Chapter 9 Libber
Jay's POV
That Night
After we said our goodbyes to our friends, we set off on the Destiny's Bounty to find the material we needed to make our suits and vehicles.
While Nya steered the ship, I was looking up at the night sky.
Then…Lisbeth walked up to me.
"Hey there, buddy", she greeted. "Can we talk?"
"Sure", I replied. "What do you want talk about?"
"I just wanna know if you're doing okay", Lisbeth replied. "After all, you got a huge bombshell dropped on you today."
"It's definitely a lot to take in", I revealed. "But I'm slowly getting used to it. Besides…I'm also glad."
"Glad", Lisbeth repeated. "About what?"
"When I found I was adopted", I started. "I wanted to know why my parents left me. I wanted to know if they actually cared about me or not."
After I said this…Lisbeth put her hand on my cheek.
"Jay", she started. "Leaving you was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but what was most important was to keep you safe."
After Lisbeth said this, she pulled her hand away from my cheek.
"We can never get the time we lost back", she pointed out. "But I'm here now, and I'd like to get to know you as much as I can."
After Lisbeth said this, I thought about it for a moment.
Then…I smiled.
"I would like that very much, ah….", I started.
"What's wrong", Lisbeth asked.
"It's just…I'm not sure what I should call you", I revealed. "Should I call you mom, or is just Lisbeth fine?"
With that, Lisbeth started thinking.
"Why don't you call me…Libber?"
"Libber", I asked in confusion.
"That was a nickname your dad used to call me", Lisbeth revealed.
"Libber", I repeated. "Sure! That's what I'll call you from now on!"
With that…Libber smiled at me, and I smiled back.
"Oh", Libber started before turning around to look at Nya. "Before I forget! I wanted to say congratulations to you two!"
"Congratulations", Nya asked in confusion.
"I noticed that you two are wearing matching yin, yang pendants", Libber revealed.
"Oh", I started as I picked up my half of the medallion. "Yeah."
"Congratulations you two", Libber said before wrapping her arms around Nya and I.
"Um…", Nya started. "Libber, this is super sweet and all, but I need to steer the ship!"
"Oh", Libber started before letting go. "Right. sorry!"
With that, Nya went back to steering the ship.
Then, she seemed to notice something.
"Hey Jay", she started. "I just realised that the place we're going to isn't far from the junkyard."
"The junkyard", Libber asked. "Wait. Ed & Edna's Scrap N Junk?"
"The one and only", I replied.
"In that case", Libber started. "I know we have the mission and all, but could we quickly drop by there?"
"You want to go there", I asked.
"Yes", Libber replied. "I want to thank your parents for taking care of you."
