Hello once again! It's been a while since I have posted anything, but I'm here to give a short romance story with RockyxChase. I hope you enjoy Dragons Eternally!

It was nice for the town to let the PAW Patrol take a vacation. Though unexpected, the town gathered together to form a temporary rescue team while Ryder and the pups took a break. Those who could not help made a vow to call only when a real emergency happened to make sure not to overload the new team's workload. At first, Ryder was concerned and unsure if this was the best idea, since he had yet to see the townspeople in action. However, after a few drills and exercises, Ryder slowly warmed up to the idea and put the town in their responsibility for the week while the pups took a break.

In all of this, Ryder had noticed that all the pups did seem less energetic as daily call ins came in. Well, almost every pup. While the other pups seemed tired after missions or would lie around the lookout to catch their breaths, Chase seemed more energetic after missions and would actively seek out the other pups to play with. In fact, he seemed much more active and outgoing than before. The other pups also had noticed this change in Chase ever since he had a private talk with Ryder. When they asked Ryder about Chase, he only responded with a wave and said that it was up to Chase to tell the pups. The one pup that was completely oblivious and seemed the most tired after missions was Rocky. Unlike his cheery, uplifting self, he was now always out of breath after missions and started to sleep in more. Even after sleeping past their usual wakeup time, he still seemed tired when he was awake, and yawned frequently. The other pups started to worry that something was affecting him as well, but even after monitoring him they could not find a reason why. Rocky had gone to bed at the same time as they had, and there was no evidence that he woke up in the middle of the night. In fact, everytime he went to bed, he would instantly fall into a deep sleep, even deeper than Rubble. It was almost as though Chase had taken Rocky's energy.

While Chase did start becoming more vocal and active, what the other pups did not notice is that Chase wanted to be around Rocky more than the other pups. He would always personally wake Rocky up after letting him sleep in, as well as fetch him water and breakfast after Rocky woke up and dragged himself into the lookout. While this could be seen as an attempt to help Rocky with his unusual tiredness, Chase seemed much more playful and his eyes would get ever so slightly brighter when he was with Rocky.

"So where did you pups want to go for our vacation?" Zuma asked the group during their downtime. Their vacation officially started the day after tomorrow, and the pups were ecstatic for it. Even Rocky seemed to be a bit more of his usual self.

"I don't know, there are so many places that we could go visit!" Skye noted.

"Barkingburg." Rocky said plainly while yawning. "That's where I want to go."

Everyone seemed surprised. Rocky had been eerily quiet during their conversations, often dozing off. Everyone looked at Rocky with a varying degree of shock in their faces. It wasn't like Rocky to jump in like that, especially with how he was feeling recently.

"Uh, we could go to Barkingburg, there just isn't much to do there" Marshall stuttered, breaking the short silence.

"I'm not going anywhere else. I just want to go home." Rocky responded instantly. The pups' eyes widened and more silence followed.

"You're from Barkingburg, Rocky?" Chase asked, his head tilted slightly.

"I never would've thought you were from there!" Skye added.

"I don't talk about it much. I try not to dwell in the past, just where I am now" Rocky replied. He gave another yawn and set his head down.

"Well, Rocky does have a good point, we don't have to all go to the same place" Rubble pitched.

"That's true! Personally, I would like to go up to Jake's mountain to relax with Everest and Jake" Marshall suggested,

"Right, relax" Skye teased and a small blush formed on Marshall's face. "I would like to go to Adventure City and see the sights around there, as well as visit Liberty."

"Ooh! I heard there were some good eats there as well! I've always wanted to try them!" Rubble blurted.

"I might visit Puplantis, visit the merpups and see how they're doing," Zuma decided.

"Wow, seems like everyone already has an idea on where they want to go," Chase chuckled. "I dunno, I'm not sure if I want to go back to Adventure City, nor do I want to stay in Adventure Bay. Rocky, mind if I tag along with you?"

Rocky gave Chase a grunt, which Chase took as a yes.

