Chapter 2: Confrontations
Sakura could only stare as her blonde teammate continued to lock lips with the Hyuga heiress and that feeling in her gut got slightly worse as it began to grow into something else.
"What does that baka think he's doing?!"
Naruto and Hinata broke their kiss but remained close as they gazed into each other's eyes, Hinata bringing her hand up to trace the whisker like marks on Naruto's face which brought out a very low growl from the blonde's throat. The moment was ruined however when Naruto caught sight of Jiraiya quickly writing in his notebook with a lecherous grin on his face.
"If I find you have put this in one of your books sensei, I will make you regret it."
Jiraiya frowned as he stopped writing, "Come on gaki there is no need to threaten me over this."
"My life is not some sitcom for you to profit off of."
"My writing is a work of art."
"Fuck your work of art!" Naruto snarled as he let go of Hinata and glared at the toad sanin, "Write about someone else Jiraiya!"
Sakura had enough of this new Naruto and stomped towards the pair with her first cocked back intending to pummel the blonde into the ground for his rudeness and for ignoring her!
"Naruto-baka!"
Right as her fist was about to connect with Naruto's face it was suddenly stopped mid swing by the very blonde it was intended for.
Naruto glared at his pink haired teammate, "What do you think you are doing?"
"What do you think baka?! Putting you in your place!"
Tsunade sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose at her apprentice's volatile temper, "Sakura you need to…"
Before she could finish her sentence Sakura let out a scream as a loud snap was heard, Tsunade looked up to see Sakura kneeling on the ground cradling her now broken hand as Naruto glared at her.
"Don't ever try that again Sakura or you will get worse."
"Naruto!" Shizune yelled, "There was no need for that!"
"Oh really, where were you when she was about to pummel me in the face?"
"You stopped her there was no need to…"
"Don't change the damn subject! Why didn't you say anything when she tried to assault me?!"
Shizune was silent.
"Just what I thought, its alright if she punches me but when I return the favor its all of a sudden wrong, well fuck you Shizune you damn hypocrite!"
Before things could escalate further Jiraiya stepped between them.
"Hime I'm sure we have lots to talk about so why don't we go to your office?"
Tsunade nodded, "Fine but you better have answers for me Jiraiya."
To the surprise of those present Hinata did not follow them to the Hokage Tower and instead kissed Naruto on the cheek and whispered that she would be waiting for him later and walked towards the clan district.
Hokage Tower
Once inside her office Tsunade took her place at her desk, Shizune and Sakura stood on either side of her while Naruto and Jiraiya took seats in the chairs in front of the desk.
"Alright Jiraiya." Tsunade said as she steepled her fingers, "Spill the beans."
"Well hime it went something like this."
Jiraiya went on to explain what they did for the first three years of the trip but when it came to the second half, he became silent which caused Tsunade to frown.
"Why'd you stop?"
"It's best if the gaki explains the rest."
She looked at the blonde who up to this point had been silent, "I'm waiting."
Naruto stretched his neck, "Well the first thing that happened was that I learned who my parents were."
Tsunade's eyes shot to the toad sage, "You told him?!"
"No hime."
"Then you did?"
"The one witness to that night that saw it all and is still with me to this day." Naruto snorted as Tsunade's eyes widened, "What you think I never talked to him?"
"You can't trust the fox Naruto it is a being of pure evil."
"Shows how much you know."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means you old hag that you know next to nothing about what the Biju are or where they came from."
Jiraiya sensing the room getting hot tried to steer the conversation in a different direction, "Regardless of how he found out he now knows who his parents are and about his clan."
"I'll be taking my inheritance and clan rights now."
"What?" Tsunade said as her stomach almost did a flip.
Naruto leaned forward and looked her in the eyes, "I said I will be taking my inheritance from my parents and will be taking up my station as clan head of the Uzumaki."
"What makes you think you can?"
"Because of this."
Naruto produced a scroll from his pouch and handed it to Tsunade who upon taking it was shocked to see the seal of the Fire Daimyo on it.
"Yea that's right, the Fire Daimyo himself has already signed off on this." Naruto said as he sat back, "This is just a formality really as you have no choice but to comply."
"Watch your mouth gaki, you are still a shinobi under my command!"
