Ch20 - Breakfast pt1

After yesterdays revelation, I knew I had to talk to my dad; I needed to know why he couldn't tell me about being afraid himself. Knowing my dad, he probably thought if the information came from Killian; that it would have been easier for me to process.

He was half right, I was kind of surprised that I had woken up before Killian this morning; usually it's me who likes to stay in bed for as long as I can, especially when I've nowhere to be.

I got up and headed towards the bathroom, I guess it wouldn't hurt to let him sleep while I shower. I gathered my underwear and clothes, and made my way into the bathroom.

As I showered I tried to come up with a plan on how to wake Killian, I had two options; one: whisper in his ear and two: straddle him and kiss him awake.

I finished showering; I then headed back into the bedroom, I then made my way round to Killian's side of the bed.

I crouched down, placing my hand on his cheek; I whispered softly in his ear.

"Killian, come on; you need to get up, we are having breakfast with my mom and dad soon"

I moved my gaze to his face, he was sound asleep; time for option two, I stood up and straddled him over the sheet. I leaned down again, I giggled softly; as I placed my hands on his chest.

I placed my lips on his, I added a bit more pressure; my lips remaining on his as I waited for him to respond, I shrieked softly when I felt his hand gently glide up my side.

I felt him shift slightly, and his hand dropped back to the bed; that's when I leaned back, I couldn't help the smirk that formed on my lips.

That's when another giggle escaped my mind and that's when he opened his eyes, he was finally awake; I leaned back down and placed my lips on his once more.

I grinned as he propped himself up on his forearms, so he could deepen the kiss; he then dropped back down onto the bed, taking me with him, he locked his arms around me.

I laughed softly, only to be stopped as the kiss deepened further; I had to pull back, trying not to giggle as he playfully protested. I sat up so I was straddling him again.

He peered up at me, and he smirked.

"That's one hell of a way to wake a man up Swan, remind me why I have to be up at this hour?"

I then turned my head slightly and glanced at the clock on the bedside table, we had twenty minutes before we had to be at the loft.

My gaze refocused on the barely awake pirate, who was still lying on the bed below me. I leaned down and kissed him softly, and pulling back again before he could deepen the kiss once again.

I tilted my head down and smiled at him, before speaking.

"Good morning, I'm sorry but we have twenty minutes before we have to be at the loft for breakfast with my mom and dad"

He nodded, and moved to get up; but not before placing his lips on mine. Once the kiss ended, he smirked again before speaking.

"Good morning beautiful, it's my own fault; I don't know why I slept in. I'll just grab a quick and bracing shower, and I'll meet you downstairs"

I grinned, and watched as he gathered his stuff and headed into the bathroom. I walked downstairs and made my way into the kitchen, I made two cups of coffee; and waited patiently for Killian to join me at the table.

I took the time to decide how I was going to approach my dad, talking has never been my strong suit; but I was willing to give it a shot. My dad and I are both awkward in that aspect, I guess the only way I'll be able to talk to him is if we talk outside on the stairs.

I glanced at the cup of coffee in my hands, I let myself get lost in its aroma. I must have been lost in thought, because I jumped slightly; when I heard Killian walk into the kitchen.

I looked up, and smiled; I noticed Killian was trying to stifle a laugh, I rolled my eyes. I looked at him again, and I noticed his hair was still damp from his shower.

He sat down at the table, and lifted the cup of coffee that I left for him. I peered up at the clock on the wall, if we didn't leave soon, my mom wouldn't let us live it down.

I stopped myself from suggesting that we forget about breakfast and stay in bed, but as tempting as that thought; we can't, I then glanced over at Killian and judging by the look on his face, he had the same thought.

He leaned in to kiss me, I pulled back slightly.

"Sorry handsome, we can't get distracted; and I was thinking after breakfast I might talk to my dad and let him in on what's been going on, not that my mom hasn't already. I just want to let him know what was going on with me in my own words"

He nodded in understanding, he lifted my hand and kissed it; I grinned at him and, then looked at the clock on the wall.

I stood up making my way to the front door, I waited for Killian to join me; we then made our way out the door and just about made it to the loft with a few minutes to spare.

I lifted my hand to knock, because I definitely didn't want to walk in; given what happened the last time I did that. Killian cleared his throat.

He looked at me perplexed, I laughed; knowing that I had to explain.

"A few years ago, Henry and I walked in here and found my parents in bed making 'tacos' and well let's just say it was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life"

He laughed again, and I knocked the door; a few seconds later my mom opened it, Neal perched in her arms. I grinned at my little brother, who reached out to me.

My mom handed him over to me, as she brought us inside; my dad was standing at the stove, he turned around slightly as he spoke.