"It's decided then! Come on Rubble, let's pack for our trip. I suggest you pups do the same" Skye concluded. Each pup went back to their pup houses to start preparing for their individual trips, packing their belongings they wanted to bring. After discussing their plans with Ryder, Ryder agreed with their idea and gave each pup some money for their trip. He also slipped in a bit extra for Rubble, as Ryder expected he might run out quite quickly. Soon enough, the day arrived where the pups headed out to their own vacations. After saying goodbye to each other and to Ryder, they drove off to their respective locations. Chase had offered to drive Rocky to Barkingburg, as he did not want Rocky to be tired at the wheel for a decently long trip. Rocky agreed, and, about ten minutes in, fell asleep upright in the seat next to Chase. Chase could only smile as Rocky's head bobbed up and down as he drove. After some time, he felt Rocky's head tilt onto his shoulder, startling him slightly. Chase gently patted Rocky's head and set Rocky in a more comfortable position on the seat. Soon, Chase and Rocky had entered Barkingburg, as indicated with its distinct structures and style. Rocky had also woken up as they approached.

"We're here Rocky! Where did you want to stay?" Chase asked, glancing at Rocky.

"Um, it's a bit awkward to tell you, but I live inside the castle with the princess," Rocky responded, blushing and rubbing his neck. Chase gawked once more, remembering how Rocky said before that he didn't like to think about his past. How could he want to forget something so big like that? While still baffled by Rocky's response, he drove up to the castle and parked his truck in front of the castle and hopped out of the truck. Rocky also hopped out, but seemed much more awake and aware. He was no longer yawning and sleepy, rather, he seemed almost like he returned to his usual self. Chase gave a quiet sigh of relief to see Rocky much more springy. Perhaps this vacation really was what he needed after all, Chase thought. As they entered the castle, they were greeted by the Earl at the front door.

"Greetings Rocky and Chase, Ryder has already informed me that you two will be staying for the week. Rocky, you still know where your room is, I presume?" the Earl greeted.

"Yep! Chase can sleep with me as well if that's okay" Rocky replied with a smile. Chase blushed a bit with Rocky's wording, and the Earl nodded.

"Very well. I also presume you will also want to see Sweetie?" the Earl asked. This time, Rocky blushed.

"Um, maybe not right now. Let me show Chase where my room is, then we'll see" Rocky replied shyly. Chase was suddenly curious about Rocky and Sweetie. Were they a couple and didn't tell anyone? His tail drooped a bit as the thought came into his head. Rocky beckoned Chase to follow him and pawed towards the stairs. Chase looked around during the walk, admiring the paintings and suits of armor that stood in the halls. He also noticed that Rocky had more of a bounce in his step. He could see his tail was now more upright and wagging, and his one non-floppy ear was pointed. Suddenly, the two could hear a voice hollering down the hall. Chase peeked around Rocky and saw Sweetie with an angry look.

"Rocky! You came back after all this time and not only did you not tell me beforehand, but also brought him here!" Sweetie yelled, pointing her paw at Chase.

"And him, is this the one? The one that you had left for? Does he have everything you wanted? All your hopes and dreams? What does he have that I don't? You just had to have your-" Sweetie ranted, pointing her paw at Chase. Chase had flinched backwards at the uncalled for rage towards him. Unbeknownst to Chase, Rocky gestured with his paw in a cutting motion next to his neck for her to cut it out, as well as a scared and desperate look on his face.

"Your, uh, have um, your," Sweetie stumbled as her face flushed up as she noticed Rocky's gesturing. "Your 'best friend' come with you while I'm here."

"Rocky, what in the world is she talking about?" Chase asked with a concerned face, turning to Rocky. Rocky gave a small sigh of relief.

"Ever since I lived here, me and Sweetie were, uh, good friends? When I left, she, um, thought that I was leaving her because, uh, she wasn't a good enough friend" Rocky stuttered. Chase couldn't tell if Rocky was lying, or if he was hiding something from him. Based on that, however, it seems like Rocky wasn't a couple with Sweetie, Chase thought to himself. Sweetie quickly saw herself out, tapping on Rocky's shoulder and whispering for him to find her later. Rocky swiftly guided Chase to his room down the hall and entered a room with Rocky's nameplate on it. Inside, Chase saw walls of green silk hanging from every corner with a fancy dog bed sitting in a corner. Next to it, he could see a water faucet and a treat dispenser sitting over bowls. Turning his head to the other side, he could see machines he had never seen before, though he guessed that it was for grooming and massaging.

"Stay here for a bit, Chase. You're welcome to use anything here" Rocky gestured. Chase nodded and pawed into the room as Rocky shut the door behind him. What to try first, Chase said to himself.

Rocky walked down the hall and into a different room labeled "Sweetie" and shut the door behind him. Sweetie was already waiting inside, her face was flushed from their encounter.

