It's been a year since the last tournament, Ashura had trained for the entire year straight without resting. He wanted to get to know the world better, but he didn't want to deal with all the humans, who he still hated except for a few others.
Ashura wore a grey karate gi with the sleeves torn off, black short sleeves undershirt, a long black headband, a black martial arts belt and black shoes.
He had been sensing that presence he had been sensing once again, he wanted to investigate it, but he had been training very hard. A letter suddenly fell in front of him, he picked it up, ripped off the seal and found an invitation in it.
Ashura: You are cordially invited to this year's King of Fighters. The rules of this tournament are the same as the previous tournament. You're still allowed to participate alone.
Ashura trained once again. He wanted to visit Athena, but he didn't know where she lived. He wanted to use his sensing ability, but something was interfering with them. He walked away, ready to deal with his first opponents.
[Day of the tournament]
A commercial center in a street with puddles of water, in the night. The battle takes place near a fruit shop, a clothing store and a pottery shop. Can be seen plaques with Hangul, people, clay pots and air conditioning units. Ashura was on the opposite side of the Ikari Warriors Team. Ashura was gonna begin the battle with Clark.
Announcer: Ready, GO!
Ashura ran up to Clark and tackled him to the ground, followed up by grabbing Clark before rolling across the ground before slamming him to the ground, then he ran up and delivered an elbow drop to Clark while he was laying on the ground.
Clark got on his feet and rushed at Ashura, but Ashura threw Clark up in the air three times in quick succession, then slammed him on the ground.
Ashura then sprinted forward and then grabbed Clark before powerbombing him three times to each side of the arena.
Ashura then grabbed Clark from above, tossing him in the air, then brought him down by catching him and broke his back over his shoulders before tossing him away, while in the air, snapping him like a twig in the process. Clark was unconscious after the attack.
Ashura: You'll be promoted two ranks. You know, for death in the line of duty.
Announcer: Winner is Ashura.
Ralf was up next, he got in his fighting stance.
Announcer: Ready, GO!
Ralf tried rapidly punching Ashura with each punches generating an explosion, which Ashura dodged with ease. Ashura then grabbed Ralf, jumped forward and powerbombed him.
Ashura grabbed both sides of Ralf's head, then slammed him behind him. Ralf got on his feet and Ashura did a small leap forward, flipped himself, attacking Ralf with his legs, followed up by jumping up high, attacking Ralf with his legs, then he flipped in the air and dove downward attacking with his head, hitting Ralf and stunning him.
Ashura grabbed Ralf, turned around and rolled over him after a long jump, followed up by picking up the grounded Ralf, then slams them behind him, then he grabbed Ralf, lifting him over his head and created an explosion upon slamming Ralf.
Ralf tried hitting Ashura, but as his fist hit the mark, Ashura grabbed Ralf, slammed him once, then threw him up. He then closed his eyes while raising his arms. Just before Ralf hit the ground, he thrusted both his hands into the floor, making a fissure that launched Ralf once more.
Ashura then grabbed Ralf by his ankle, spun him around and threw him high, then jumped up to catch him with a judo-style takedown. Ralf was unconscious after the attack.
Ashura: You say you've seen Hell in battle? Well the real thing is where you'll be going soon!
Announcer: Winner is Ashura.
Leona was up next, she got in her fighting stance.
Announcer: Ready, GO!
Leona unclipped one of her earrings, then threw it at Ashura, who dodged it by jumping into the air and launched an X-shaped projectile of cutting towards Leona, who dodged it.
Leona made a ball of energy that was surrounded by a cutting energy and made it slowly travel towards Ashura, who dodged it and launched a cross-shaped projectile towards Leona, who dodged it.
Leona jumped up, spins around and slammed her front heel atop Ashura, who blocked it and spun around and tried slamming his foot while it was surrounded by cutting energy atop Leona, who barely managed to dodge the attack.
Leona swung her rear arm in a full circle, creating a ring of cutting energy around her arm, but Ashura dodged it by jumping into the air and curled into a ball before surrounding himself in cutting energy and launched himself at Leona, who dodged the attack, making Ashura create a large trench when he hit the ground.
Leona ran forward and slashed Ashura with her rear arm, followed up by jumping and swinging her front leg up in a circle, slashing Ashura with cutting energy. Ashura got up without a single scratch on his body.
Leona jumped into the air and launched a slashing energy wave in the form of an X down at Ashura, who dodged it and surrounded both of his fists with cutting energy and charged at Leona and tried punching her in the face, she dodged but he managed to graze her cheeks. Ashura punched Leona in the guts in the guts before hitting her with a powerful rising uppercut while surrounded by cutting energy, sending her into the air while bleeding.
Leona jumped into the air before dashing down towards Ashura while slashing him before jumping up and continuing her slash, making a large V slash wave on Ashura, making him explode.

