Set during the Golden Age. Lots of details, such as the Smithy and Sir Peridan's family are borrowed from the lovely elecktrum! Go read their fics!

Galma

To High King Peter,

I have landed safely in Galma. It began to blizzard not an hour after we reached the docks. Thank the Lion it was not any sooner.

Poor Giles was seasick nearly the whole way. We'll have to keep him off boats in the future.

I start trade negotiations tomorrow. Tell Edmund to pack warm clothes for his visit to the Blue River Smithy.

May my love and Aslan be with you,

Queen Susan the Gentle

Cair Paravel, Narnia

To Queen Susan,

I am glad to hear of your safe arrival in Galma. The blizzard has hit here too. It's delayed Edmund's visit and put him in a foul mood. Lu made it her job to distract him, much to his displeasure.

Lu says to remind you to have fun.

All my love,

High King Peter

P.S. This is Edmund. See if you can't get a gift for Bricket and the Smithy while you're there. I'll pay you back.

Galma

To King Edmund,

I've sent some pelts from Galma and the Lone Islands, along with a few rare metals and some sea shells. If the shells aren't useful for the smithy's crafts, then perhaps the children shall enjoy them. At the very least, mayhaps a new "Babagee the Biter" legend will be born.

I hope you can stay out of trouble this year, Ed. Or at least avoid getting injured.

I've found some interesting law books here (or I've been told they're interesting) and I'll bring some back for you.

Negotiations have concluded; I'll be returning to the Cair tomorrow morn.

All my love,

Queen Susan

29th day of Nor'Wind, year 1003

Cair Paravel

Ed,

I've sent this with Su's letter, if you haven't noticed. I've sent along a sizeable amount of salt too. Hopefully those gifts will be enough to please Chief Bricket.

It's terribly lonely without you. Oreius and Kanell about pummeled me into the ground this morn without you to watch my back.

I can't quite sleep properly either without you here. Don't tell Susan I said that.

A lord arrived from Archenland last night, requesting to live here in Narnia. Peridan is his name. He's married, with two sons about our ages and daughter that's about Lucy's age.

He seems very nice. We've agreed to let him stay here for a few months, in case we spot any glaring flaws in his character. Susan seems to have gathered from his wife, the Lady Saera, that they weren't treated all that well in Archenland.

I'm off to watch Xati assess the Lord Peridan's skills with a blade.

Aslan be with you,

Peter

1st day of Snowbrice, year 1003

Blue River Smithy

To High King Peter,

You may tell Susan that her pelts were well received. They have been added to the list of Babagee's victims. Her shells were the highest praised gift. There's an ongoing squabble about what they should be used for; much to my amusement.

Your salt was highly appreciated too, as always.

You really need to figure out how to sleep without me there, Peter. Maybe someone in the kitchens knows of a tea that helps with sleep? Look into it, Narnia can't have her high king suffering from lack of sleep every time we're apart.

I can't pass any judgement on Lord Peridan if you don't give me any real information about him, Peter!

Start by getting to know his sons. They can probably tell you more about their father than you'll ever get by talking directly to him.

I am curious to know how he held up against Xati. Based on the last time I faced her one on one, he didn't hold up very well.

I've started to learn how to forge a sword. By started, I mean I've watched Bricket forge one, and I've watched some of the masters instruct apprentices on how to forge one. I expect I probably won't have touched one by the end of my time here this year.

I'm being yelled at to get to work now.

My love for you and the girls,

King Edmund the Just

6th day of Snowbrice, year 1003

Cair Paravel

To King Edmund,

Lucy sent some handkerchiefs for with, since you forgot to pack more than one.

I'm happy to know the gifts were well received.

Hopefully this letter reaches you before you depart from the Smithy. The smiths here at the Cair asked that I send along a request for some armor and weapons. I've enclosed that as well.

Negotiations in Galma went well. I'll have a copy of the trade agreement waiting for you when you get back.

Peter has requested that you remember to bathe before you leave, Edmund.

Aslan be with you,

Queen Susan

P.S. Sir Peridan and his family are well liked by the residents of the Cair. Peter said you'd want to know that.

10th day of Snowbrice, year 1003

Blue River Smithy

Susan,

Your letter has reached me the night before I leave. I've passed along the order to the masters. There was some grumbling, but when is there not?

The handkerchiefs were very welcome, I wore out the only one I brought.

Tell Peter not to worry, I took a bath. With the soap he sends every time I visit.

I'll see you in a few days; you can catch me up on negotiations and the Cair's newest residents then.

All my love,

Edmund

Leave a review if you enjoyed! Uploads will be slowing down for this one, since I've started another Narnia fic that is consuming more of my time.
