"Okay," Alexis replied. She laid aside Monkey Bunky and hopped out of bed.

Rick took her to school and after she went inside, he made it snow, ending up in his office. He had a lot of work ahead of him. An apartment building needed reviewing to determine what, if anything, needed to be repaired.
Later, Kate was in the cafeteria waiting for Rick to show up, if at all. Then she spotted him walking right for her, carrying a tray of food. She smiled wide and waited for him to join her.
Rick put his tray down and smiled at her. Kate raised up on tiptoe and kissed him in front of everyone. "Hi."
"Hi, yourself." Rick gave her a quick kiss and sat down. He noticed the other woman. "You're Bridgett."
"Yes, how did you know?" Bridgett didn't think they had seen each other.
"I know everyone here," Rick told her. "I don't understand how, but I do. You're a true believer."
"Yes, I am." Bridgett smiled at him. "You're dating Kate."
"That I am. And I told Kate that I love her." Rick's eyes crinkled when he smiled.
"Kate told me she loves you. This is so great!" Bridgett gushed.
"So, have you seen Lucy yet?" Rick asked Kate.
She shook her head. "No, not yet. I've been busy at work." Kate looked at him, thinking. "I still love you."
Rick reached across to take her hand. "I love you too."
"That's so sweet," Bridgett sighed.
Rick and Kate both grinned and ate their lunch. "Now what?" Kate asked.
"We can talk later tonight," Rick said quietly. "I have a question. Are you happy where you work? You too, Bridgett. I can arrange for you to work somewhere else. I can talk to Lucy."
"No, I'm fine. Honestly, I'm fine." Kate actually liked what she was doing.
Bridgett spoke up, "Me, too."
Rick nodded at both women. "Okay, I was just asking."

"Have a nice day." Rick kissed her in front of everyone. Then he made it snow, and was gone.
Kate sighed. "I really wish I could do that."
"Come on, Kate, we'll have to do it the hard way." Bridgett looped her arm through Kate's and walked with her back to their station.

Kate knocked on the front door and wasn't surprised that Alexis answered it. "KATE!" Alexis hugged Kate as tight as she could, and Kate hugged her right back. Then she noticed Rick standing there.
"You don't have to knock, you know. You can just come in," Rick said and smiled at her.
"I feel like knocking, but I'll think about it," Kate replied.
"Come, sit down. We need to talk," Rick told her, and he sat down and waited for Kate and Alexis to join him. His smile was gone.
Kate didn't like the sound of that, but she sat down with Alexis between them.
"Don't freak out, but I was thinking things through," Rick began.
Now Kate was sure something terrible was coming. "You're breaking up with me, aren't you?"
"What? No!" Rick exclaimed. "I'm asking you to marry me, Kate! To become Mrs. Claus."
"Marry…" Kate cleared her throat. "Marry you?"
"YES!" Alexis was all for it.
"I love you, and I know you love me, and you love Alexis. I don't want to wait. I don't think we have to." Rick looked sort of sad when he said, "There is one thing. I've tried to exit the Globe that surrounds us. I tried to make it snow, and hoped I'd end up in the loft where I used to live. Except it didn't work. It snowed all right, but I ended up staying put. So travel to Paris is out. I'm so sorry, Kate."
Kate heard all that but was stuck on the word MARRIAGE.
"Kate? Sweetheart?"
"Marry you. …I'll be Alexis' mother. I'm only nineteen, Rick." Kate swallowed hard. "I'm too young to be a mother. Not that I don't want to be a mother, but it's too soon."
"Please?" Alexis heard and understood all that. "I'll be good, I promise. Please, Kate?"
"Oh, Alexis." Kate looked at her and could feel the tug on her heartstrings. She loved Alexis, and she knew it. Kate gave in and hoped for the best. "Yes, little love. I'll be your mother."
"YES!" Alexis was happy and hugged Kate. Kate embraced her and felt her heart going to the child. She was a mother, a nineteen-year-old mother.
Kate looked at Rick. "And yes, I'll marry you. Just not tomorrow. Maybe in six to nine months from now when I'm 20 years old, at least."
Rick nodded excitedly. "YES! I can do that. I can wait." He leaned over top of Alexis and kissed Kate. Alexis sat there and beamed.
"We need to celebrate! What's your favorite meal? I'll make it for you," Rick told her.
Kate thought about that. She made a face, asking for forgiveness. "Chinese."
"Chinese, I can do Chinese. I think. Um, I might need to go shopping first. I'll be back. Don't move." Rick got up and headed for the door. But he thought better of it. He came back to Kate and kissed her, then he made it snow, and he was gone.
Alexis was smiling wide. "What are you grinning at, young lady?" Kate asked. Alexis didn't say a word. She just sat there and kept smiling. She had a mommy, and Kate was going to marry her daddy. All was right with her world.
Kate hugged her, kissed her head, and waited for Rick to come home.