"So he isn't your… mate?" Sweetie asked, her face turning red.

"No, he isn't. He decided to come along with me for our vacation." Rocky explained.

"So he doesn't know about you and your … quirk?" Sweetie asked again.

"No, no one on the team knows. I haven't had the heart to tell anyone. It's something for me to deal with once that time comes." Rocky replied.

"Then, could Chase be the one, the one that you wanted for yourself?" Sweetie asked in a quieter voice. Rocky's face blushed.

"Well, I haven't seen Chase in that light before. You're still the only one that I really feel emotions for" Rocky admitted.

"I know I am, but because of your quirk, you didn't want us to be together. That's what you told me before you left. So then, if not me, then what about him?" Sweetie questioned in a smoother voice. Rocky thought for a second.

"I guess Chase seems like someone that could be my type. He is still just a friend to me, but I guess under the right circumstance I could consider it. But no one will be as great as you" Rocky answered. Sweetie gave Rocky a smile and licked him on the cheek.

"If he is the one, then I wish you two the best of luck" Sweetie whispered gently.

Rocky walked back to his room after his conversation with Sweetie. He pushed open his door and found Chase stuck inside his grooming machine. Chase's fur was much more dense than Rocky's, and the comb had jammed itself into Chase's fur. Chase saw Rocky come in and felt a wave of embarrassment rush over him.

"I thought it was a backscratcher" Chase muttered sheepishly as Rocky chuckled and pressed the manual release button. The machine suddenly relaxed and Rocky pulled the comb arm out of Chase's fur. Chase stepped out and thanked Rocky. At this point, the sky was getting dark and the two were getting tired. The long drive from Adventure Bay to Barkingburg took a toll on Chase who yawned. After getting ready for bed, the two decided that they would split Rocky's bed, each taking one half of it.

The next morning, Rocky had woken up early and tapped on Chase's paw. Chase slowly opened his eyes and yawned. He saw that Rocky was already up and waiting for him by the door. He got out of bed and followed Rocky back to the main floor, blinking himself awake. Rocky took him out the front gate and down a small path that wrapped around the castle. There, Rocky lied down and patted next to him, indiciating Chase to lie down next to him.

"Why are we up so early?" Chase yawned, rubbing his eye with his paw.

"Since we're here, I wanted to show you something that I've grown to love doing in the morning," Rocky replied, smiling. The sun had yet to rise, and Chase couldn't see anything exciting. Soon enough, however, the sun had started to rise above the horizon. The light bounced across the sky, giving a brilliant orange-red glow as the violet night sky shifted ablaze. Chase sat in wonder as the sun rose. Rocky once again set his head against Chase's shoulder, this time on purpose, and Chase responded by setting his head on his. The two pups sat and watched as the sky turned from red to orange to blue, the clouds above flowing across the sky. After a bit, Rocky got up from the ground and stretched.

"Boy, do I miss seeing that in the morning. Nothing beats the sunrise in Barkingburg to wake you up" Rocky exclaimed.

"I agree, it was breathtaking" Chase replied with a nod. "Where did you want to head to?"

"I was thinking we could spend today by the beach here. There are some pretty nice places where we can sunbathe or play around in the sand" Rocky suggested.

"Or swimming" Chase chuckled and Rocky gave him a playful nudge. After deciding, the two pups headed back into the castle and picked up some breakfast as well as prepared a picnic basket for their day at the beach.

Meanwhile, a familiar eagle caught sight of the two pups and quickly flew back to his owner. After perching onto the Duke of Flappington's arm, he squawked at the Duke.

"What's that? Two pups from the PAW Patrol are in Barkingburg and are on vacation? That is very interesting!" the Duke interpreted. "If there are only two of them alone without Ryder, now might be a good time to make a move! Now, what can I do?"

The Eagle squawked again.

"That's a brilliant idea! If I can get a hold of their pup tags, I can use them to trick my cousin to give me the throne!" the Duke exclaimed. " Now how to get them. I think I might have a tranquilizer dart somewhere around here. Aha! Here we are!"

The duke held up a single tranquilizer dart that he found in his drawer.

"Oh, there's only one dart, but two pups. How to get the other one" the Duke thought.