"About that to." He produced another scroll and held it up, "I'm invoking my right to resign from the shinobi forces as set down by the Nidaime Hokage, based on that I have not promoted in five years."
The room was dead silent as even Jiraiya was not aware of this move, the others were also completely blindsided.
"Gaki what are you doing?!"
"What do you think sensei?"
"What about your dream?"
"Dreams change."
Tsunade couldn't believe what she was hearing, this couldn't be the same boy who had convinced her to return to Konoha and shouted to anyone who would listen that he was going to be Hokage one day. Ignoring the two arguing men she read the scroll for the Fire Daimyo.
"Tsunade-hime I write to inform you of great news, the heir of Uzushio and the Uzumaki has been found! Would you believe it is also Minato-kun's and Kushina-chan's son?! I trust he will have no problems claiming what is rightfully his."
The scroll was brief and to the point, Tsunade could read between the lines and recognized a threat when she saw one, she would have to comply with Naruto's claim or there would be consequences for Konoha that she could not afford.
"Silence!"
Naruto and Jiraiya stopped arguing and looked at the Hokage as she set the scroll down.
"Naruto your inheritance will be delivered to you by the end of the day as will your status as the Uzumaki clan head but you cannot leave the shinobi forces."
Naruto snorted as he pointed to the picture of the Nidaime Hokage on the wall, "The law of the Nidaime says otherwise."
"You are the Jinchuriki of the Kyubi and must be a shinobi."
"No I don't and as a clan head you can't force me to even with my jinchuriki status."
Sakura decided to speak up at this point, "Naruto-baka stop arguing with Tsunade-sama!"
"Shut the hell up Sakura, you are lucky to even be in the room!" Naruto snapped back, "As a matter of fact why is she even here?"
Tsunade snorted, "I can have whoever I want in my office gaki."
"Regardless Tsunade." Jiraiya interjected, "You have to accept his resignation or it would be grounds to bring you before the Daimyo for violating his rights as a citizen of Hi no Kuni."
Naruto smirked as Tsunade ground her teeth, "Of course I would be willing to stay on as a shinobi of Konoha if you were to promote me to jonin effective immediately."
"Are you kidding me gaki?!"
"Did it sound like I was kidding hag?"
Tsunade was not liking how this meeting was going; first he doesn't answer her questions about his training trip, then he claims his family's legacy, and to top it off is blackmailing her into promoting him!
"Fine! Naruto Uzumaki is hereby promoted to jonin effective immediately!"
"Thank you, Hokage-sama." Naruto smirked as the scroll in his hand went up in flames, "As we have three witnesses here there will be no going back on your word, I'll be checking the ninja registry before the day is out."
"Naruto isn't it about time you reveal who we brought with us?"
"Yes, I believe it is."
Naruto placed his hand on the floor and a line of seals shot from it and formed a matrix in the middle of the room, a puff of smoke later and a bound Sasuke Uchiha appeared somewhat disoriented in the middle of the matrix before it disappeared.
"One Sasuke Uchiha returned as ordered." Naruto looked at Sakura, "My promise is fulfilled."
Tsunade watched as the Uchiha gathered his bearings and when he caught sight of Naruto he began yelling and struggling to free himself.
"Naruto! I'll kill you for what you did to me!" Sasuke tried to use his Sharingan but nothing happened, "What did you do to me?!"
Naruto for the first time smiled and it made all present shiver at the malice behind it.
"I sealed away your precious eyes teme."
"You…"
"Along with your chakra and your ability to reproduce."
Sasuke stared at his one-time teammate and struggled even more, "Take this seal off me you damn blonde!"
"I can't."
"What do you mean you can't gaki?" Jiraiya asked.
"What I mean is there is no way to remove the seal I used, not even death will free him."
"Where did you even find such a seal?!"
"In the ruins of Uzushio."
"So that's where you went!"
Before he could respond Sasuke interrupted again with his death threats which caused Naruto to viciously kick the Uchiha in the jaw causing his head to snap back and his teeth to click painfully.
"Shut up Uchiha, no one wants to listen to your idle threats."
"Naruto-baka don't you dare hit Sasuke-kun!"
"Shut up Haruno no one cares what you think or have to say."
"Enough!" Tsunade barked and tapped her finger on her desk making an Anbu appear, "Take the Uchiha to the T&I department and have Ibiki question him."
