Ch32 - The Truth Will Set You Free Pt2

I stood my ground, there was no way he was getting out of this; I glared at him, before deciding to cast a truth spell. Killian and I then watched on as the spell took hold...

I spoke, after the spell took hold.

"I'm going to ask you again, what happened in the Underworld with you and Milah?"

He looked at me, before speaking.

"You want the truth?..."

I nodded, as he spoke.

"Don't say I didn't warn you..."

He paused slightly, before glancing at Killian; he then continued speaking.

"When the opportunity arose to visit the Underworld, I knew that I would find her there; so I tracked her down. It was rather easy, as she was standing in the middle of the street watching some children; which was ironic, because she abandoned our son. We talked..."

My eyes narrowed slightly, thinking he was evading the question. I then spoke.

"And then what happened?"

He grinned, before speaking again.

"You arrived, which was perfect timing; as it gave me the opportunity to introduce you to Milah"

I cringed when I remembered the awkward encounter, I turned slightly to look at Killian, who was focused on Gold. My gaze landed on Gold once more, I tried to keep my tone as light as I possibly could.

"Thanks for that by the way"

He smirked, before answering.

"Yes, I must admit it was rather awkward wasn't it?"

I swallowed softly, before glancing up at Killian; I noticed his gaze was still trained on Gold, and that's when I spoke again.

"Yeah, and if I remember correctly you referred to my relationship with your son as a torrid affair"

I watched as Gold smirked again, before speaking.

"Yes well, you barely knew each other; and let's not forget that torrid affair led to you having my grandson in jail and then you gave him away. So I guess you're just like Milah"

My eyes widened, I still felt guilty over that; I went to speak, but was interrupted by Killian.

"Emma is a wonderful mother, as was Milah; they did what they thought was best for their children"

Gold smirked before speaking.

"You're the one that wanted the truth"

I took a breath, calming my nerves; before speaking again.

"Ok, my relationship with Neal and giving Henry up for adoption aside; I want you to tell me what you did to Milah, because after our brief encounter I don't remember seeing her again before I left the Underworld"

His tone threatening as he spoke.

"You're going to regret this Ms Swan"

I couldn't help but smirk, knowing he was in no position to threaten anyone. I raised my voice slightly, before speaking.

"You're in no position to threaten me Gold"

He laughed, before speaking.

"Oh it wasn't a threat over the use of the spell dearie, I was simply implying you'll regret asking about Milah"

My eyes widened, before I swallowed softly; I took a breath, before speaking.

"Why? What did you do to her?"

He grinned, his eyes landed on Killian again; before his gaze refocused on mine, he then spoke.

"After you left, I tracked her down again; I found her by the river of lost souls and we talked about my marriage. She couldn't believe it was real, and that I had remarried; that's when I brought up the topic of unfinished business, and if it was because of her love for the pirate, then it was definitely off the table. She wasn't pleased about that, and that's when she told me that he wasn't her unfinished business; our son was, because she regretted not being there for him"

My heart broke, as I remembered that I had told her about Neal; and about seeing him, and that he was happy. I remembered that she seemed to be pleased, that he was at peace.

I cleared my throat, before speaking again.

"Then what happened?"

He looked at me, then he spoke.

"She said that she should have been there for him, but she couldn't; because she hated me, and she also said that she was selfish..."

He was about to continue, when Killian interrupted him.

"Milah wasn't selfish, she regretted leaving Bae; you were the selfish one crocodile"

Gold glared at Killian, before he spoke again.

"You'd know all about that wouldn't you pirate?..."

I stepped in front of Killian, placing myself in between them.

"Ok, that's enough; could you two maybe refrain from killing each other? Just tell us what happened"

Gold smirked at us, before continuing.

"Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you..." He paused again, before speaking again. "After she told me that Bae was her unfinished business, she admitted to being selfish; and when she arrived in the Underworld she thought that if she helped the children, she could move on. I couldn't believe that she thought it would help her move on, her reason for wanting to move on was so she could be with Bae; so she could apologise to him for everything she did. I assured Milah, that he would forgive her; because he forgave me, she eventually went on to say that she wanted to see him again. So I told her, when she did see him again; to say hello from his papa, after that she crouched down to peer into the river. I moved closer to her, and that's when I heard her comment on the lost souls; unfortunately our little reunion was interrupted by Hades, who in turn froze Milah and then offered me a deal..."

I gasped softly, before finding my voice again.