Back on the beach, Rocky and Chase were running around in the sand playing tag. They had set up sand walls that provided obstacles that they could run around to try to throw off the tagger. Soon, the two pups were tired and sat down underneath an umbrella they had brought. Panting, they poured themselves a bowl of water to share and chugged the water down. Rocky decided that he wanted to build a sandcastle, while Chase lied next to Rocky and took a nap. After building up a decent size castle, Rocky looked over at Chase. He was still snoozing on the warm sand, and Rocky got an idea. Slowly, Rocky dumped bucket after bucket of sand over Chase until he was covered up to his head in sand. Rocky chuckled as waited for Chase to wake up and realized what had happened. Sure enough, Chase had slowly started to wake. He gave a large yawn and went to rub his eyes. After realizing that his paw was stuck, he glanced down at himself. He saw himself buried inside the sand and Rocky was laughing his head off. Chase uselessly struggled for a few seconds before giving in and looked at Rocky with puppy-dog eyes to let him out.

Rocky pawed his way through the sand that covered Chase until Chase was able to lift himself out. Rocky admitted that Chase looked really comfortable and decided that he wanted Chase to bury him next. While Chase wanted revenge for what Rocky did, he needed to run to the bathroom to relieve himself first.

"Um, Rocky, where is the closest bathroom?" Chase asked.

"I don't think there is one around here. I usually go just down a bit past that group of trees. There shouldn't be anyone looking" Rocky pointed. Chase nodded and walked to where Rocky pointed. He made sure no one was around and did his business behind the trees. As he finished up and started to walk back, he felt a sharp pain shoot through his back leg. He yowled and turned back to see a dart sticking out his leg. Frantically, he looked around to where that dart could've come from, but his vision was already going blurry and blacked out.

Rocky waited for a while for Chase to return, and started to worry about Chase. Did he get lost? Rocky wondered. He called Chase's pup tag, but Chase didn't pick up. Rocky had already dug himself a small hole in the sand to be buried in, but quickly got out to find Chase. He walked towards the group of trees that he told Chase to head to, and saw a noticeable divot in the sand just big enough that could fit a pup. Rocky gasped as he looked around for anyone that could've seen or taken Chase. Just further down, he could see a set of footprints leading away from the beach and Barkingburg. Rocky ran down the trail to find who had possibly pupnapped Chase, running further and further away from the beach. The trail went from sand to rock quickly and Rocky realized that he was in an area that he didn't know. Slowly following the sand trail on the rocks, he soon saw a figure near a cliff face holding up an object. As Rocky got closer, Rocky could distinguish who it was. He realized that the figure was the Duke of Flappington and the object he was holding was none other than Chase. Chase was limp inside his hands as he grabbed onto the scruff of his neck.

"Rocky, I knew you would come!" the Duke exclaimed.

"Put down Chase!" Rocky growled. The Duke gave a small laugh.

"Only if you give something to me," he replied.

"What do you want?" Rocky growled again.

"All I ask for is your pup tag" the Duke replied.

"You want my pup tag? There's no way that I'll give this to you" Rocky snarled. The Duke was caught by surprise. Surely Rocky didn't prioritize his tag over his friend?

"If you don't give me your tag, I will drop Chase into the ravine!" the Duke threatened. Rocky halted. While he didn't think that the Duke would do such a thing, he also didn't want to take the chance of Chase falling to his doom.

"Fine, I'll give it to you, just put Chase down first" Rocky growled after considering his options. Rocky slowly made his way towards the Duke, allowing him to unlatch his tag and strip it away from his neck.

"See, it wasn't that hard to- Oh no!" the Duke exclaimed as Chase slipped out of his hands, sending Chase plummeting into the abyss.

"Chase!" Rocky screamed as his eyes grew wide with fear. Without hesitation, he jumped after Chase, taking a nosedive after him. There was no time to be angry at the Duke, all Rocky cared about was saving Chase. All of a sudden, a trail of blue glittery smoke started to trail off of Rocky. His fur became more shiny and fluffier and his teeth formed into points. His tail, instead of bushy, became longer and thicker and his claws became longer and slightly sharper. A small pair of curved horns appeared behind Rocky's now pointed ears and, most notably, a large pair of wings sprouted from Rocky's back. Rocky quickly shifted his wings to reduce resistance and caught up with Chase. Without much time before impact, Rocky spread his wings and wrapped them around Chase after evaluating that he would not be able to fly out with Chase. With Chase firmly in Rocky's grip and wings, Rocky closed his eyes and grimaced as he crashed through the bramble growing in the ravine and onto the cold, rocky floor.
