Dice
Somewhere in the woods, near the coastline southwest of Kohlingen, Celes, Sabin, Edgar, and their newly reunited friend Setzer battled against three monsters: two Deepeyes and a Marchosias.
Fortunately, the monsters were nothing Celes and her friends couldn't handle. After blasting them with Blizzara, she watched the twins do their thing—a drill and raging fist to quickly dismantle the two Deepeyes. With one enemy remaining, she stepped back and looked at Setzer, expecting him to finish the job. It was his first battle in over a year—she wondered, how would he fare?
"Come on... double sixes!" Setzer said, shaking his fist vigorously before hurling a pair of dice at the Marchosias. Celes, Edgar, and Sabin all watched in confusion as the dice bounced off the monster's beak and fell to the ground. "Aw, a deuce-ace? You're kidding me!"
Flabbergasted, Celes lowered her blade in lost thought, allowing the Marchosias to swoop down and nearly claw her. If it weren't for Sabin, who intercepted the winged beast at the last second, she very well could have suffered a bloody gash across the face. The next thing she knew, the Marchosias was already down on the ground, soundly defeated as it was chainsawed by Edgar.
"Phew... that was a close one," Sabin sighed as everyone gathered themselves.
"Just my luck today..." Setzer groaned. "Everyone okay?"
"Are you okay?" Edgar retorted, frowning at the dice in front of his feet. "What in the world did I just see..."
Setzer ignored the king, and instead walked towards the befuddled woman. "Celes, you look pale."
"Setzer," Celes snapped at him, "What the hell was that?"
"It's my new weapon. Do you like it?"
She picked up the dice and examined it for no longer than a second. "It's plastic."
"That's right," Setzer chuckled. "My plastic can deal more damage than your sword."
Celes paused, unable to tell if he was serious or joking. "How so?"
"You'll see. I plan to use it to kill Kefka."
"How does it work?" she asked again, curious.
"If nothing else, the dice can serve as a nice distraction for our foes," Edgar smiled casually as he dusted off his armor.
"Agreed," Sabin added, "Leave the rest to me!"
"You're not joking, are you...?" Celes pleaded once more, but her friends had already made their way down the trail, leaving her behind. "Wait! Setzer!"
"Come on, let's go!" Setzer shouted back at her. "To Darill's tomb!"
