Prompt 24 - "I need you to pull over"
Living life to the fullest, in his outgoing extroverted way, Zack rarely had regrets. Not that he didn't make mistakes, but it was very rarely worth the time to dwell on them. From what Zack could see it was usually a much better idea to move forward and instead, try not to repeat mistakes.
Today was becoming a notable exception. Today he was supposed to fulfill a dare. Reno had issued his dare with a sly smirk and overweening confidence, as if to goad Zack into accepting. Waste of time and effort on Reno's part because Zack not only accepted without hesitation, he agreed enthusiastically.
The dare was a ride along in the helicopter as Reno executed his best, most hair raising flying maneuvers, with the stated goal of making Zack beg for it to stop or beg for land. Laughing at such an idea Zack had baffled Reno with questions of what stunts he could pull while flying. He wanted to make sure he could fully appreciate every second.
Today's date had been agreed upon and Zack was supposed to be at the airfield in thirty minutes. Hesitating, Zack considered his options. Currently he felt slightly off, a sorta queasy feel but not actually nauseous. He knew claiming to be sick would be taken as a victory by Reno. Zack would never live it down.
He could bag out, though he would get some funny looks for it. Or he could stick to his guns, it wasn't like he was actually sick. He really did want to get this chance to see Reno's flying too. Zack had heard stories about Reno's flying! If he backed out now maybe Reno wouldn't give him a chance again.
At the unbearable thought of missing out, Zack's mind was made up. Confidently walking towards the air facilities, Zack grinned, he had a dare to meet.
Ten minutes early, Reno sauntered up to his favorite helicopter, two witnesses in tow. The red haired man stopped in his tracks when he saw Zack and Cloud already there and waiting.
"You weren't kidding about wanting to fly were you? Reno drawled, an amused smirk plastered on his face.
Cloud rolled his eyes at the grin that split Zack's face.
"Why would I kid! I have heard the stories, no way I would miss that! Zack enthused, looking like he was about to bounce in place.
Reno smiled more genuinely this time, no one could mistake Zack's sincerity, most couldn't resist it.
Glancing at Cloud, Reno's smirk came back. In a fake sweet voice, Reno asked, "You sure you don't want to ride along too Cloud?"
A dry, almost mocking, hint of a smile formed on Cloud's face. "Nope."
Throwing his arm over Cloud's shoulder, Zack leaned on the smaller blonde. Ruffling the younger man's hair, Zack teased his friend. "Cloudy here gets motion sickness. If a truck is out I doubt a heli is going to be an option any time soon," Zack said. As Cloud ducked out from under Zack's weight, Zack shot Reno a warning glare while his grin took a feral cast.
Putting his hands up in mock surrender, Reno laughed, "I got it, no picking on the runt."
Ignoring Cloud's own glare, Reno hauled himself into the pilot seat, "Shall we get this show on the road?"
Scrambling up into the co-pilot's seat, Zack was like a kid in a candy store. Cloud, and Reno's friends backed up as Reno started flipping switches and the engine roared to life.
Take off was exhilarating! Zack watched with delight as the earth shrank below them, his stomach was left behind for a few minutes but then stabilized. There was so much to see! Zack eagerly stared out the windows just staring at the view. For a few minutes, Zack forgot why they were up there at all.
"Here we goooo!" Reno hollered into the mic with glee.
At first Zack was ok, then each new stunt made his stomach worse. Stomach roiling, Zack felt like he was turning green.
"Hey man, your lookin' a little pale, ready to give up?" Reno asked, certain of his victory.
"No way!" Zack managed to say safely, "Maybe you can just pull this thing over and we can keep going?"
Reno's jaw dropped, unable to look away from Zach.
Feeling a sense of panic, Zack said, "No, seriously!" He swallowed thickly, trying to keep the rising bile down. "I need you to pull this thing over!"
A study in disbelief Reno stared. Then as his brain caught up he smiled mischievously.
"Open your door man!" Reno yelled, right as Zack was about to give up.
Confused, Zack couldn't ask a question, He wasn't sure he could open his mouth. Opening his door, Reno suddenly twisted the helicopter to the side and Zack's stomach could no longer be denied.
Puking his guts out the door of the helicopter as they flew by, Zack watched as his vomit splattered on Shinra tower. Feeling much better, He gave Reno a thumbs up and he swallowed some water to rinse his mouth out.
"All good now?" Reno asked, quite pleased with himself.
"Feeling much better! Thanks!" Zack answered stomach was back to normal finally.
"Do you want to head back?" Reno inquired, tipping his head towards the air field landing pad.
"No way! What else can you do?" Zack answered, enthused to properly enjoy himself fully now.
Reno cackled, and twisted towards a nearby canyon to some seriously tricky flying.
"Whoo-hoo!" Zack yelled, he no longer had any regrets about today.
