Camp Olympus
Chiron looked out at the camp watching the young demigods training in the area, each of them smiling as they laughed and joked with each other. The legendary trainer allowed a simple smile to himself, this generation of demigods could enjoy their lives in an environment safe and free from monsters. Free from the stresses that a demigod life would normally present they could have a semblance of some sort of childhood, not having to worry about the next monster attack or miss on the simple pleasures of life. As he contemplated life a rush of air grazed past him as he found Hermes standing in front of him. The normally cheerful carefree god was stony-faced and looked almost angry as he held a letter in his hand,
"Lord Hermes, how may I help you today" Chiron enquired with positivity, the god grimaced as he handed the letter to the centaur,
"Lord Zeus in his infinite wisdom has issued a quest for the demigods" he responded to the trainer who took the letter and started opening it in front of the god. The letter simply read
Retrieve Perseus Jackson, Bring him to Olympus.
Blood drained from Chiron's face, the positive attitude he had dissipated quickly replaced by an overwhelming sense of anxiety, he looked back to the god who still looked stony-faced,
"Why?" Chiron asked grimly, Hermes glanced at the sky before replying in a low tone
"The king requests his presence it is non-negotiable" the god replied glumly
Chiron looked at Hermes, before slowly nodding his head. He knew best to argue with the gods, Hermes nodded in response before saying farewell and disappearing in a flash of dust. The legendary trainer looked solemnly at the letter; Percy had been easily the best student in history the camp was a testament to that. And the young demigod's only wish was to escape from the life he had, yet time and time again the gods found a way to rope him back into the limelight. He galloped back to what was still known as the big house, one of the larger buildings where the campers held meetings to discuss various topics, as he entered, he pressed a small button on the side of the wall. Powered by Hephaestus and Iris they created an alarm system in all areas to notify camp councillors of a meeting, due to the sheer scale of the camp Chiron was unable to simply round up campers as he used to. He took a seat and wait for the heads of the camp to slowly reach the building.
Over the next 20 minutes, campers slowly started to file into the council room one by one, startled by the look on Chiron's face. The trainer in question did not speak a single word until the final camper sat down at the large table, when this happened, he stood up and addressed them all,
"Thank you all for coming quickly it is appreciated, I have just received a message from Lord Hermes from the Olympians. Lord Zeus himself has issued a quest for us to complete." The room exploded with questions as Chiron simply sighed drowning out the noise of councillors joyfully talking to themselves and asking him questions.
Many of the campers were overjoyed to be able to partake in a quest after the giant war quests were non-existent, every single camper wanted a quest to prove their worth to their parents and enter the hall of heroes. Many councillors started talking amongst themselves smiles on their faces as others badgered Chiron for more details desperately trying to get their chance to get on to the quest.
Back to Percival
Percy was standing in a small clearing outside of his house close to the lake, here was his designated training spot. His brow dripped with sweat as he hacked and slashed at the various dummies set up around the clearing. He had been practising his sword skills for hours, he had stayed diligent in his age not allowing his skills to decline but age was a factor he had to consider, he was not as energetic, young and lithe as he was previously. As he hacked and slashed, he couldn't help but look back to all the people he had failed, the people who had died for him, and the sacrifices he had made. As his mind kept taking him down the rabbit hole Percy got angrier and angrier a mantra started chanting in his head you could have been stronger, you could have saved everyone, you have been weak.
"The hacks, slashes, ducks and dives increased in ferocity as he allows himself to get angrier than he ever had before. The voices in his head chanted along almost goading him to fight them, before he screamed
"I AM NOT WEAK" slashing the dummies as hard as he could before roaring out towards the lake to use his birthright on the lake. The normal tug of the gut he felt was instead replaced by a burning sensation flowing through his chest. His anger powering him through the pain he continued to lift the entirety of the lake, causing the burning to extend to his whole body, his nerves screeching at him to stop. The battle of anger vs exhaustion played out as the previous hours of training caught up to the demigod as he relinquished his hold on the water before staggering back towards a tree. He wiped his face as he slumped down the tree, as he looked down his hand was smeared with blood, reaching up again he felt a steady stream of blood flowing out of his nose. He got up to go back towards the house, but as he got up his vision started to darken and blur
" Oh, fuu-" he slurred as he slumped into a pile in the clearing. The inky blackness of being unconscious overtook him as he passed out in the clearing.
"As Percy woke up, he attempted to sit up from his position, his eyes bleary. Finding that he sunk into whatever he was sitting on. Confused he blinked a couple of times, as he was 99% sure the floor outside was not soft, as his eyes adjusted, he realised he was in his bedroom. He searched his thoughts and the last thing he remembered was passing out after training on the floor, scolding himself in the process he tried to exert too much too soon. He stumbled across his room toward the living area, where a woman was sitting on the couch not looking best pleased.
"Percy, Will you please explain to me why I found you passed out, outside your home covered in blood?" She enquired with an eyebrow raised, the demigod cringed as he forgot about his nosebleed,
"I was uhm training" he answered nervously, as the women scowled at his response
" That looked less like training and more like being unnecessarily harsh on yourself and trying to get into a coma" she chastised, before getting up and pulling him into a hug "I'm glad you are okay, I was worried I thought I was going to have to call Apollo," she said softly into his ear, before pulling back out of the hug, Percy looked at her for a moment a smile tugging at the corner of his lips
" I'm sorry I didn't mean to go that hard, thank you for not calling Apollo I appreciate it" as he sat across the sofa gesturing for the woman to do the same, as she sat, she looked at Percy, almost waiting for something. Percy looked at her concern before scratching his brain as hard as he could. Before the penny finally dropped "OH MY GOD I SAID ID MAKE DINNER" he attempted to launch himself towards the kitchen, causing him to end up in a pile on the floor causing the lady sitting opposite to chuckle softly and she stood up and helped Percy back to his feet mirth twinkling in her eyes as she smiled to the demigod who tried his best to make the floor swallow him whole.
"Don't worry Perseus I don't expect you to make anything for me in your state" she smiled at the demigod " But I do expect you to make it up to me next time I visit?" she said with a mock sternness causing both of them to laugh as they quickly embraced,
" I will make it up to you don't worry, thanks for getting me to bed I guess, until the next time Leto" as he bade the Titaness farewell as she flashed away. Percy finished the rest of the night by slowly guiding himself around the cabin, grabbing some food and deciding the best course of action was to go back to bed after his strenuous session. As he staggered back over to his bedroom flopping back onto his bed letting himself slowly pass out and let Morpheus take care of him
