount of dark matter in a bundle right in the middle of the fight," he says as Cisco pulls up a chair before smiling at Caitlin.
"He's BACK!"
Star City
Green, yellow, red, blue, and white lightning burst through a portal, taking out every single demon in sight. Oliver stands up, clutching his side as Laurel helps him walk over to Kara, "What's happening?" Oliver asks Kara, but she's just as clueless as he is.
"Wait a minute," Wally says with a giant smile on his face, but before he can finish that thought, a figure in a red suit yellow/white lightning flies out of the portal and punches a terrified Steppenwolf a mile away.
Kara puts a hand over her mouth, tears flowing out of her eyes, "Barry?" She whimpers.
Oliver and Laurel look at Kara like she's crazy, but the figure slows to a jog right before their eyes, "Oh my god," Laurel says, tears in her own eyes as she turns to face a starstruck Oliver, who can't begin to fathom how his best friend is still alive.
The figure lowers his cowl, revealing Barry Allen with that same shit-eating grin on his face that Kara grew to love with her whole heart, "Miss me?"
Kara drops to her knees in shock, tears of joy flowing down her cheeks as Barry rushes over to his wife and engulfs her in the strongest hug of his life and Kara hugs back, Kryptonian powers be damned.
"As touching as this reunion is," Bruce says, cutting in, "Allen's gotta pull his cowl up because shit's about to get real."
Barry and Kara stand up and focus on Steppenwolf. Kara flies towards the monster, rejuvenated with strength and pummels him to the ground as Bruce and Oliver throw/fire grappling devices into the shoulders of Steppenwolf.
Barry manages to throw a standing supersonic punch, sending Steppenwolf to the ground, and Laurel holds him down by using her sonic cry.
Wally follows Barry's attack by throwing an abundance of lightning straight into Steppenwolf, causing him to fly into the air, only to be sent back to the ground by a now conscious Superman.
Steppenwolf limps away, terrified. This was supposed to be an easy mission. They said no one was here to protect earth, "Who are you?" Steppenwolf growls, still on the ground.
He looks up to see the eight heroes standing above him, "You know exactly who we are," Barry says with his arms folded.
"I would leave this earth while you have the chance," Kara says, following her husband's statement.
Oliver steps in, "Or you're going to find out exactly how much you failed," he growls, tightening his grip on his bow.
Steppenwolf crawls into a boom tube, and vanishes, "Wait, we can't just let him get away!" Wally says, trying to zoom into the tube only to be caught by Barry.
"He got the message," Laurel says confidently as they walk away from the rubble.
Wally furrows his eyebrows, "What message?"
Barry grabs Kara's hand, "It's a warning," Barry says.
Barry Allen
To anyone who thinks that this earth is prime to conquer, they've got another thing coming.
We cut to Team Arrow protecting the streets of Star City from the Ninth Circle and again to Oliver and Laurel Queen kicking ass in the city council meetings.
This world is protected. Spread the message to others.
Cut again to team Kid Flash as they destroy Blood Work and take down petty crime before zooming in on Wally West speeding away in his new red suit.
Among us are some of the world's finest heroes from all walks of life who are willing to fight back for things that they love.
Bruce returns home to Alfred and a young boy, Tim Drake, who he picks up and gives him a hug and we cut again to Superman flying over in space, watching the world like a hawk.
We are the earth's first line of defense.
