Chapter 6 To Keep You Safe
Jay's POV
I couldn't say anything. I could only stare at my birth mother in shock.
She look at me, and smiled.
"Jay", she said.
Then…she tried to come up to me, but I stepped back.
Master Wu noticed the awkward silence and decided to break it.
"Lisbeth", he started. "You're here."
"Hi Wu", Lisbeth greeted. "Long time no see."
"I didn't know if you were alive or not", Master Wu revealed. "What happened?"
"It's a long story", Lisbeth replied. "And…it' actually related to the storm that's surrounding Ninjago City."
…
We were now inside the monastery, where Lisbeth was explaining what had happened to her.
"Wu", she started. "Remember when I told you that the reason why I was giving up Jay for adoption was because I thought he'd be better off with two parents instead of a single mother?"
"Yes", Wu replied.
"Well", Lisbeth started. "That wasn't the truth."
"Wait", I exclaimed, finally able to speak. "It wasn't? Then…why'd you leave me at the junkyard?"
"Not long after I left your father", Lisbeth started. "I met a scientist named Professor Dvalin Storm. We met at this fancy party. We wooed me, and me being a woman who's marriage had just ended and was emotionally vulnerable, I did not see the obvious red flags."
"So what happened", Lloyd asked.
"One night he invited me over to his place for dinner", Lisbeth started. "And when he did, he revealed his whole evil plan."
"What evil plan", Nya asked.
"Just the usual 'wants to take over the world' plan", Lisbeth replied. "Only he was going to do it with a machine that could create a storm. Obviously, I was going to take him to jail, but then…"
Flashback
Lisbeth's POV
"Your super villain act ends here", Dvalin", I stated.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that, Lisbeth", Dvalin stated. "After all…you wouldn't want anything to happen to your son, would you?"
"What do you mean", I asked.
"There's a reason why I charmed you specifically, Lisbeth", Dvalin started. "I need the electricity you can produce to power my machine."
"And what makes you think I'd just give it to you", I asked.
"Because I've heard that elemental masters pass down their powers to their children", Dvalin revealed. "If you won't be my battery, then I'll just have to use your son instead when he gets older."
End of Flashback
Jay's POV
This revelation took me by surprise.
"I couldn't risk Jay getting hurt", Lisbeth revealed. "So…I agreed to Dvalin's terms. But I knew that I had to get Jay somewhere safe. Somewhere where Dvalin couldn't reach him."
"Then", Nya started. "How did Jay end up with Ed and Edna in the junkyard?"
"I had met them before to get some parts for my vehicle", Lisbeth revealed. "I had heard them talking about how they wanted a child, but were unable to have their own. So…I left you on their doorstep."
"So…", I started. "You…you didn't just abandon me? You left me…to protect me?"
After I asked this…Lisbeth put her hand on my cheek.
"Leaving you was the most painful thing I'd ever have to do", she stated. "But I had to make sure you were safe."
I couldn't say anything to this. I was still trying to process everything.
"Forgive me for interrupting", Master Wu apologised. "But there's something I would like to know. Lisbeth, your elemental powers would've completely faded away when Jay unlocked his full potential. Why is Professor Storm only unleashing his machine now?"
"Once he absorbed all of the electricity from me", Lisbeth started. "It still took him a while before he could create a machine that could turn that electricity into a storm. Once he did, he left for Ninjago City, leaving me alone, so I made my way here."
"Okay", Lloyd started. "So we now know who we're dealing with, but we've still gotta figure out how to beat him."
