AN: Thank you for the reviews, anyway this chapter features a song that I like; and I couldn't help but think of Captain Swan, so this idea popped into my head. Emma overhears Killian talking in his sleep, and she doesn't know what to think; as he mentions another character. Ch30 - Talking in your sleep

I smiled softly, before turning slightly; placing my lips on his in a soft, yet loving kiss. After a few moments, I turned around again; closing my eyes and drifting back to sleep, feeling safe and warm in the arms of my pirate...

As I drifted off, I could hear Killian shift slightly; as he tightened his arms around me, his breathing evened out as he settled back down. My breathing had just started to even out, when I heard him speak softly against my skin.

"Sleep well my love"

I smiled internally, as we both drifted off again; I drifted in and out of consciousness, and when I awoke again I lifted my phone to check the time; it was 10:30am.

That's when I realised that I'd been sleeping for at least 2 hours, I turned and I noticed that Killian was still sleeping; I smiled softly as I watched his face, I could have sworn I noticed it twitching.

I leaned in closer, my suspicion was confirmed when happened it again; that's I felt my brow furrow.

What could he possibly be dreaming about? It wasn't until his breathing hitched, that I became panicked. I listened as he uttered something.

My confusion, turned to mild jealousy; as when he spoke once more, I watched as his dream took hold again, my heart sank; because what he said, well I wasn't expecting him to utter the one name that means so much to him apart from my own.

"Milah..."

What?! What on earth is he dreaming about? Is it possible, even after all this time; he's still not over losing her? Even after everything we've been through? Between curses, him dying, going to the underworld and being confirmed to be true love?

After all that, he still thinks about her? I mean don't get me wrong, I totally get it; you never get over losing someone like that and I sort of went through the same thing with Graham, I was so lost and angry when he died after getting his heart crushed by Regina.

I loosened his hold, and propped myself up against the headboard; and I continued to watch Killian as he dreamt about his first love. And as I watched, I couldn't help but think of the song Talking In Your Sleep by The Romantics.

As I say against the headboard, tears formed in the corners of my eyes. I shouldn't feel like this, because we're married; and I know that he loves me, but he also loved her once, a long time ago.

I lifted my phone again and I found the song, I downloaded it; I plugged in my headphones, my eyes drifted close as I listened to the song.

"When you close your eyes and go to sleep, and it's down to the sound of a heartbeat; I can hear the things that you're dreaming about. When you open up your heart, and the truth comes out."

That's when I thought about the time in the Enchanted Forest, when Killian and I were climbing the beanstalk, and during our climb he asked me if I had ever been in love, and my answer was that I hadn't.

It was true, I had never been in love before; but he had been, with her... With Milah.

"You tell me that you want me, You tell me that you need me, You tell me that you love me. And I know that I'm right, 'Cause I hear it in the night, I hear the secrets that you keep. When you're talking in your sleep"

Why all of a sudden is he thinking about her? We fought so hard to get here, darkness, Hades, different realms. All of that led to this, to our happy beginning; there's bound to be a reasonable explanation as to why he's thinking about her.

I listened as the song continued.

"When I hold you in my arms at night, don't you know you're sleeping in the spotlight; and all your dreams that you keep inside, you're telling me the secrets that you just can't hide. When you close your eyes and you fall asleep, Everything about you is a mystery"

After it ended, my eyes opened again; I peered down and I noticed that Killian was starting to wake up. I removed my headphones, and placed my phone back on the bedside table. I however, stayed where I was; which was against the headboard.

I felt his gaze land on where I was sitting, I could hear the confusion in his voice as he spoke.

"Swan, is everything alright love? Did you sleep at all?"

I peered down, and I smiled slightly; I tried to keep my tone as light as I possibly could.

"Everything is fine, and yeah I slept for a while; did you have a nice nap?"

He smiled at me, before nodding; he then spoke.

"Yes thank you, however I was quite surprised that you weren't in my arms when I awakened"

My heart sank, and my thoughts immediately went to the reason why. But should I tell him the reason? I took a breath, before I spoke.

Here goes nothing.

"Sorry, I just needed some space"

He leaned up against the headboard, shifting slightly to face me; and that's when I noticed the confused look on his face, he then spoke.

"Emma love, did something happen?"

