Chapter 1: New Frontiers
Location: ?
Time: 00:21
In the darkest of forests in the dead-on night, a shining light cut through the darkness, gliding past tall trees and buried rocks sitting idly in its path. Passing over a hill side, the glowing light descended towards the ground, illuminating the surrounding area in a light white glow.
Coming to a stop just before a familiar looking chair like structure, a chrome metal flying pod came to a halt, landing gently on the ground, air rushing from its intakes. As its burning engines finally powered down, the canopy of the machine flung open with a hiss, a large, gloved hand reaching out, grasping onto its outer body.
From the pod a towering figure immerged, both feet hitting the ground with a dull thud, its thick, black boots causing a small cloud of dust to spring up from the impact. Walking forward the figure, a middle-aged bald man wearing a bright red lab coat with golden buckles, slowly pulled out a round device from his pocket, holding it in one hand as he carefully approached the towering structure.
Climbing onto the base of the mossy ancient relic, Doctor Ivo Robotnik held out the device in his hand, a mischievous smile spreading across his mustache covered face. The device, a strange red and black storage device of some kind, rolled around in the palm of Eggman's hand, his insignia shining in the moonlight, lighting up its surface.
Smirking to himself, Eggman raised a gloved hand into the air, before slamming the device down onto the gateway with a thud. The structure jumped to life, glowing with an ominous ruby energy. At the head of the gateway, a massive build up of energy gathered, pulsing just like the rest of the structure.
"Uploading AI data now…" A robotic feminine voice rang out across the open ruins.
Suddenly, the sky above the ruins burst open with a crystal-like portal structure, spreading across the sky with a blinding red illumination. Small, energized gateways began forming around the mad doctor, chrome covered machines exiting from their void like cores.
Eggman let out a giddy giggle, laughing madly to himself as he stared around at the now forming army of machines. Off in the distance, just past the mountains and treelines, a large, titanic machine appeared in an aura of glitchy red particles, its shadowy, intimidating figure going unnoticed by the mad doctor.
"Yes… its all coming online!" He stated with a chuckle, place his hands together in a pleased manner. "Soon, the Ancient's secrets will me mine…"
Suddenly being pulled from his fantasies by the sound of sparking electricity, Eggman turns back to face the gateway portal. The sleek device he had placed onto the portal frame jumped to life with another burst of energy, sparking with ruby lightning to hot to touch.
"Status report…" Eggman asked in a confused tone, walking closer to the device. "Answer me!"
"Simulations complete… Executing Protective protocol initiative." The feminine voice said, glitching and breaking up as it spoke.
"What!?" Robotnik shouted in rage and panic, reaching out to grab the device.
What he didn't expect, however, was for the device to start sinking into the mossy stone structure… dragging him in with it.
"No! NO!" Eggman shouted out loud, trying to back away from the relic with all his might. Yet, he could not escape its binding grasp and was sucked into the portal frame, disappearing in a ruby flash of light.
The area around the portal returned to silence once more, the sounds of leaves rustling in the wind being the only thing that could be heard for miles.
U.A. High Academy, seen as the shining pillar that holds up hero society, even more so since All Might's retirement; the school is known for producing some of the most outstanding and brightest heroes of the next generation. From skilled heroes like Eraserhead to the more popular ones like Present Mic, many Pro heroes started their journeys at the most prestigious hero school in Japan… Including the top heroes like All Might and Endeavour.
U.A. and its principle, a short, rat dog thing with a brain too big for any sain being to possess, pride themselves on the skills and abilities of their students. While students with flashy and powerful quirks are always good for the public eye, its those that are smart, intelligent and tactful that usual make it the furthest… at least, that's what they liked to believe anyway.
Above all else, however, U.A. prided itself on the safety and security of not only the campus, but the students that resided there. For the longest of time, this reputation stood unchallenged, safe and secure… and then, the new batch of students arrived.
