Ch8 - Movie Day pt2

I adjusted my position on the couch, as the movie was about to start. I lay my head on Killian's chest as the movie started, when Walt Disney's name appeared on the screen; he muttered something along the lines of

'how does this Disney fellow know so much about Belle, Snow White, Prince Charming and Regina?'

I stifled a laugh, I don't think he meant to think out loud; he's so cute when he's confused.

I focused my attention back on the movie, the opening scene showed a forest.

Music began to play in the background, as the view drew closer to the castle in the background. The narration started, we heard the story of young prince who lived in a shining castle, and despite having everything he was spoiled and selfish.

We listened at the narrator explained that she punished him by cursing him; when he was transformed into a hideous beast, a spell was cast over the castle and all who lived there were cursed too.

I could hear Killian's breath hitch, when the curse was mentioned. I moved out of his hold slightly, and I peered up at his face.

Why do Disney movies contain curses? Maybe next time I should find one that doesn't contain a curse.

He smiled reassuringly, I then settled back into his embrace; the beast appeared on the screen as damaged his royal portrait.

Yeah, there's no way that would be able to be fixed; unless the broken spell can fix it, the scene shifted to show an enchanted mirror that would allow him to see the outside world.

I couldn't help but focus on the flower which was encased in a glass dome, the narrator explained it was the rose that the enchantress offered to the prince; it would continue to bloom until his twenty first birthday.

I listened as the narration went on to explain that it he couldn't find someone, then he would be doomed and unfortunately for him he would remain a beast for the rest of his life.

I shuddered, as I tried to imagine the pressure he must have been feeling when he would have to remain a beast for the foreseeable future.

Killian tightened his arm around me when he felt me shudder. I smiled internally, he probably thought I was cold. He's so sweet.

I held my breath as the narration was wrapping up. I knew based on his reaction so far Killian will tell Belle about this movie.

The title then flashed up on the screen and it faded, we watched as a small house and then Belle appeared on the screen.

She began to sing, as we watched her walk into the village; the villagers popped up in various places and started to sing as well.

I couldn't help but hum softly along with the tune, as Belle was describing the scene that was unfolding through song; we both laughed as the baker made his way down the little street, tray in hand; packed with bread and rolls.

She greeted the villager with a cart full of pumpkins and curtsied when he spoke. The song was interrupted as the baker greeted her; they made light conversation.

I couldn't help but pay close attention as she explained that she was going to the bookshop, as the book she finished reading was about a beanstalk, and an ogre.

I'm guessing it was a reference to Jack and the Beanstalk, the ogre I wasn't so sure about. There's nothing magical about a beanstalk, believe me.

When the baker interrupted her, I laughed internally as her expression changed when he shouted to his wife about the baguettes.

Belle then continued on her journey to the bookshop only to be called strange by two women.

We laughed again when we watched a young boy being chased by a pig. Belle waltzed through the village, without a care in the world about what the villagers thought about her.

The song continued in the background as the villagers greeted one another, one villager asked for eggs. Belle entered the bookshop, and she greeted the bookseller.

The scene continued as she picked out a new book, It was one she had read before; one about far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells and a prince in disguise.

She was then given the book, because she loved it so much. I couldn't help but open my mouth in shock, because this character was very much like the Belle that resided here in Storybrooke.

They had the same level of passion for books, as the movie progressed, Belle made her way out of the bookshop and walked through the village as the people commented about how she was a puzzle to them all because she reads.

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with being different, it's kind of cool that Belle wants to read.

The villagers kind of suck, we watched on as she sat down on a ledge of a fountain so enthralled by her book; she didn't notice the woman trying to wash something and the sheep that began to gather round her.

She sang about the book, and how the princess in her book won't realise the prince has found her until the third chapter.

Thats when a shepherd ran across the screen as he tried to herd the sheep. The scene then cut to a woman in a hat shop, she was another person to make a comment about Belle; what is with the people in this village?

It's ok to be different, this movie really likes to make fun of those who enjoy reading.

The scene transitioned and we were introduced to Gaston and his sidekick LaFou, well I think he's a sidekick; Gaston shot down a goose.

We both laughed a little louder than we should have when LaFou failed to catch it.

We couldn't help but laugh again, as he stuffed it into the bag and he ran over to Gaston. I rolled my eyes at the blatant ass kissing, which inflated Gaston's ego.

Gaston was far too confident, that guy didn't need to have his ego boosted. Did he really think that she would marry him?

I tried not to laugh as he began singing to the same tune, that Belle had been singing moments ago. He checked himself in the mirror, that's when I heard Killian laugh again.

There was a strong, anti prince vibe coming from Gaston; we watched as he took off to follow her, three blondes swooned over him.

Gaston fought his way through the crowded street, on his pursuit; the villagers started singing again, Belle whimsically walking down the street; book clutched in her hands.

I snickered as Gaston declared that he was going to make Belle his wife, and just the song was ending; we watched him walk over people and houses.

Belle made her way from the crowd, the villagers dispersed after the song ended.

Belle lost in her book, didn't even notice Gaston in front of her; until he spoke. He snatched the book from her grasp.

As politely as she could she asked him to return the book to her. He tried to decipher it, as it had no pictures; a look I can only describe as perplexed as he studied it and discovered it had no pictures.

He questioned Belle. How could she read a book that had no pictures? It shows you how dumb Gaston was, she lightly quipped that people use their imagination.

That's when he tossed the book onto the ground, you could tell Belle was slightly annoyed; but she took it in her stride and rebuffed his advances, and I thought it was kind of cool how as he kept talking down to her that she was able to almost block him out; while trying to be polite.

I loved that she stood up for herself, and didn't let a guy like him dictate to her what he thought a woman's purpose in life was.

She then made her way back home, her father was an inventor; he had invented all sorts of different things, but they never worked. We watched as he packed up and explained that he was going on a trip.

He promised he would bring back a white rose, as it's something she always asked for. When I was little, I wished to have parents and for them to be like this; you know kind and caring.

Turns out I did have parents, and they weren't all I imagined them to be, however they were kind and caring. So I was very fortunate to have found them.

I refocused on the movie as I watched Belle bid him goodbye...