Ashura swung his arm forward, releasing a huge crimson projectile of cutting energy towards Leona, who couldn't dodged it because of it's size. It hit her and nearly ripped her in half, it then exploded when it was miles away from the area. Leona was revealed to be unconscious after the attack.
Announcer: WINNER!
Ashura: Huh? Another match? Oh, G...Grrreat! I love my life. (Not.)
Ashura walked away from the area, when he got a couple of feet away, he got surprised when he saw Athena. Athena was walking towards him.
Athena: Ashura, it's nice to meet you again after a long time.
Ashura: Me too, beautiful.
Then the two of them started walking together.
Ashura: Can I ask you something?
Athena: Ask right away.
Ashura: What do you see in humans?
Athena: I see people who can make our world a better place. There are those who are evil, but they can change and make the world a peaceful place.
Ashura: When I look at the humans, the only thing I see are a bunch of trashes. They destroy nature for their own demands. I have lost my home because of humans, I lost everything I have ever lived for in the hands of humans. I want to kill all the humans, but I want to give them another chance.
Athena: Why do you want to kill them. when I see you, I see a young hero who was meant to save the world from destruction. Why don't you hate me?
Ashura: You just remind me of her.
Athena: Her, who is she?
Ashura: The first woman I have ever fallen in love with. She died, I was gonna give her everything she needed. There's no girl who's gonna replace her.

Athena and Ashura walked their separate ways. Ashura found out the results of this round. They went like this:
Hero Team fought Fatal Fury Team and won.
Yagami Team fought Art Of Fighting Team and won.
Psycho Soldier Team fought Korea Justice Team and won.
He was gonna fight the Yagami Team up next.
[Following day]
A pier next to various ships and the ocean. The fight takes next to the one of them. Can be seen chains, propellers, ship debris, a boat, small buoys and a crane in the background. Ashura was on the opposite side of Yagami Team. He was gonna begin the fight with Jun.
Announcer: Ready, GO!
Jun tried hitting Ashura with a hard kick, which Ashura blocked but the force of the kick sent sent him bouncing into the crane and landed to the ground very hard. Ashura got on his feet and glared at Jun.
Ashura charged at Jun and angrily kicked Jun in the face, the force of the kick sent her through the crane and crashed into the boat before bouncing back back to Ashura, who kicked her into the ground, creating a huge crater.
Ashura kicked Jun into the air and leaped after her before kicking her higher into the air and flew past her, raised his foot high into the air and kicked Jun into the ground with a powerful kick, creating a huge crater upon impact. Jun was revealed to be unconscious after the attack.

Miu was up next, she got in her fighting stance.
Announcer: Ready, GO!
Miu rushed towards Ashura and tried slashing him with her hands, but he blocked the slash and tried slashing Miu on the chest, but she dodged and tried delivering a powerful slash to Ashura, who dodged it and backflipped a couple of feet away from Miu.

Iori was up next, he got in his fighting stance.

he two of them rushed at each other and started trading blows, Iori tried slashing Ashura on the head, but he ducked and tried clawing Iori in the guts but he dodged and tried kicking Ashura with his infamous backward kick, but Ashura countered with his own backward kick, then the two of them got away from each other.
Ashura rushed towards Iori and tried slashing Iori in the stomach, but Iori dodged and slashed Ashura in the back, making him bleed but the wound regenerated itself, surprising everyone.
Iori slashed Ashura in the guts and Ashura slashed Iori in the guts, the two of them were bleeding, but Ashura's wounds were regenerating themselves.
The two of them were slashing each other repeatedly before they hit each other with flaming claws, sending each other a couple of feet away. Ashura's wounds regenerated themselves.
Iori threw a purple fiery projectile that ran across the floor to Ashura, who absorbed the flame and launched a big purple fireball towards Iori, who couldn't dodge in time and was hit by the attack, creating a huge explosion.
Iori got on his feet and struck Ashura with his rear hand, then his front, and finished with a double axe-handle punch, sending Ashura crashing to the ground. Iori got on his feet and grabbed Ashura, then threw him behind him while he's still on his feet, followed up by jumps with his arms out, shrouded in purple flames, burning Ashura. Ashura got on his feet and Iori raised his arms into the air and did a familiar pose before yelling out.
Iori: Asobi wa owari da!
Iori dash-slid forward with his forward roll animation and attacked Ashura 7 times with a series of punches and claw swipes, ending with grabbing Ashura with a Hikiri Kine and exploded Ashura a few extra times before one final burst of the Hikiri Kine that launched Ashura away. Ashura shocked everyone by getting on his feet.
Iori launched two purple flame waves across the floor towards Ashura's feet, launching him, and then finished with a big pillar of purple flames hitting Ashura midair. Ashura got on his feet after the attack.
Ashura was then engulfed by a huge pillar of purple flames and started screaming out very loudly, making the purple fiery pillar of flames expand, before Ashura released a huge explosion of purple flames that destroyed everything in the area around him and Iori, the explosion engulfed Iori and Ashura. After the smoke died down, the area was coated in purple flames, Ashura was on his feet, unscathed by his own attack and Iori was unconscious.
Announcer: WINNER!
Ashura: Just trying to make you happy. Another knuckle sandwich?
Ashura walked away, he knew that he was gonna face the Hero Team in the finals.
[The following day]
A big aquarium. Can be seen people watching, workers cheering children and guards seeing over the aquarium, besides a plaid floor. In the aquarium, can be spotted algae and marine vegetation, a diver and manatees. Ashura was on the opposite side of Japan Team. He was gonna begin the fight with Reiki.
Announcer: Ready, GO!
Reiji channeled a fiery aura around his legs and tried to jump kick Ashura, but he dodged and kicked Reiji in the guts before he punched him in the face with a powerful fire punch, messing up his face.
Reiji projected mirror images of himself to attack Ashura with a high kick, but he blocked the attack and rushed towards Reiji before he delivered a powerful fire punch then a powerful side kick that launched Reiji away from him.