In no way, shape or form did the Teachers at U.A. blame the students of class 1-A for their constant… predicaments. Ever since their first week and the events of the U.S.J, class 1-A had somehow constantly found themselves in the middle of conflicts between the train professional heroes and a new ground, who called themselves the League of Villains. They were somehow always at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Yet, at the centre of this seemingly uncontrolled chaos, sat one consistency.
The U.S.J, the Forest training camp, the encounter with All for One, Overhaul and many more incidents had been recorded, all having one common outlier… Izuku Midoriya. For the longest of time, this one boy had a way of throwing his teachers through a loop, getting into trouble more than anyone else thought possible… even if he wasn't trying to.
The young hero in training, or as he had come to be known by the staff, the Problem Child always seemed to find his way into the middle of chaotic situations; in part thanks to his unbreakable will to save people. While his skill and determination was commendable, it was also worrying… he seemed to have so little regard for his own life, willing to throw it all away just to save one person.
Shota Aizawa, Midoriya's homeroom teacher and mentor had started referring to these incidents as "The curse of the Problem Child" they were becoming so common.
After another recent incident outside of U.A. grounds involving the boy and two pranking villains; one which U.A. decided to quietly sweep under the rug to safe face for the school reputation, Nezu and Aizawa had decided it was best to try and keep Midoriya confined to the school for a while… mainly for his safety, especially since the villains had marked him as a primary target.
Everything was going so well. For once, it seemed like the class would have a normal week of school…
And then it happened…
All at once, the entire class of 1-A had disappeared… vanished into fin air without a trace. At first, the teachers believed it was some practical joke of some kind… a way to get back at them for being locked inside of school grounds. Yet, as the day went on and not a single student showed back up, things started to become more serious.
A complete search of the campus was preformed, looking for any clue as too where they may have gone… nothing. The dorms were carefully analysed, scouring for any sign of a kidnapping or villain attack… yet there was no signs of a struggle, so that was off the table. Questions were being raised, wondering if they had just wondered of the campus or something… so they discreetly searched the Musutafu and all its nearby cities.
They searched for weeks…
Yet, no matter what the pros tried, the made no progress in finding their students.
One thing was very clear though…
The Curse of the Problem Child had struck again…
All he could do was yell, screaming out into the seemingly endless abyss of spinning colours. Everything burned, like he was entering the planet's atmosphere and burning up on re-entry. His muscles and bones ached and stung, like they had been drenched in blazing magma, stretched and bent to fit into a form that was not his own.
And yet, all Izuku Midoriya could do was fall revving in pain, hoping and praying for this nightmare to end…
Then suddenly, it all just… stopped.
The pain subsided as the world returned to a somewhat normal perspective. Izuku groaned, stretching out as he felt the cold, smooth sensation of the soft grass beneath him. The wind blew coolly in the air, sending a gentle breeze through his messy green hair. Opening his stinging eyes, Midoriya took a moment to focus on the environment around him, mind spinning as he tried to realign with the world.
Only then did he realise the gravity of the situation…
All around him, the sky bent and glitched, almost as if it could not keep one solid form. The dirt beneath his feet had the same effect, making him loose balance for the slightest of moments, before regaining his composure. He seemed to be on an island of some kind, other chunks of land floating through the sky all surrounding him, seemingly defying gravity.
Confused and wanting to get out of this strange place, Midoriya slowly began to make his way down the winding checkerboard patten before him, watching his step as he went. His body seemed lighter, skinnier even, almost as if he was half the size he was before. Thinking he was probably just imagining things, Izuku set his mind back to the task at hand, making his way along the seemingly obstacle course like track, along the way dodging sharp, metal spikes, a beetle like robot riding on a single wheel; of which his promptly destroyed, it fading away with the same glitchiness as the sky; and the strangest of all, a loop-de-loop.
Finally, after all this chaos and weirdness; not that it was anything new to Midoriya, he finally came across what he could only describe as… a swirling, glitchy, white tear in reality itself.
