Hope you're all getting into the festive spirit! And to encourge it more, here's a new chapter!

Chapter Eight

After half an hour had passed, several more acts had been on and now Rattletrap was prepping himself to go onstage after Sharky had impressed everyone by showing how he could bite through several planks of wood in under five minutes, which also meant a quick sweeping up as there were splinters everywhere on the stage.

Michelangelo stood next to Percy who was wearing a black suit with a cape and a top hat and standing in front of a table with wheels on it as they were up next after Rattletrap before the first interval.

"I wonder how Rattletrap's gonna do in the show?" the orange masked turtle asked.

Percy shrugged.

"I got no idea." He said, "But I bet you a dollar it's gonna be a train wreck!"

Michelangelo handed the grasshopper a dollar bill.

"You're on!" he said to which Percy was surprised but he accepted the note.

In the audience near the front, Monalisa sat with Sephie and Amber as they saw Rattletrap walk onto the stage.

"Oh boy…" Sephie gulped.

Monalisa bit her lip.

"I hope he's not gonna sing!" Amber said.

"I think he's gonna do stand up." Monalisa suggested.

As she said that, Rattletrap introduced himself then began to speak as he tried to do a comedy piece.

At first, it looked promising, but then he started to stumble as he started to lose the audience who looked confused and then started to groan as he told many lame jokes and a couple started to boo him.

"Oh dear!" Sephie moaned as she covered her eyes "This is just too painful!"

"Where's that hook when you need it?" Amber asked.

Leonardo bit his lip and looked at Donatello who was with Hacker at the side at the music and lights and both were looking uncomfortable.

In fact, before long the whole audience started booing Rattletrap and soon the rat began to realise, he was fighting a losing battle to get the audience to laugh with him, and he decided to remove himself from the stage.

"Wise choice Rattletrap." Splinter muttered as he looked over to George who was sitting there with his eyes screwed shut.

In the wings, Rattletrap was red faced and scowling and he folded his arms.

"Damn audience!" he snapped "Don't know a good joke when they hear one!"

"Told you he'd fail!" Percy said to Michelangelo nodded silently.

"Wouldn't wanna be him right now!" he said.

"Sorry Rattletrap." Tyroth shrugged as he walked over to the rat and patted his shoulder "But I think you should have picked a different act."

"Or maybe not taken part at all!" Pandora whispered to Kemeko who nodded in agreement.

"Total train wreck!" she said.

"I heard that!" Rattletrap called over to Pandora to Kemeko who both looked up and blushed guiltily.

"Busted!" Freya and Loki laughed.

Rattletrap groaned and stomped off in a huff whilst Tyroth shook his head, as much as he felt sorry for Rattletrap, he did agree with Pandora and Kemeko.

"I don't know what's worse," he muttered "That terrible act or his engineering!" he then turned to Michelangelo and Kate.

"Alright you two! See if you can't bring back the audience!" he said.

"On it, boss!" Kate winked and clicked her tongue then turned to Michelangelo, "You ready Mike?"

"Ready when you are!" Michelangelo smiled then held Kate's hand as they skated over to the stage together.

As they entered the stage everyone cheered and clapped.

Raphael blinked as he looked at his brother skating on roller skates with Kate.

"I always thought he was more at home on his skateboard, but he seems to have adapted well to roller skates!" he said to Leonardo who nodded in agreement.

"Well since he and Kate got together, she has been giving him roller skating lessons!" he said.

The turtles turned to the stage and watched with pride as their youngest brother began to perform a skating dance as well as sing the song 'Let's Call the Whole Thing off!'.

"Of course!" Sephie exclaimed to Monalisa "I should have guessed they were supposed to be Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers with their style of clothes!"

Monalisa said nothing but watched Michelangelo proudly.

As the song finished and the instrumental ending was played, Kate and Michelangelo did a few skating spins then held hands and spun together.

Kate laughed as she gripped Michelangelo's hands and began to slow down as the song started to close, but sadly, Michelangelo looked worried as tried to slow down but couldn't remember how to!

As Kate let go of him so she could turn to the audience, Michelangelo cried out in fear as he skated out of control to the side towards Hacker and Donatello!

At first the audience thought it was part of the show, but then Michelangelo squealed in fear as he flew off the side of the stage and landed on top of Donatello!

Kate turned and watched in horror, and the audience gasped and stood up wondering if Michelangelo and Donatello were okay.

"Mike!" Leonardo, Raphael, and Monalisa said together in worry but then Michelangelo stood up quickly pulling Donatello up with him.

"I'm okay!" he called.

"Me too!" Donatello croaked rubbing his shell.

Kate looked relieved then turned to the audience.

"Let's Call the Whole thing off!" she announced adding some Jazz Hands making everyone laugh and Michelangelo after dusting Donatello down and apologising to him skated to the front and took a bow to a huge round of applause both for the performance and at the fact that Michelangelo was okay.

After the Viper and turtle left the stage, it was then Percy's turn.

Tyroth instantly went over to Kate and Michelangelo.

"Well, that was a performance and a half!" he laughed "Well done you two!"

"Thanks, Big T!" Kate and Michelangelo replied.

"You sure you're okay though?" Tyroth asked concerned.

"I'm good!" Michelangelo winked "I've had a few falls before, this was nothing!"