"Hey, I hope you guys are hungry; I'm making your favourite Emma"

I smiled at him, before I spoke; laughter in my voice as I did.

"Let me guess dad, you're making pancakes? Just don't go overboard this time, it took me a couple of weeks to get through the last batch you made"

He grinned at me, I then heard Killian chuckle at the mention of pancakes; I shifted Neal to my other hip, so I could elbow Killian in the ribs.

I grinned as I heard him grunt softly at the impact of my elbow hitting his ribs, my mom looked at us as; before she lifted Neal out of my arms and placed him into his high chair.

We moved over to the table, Killian held my chair out so I could sit down; I kissed his cheek as I sat down, he followed suit. My mom joined us at the tables, that's when I noticed the confusion on her face.

She spoke.

"Emma is there a reason as to why you knocked the door this morning?"

I smiled, and looked at Killian; who smiled at me, I turned back to answer my mom.

"Yeah, I just didn't want to walk right in; because of what happened the last time I did"

She laughed softly remembering why, she then smiled at me, she spoke.

"Ah yes, the tacos incident"

My eyes widened in embarrassment again, and I heard my dad laugh along with my mom.

"Yeah, it's funny because Killian asked the same question when we arrived"

My dad was still laughing, this time Killian joined in; I placed my head in my hands, my mom placed her hand on my wrist as she tried to coax my hands from my face.

Before she could, my dad asked if she could help him with the plates; I could hear as she made her way to the counter. I could feel Killian place his arm around my shoulders, as he leaned down to whisper in my ear.

"Emma love, don't be embarrassed; come on darling, let me see that beautiful face of yours before your mother comes back with our pancakes"

I dropped my hands, and glanced up at him; he then leaned down and kissed me softly, just as my mom was making her way back towards us with the plates in her hands.

I looked up and smiled in thanks, as the plate was placed down in front of me; I could hear Killian chuckle softly as my mom placed his plate down.

My dad turned the stove off, and lifted the other two plates for him and my mom; he sat down beside my mom, he smiled at me and we managed to eat in a comfortable silence.

My mom took a break every few seconds to feed Neal, as we made light conversation between mouthfuls of food; after we finished breakfast, my mom got up lifted Neal out of his high chair.

I smiled at him again, and I glanced up at Killian; who was also watching my brother, my dad cleared his throat. My gaze drifted to him, and I tilted my head slightly; I guess it's time to talk to my dad.

I tried to still the nerves, as I tried to find the courage to ask my dad if we could talk.

I took a deep breath, and then I spoke.

"Hey, Dad...can I talk to you?"

I inclined my head to the door, trying to indicate that I wanted to talk to him outside. He nodded, and stood up; I walked out ahead of him, I sat down on the top of the stairs.

My dad sat down beside me, he then placed his arm around me.

"Emma, what's wrong?"

I shifted slightly to look at him, before speaking.

"Nothings wrong dad, it's just I wanted to talk to you about what you told Killian; why couldn't you tell me yourself? I mean I get it, I do. I'm guessing the reason for asking him to tell me probably has something to do with you thinking it would be better coming from him, and you were right; but I still want to know why you didn't want to tell me yourself"

He looked at me and kissed my forehead softly, before answering.

"Emma sweetheart, I knew that Killian would be able to find the right words to explain everything; honestly I wasn't sure if you would have believed me if I had told you myself, especially after the conversation you had with your mother"

I wasn't sure how to react, so I leaned my head down on his shoulder; I took a deep breath and then spoke.

"Dad, I get it; you and mom were afraid and I don't blame you, because you guys were dealing with a curse and you lost your memory again. I have to admit when mom asked me if I wanted to have another baby, I freaked out; but when she explained that I would just have to ask the question directly. I panicked, and when I finally found the courage to ask the question; well Killian went quiet and it scared me and I lashed out. I interpreted his silence for not wanting to have a baby with me due to my past, only to discover that wasn't the case"

I could hear his breath catch in his chest, as he lifted my head; he smiled at me.

"Emma, you went through a lot all those years ago; but I'm sure Killian told you that you have a family, and that we will be here for you. You won't have to go through it alone, your mother and I will be with you every step of the way, and besides your mother and I can't wait to be grandparents again"

I laughed softly at his last comment, I shifted again and I hugged him. I broke the hug, to speak again.

"Thanks dad, I love you"

He smiled, kissing my forehead again.

"I love you too Emma, always"

I grinned, as he helped me up; we made our way back into the loft, where my mom and Killian were still sitting at the table. My mom glanced at us, knowing that we needed that moment alone; Killian placed his arm around me again.

He spoke softly

"Feeling better now love?"

I nodded, and leaned into his embrace.