"What kind of deal? What did he want?"

Gold looked at me again, before speaking.

"All I'll say is, that he threatened Belle and the life of our unborn child; and I wasn't about to lose my wife and child again, I was desperate. I wanted to save them, so I did what he asked"

That's when I heard Killian speak.

"What did he want you to do crocodile?"

That's when I noticed Gold had an unsettling look on his face, he paused; then looked at us, before opening his mouth to speak again.

"He wanted me to make a sacrifice, of course I knew what he wanted; he wanted me to kill Milah"

That's when Killian, stepped forward; and pinned Gold to the counter, his hook poised above Gold's chest. I gasped slightly louder this time, knowing that Gold deserved everything that was coming to him; but Killian, had come to far and wasn't that man anymore.

I knew I had to stop him, so I raised my voice slightly; before speaking.

"Killian, babe please don't do this; I know you're hurting, but this isn't the way. I know you want answers, but you'll never get them if you kill him"

That's when Killian turned to look at me, and I noticed the rage in his eyes; this was a bad idea, I knew I should have come alone. I could hear rage in his voice as he spoke.

"He killed her, Emma; he took the cowards way out..."

My heart broke, as I noticed the rage in eyes turned to sadness; and that's when I spoke.

"Yeah I know he did, I know he did something unforgivable; you also never forget your first love, and Milah will always have a place in your heart. Just like Neal will always have a place in mine"

I walked over and placed my hand on his hook, Killian stood back; Gold stood up again and he glanced at me, before looking at Killian. His voice above a whisper, as he spoke again.

"I had no choice, he had just threatened my wife and unborn child; do you think if I had a choice in the matter, that I wouldn't have killed her? I hesitated, as she had the exact same look on her face, as she did the day I ripped her heart out and crushed it. When she realised, she called out your name Ms Swan; and that's when I blasted her back, sending her into the river"

Tears formed in my eyes, Milah was afraid; and she called out to me? She wanted me to save her, and I didn't. Because I was too caught up in wanting to rescue Killian.

I stared at him, and I heard his voice break slightly; before he spoke again.

"I knew the second she hit the water, that she was gone; so yes I killed her, and I regretted it the instant it happened. But I'd like to think, that she did find Bae and that they managed to make peace with each other"

That's when Killian stepped back, I could tell he still wanted to hurt Gold; but instead of doing anything, he stepped back and we watched as the spell wore off.

That's when I noticed the smug look on Gold's face; looks like he has returned to his scheming, deal making self. He sneered at us, before speaking again.

"You got what you came for, so please leave"

I nodded, before speaking.

"Thank you"

He nodded slightly, before going back to what he was doing before we entered. Killian and I then left the store, and as we made our way home; I noticed that Killian was quiet. I just hoped that it provided Killian, with some closure.

I glanced up at him, before I spoke.

"Killian..."

He turned slightly to look at me, he smiled softly; before speaking.

"Emma, I..."

I stopped in my tracks, and stood in front of him. I glanced up at him, and smiled softly. I then spoke.

"It's ok Killian, I get it; I guess I'd feel the same way, if someone I had once loved had been killed twice by the same person"

He looked at me, he then smiled softly; before speaking.

"Thank you love, that wasn't easy; but we got the truth in the end, even it meant us using magic to get it. I just about got to say goodbye to Milah the first time she was killed, I just wish that I got to say goodbye before she was killed again"

I nodded in agreement, before smiling at him; that's when a small gasp left my lips, as he then leaned down to kiss me. I broke the kiss, and spoke softly.

"I'm just sorry that you couldn't say goodbye; but I think there was a way for you to do so..."

He peered down at me, and that's when I noticed the perplexed look on his face; he then spoke.

"Love, how would you propose I do that?"

I smiled again, before speaking.

"Well when you decided to stay in the Underworld, I was upset; so I decided to say goodbye and that's when I talked to your headstone. So why don't you go to the Jolly and say goodbye to Milah?"

He looked at me again, before smiling; he then spoke again.

"Are you sure love?"

I nodded, before speaking.

"Killian, you need this; because you deserve closure, and this is the perfect way to do so, and take as much time as you need. I'll see you back home, I love you"

He nodded, before he leant down to whisper in my ear.

"I love you too Emma, and thank you; I'll see you at home"

I watched him as he turned, making his way to the harbour; I watched as he disappeared from view, and I noticed that he seemed a bit lighter than he had moments ago.

He needed this...