The Anbu nodded and disappeared with Sasuke in a swirl of leaves, Tsunade turned her attention back to Naruto but before she could speak her office door opened and the village elders walked in.
"Oh great these relics have shown up." Naruto groaned, "Well what do you people want?"
"Watch you tone genin." Koharu said as she, Homura, and Danzo entered.
"Up yours you dried up whore."
"How dare you…"
"I don't believe I gave you three permission to enter my office during this meeting."
"Tsunade, we have every right to be involved when it pertains to matters that affect the village as a whole."
Naruto snorted, "Wow you three really need to retire, your health might not last much longer if you don't"
Silence was met by the not-so-subtle threat Naruto had just made to the elders; Danzo eyed him though no visible reaction was seen on his face.
"You would do well to remember your place in this village genin."
"Oh do I?" Naruto got up and stood in front of the elders who he was now taller than, "I am the jinchuriki of the Kyubi, this village's most important military asset, much more important than the lives of three fossils from an era long past. I am the clan head of the Uzumaki clan and heir to the Yondaime Hokage and Uzushio, I know my place in this village old man."
Danzo's visible eye widen slightly as he looked at the Hokage, "Is this true Tsunade?"
"It is Danzo and he is a jonin not a genin."
"Why were we not notified when the jinchuriki was promoted?" Koharu yelled, "We need to be…"
"Use my name or I will deactivate all Uzumaki based seals in Konoha."
Homura balked, "Tsunade do something he just threatened the security of Konoha!"
Naruto snorted, "There is nothing any of you can do, Konoha has not paid the annual stipend to my clan's treasury since the death of my mother, so this village owes me a lot of money or everything my clan helped build here will fail."
Tsunade made to speak but before she could Danzo spoke first.
"You would help destroy your father's home? The village he gave his life for."
"My father sacrificed me for this village." Naruto said as he looked at everyone in the office, "I will not make the same mistake, if you want my clan's jutsu to continue to help Konoha prosper you will pay the agreed stipend in full by the end of the day."
"What happened to you Naruto?" Tsunade asked, "You were never like this in the past."
"I grew up Tsunade and realized where my priorities lay."
The elders argued for a few more minutes but when all was said and done, they agreed to Naruto's demands and left but not before telling him that he would regret his actions, which he replied with the same. Once they were gone, he turned to Tsunade and looked at her expectantly causing the other blonde to sigh as she got up and opened the safe behind Minato's picture. She took out two scrolls and handed them to Naruto who promptly put them in his pouch and turned to leave.
"Your not going to open them gaki?" Jiraiya asked.
"I will around people I trust."
As the door closed behind him Tsunade glared at Jiraiya, "What happened Jiraiya? Why did he turn out like this?"
"He found out the truth hime, the fox told him everything that was kept from him and it made him mad."
As Naruto made his way through the village, he could hear the whispers of the villagers who were glaring at him and muttering about how he should not have been allowed to live. He stopped and closed his eyes before reopening them but now they were a sinister crimson and slitted.
"Don't worry humans soon enough you will be held accountable for your actions against me."
Those present could feel the malice radiate from the blonde as memories of that terrifying night came rushing back but just as quickly as it appeared it disappeared and Naruto continued on his way to his next destination.
Hyuga Clan Estate
Hinata made her way to back to her family's compound and the two guards bowed as she passed them.
"Hinata-sama."
She nodded her head and made her way to her room where she bathed and changed into a more formal lavender kimono to match her eyes. Sitting in front of her mirror and brushed her long bluish black hair she smiled thinking of her blonde love.
"Finally we can be together."
A knock interrupted her thoughts.
"Hinata-sama may I come in?"
"Of course Neji."
The door opened and her cousin entered and stood beside her as she went back to brushing her hair.
"Hinata-sama I…"
"Please Neji just call me by my name."
"Very well, I have doubts about this course of action."
She looked into his eyes in the mirror and smiled, "You don't think he can't follow through with his promise?"
"Yes."
"Neji." Hinata put the brush down and stood up taking Neji's hands in her own, "Do you still believe in fate even after what Naruto has shown you?"
Neji looked down, "It has been a part of our clan for so long Hinata, I just can't believe that he can make it go away just like that."
