Chapter 3: Change the Future
Bulma's house…
When both Trunks and Coco arrived at Capsule Corp, they both walked inside as they saw Bulma wearing an orange jumpsuit with a wrench in hand before she turned to face them and wiped some sweat from her face with a smile as she said, "Good. You're just in time Trunks as I have just finished building the Time machine." She then noticed Coco next to Trunks as she added, "Oh, I didn't see you there Coco it's good to see you! And look at you, the last time I saw you was when you were just a little kid."
Coco rubbed the back of her head and smiled at Bulma as she replied, "It's uh good to see you too Bulma, sorry about the destruction I caused last time. I uh…wasn't exactly myself." Bulma smiled at Coco as she walked over to her and gave her a hug and said,
"Oh don't worry about that Coco, it's in the past. Besides, at least you don't have to worry about anymore late night rampages since my son Trunks removed your tail."
Trunks then smiled at his mother Bulma as he said, "It was nothing really mom, I was just…helping out a friend. But now that you've finished the Time machine, Coco and myself can go back to the past and save everyone by warning them about the Androids." Bulma looked at Trunks as she took a deep breath and replied,
"Hopefully, if everything goes smoothly. We'll only get one chance to fix this, so you two better be careful. Messing around with time could have serious consequences."
Coco then smiled at Bulma as she said, "Don't worry, Trunks and I will be careful and we will be back before you know it." Bulma looked at Coco and replied,
"Luckily the Time machine has enough room for two people, so what are you two standing around for? Get a move on and fix this mess already!"
Trunks began climbing into the Time machine and smiled at Bulma as he said, "Don't worry mom, once we rescue everyone we hopefully won't have to worry about this being our future." Coco then climbed into the Time machine behind Trunks as she looked back at Bulma and added,
"Yeah Trunks is right, if everything goes well then we can look forward to a brighter future together with everyone."
Trunks then fired up the Time machine as the engine roared for a few minutes and a ball of energy began to appear around the machine, eventually the machine disappeared along with both Trunks and Coco as they travelled back through time in the hopes of preventing their future from becoming a reality.
The Past…
When the Time machine appeared in the Wastelands, both Trunks and Coco got out from the machine and looked around before Coco looked at Trunks as she asked, "Did it work? Where are we?" Trunks looked back at Coco and replied,
"I'm not quite sure, let's try and find Goku and the others so that we can warn them about the Androids."
Coco nodded her head at Trunks as she said, "Right. I just hope that we aren't too late. Maybe we should split up, cover more ground that way?" Trunks looked at Coco as he smiled and replied,
"Good thinking. You go to the City and see if you have any luck finding the others, I'll search the Desert to see if I can find Goku and the others."
After Trunks had left for the Desert to start his search for Goku and the others, Coco took a deep breath as she said to herself, "Right. Time to head towards West City to try and find the others." Before she then started flying towards West City to begin her search for the others. When she arrived in West City, Coco first went to Capsule Corp and took a deep breath as she knocked on the door and waited for a response.
Eventually the door opened and Bulma looked at Coco for a few minutes before she perked a brow as she asked, "Do I know you? What do you want?" Coco then took a deep breath as she smiled at Bulma and replied,
"Well…technically you do know me, just probably not this version of me at least…not yet anyway. See I'm sorta from the future or at least a future that is yet to happen."
Bulma shook her head at Coco as she said, "That's impossible! The only way you could be standing here right now would be if someone built some kind of Time machine." Coco rubbed the back of her head as she looked at Bulma and replied,
"Well, in the era I'm from you built a Time machine that allowed myself and your son Trunks to come back here to try and prevent our future from becoming a reality. I know that is probably a lot for you to take in right now."
Bulma looked at Coco and let out a small sigh as she said, "Why don't you come inside as I feel like I need to sit down whilst I try to wrap my head around what you told me. The least I could do is get you a drink after coming all this way."
Meanwhile…
Trunks continued searching in the Desert for Goku and the others, he smiled as he saw Piccolo in the distance along with Yamcha and Tien. As he approached them, Piccolo scowled at him as he said, "Trunks? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be training with Goten?" Trunks looked at Piccolo as he took a deep breath and replied,
"Goten? Right…the attack hasn't happened yet."
Yamcha looked a little confused at Trunks as he said, "Attack? What are you talking about?" Tien also looked at Trunks and said,
"Yeah, what attack? Just what are you talking about anyway?"
Trunks looked at Piccolo and the others and took a deep breath as he replied, "Everyone listen up, several months from now two Androids named 17 and 18 will destroy West City and…where I'm from, you all die fighting these Androids."
Yamcha looked at Trunks as he replied, "So…if we get killed fighting these Androids, does that mean that you're the only survivor where you're from?" Trunks shook his head at Yamcha and said,
"No, I came here with someone else. Her name is Coco and she's a Saiyan like my father and Goku."
Tien smiled at Trunks as he said, "That name sounds familiar, she's Gohan and Videl's kid. She's pretty strong for someone so small too. If she's here with Trunks then we can trust her. Yamcha and I will go to Kami's lookout to warn the others." Piccolo then looked at both Yamcha and Tien and replied,
"I'll go too. If these Androids really are as strong as you claim, then we're going to need all the help we can get. Trunks, you should head back to Coco then meet us at Kami's lookout."
Back at Bulma's house…
Both Bulma and Coco were sitting at a table in the kitchen as Bulma said, "So…let me get this straight, at some point in the future I build a Time machine that allows you and my son Trunks to go back in time to try and stop some Androids from destroying the City?" Coco stared into her cup for a few minutes and replied,
"Pretty much yeah. And also to save all of our friends. In the future that myself and your son Trunks are from, we're the only ones who were left alive except for you. As…everyone else, like my parents Gohan and Videl all died fighting these Androids."
Bulma paused for a minute as she thought to herself before she then smiled slightly at Coco as she said, "Well, if I know one place you could find my husband then it would probably be Kami's lookout. Goku will likely be there as well. I hope that helps." Coco smiled at Bulma and replied,
"That actually helps me out a lot, thanks. Hopefully it's not too late for me to warn them about the Androids."
Then just as Coco was leaving Bulma's house, she opened the door and saw Trunks standing outside as she looked at him and said, "Any luck finding the others?" Trunks looked slightly shocked before he nodded his head at Coco and replied,
"I managed to find Piccolo, Yamcha and Tien. They're going to meet us at Kami's lookout, with any luck my father and Goku should be there as well. We should head there as well."
Coco smiled at Trunks as she said, "Right, we can't afford to waste anymore time standing around here, let's get going for Kami's lookout." Before then both Trunks and Coco began flying towards Kami's lookout and Bulma waved them off and said,
"Be careful, you two."