Tyroth nodded in agreement knowing how Michelangelo had been thrown around in his days as a ninja when fighting different enemies.

Kate just nuzzled Michelangelo affectionately.

"You're my tough turtle!" she purred to which Michelangelo hugged his girlfriend back and they went to the side to watch Percy's act.

As the grasshopper walked onto the stage along with Heather who was wearing a sparkling blue and purple dress, some upbeat music was played, and he opened the table on wheels showing it to be a magician's suitcase!

"Oh my stars!" Kate exclaimed "Hoppy's putting on a Magic Act?"

"Well, this'll be interesting!" Michelangelo mused.

Percy introduced himself to the audience as well as Heather saying she was to be his assistant and he began with some basic acts including pulling a coin from behind Heather's ear as well as making handkerchiefs appear from his sleeves and his top hat.

He then did the linking hoops and a couple of illusion tricks with cards and other small objects to which the audience gasped and applauded.

"Since when did Percy get into Magic acts?" Sharky asked as he watched with Jake.

Jake shrugged.

"He's not doing too badly so far, I tried a few myself with a couple of friends, but it never really worked for me, they always went wrong."

Sharky laughed.

"When I was kid." Jake continued "I remember having a magician at a birthday party of mine, and we always believed what he did was true magic, until I got older and started reading about the tricks and secrets behind it all!"

"Just like when you realise there's really no Santa Claus." Sharky replied under his breath "I found that out the hard way when I saw my dad putting my presents in my stocking when I was five."

"Ouch!" Jake winced.

The Shark nodded.

"Very disappointing!" he said.

After a couple of minutes, Percy seemed to do well with his tricks until a few balls fell out of the table and scattered everywhere and he got the wrong card pack for another card trick, and one trick where he tried to show how he could make water stay in the glass as he held it upside down over Heather's head completely backfired and the Dragonfly got water poured all over her head!

As that happened the whole audience was in stiches and was hysterical with laughter, and Heather was furious.

In fact, she looked ready to clobber Percy much to Kate's amusement, but she decided to leave it till the end as they still had the final act to do which was the sword in the box trick.

Everyone was a little bit nervous as Percy stuck the swords in the box and then pulled them out again.

But then everyone was relieved when Percy opened the box and Heather emerged unharmed!

"Ta da!" Percy announced and took a bow as well as held Heather's hand and encouraged the Audience to give her a cheer as well.

Tyroth cheered as the two left the stage waving at the audience and he was about to congratulate them, but Heather turned to Percy with a glare.

The grasshopper gulped.

"Come here you!" Heather barked then started to chase Percy "I'll teach you to ruin my hair!"

Tyroth stared at Heather flying after the terrified Grasshopper who hopped away protesting that he didn't mean to get her wet and that it was an accident, and he heard the children laughing hard at the spectacle.

"Well, that's a first!" he said, "Percy being chased by someone other than Kate!" he shook his head again then walked onto the stage to announce there would be a short interval.

As he entered the stage, everyone cheered and clapped then the Dragon held up his hands for quiet to which the audience obliged.

"Well, that was an enjoyable first act there!" Tyroth said to which laughs and titters were heard "And I hope they were a joy to watch!"

"Totally!"

"Absolutely!"

"Apart from Rattletrap!" a couple of calls were heard.

Tyroth nodded in agreement then looked back to the audience.

"Glad to hear that! But now, we will have a twenty-minute intermission!" he clapped his hands and the curtains closed and the lights went up.

As that happened, everyone rose from their seats and began to help themselves to drinks and refreshments.

Tyroth walked out to join the others to which George walked up to him.

"Brilliant acts Tyroth!" he said, "I must say, this Talent Showcase was a great idea!"

Tyroth smiled.

"Awww it was nothing!" he replied, "I'm just glad everyone's having a good time, and it's gone so well, despite the little hiccups at the end!"

As he spoke, he looked at Michelangelo and Kate who were being congratulated by the other turtles, April, Casey and Monalisa, although April and Monalisa started to fuss over Michelangelo and Donatello asking if they were both okay to which they replied that they were and that they had had worse when in in battle.

He also looked around for Percy and Heather and he soon saw them over by the Hatch leading to the kitchen talking to Patch, Louie, and Amber.

He was relieved to see that they had put aside the fighting as well as secretly hoped they had resolved the issue regarding the water trick gone wrong rather quickly.

Yet the dragon realised that Rattletrap hadn't come back, and he wondered if the Rat had gone off to sulk in his workshop because he failed to impress the audience.

"Pity Rattletrap's act didn't go well." George sighed.

Tyroth nodded.

"Hasn't got skills in anything that Rat." Tyroth said "Feel sorry for him, I do hope he comes back to join in the fun."

"I'm sure he will." George replied, "Just give him time, he'll bounce back, he always does."

Tyroth shrugged but decided that if Rattletrap didn't come back, he would seek him out before they were to begin the second half of the Talent Show.

So we've seen some more acts, Rattletrap failing badly at Stand up Comedy, Michelangelo and Kate doing the skate dance routine scene from the Film 'Shall We Dance?' starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers with Michelangelo flying off the stage! Poor thing!

Then Percy decided to do a Magic Act with Heather, despite a few hiccups there too, but it seems everyone had a good time!

We still got more to see! Who though? Well that's for me to know and you to find out!