Hinata hugged her cousin, "Please believe Neji, please have faith that all will be made right."
He returned the hug and nodded his head.
"For you cousin I will believe."
"Good." Hinata sat back down and took up her brush again, "How is Tenten doing? How is the baby?"
Neji blushed, "Hinata-sama!"
"Oh calm down I know she isn't pregnant, though she should be with how often you spend nights with her."
"We are careful."
"Of course you are."
Satisfied that he hair was sufficiently brushed Hinata stood up and made her way towards the entrance of the compound with Neji following behind her.
"Hello Hinata-san."
Neji and Hinata stopped as one of the elders, Yui, stood in their path, Neji frowned at the casual way she addressed his cousin, Hinata simply looked at the older woman with cold indifference.
"What do you want elder Yui, I have somewhere to be."
"I see you still lack manners Hinata-san."
"And you do not? Addressing Hinata-sama in such a casual fashion elder?"
Yui glared at him, "Remember you place branch boy or I'll…."
The air suddenly became very hot and Yui watched as Hinata's fingertips began to glow a white-hot color and the memory of what the young heiress could do flooded her mind.
"You will do nothing elder or I will put you where you belong, now begone from my sight!"
"Yes Hinata-sama!"
She quickly left and the pair continued on their way to the entrance of the estate, once they arrived, they saw Naruto was already there but the guards were refusing him entrance. Hinata could tell his patience was running very thin with her clansmen and quickly made her presence known.
"What is going on?"
One of the guards bowed his head, "Hinata-sama this thing is trying to enter the estate and were telling it to leave."
Neji flinched when the guard received a Juken strike to his stomach causing him to fall to his knees and cough of up blood.
"Don't ever refer to him in that manner again!" Hinata snarled as she grabbed his hair and forced him to look into her blazing lavender eyes, "Do you understand me?!"
"Y..yes Hinata-sama."
Letting go of the man's hair she walked over to Naruto and looped her arm around his and lead him into the estate, Neji shook his head and followed them not wanting to miss what was about to happen.
For better or worse
Hyuga Council Chambers
Hiashi didn't know who was coming to see him but his daughter had insisted that the person was of the highest importance and that it would reflect badly on the clan if he was refused. The door of the chamber slid open and he watched as Hinata, Neji, and Naruto Uzumaki of all people entered and sat opposite of him. Naruto sat directly in front of him with Hinata on his left and Neji somewhat behind the pair.
"Hiashi I will not waste your time as I have other matters to attend to before the day is done." Naruto began as he produced a scroll from his sleeve, "I believe this will explain my purpose here."
A servant brought the scroll to Hiashi who inspected it and his eyes widened slightly as he noticed both the Hyuga and Uzumaki clan crests on it, he looked at Naruto with a frown on his face.
"Where did you get this scroll?"
"From the Uzumaki vault in the capital."
Hiashi nodded and opened the scroll and began to read it, the further he read the more apprehension he felt which must have been visible on his face as the elders present began to fidget in their seats.
"What does the scroll say Hiashi-sama?"
"It details the deal made by the Hyuga with the Uzumaki for the usage of the Caged Bird Seal."
There was a tense silence for a moment before all at once the elders began talking and shouting, mostly at Naruto, about how the Caged Bird Seal was theirs to do as they saw fit and that no one could take it away from them.
Naruto was internally smirking at the chaos he was causing to the normally reserved clan but his tenant was not in such a good mood.
"Silence them Naruto, their voices are grating on my ears."
"You're no fun Kurama."
"I may like you gaki but other humans are still filth in my eyes."
"Fine be that way."
Naruto reached into his side pouch and pulled out a kunai which he let hang from his pointer finger and held it up for all present to see. The affect was immediate, silence reigned as those present stared at the tri-pronged, seal inscribed kunai with apprehension and some even slight fear.
"Now that I have your attention allow me to tell you how things are going to happen with regards to that abomination you call the Caged Bird Seal." He paused to make sure he had their full attention, "You Hyuga have taken the creation of my clan and twisted it to suite your vile purposes, this is in direct violation to the agreement set up between the Hyuga and Uzumaki when the seal was first given to you. As you have violated the terms of the pact, I will be exercising my right as the head of the Uzumaki clan to take back the Cage Bird Seal and all knowledge pertaining to its use and application starting today."