The greenie got closer and closer, every hair on his body raising like hit with static. Strangely, Izuku was getting a strange feeling of Déjà vu, like he had already done this all before. Then, without a warning, Izuku was sucked into the portal, it rapidly snapping shut behind him with a pop, gone without a trace.
By the time Midoriya had once again regained his bearings; for what seemed like the fifth time today mind you, he had already arrived on the other side of the spinning vortex, landing face first onto the cold hard dirt.
He appeared to be in some kind of ravine, surrounded by massive walls of stone, covered top to bottom in thick moss. Behind him, a massive stone structure sat, strangely shaped like a chair covered in moss. At its base sat a gear shaped hole, a glowing gear placed snuggly in it.
With a grunt, the once discombobulated boy climbed to his feet, shaking off his fur as an annoyed grumble escaping from his muzzle…
"Wait… my what!?"
As almost by instinct, Izuku's hand shot up to his face, palm coming into contact with the new furry part of his face… in fact, most of his face seemed to feel that way, covered in short green fur. At the sight of a nearby puddle, Izuku rushed over staring down at the face that met him.
In place of the young, green haired 16-year-old boy Midoriya expected to find, he was met with the face of a young, green and white furred anthropomorphic wolf, with similar colouration to his hero costume. His air force gloves, belt, boots and ankle guards were all that remained, the rest of his hero costume seemingly becoming part of his colour scheme. Around his neck, a large patch of puffy white fur sits. At the base of his back, a green, black and white tail could be seen swinging back and forth. Finally, atop his head, two large, pointy wolf like ears twitch, constantly listening out for sounds in the environment.
Deku could help but stare at his new self, patting and poking at his new body parts in scared fascination and curiosity. Behind him, his tail swung side to side, wagging at the sight of his new form.
"What happened to me…?" Izuku asked aloud, not expecting an answer… imagine his surprise when he got one.
"Mortal…"
Midoriya, completely taken off guard by the booming voice yelped, jumping feet into the air in terror. He glanced around, trying to find any sign of where the voice was coming from… yet he found nothing.
"H-Hello?" Midoriya shouts out, eyes darting around in panic. "W-who's there? Show yourself!"
"You have done the impossible." The feminine voice boomed out once more, seeming speaking in his mind. "You have escaped Cyber Space through your own power… you are the key."
""Key", huh?" Izuku questioned, regaining his composure slightly. "Sure beats being called a "brat" or "problem child."" He says with a slight chuckle.
Then, in a moment of realization, reality hits Midoriya in the face like a speeding train.
"Wait… it looks like I'm the only one who made it out of that... cyberspace place. What about my friends? My classmates? Are they still trapped inside?"
"Are you saying I can rescue my friends?" Midoriya blurts out without thinking.
"Find the Chaos Emeralds… Destroy the Titans. Tear down the Walls between dimensions."
Midoriya blinks, face dropping at the riddle.
"Chaos what? Titans!? What are you— How about a little context?" Asks the green furred wolf, trying to piece together what he had to do.
Silence…
"Hello?" Midoriya shouts once more, still receiving no reply. "Why is nothing ever simple?" He lets out a sigh, thinking over the disembodied voices words… that sounded a lot crazier out loud than it did in his head.
First, find a way out of this hole that he was trapped in and find out where the hell he was on planet earth.
Second, figure out what happened to him and see if any of his friends had been effected in the same way. If so, find a way to reverse it… he had a feeling U.A. would find it hard to explain this to he and his classmates parents if not.
Third, find one of these "Chaos Emeralds" so he can start finding his friends.
Forth, find out what a Titan is and how to defeat it!
Fifth, "tear down the wall between dimensions"?! Izuku guessed that had something to do with that cyberspace place. He decided to look into it further later…
"Oh well, some direction is better than none… more than I usually get, anyway." With a determined look in his eyes, Midoriya readies himself for the journey ahead.
"Here goes nothing!"
