Chapter Five
A couple of days past, and Tyroth stood in the mess hall looking at the stage.
Up covering the wall was a large canvas mural of a beautiful snow-covered landscape in the moonlight which Leona, Tania, and even the kids had helped put together.
Looking at it, the Dragon felt a sense of nostalgia, especially when it came to the memories of Sweden when he was a little boy.
Also, there were some large red curtains that had been put up ready for the show, a boom box for the music as well as some props and sets that Leona, Cam and Barry had put together.
Old George walked up to the Dragon and admired the stage.
"Wow! This looks amazing son!" he said, "I do love the mural!"
"Me too!" Tyroth smiled "I'm so happy everyone was enthusiastic to pitch in, and now the stage and equipment is ready, we just got three more days until showtime!"
Old George smiled.
"I for one cannot wait to see what acts will be performed!" he said, "And Splinter and myself have decided we too wish to take part!"
Tyroth's eyes widened, and he looked down at the old tortoise.
"Seriously?" he asked in surprise as he tried to think about what the old turtle and rat would do for an act.
"What do you plan to do Gramps?" he asked.
Old George looked up at the Dragon with a twinkle in his eye.
"That my boy is for me to know, and you to find out!" he quipped then looked back at the stage.
Tyroth was a little disappointed he wasn't to know what Old George had planned, but he was excited to know, since there was only three days to go until the show.
"I do wonder what he and Splinter have got planned, I got no clue what they plan to do, but I do like surprises!" he thought "Also, I should think of what to do as well, as I wouldn't mind a go at being part of the show, not just a producer!"
Meanwhile, on one of the Islands in Lake Michigan, Michelangelo, Kate, Jake, and Amber were watching over the kids whilst they built some snowmen.
Whilst in Mutopia for the Christmas holiday, it had snowed heavily and many of the islands had many inches of snow.
It wasn't anything new to the Mutopians or the New Yorkers since they got a lot of snow where they were, and Jake always expected it when back in Wisconsin.
The large lake itself wasn't frozen but everyone knew the water would be freezing so they stayed clear of it.
As they watched Pandora, Sonia, Kemeko and the Geckolings building their snowmen, Jake couldn't help but sigh.
"You okay dude?" Michelangelo asked noticing his brother in law's demeaner.
"Yeah." Jake replied, "It's just watching the young ones enjoying themselves makes me think of my days back home, when it snowed and Mona, Callum and I would build snowmen and have a snowball fight together."
Amber patted Jake's shoulder in sympathy.
"You know Jake, Ray ...I mean, Tyroth and I always built Snowmen together and he would often tell me of our homeland Sweden, since I was only a very young child before we immigrated to America."
"Did he?" Jake asked.
Amber nodded.
"I wish I could remember more about it, but he, mum and dad tell me stories about it, and from what I gather, Tyroth and Donatello have been educating the kids about it too, especially Freya and Loki since it is part of their heritage! As well as learning Swedish and Dragon language!"
"I'd love to learn too!" Jake said.
"Would you?" Amber asked.
Jake nodded.
"Well, I'm always up for learning, and since things have, well, changed for me in life, because of certain events, I feel I have more time to learn more than I would in my wildest dreams!"
"Well, you got a lot to learn!" Michelangelo laughed "Doubt you'd learn it in a lifetime!"
Jake smirked.
"Wanna bet?" he asked.
"Hey!"
The adults looked towards the kids as they called to each other.
"How's your snowman looking?"
Pandora grinned as she patted the snow down on her snowman.
"I think I got a good one here!" she cried "Just need to give him a head and add my accessories then I'm done!"
"Me too!" Kemeko called over.
Sonia cheered.
"This is fun!" she cheered.
Loki agreed as he placed a small ball on top of a larger one and Freya did the same with hers.
Kate smiled as she watched.
"I remember when I was a little girl and I used to look out the classroom window when the snow fell and how I longed for lessons to be over so we could enjoy the snow before it thawed, and how I would show off my skills on the frozen lakes and the local rink!"
