Green Hill was unusually quiet today. The flowers were blooming, the animals were asleep, and the sun was shining bright. The peace was short-lived, since Sonic the Hedgehog suddenly raced by like a blue blur. His feet moved in a blindingly fast figure-8 pattern as he dashed through the hills with a confident smirk. Soon, Tails arrived on his brand new blue bi-plane, the Tornado-4. He equipped the plane with a fancy new rocket engine to keep up with Sonic, and a second seat behind him, occupied by Knuckles the Echidna, who was holding an envelope.
"Yo, Sonic. I got a letter! It's addressed to you!" Knuckles reached out, giving the letter to Sonic, who quickly opened it up. He began reading the letter aloud.
"Dear Sonic and friends, In one week, I am going to conquer the world with my army of badniks. I'll be waiting for you at the edge of Station Square's Ruins. Think you can stop me? Signed, Dr. Ivo Robotnik." Sonic finished reading the letter.
"Station Square? Haven't been there in awhile." Knuckles noted.
"So we have about a week to stop Eggman and his army. What's driving him this time?" Tails asked.
"Not that it really matters. We'll stop him anyway! Egghead wants a fight? He's got one!" Sonic smiled proudly as he accepted Robotnik's challenge. "Let's go, guys! We've got some bots to kick!" Sonic led his buddies to battle. Tails and Knuckles ditched the plane, trusting Tails' autopilot system to take the plane home as the pair ran alongside Sonic, towards another great adventure.
The water was calm that morning, with few noticeable waves. Rouge the Bat was gliding over the seas, scouring the ocean for the entrance to a hideout. As she flew, the whirring sound of rocket shoes was coming up beside her. The shoes belonged to Shadow the Hedgehog, who had a confident stare in his eyes as he glided across the water. He recognized Rouge when he saw her.
"Looking for Omega as well, aren't you?" Shadow asked.
"Oh, Shadow. You haven't skipped a beat, have you?" Rouge responded, in her usual smooth voice. "Omega told me about his new ocean hideout. He said we should meet there and figure out what Eggman's planning." Rouge shrugged as she changed her altitude, gliding slightly higher to gain a better vantage point. Shadow shook his head.
"Eggman… the doctor never quits…" Shadow sighed. The pair noticed a dip in the water level, along with a wide, deep hole.
"That might be it. Let's take a look inside~" Rouge slowed down her flight as she descended into the hole. Shadow rolled into a ball and rolled down the hole after Rouge. The pair reached the bottom in a matter of seconds, with Rouge making a smooth landing and Shadow rolling off a slope and stopping at a large, red door. He politely knocked on the door as Rouge caught up to him. The door had a face scanner, which identified the faces of Shadow and Rouge. The door opened and led into a large room with a wide screen super computer. The mighty machine, E-123 Omega, waited at the computer.
"You've arrived. Thank you for reaching my hideout in a timely manner." Omega spoke with his deep, robotic voice.
"What's the deal, Omega? Tell us what's going on." Shadow quickly ordered. Omega plugged in a fancy USB drive into his supercomputer, revealing a camera placed in the ruins of Station Square, where a new robotics factory was in the works. Badniks were working long and hard, with Robotnik and Metal Sonic watching over the project.
"Eggman's at it again, making more badniks. When will he learn…" Shadow groaned. Rouge's eyes were on the gem harvesting farm off to the side.
"That dirty rotten Eggman! He's taking a bunch of valuable jewels! Once we're done with him, I'm taking those for myself!" Rouge growled.
"Then we have a common goal." Omega responded. "We have precisely seven days until Eggman finishes the factory. I will wipe out all useless consumer models. We will defeat Eggman together." Omega raised his fist, rallying the troops. Rouge and Shadow raised their arms as well.
"Let's go, team. Eggman won't stop himself." Shadow took off, using the nearby speed booster to roll back up the slope as Rogue flew upwards and Omega activated his jet propulsion wings to keep up.
It was a nice sunny day at the beach. Cream the Rabbit was laying down on a beach chair, alongside Big the Cat and Amy Rose, the pink hedgehog.
"What a nice day… I could lay here forever…" Amy stared into the sky, thinking about her beloved Sonic racing through the skies with her. Her peace was quickly interrupted, when two chao flew into the area. A blue one named Cheese, and a brown one named Chocola. The pair of chao cried out to the group. They sounded very worried. Cream looked up from her locket to listen to the Chao. Unlike others, she understood the Chao.
"Cheese is saying that Dr. Robotnik is up to no good again." Cream reported the news.
"Eggman again?! What's he doing this time?" Amy asked, snapping out of her daydream. Big was hardly paying attention, for he was lazily fishing on the beach. His rod sunk slightly, causing him to pull up. Out of the water, a frog emerged.
"Froggy!" Big collected his frog, giving it a fluffy hug.
"Chocola said that Dr. Robotnik and Metal Sonic are building a big factory to produce badniks… enough of them to take over the world." Cream continued.
"Oh, not on our watch! We'll go teach that bad guy a lesson!" Amy got up and revved up to speed, taking off with Cream not far behind. Big got up and followed the girls down the road to chase Robotnik. It was yet another journey for the friends. Amy smiled, hoping to find Sonic as well.
Vector the Crocodile was relaxing in his office, listening to music in his headphones. He was looking at the team computer, examining the detective agency's finances. The agency was barely below the rent once again.
"Dang… why is business always so slow?" Vector groaned. Nearby, Espio the Chameleon sat by himself.
"Perhaps we worked too hard hiding the base. Why did you insist on it being a secret in the first place?" Espio asked. Vector did not have time to answer, since Charmy Bee suddenly busted in with a radio.
"We have a client, guys! We've got one!" Charmy excitedly shouted.
"Whaat? Really?!" Vector asked, surprised.
"A client? What do they need?" Espio chimed in with a cautious tone.
"Greetings, Chaotix Detective Agency… I'm glad I could reach you." A low, male voice came out from the radio. "I require your assistance. Dr. Robotnik has captured me and hidden me away. I need your help to demolis Robotnik's factory and save me from him. I have enough money to pay you handsomely for your services." The voice detailed the mission. Charmy and Vector saw money in their eyes.
"Yes, sir! We're happy to help!" Charmy and Vector replied. Espio stayed silent, crossing his arms.
"Excellent. Keep your eyes open for badniks, and don't die on me. I cannot cover death insurance." The voice then hung up. Vector and Charmy took off running.
"I have a bad feeling about this… we've been duped before…" Espio sighed as he ran to catch up with the others. There were four groups of three characters, all chasing the same person. This was going to be a rough mission for everyone.