Hiashi sighed, "The Hyuga will comply with your request Naruto-san, we will deliver the scrolls containing the Caged Bird Seal to you by the end of the day."
"No."
"No?"
Naruto glared at Hiashi, "Do you think I am a fool Hiashi Hyuga? That I would allow you and your clan an entire day to possibly make copies of the scrolls to use behind my back?"
"How dare you?!" An elder shouted but was silenced when a kunai was placed to his throat by another Naruto that appeared from behind him.
"Be silent wretch or I'll slit your throat." He turned back to Hiashi, "I will be taking the scrolls before I leave this compound and I will be removing the seal from those who have it already on them."
"Father." Hinata spoke for the first time, "I believe it would be in everyone's best interest if we conclude these proceedings without further discussion or it might reflect badly on the clan as a whole."
Hiashi nodded in agreement and stood up motioning for Naruto follow him, Hinata and Neji came as well, he lead them to an underground vault which he opened using his Byakugan and hitting the door in several places. Once the door opened Hiashi entered, gathered several scrolls which he brought to Naruto who took them and gave them to Hinata who caused them to go up in flame with a pulse of her chakra.
"Who else had access to this vault Hiashi?"
"Several of the elders but I…"
"We are searching their quarters and persons for copies of the scrolls; I will not leave my family's property in the hands of those who would abuse it."
Several Juken strikes later and all the Caged Bird Seal scrolls were destroyed, Neji had gathered the Branch family members together and had them reveal their seals. Naruto stood in front of them and could see the hate and distrust in their eyes as they looked at him.
"Look at them Naruto, they are just like the rest, why do this for them?"
"I am not doing it for them Kurama."
"Ah yes, that vixen of yours, she is interesting to say the least."
"Coming from you that is a compliment."
"She shows promise but I still despise her."
"Fair enough."
"Do what you came here to do quickly these wretches sicken me."
Naruto made a tiger seal and shouted, "Release!"
All at once every Hyuga who had the Caged Bird Seal on their foreheads felt a slight tingling and then the seal faded leaving their foreheads completely clean. They stood shocked for a moment before many began to cry and hug one another in joy that they were free of that cursed seal. However their joy was short lived as a terrifying presence made itself known, they looked at the man who had freed them and to their horror his once blue eyes were now crimson with slitted pupils.
"Do not think I did this out of some form of justice or mercy, I hate every single one of you and wish death on you for what was done to me as a child." Naruto increased the output of Kurama's chakra which made the weak branch members faint, "I did this solely because the woman I love asked me to and to show a cherished friend what can be accomplished if you defy fate."
With that Naruto turned and made his way towards the entrance of the Hyuga compound but was stopped by Hiashi who asked if would join him for tea in his office. Naruto accepted as he knew the clan head wanted to discuss something away from prying ears. Neji stayed behind to help his clansmen while Hinata followed Naruto and Hiashi to the latter's office. Once inside Hiashi took his spot behind his desk while Naruto sat in front of him somewhat away from the desk itself both of them sitting cross-legged on the cushions, Hinata smirked as she took her spot in Naruto's lap and pulled his arms around her as she leaned back into him.
Hiashi felt his eyebrow twitch but kept his cool despite his daughter's behavior, "Naruto-san I will not beat around the bush, I know you came here for other reasons than to throw my clan into upheaval."
Naruto nodded as he kissed Hinata's cheek, "Perceptive as always, just like my father's journal said."
"You have your father's journals?"
"That and more but onto the main reason I came here." Naruto adjusted himself so he could both look Hiashi in the eyes and keep his arms around his girlfriend, "I intend to court your daughter, I assume that won't be an issue?"
Hiashi knew this was merely a formality that the Uzumaki was observing as the blond could simply do as he pleased.
"I don't see any issue but may I ask why Hinata?"
Hinata looked at her father and smiled, "It's simple father, I alone have loved him without condition."
"That's it?"
"Do we need anything else?"
"I suppose not."
They chatted for a several minutes before the tea was finished, Naruto and Hinata left after promising Hiashi they would inform him when things took a more formal turn. The two left the Hyuga compound and made their way to Naruto's parents house, along the way several of their friends saw them linked at the arms and wondered when they had become so chummy.