Michelangelo squeezed her hand and smiled at her.
"You're a pro babe." He said, "When you skate at the Rockefeller Centre back home, you draw a crowd with your skills!"
Kate blushed and lowered her head and Michelangelo chuckled before leaning over and kissing her cheek.
"Awww!" Amber smiled "That's so cute!"
Jake cocked his head on one side as he watched them.
"How exactly did they get together?" he asked.
"I'll tell you the story another time Jakey." Amber replied with a wink.
Jake opened his mouth to speak but he gasped in shock as he felt something collide with his head and he looked over to see Pandora with her arm out revealing she had thrown a snowball and it had collided with his head.
"Uncle Jake!" Pandora cried "I'm sorry! I was throwing it at Loki!" she pointed behind Jake showing the young boy Geckoling had run behind him.
"No worries kid!" Jake called "You better get some practice in!"
"She's so right!" Freya called over from the side to which Pandora growled then gathered some snow and threw it at Freya where it collided with her face and the female Geckoling was knocked off her feet and fell flat on her back.
"Strike!" the hybrid cheered.
"No fair!" Freya shouted as she sat up.
The grown-ups laughed then decided to stop the fighting before it escalated.
"Hey kids!" Michelangelo called out "You want to continue building your snowmen, then we can judge them?"
At once the children stopped fighting with snowballs and went back to building their snowmen.
"Sure thing Uncle Mike!" they said in unison.
Amber and the others laughed as they watched, and they soon saw how the children were designing their snowmen.
Pandora had decided to build a large one with a brown scarf and cloth cap along with coal pieces for eyes, an orange for a nose and had drawn on a mouth.
Sonia had done two snowmen, a little and large with sticks for arms as well as stones for eyes, nose, and mouth.
Kemeko had done a snowman with a one ball for a body and a small ball for a head with a carrot nose and a headband with reindeer antlers on it.
Meanwhile the Geckolings had done two snowmen standing together holding hands.
Both had at hat each, one had a flat hat, the other a tall top one as well as different coloured scarves, one green the other red as well as stones for eyes, a nose and mouth.
"Oh wow kids!" Jake commented as he looked, "They all look amazing!"
At the same time, Amber took a few photos.
"These will look great in the album!" she said.
Michelangelo walked up and down observing the snowmen and grinned.
"To tell you the truth kids!" he said "I don't know which is best! They all look awesome!"
Pandora, Kemeko, Sonia, Freya and Loki smiled at each other proudly.
"Indeed yes!" Amber agreed "I can't decide at all!"
"In that case kids!" Jake announced with his hands in the air, "You're all winners!"
The kids looked each other and cheered before high fiving and hugging each other.
"It's true!" Jake confessed to Amber "they all look amazing; I really can't decide!"
Amber agreed.
"I have to say, they do look pretty good!"
"Come on you two!" Michelangelo cut in "There's no need for a true winner, all of them can get a prize back in Mutopia! And we got some good photos for memories!"
"Absolutely!" Kate agreed.
Amber laughed but she agreed and looked back at the kids.
"Come on you lot!" she called "We better get back to Mutopia, it will be dark soon!"
"Awww Aunt Amber!" Pandora protested "Just five more minutes?"
"No kid! Sorry!" Amber called "Rules are rules!"
"Aww man!" Pandora sulked as she pouted.
"You heard her!" Sonia said to which Pandora put out her tongue at the chameleon.
"Don't fret kids!" Michelangelo said, "You'll have loads of fun tomorrow, and I hope you got something planned for the talent showcase?"
"Oh yeah!" the kids said in unison.
"Sweet!" Michelangelo cheered as he clapped his hands "It's gonna be a great Christmas for sure!"
He looked to Kate and winked, and the viper winked back.
Then after a few minutes of photos in front of the snowmen and the promise of some little prizes when they got back, the children ran ahead back to Mutopia with the grown-ups following behind.
Awww! Such cool playful moments with the kids there!
Nice to see everyone was a winner there!
Keep checking back for more coming soon as we get close to Christmas!
