Christian had been working non-stop for the last couple of weeks. He knew that this was going to make him more money than any other business deal he's ever had. He couldn't let the opportunity pass him by even it meant giving up time spent with his wife, but he knew she understood how important this was to him. This was a once in a lifetime and it would make taking an early retirement an easy option, but he wasn't going to let his company go, at least not this early. He still had some good years left.
Sitting in his home office, crunching numbers onto his computer. He leaned back after a few minutes and sighed. All the numbers began to ran together and he knew that if he didn't get away for the office, he would lose his mind and possibly his eyesight from looking at a computer all day, every day for what seemed like weeks. He knew that perfect solution to help him overcome the tiredness and boredom that the day has brought him.
He grabbed phone from his pocket and quickly sent a text to Ana, his beautiful wife.
Hey baby
I miss you; wish you were here with me instead of at work.
Dinner date tonight?
Love you.
He smiled has he pushed send and placed the phone on the desk. All he wanted was to spend the day just relaxing and having some wine with the one person he loved most in the world, but he had work to do and he was grateful that he decided to work from home a lot more for those days where he needed to step away from everything and go work out or just take a break and enjoy the view of Seattle from his balcony.
After a couple minutes, there was a short beep, indicting a text message. Christian looked down and smiled again as he saw his wife's name appear on the screen. He picked the phone back and opened up the message.
My wonderful husband.
I miss you too. Good thing it's Fridays off because that means you have me for the whole weekend
Dinner tonight sounds amazing.
I love you more.
The smile never left his face as he sent a quick reply.
I love spending the weekend with you in our bed.
I will make reservations for 7 at your favorite restaurant.
I will see you later, my gorgeous wife.
There was nothing better than talking to Ana at any point during the day, either on the phone, text or better, in person. He was able to leave every work-related thing at the office and focus all of his attention on her has they spent the evening talking about their day and talk about their plans for the following day. He loved that it was just the two of them.
Christian got up from the chair and left his office. He made his way downstairs towards the kitchen. "Gail, Ana and I are going out to dinner tonight. You can take the rest of the day off."
"Ok, Mr. Grey. Thank you. Let me just finish up your lunch and I'll be on my way." Gail responded.
She placed a plate of food on the breakfast bar. Christian walked over and sat down. Gail cleaned up the kitchen and as soon as she was done, she smiled at Christian, grabbed her belongings, and headed towards the door. "Have a good night, Mr. Grey. I will see you tomorrow" She left.
Since he took a late lunch, he didn't have that much time left in his day. He felt like he couldn't work anymore and wanted to cut the day short. It was Friday and he wanted to enjoy the weekend and not have to think about work until Monday. By then, he would have a clear head and be able to finish his current project by early next week.
After putting his dishes into the dishwasher, Christian got an idea. "Taylor." Christian called out.
"Yes, sir" he responds as he entered the room.
"I want to surprise Ana at her office. Please pull the car around."
"Of course, sir." Taylor left
Christian ran up the stairs to get changed into something more comfortable. He came back down within seconds. He placed his phone into his pocket and took a look around just in case he forgot anything. He left and shut the door behind him.
It was a rare that Christian visited Ana at work. It was her place to be herself. It was her world and he wanted her to be able to go there and be her own person. She was in her element. When she was there, she shined, and it showed when she came home every night.
As he was making his way towards his wife's office, he began to feel a little uneasy, he shrugged it off and continued on, but he knew it wasn't a good feeling. Working all hours in the day and trying to see Ana in between was about to catch up with at some point. He needed the weekend and some sleep, and he'll be back to his old self in no time.