Rick was gone for a while. Far longer than it took to buy what was needed to make Chinese. And Kate was beginning to worry. Alexis was still in the clouds. She was happy. She had what she wanted.
Finally, it snowed, and there stood Rick, holding several bags. She immediately smelled Chinese food. "I had the cafeteria make it instead," he admitted. "I also got you something." Rick put down the food and dropped to one knee.
"You already said yes, but you need a ring." Rick opened his hand, and she saw a ring resting on his palm. "It's an heirloom. The very first Mrs. Claus wore this ring. If it's good enough for her, it's good enough for you." Rick took her hand and slid the ring onto her finger.
Kate looked at it; it looked old. "It's beautiful." She really did like it. "You're sure she won't mind?" Kate asked hesitantly.
"I'm sure. I've read a note that came with it. It's magical. It makes you Mrs. Claus. I'm not sure just what that means, though," Rick told her.
"Magical, huh?" Kate kept looking at it. "Can I do what you do? Make it snow, I mean, and end up somewhere else?"
"I don't know. Give it a try." Rick waited impatiently to see what, if anything, would happen.
Kate moved her arm from around Alexis and sat there, wishing she was somewhere else. Her dorm room, maybe. Except nothing happened. She tried again, and this time she wanted to go to the cafeteria. But, still nothing.
Kate shrugged. "I guess not."
"Maybe you need to be married first," Rick suggested.

Naked, Kate was resting on top of Rick, listening to his heartbeat, yet again.

"I was thinking of getting married and what that means. Getting married means an instant family, that I'll be a mother. A nineteen-year-old mother, but still a mother. And you know what?" Kate lifted her head to look at him and his one open eye. "I'm not afraid because I love you, and I love Alexis." Hearing her say that, Rick opened both eyes.
"You'll make a great mother, and I'm so very glad I met you. I don't know what I would do without you." Rick lifted his head to kiss her. "You interested in another round?"
Kate bit her lower lip. "Yes." She was more than ready.

Kate made it to her dormitory and noticed her roommate was missing. She headed for the showers, washed her hair, showered, and then returned to her room. But still, she didn't see her roommate.
She hurried into work. She had the next two days off and was looking forward to spending it with her new family. Her smile got wider, thinking that Rick and Alexis were her family.
"You're glowing again. If I didn't know better, I would think you're in love," Bridgett told her.
Kate looked around, then whispered, "He asked me to marry him."
Bridgett's jaw dropped. "Really? And you said?"
Kate showed her the ring on her finger. "I said yes."
Bridgett grabbed her hand and looked at the ring. "It's gorgeous. I'm so proud of you, Kate. You're going to marry Santa and become Mrs. Claus."
That had Kate thinking. She thought she would be Mrs. Castle. After all, that was his name, Richard Castle. But here, Rick was Santa, and that meant Mr. Claus. She was going to be Mrs. Claus.
Her face lit up at that thought. Mrs. Claus sounded nice.

Kate went to the cafeteria and looked for him. She saw him, and he was sitting mostly alone. She didn't bother with getting in line for food; she went right to him. Kate said hello and stood there, waiting.
"Kate!" Rick got up and slipped his arms around the lady adored. And then he kissed her and kissed her. She loved it!

"I may have told Lucy, who told all the Elves. And before I forget, you have the rest of the day off, Lucy's orders. She said she wants to talk to you, by the way."
Rick noticed Lucy headed right for them. "Speak of the devil."
Kate let go of Rick and turned to face her. "Kate, we need to talk. Be at my office after you finish lunch," Lucy told her.
"Yes, Ma'am." Kate watched her walk away. "I'm in trouble, aren't I?"
Rick shook his head. "Nonsense. She's all for us getting married. You have nothing to worry about."
"That's easy for you to say." Kate was positive she was in trouble.

Kate found her in her office. "Ma'am, you wanted to see me?"
"Please have a seat, Kate." Lucy waited for her to get settled. "I asked you to be here for one reason."
"Yes, Ma'am?" Kate responded.
"I gave Santa that ring that you're wearing. He came to me about his desire to marry you. I gave him my blessing and gave him that ring. It's an heirloom, one worn by the very first Mrs. Claus. It's magical. You will notice some changes when you become Mrs. Claus," Lucy advised her.
Kate blinked. "Magical, Ma'am? I thought that was just something Rick said."
"Oh no, and it's Santa. I suggest you start calling him that. He doesn't feel like Santa right now, but that will change once Christmas Eve arrives. He will undergo changes. You, as Mrs. Claus, will also undergo changes," Lucy told her.
"I think I'll let you find out what that is. That's all, Kate. Welcome to the family," Lucy said with a warm smile. "Go back to Santa and help him with his work. You're done with yours for today. You have tomorrow and the next day off. I suggest you plan your wedding. And a word of warning, it will involve all of the Elves."
"Yes, Ma'am, and thank you, Ma'am." Kate got up and left a smiling Lucy in her wake.

"Hi, Rick, I mean Santa," Kate said nervously. "Lucy told me to come and help you."
"Santa, huh?" Rick liked being called Rick.
"She said I should get used to calling you Santa since that's what you are, and that I should get used to being called Mrs. Claus."
"But I like being called Rick," he pouted.
"You'll get over it, Santa." Kate stepped in and kissed him. "Now, how can I help you?"
"I was working on the Naughty and Nice list, something that you can't help me with, so I guess you can help me with the Maintenance Log," Rick said. "Pick a building, look it over, and assign a repair team to anything that needs repair."
"I can do that." Kate moved to a filing cabinet and opened it, choosing a building to study. She sat down across from him and shared his desk.
"I never knew being Santa was so much work," Kate commented while looking the building over.
"Tell me about it. I never believed that Santa had so much work to do," Rick agreed. "I wonder what Lucy does?" He had work to do, and so should she.
"I don't think I want to know. She's in charge of all the Elves. That can't be an easy job. Don't forget that you need to spend time with the Reindeer too," Kate reminded him.
"That sounds like more fun than this. Let's go. You can help me do that instead." Rick got up, leaving the Naughty and Nice list behind.
