Chapter 7 Stormterror
Kai's POV
Even though Zane and I had physically been cut off from the rest of the ninja, our communication hadn't been cut off.
"So let me get this straight", I started. "This mad scientist guy absorbed all of the lightning power from Jay's mom, and is now using that to create the storm that's surrounding Ninjago City."
"Yep", Cole replied.
"At least we now know what is causing this phenomenon", Zane said. "Now we must come up with a plan to stop it."
"Any ideas", I asked.
"For starters", Lloyd started. "You two should find the machine that's creating the storm."
"Okay", I started. "And how do we do that?"
"Let's see", Jay's mom started. "If I remember correctly from when I would listen in on Dvalin yapping about his science stuff, I think I heard him mention that the machine would work best if it was in the centre of the city, and high up."
"In the centre of the city and high up", I repeated.
"I will pull up a map of Ninjago City and see which location best meets this criteria", Zane revealed.
"Perfect", Lloyd said. "Once you find it, go to the location and see if you can find the machine."
"Aye aye, green ninja", I said.
"And guys", Lloyd started. "Please be careful out there."
"Yeah", Nya agreed. "Don't do anything stupid, Kai."
"Since when do I do anything stupid", I asked. "You worry too much, sis. I'll be fine."
"Please be careful, Circuits", Pixal pleaded.
"Don't worry, Pixal", Zane reassured. "I will be."
…
Zane managed to quickly find a building that matched the criteria we were looking for, which was a tall, old abandoned building right in the middle of the city.
"I am picking up large levels of elemental energy coming from the top of that building", Zane revealed. "I think that this is the place."
"Yeah", I agreed. "And…I can see a bright light shooting out from it."
"That as well", Zane said. "Let's go inside, but proceed with caution."
With that…Zane and I pulled up our hoods and went inside the building.
When we did, we saw what looked like a makeshift lab.
"This definitely looks like a mad scientist's lab", I stated.
"Indeed", Zane agreed. "However, said mad scientist doesn't appear to be here at the moment."
"Let's take advantage of that", I said. "Quickly. Let's get to the top of the building."
…
Zane and I had made it to the top of the building, and when we did…we saw lightning spewing out of a machine.
"Hmm", I started. "I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that this is the machine we're looking for."
"I believe you are correct", Zane said.
"So", I started. "Do we try to destroy it?"
"It would be risky to do so when we do not know much about the machine", Zane stated. "I will scan it to see if we will be able to find out more about its inner workings."
With that, Zane got to work, and then…somebody barged onto the roof!
He was definitely a mad scientist. Had the lab cloak and everything.
"Ah, the ninja", he started. "I figured that you would show up."
"Are you Professor Dvalin Storm", Zane asked, and the mad scientist scoffed.
"That is a name of the past", he stated. "From this day forth, I shall be known as…Stormterror!"
"Oh my", I started. "How original."
"Kai", Zane started. "I am done."
"Great", I said. "Well…Stormterror, it was not nice to meet you, but Zane and I have other things to attend to. Goodbye."
With that…Zane and I jumped off the building.
We free falled until we neared the ground, then Zane made an ice slide to get us down safely.
"That was awesome", I exclaimed.
"I was able to successfully scan the machine", Zane revealed. "I shall send this information to our teammates."