I glanced at him, before speaking.

"Yeah, you could say that...Ok, so you...I woke up before you and I noticed that your face was twitching, so I watched you; and well after a few minutes, you uttered something I couldn't quite catch..."

His facial expression changed to one of horror.

"Love what did I say?"

I tore my gaze away from his, before I spoke again.

"You said a name, well the name of someone you love"

He called my name softly, and I turned to face him; and when my gaze was back on his, he smiled before he spoke.

"Well you my love, are always on my mind"

I shook my head, before looking away from him again; I took another deep breath, before telling him that he didn't say my name.

"And you're on mine a lot too babe, but you didn't say my name..."

He spoke again, confusion coloured his tone again.

"Swan, if I didn't say your name, then who's name did I speak?"

I paused, glancing up at him; before speaking quickly

"It shouldn't surprise you, but you said Milah"

His breath hitched again, he spoke once more; apology clear in his tone as he did so.

"Emma love..."

I held my hand up to stop him, as I blinked away the tears that were threatening to fall from my eyes; after a few seconds, I felt his hand on my chin, as he tried to tilt my face up towards him.

I stubbornly kept my gaze down, because I didn't want him to see me like this; he relented, and removed his hand from my chin. I heard him sigh, before he spoke.

"Swan please look at me, come on love; let me see those beautiful green eyes"

I peered over at him, and once I was looking at him; he continued speaking.

"Love, I'm sorry that you heard that; I just happened to be lost in a dream, well more so a nightmare; one I haven't had in a long time, well actually since I met you. It was about the day I lost Milah and my hand..."

I gasped slightly, after hearing her name again; I shouldn't feel like this, I mean I met her in the Underworld, yeah it was awkward. But she was nice, but I just can't help but feel jealous; because she had him first.

At hearing my gasp, he placed his hand on my leg; he glanced at me again, before he continued telling me about his dream.

"This time however I was lost in the dream, and it always ends right after I lose her. So what you heard was the end of my dream, yes she was my first love; and yes I swore to avenge her death, but she wasn't my true love. Because it turns out that my true love, just happened to be the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming; and she was well worth the wait"

I smiled slightly at his confession, so that's when I leaned up and placed my arms around him. We sat in a comfortable silence, for what seemed like eternity; I replayed his words in my head, before speaking.

"I'm sorry, I should have known it would be about that day; because not only did you lose her, you also lost your hand. And that can't have been easy for you, and I'm sorry for leaving your arms; I just needed a bit of space. You have no idea the kind of thoughts that were going round in my head, I know that she was your first love; and back in the Underworld I met her..."

I heard as his breath hitched once more, before he spoke.

"You met Milah?"

I nodded, before speaking again.

"Yeah, I did; Gold introduced us, it was shocking at first. The reason was because Gold introduced her as Neal's mom and your ex. Of course he didn't hold back in telling her who I was, and my connection to you both. And well Milah reacted the only way someone would in that situation, she actually said So you've been with both my son and my former lover? You should have seen my face, let's just say I was glad it was a brief interaction"

He smiled softly, before leaning down to kiss my forehead; my eyes closed briefly at the contact. He leaned back, smiling once more; before speaking.

"Emma Jones, I love you and only you; you are my true love, and I'm sorry that I made you doubt your place in my heart. I also want you to remember that Milah was my past, and you my love; you are my present and you are my future. My heart is yours Emma, it's been yours since that day we climbed that infernal beanstalk"

My eyes widened, I've had his heart since then? Wow! I didn't realise that he cared back then, well apparently he did. I gazed up at his face, and I smiled softly; before speaking.

"Killian, I don't know what I did to deserve you; I never thought that I would find true love, mostly because I didn't believe in it until you. And I can't believe it, but you were right all those years ago; I had never been in love, until I met you and I tried to ignore it. I was scared because of my past with Neal, then Graham and yes even Walsh; even though the last one wasn't real, because he was a flying monkey. Anyway I guess what I'm trying to say, is that you're my true love, my present and my future too; and you have my heart, you've had my heart for longer than I wanted to admit"

That's when I felt myself being lifted and placed into his lap; and his arms were placed around me again, we sat like that for the rest of the morning.

Just two true loves, enjoying each other's company...
