William stared at his daughter, he recognized the name, but never expected it to come out of her mouth.
"Michael Myers...?" He blinked. "Why him? Out of, all people?"
Lorelei went over and took her dinner out of the microwave, then looked back at her father. "Well, I've been already looking more into it since I first heard about it. I got curious." She shrugged. "I know enough to make it into an essay anyway."
Her father sighed deeply, like he was contemplating or wanting to decide against it.
"Well, I don't know what your crazy fascination is with this boy but, do whatever Lorey."
She gave a nod as she headed for the stairs.
"Do keep quiet, your mother is asleep, she has to be up very early in the morning again for her work." Will called out before she reached the top.
"Okay dad." Lorey sighed as she headed for her room. She never considered her stepmother her actual mother, and to be honest, she never liked her. Not after what her real mother had done years ago, she never trusted any mother figure. Though her and her sister, Erin, they were very close.
She pushed her door open to her room, setting her backpack on the bed and her plate on the desk she had at the end of her bed facing a window. This being a Friday, she had the weekend to write and not worry about going to bed at a decent hour. She used her notebook she had with all her notes about Michael and sat at her desk and started writing everything down on a separate paper.
Lorelei both wrote and ate at the same time almost half the day, she set her empty plate on her bed after she starts finishing off what was left to write from her notebook. She then paused, flipping the pencil through her fingers, thinking, she used all her notes, she even had old newspaper clippings she found and cut out, keeping them all in a shoe box under her bed, having already used those too. She had more she needed to write but now was out of ideas, too bad she couldn't... somehow talk to Michael, but he was in the Sanitarium. And no one is allowed to visit unless your related and if the nurse of the patient say so.
But what about writing a letter? There can't be no rules on that, of course her father will never allow it, nor is she ever expecting Michael to respond back. But could be worth a try. So, if she was to pull this off, she'd have to be sneaky, and only one other person she could trust to help her, Erin.
She got up and left, going to her sister's room being next to hers, knocking before going in. Erin was 4 years older than Lorey, had short curly brown hair, a pine green long sleeve and jeans, she was walking around cleaning up her room.
"Hey sis?" Lorey came in, holding her notebook with a clean page on it. Erin turned to her voice and smiled.
"Heey! What's up?" She put her full attention on her. "Was school alright? That one bitch Elsie still messing with you?" She sat on the bed, Lorey sat beside her.
"Of course, it'll never end, I just ignore her." She rolled her eyes. "She's all bark and no bite. But I came to ask for some... help, with my assignment for school, but the help I need will require some assistance and I know dad won't like the idea."
Erin gave her a raised brow. "What idea do you have planned now Lorelei? Cause I know you and the crazy ideas you come up with."
She chuckled at this. "Well, I have to write an essay on someone popular, and I chose Michael Myers, I've used all my notes and have no other ideas to finish it, I thought about... what if I wrote him a letter?" She gave a nervous smile.
Her sister stared at her like she was the insane one, then turned her gaze straight ahead. "I've heard all your crazy ideas Lorelei but this one, is the craziest out of them all." She then looked back at her. "How do you know if he would even write back?"
"I don't know that, but I'm willing to give it a shot, maybe get him to tell me something about himself or anything really." She then moved back more on the bed to cross her legs. "Plus, he's around close to my age, maybe that could encourage him in some way in responding more?"
"Lorelei, we're talking about a child murderer, he stabbed his own sister in cold blood, it's why he's in the nut house to start with, he's mentally not right up there." She pointed to her own head. "I don't think he'd care about some random girl's school assignment."
"Erin, come on, you don't know what goes through his head." Lorelei gave a heavy sigh as Erin crossed her arms. "At least let me try, if he doesn't reply then I can say I made an effort."
Erin stayed silent, thinking this was a dumb idea and could be asking for trouble, but... she gave in. "Fine, so what are you needing from me?"
"I'm not old enough to buy stamps or even send out the letter, you could do that for me, I can do the rest." She lightly shook her notebook, Erin then nods.
"Alright, I'll do this for you, and when is this assignment due?"
"In 3 weeks, it'll be plenty of time to get to the Sanitarium and for him to think about if he wants to respond or not."
"Okay, get the letter done, and I can get it sent out by tomorrow. Cause Sundays the offices are closed." Erin gets off her bed to continue cleaning as Lorey stood to her feet.
"Oh, it'll definitely be done by tonight." She grinned before taking her leave. "Thanks sis!" She went back to her room; Erin shook her head in a playful manner. Once returned in her room, she left her door cracked as she sat on her bed, moving the plate to her desk's chair out the way. She started to write out her letter to Michael, she didn't go to crazy with her wording, she knew that it would be read by the officials first before it's handed to him, so she made it short and simple. Once she got it wrote, she folded it up then went out the room to head downstairs, taking her plate with her. Going down the steps quietly and in the kitchen, setting the plate in the sink lightly as possible, then started looking around for the envelopes in the drawers.
Once she found them, she snatched one and retreated back upstairs, luckily not seeing her father. She slipped the folded letter in the envelope before sliding it under Erin's door for her to find. She gave a yawn and decided to get some sleep. Getting some night clothes on she turned off the lights and slipped in bed, falling into a slumber.
By the next morning, Erin got up to get to work and found the envelope Lorelei left for her. Smiling, she picked it up and brought it over to her own desk and started writing out her sister's name and address on it, then Michael Myers' name, she had to do some digging to get the address for the place he was being kept in. She sealed the letter and went down to get a stamp from the counter and stuck it on. She finished getting around to go before leaving and getting in her car, first heading to the postal services. Once paid for she left to then head to work, before she had left the house, a note was placed under Lorelei's door to let her know she mailed the letter out.
Lorey finds the note when she had woken and smiled, now, it was just a waiting game. Now deciding on what to do for breakfast and the rest of the weekend.

In the next four days that passed, Lorelei's letter had made it to the Smith's Grove Sanitarium. The nurses of the patients there would check the mail to see what came for who every day. When a nurse found one with Michael Myers' name on it, there was silence, it was given to Michael's assigned nurse, it was already cut open meaning it was read over and approved. Without another word, the nurse headed to Michael's room.
She gave the door a knock before unlocking the knob and coming inside slowly. "Michael?" She spoke out calmly. Said boy was sitting on his bed, reading a book, hearing his nurse come in, he looked up.
"Sorry to disturb your reading Michael, but you actually got a letter today." She shown him the envelope. He stayed silent, he hasn't spoken a word since he was put in this place, he can speak, just chooses not to. He doesn't move from his position, he's never gotten anything from anybody before, it can't be from family, their dead. So, who could this be? His curiosity made him tilt his head, the nurse then came over and set the letter beside him. He stared at it for some time before setting his book down to pick up the envelope.
"Do you know who this Lorelei is? Were you old friends?" His nurse asked but naturally, she got no response as he was taking the written letter out and unfolding it. "I'll leave you to it then." She left and locked the door behind her. Michael watched her leave before looking back at the paper in his hand. Reading it to himself.
'To Michael.
Hope this letter reached you well. You don't know me, and I don't know you. We are close to the same age however. I heard about your story and became intrigued, fascinated even, and wanted to know more about you. I'll cut to the chase, I am writing an essay on you for school, I've dug up all I know and have come to a standstill. Of your own decision, could you tell me anything about yourself? Or your hobbies? Maybe your experiences within the Sanitarium? Anything would be great. It's due in 3 weeks, you don't have to reply back, but it's the thought that counts.
-Lorelei Lorraine.
As Michael processed what he just read, he'd scan over the letter multiple times. Knowing that someone was this invested over him was, interesting. The fact this stranger had gone as far as to contact him personally, by letter, was even more impressing. Just for a class assignment, picking him out of many people. If he ever got out of here, he would surely track her down. But for now, he set the letter back down on the bed, and stared down at it. He'll have to think on this.
When the next two weeks went by, Michael still thought about that letter, and this girl that wrote it. He was sitting in a chair, staring at the letter he had placed on a hospital tray. He was thinking about whether he should write back or not. Should he? What would this achieve? Would this cause a chain reaction for other random people to start sending him letters too? Just the idea annoyed him, with a heavy sigh, he waited for his nurse, it would be around the time she would come in with his medication.

Erin and Lorelei had gone to a café after picking up her little sister from school, Elsie was getting more bolder then ever when it comes to trying to intimidate her.
"It's been two weeks since I sent out your letter. And your homework is due by next Wednesday." Erin started as she turned down their road.
"I know." Lorelei took a glance out the window. "I doubt I'll get a respond back, but I kind of expected that to happen anyway."
"I think what you got for the essay now is good enough, in my opinion." Erin pulls into the drive, shutting off the ignition. She gets out to get the mail while Lorelei grabs her things from the back. As Erin was looking through the mail, she paused, doing a double take.
"Uh, Lorey?!" She called; the younger sibling shot her head in her direction; she held up an envelope. Lorelei quickly jogged over and snatched it out her hand to look.
Lorelei was taken back, seeing the initials MM on a Smith's Grove Sanitarium printed envelope.
"Let's go read what it says! But can't let dad see it." Erin notes. With this in mind, Lorelei shoved the letter into her bookbag, and they both headed into the house and to her room.