Moe performed a quick series of attacks on Ashura; starting with a backfist, which Ashura blocked, then a shoulder strike, which Ashura dodged and finished with a turning elbow strike, which Ashura dodged and punched Moe in the face, then kicked him in the guts, and hit her with a powerful double palm strike that sent her very far from him.
Moe retreated and then tried striking with a lunging side blow, which Ashura dodged before Moe performed an upwards somersault kick, which Ashura dodged and shoulder barged Moe, sending her crashing into the nearest wall.
Moe got off the wall and rushed towards Ashura with an uppercut, which Ashura dodged with ease and then Moe tried delivering a turning side blow, which Ashura blocked and delivered a powerful spinning punch that nearly knocked Moe unconscious.
Moe conjured up a volley of cherry blossoms and tried hitting Ashura with a spinning uppercut, but he dodged and conjured up a volley of cherry blossoms in his fist and punched Moe in the guts, causing the volley of cherry blossoms to scatter in all directions.
Moe rushed at Ashura with a barrage of kicks and finished him off with a flying stomp kick, gracefully landing after a backflip. Ashura got on his feet and got ready to end the fight once and for all.

Ashura got on his feet and charged at Kyo, he tried delivering two high kicks to Kyo, but Kyo dodged and tried delivering a punch, but Ashura blocked Kyo's attack before countering him by elbowing him in the chest which created an explosion.
Ashura stepped forward and punched Kyo and made an explosion occurring where he punched, followed by delivering an uppercut which created an explosion, then elbowing Kyo down which created an explosion that slammed Kyo to the floor, ending off with punching Kyo as he layed on the ground, creating an explosion when his fist hits Kyo.
Kyo got on his feet and spun around before punching Ashura and made an explosion occurring where he punched, followed up by delivering a one-inch punch to Ashura's stomach that caused an explosion, ending off by uppercutting Ashura and sending him flying with an explosion.

Ashura then covered himself in flames along with his rear hand, then threw them out in a big wave of flames, that engulfed Kyo and creating an explosion. Kyo was on his knees, struggling to stand.
Ashura charged up his fist with a powerful flame before dashing forward and punched Kyo, once the punch connected, a massive explosion occured, blowing up the area around the both of them. When the smoke died down, Kyo was unconscious.
Announcer: WINNER! CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE THE NEW KING OF FIGHTERS!
Ashura received his prizes, after receiving them, he went in the middle of a warehouse and waited for the person he had been sensing. Then strong winds picked up, Ashura got surprised when he saw Sinobu.
Sinobu turned away and put his hand out towards Ashura and made cutting wind appear there, but Ashura dodged it and backflipped a couple of feet away from Sinobu.
Sinobu used his wind to disappear and reappeared behind Ashura before he formed cutting blades of wind in his hand which he to use to slash Ashura, who dodged and launched a large ball of cutting wind that slashed Sinobu repeatedly upon contact.
Sinobu formed a small tornado anywhere on in front of Ashura, who formed a cutting wind in his fist and punched through the tornado before punching Sinobu in the guts, slashing him repeatedly.
Sinobu raised his arms and slashed downwards in an X pattern on Ashura's body, but he blocked the slash before launching Sinobu away with a powerful hurricane, sending him flying into the air and crashed into the ground.
Sinobu got on his feet and dashed to Ashura and started to slash at him with his claws before grabbing him by his neck and dug his nails in before letting his wind carry Ashura's blood out of his body before Sinobu jumped up and slammed Ashura into the ground. Ashura got on his feet after the attack.
Sinobu made a tornado around him that sucked in Ashura, when Ashura touched the tornado, he got pulled into it and raised into the air before being launched out of the top before he fell and hit the ground. Ashura got on his feet after the attack.
Ashura disappeared into the wind, teleporting behind Sinobu and turned and snapped his fingers with a raised hand, creating a flurry of wind around his hand, cutting Sinobu, followed up by snapping his fingers with a lowered hand, creating a flurry of wind around his hand, cutting Sinobu again.
Ashura then lifted Sinobu by his head, and manifested a immense whirlwind to strike him while he held him inside, he then threw Sinobu to the ground.
Ashura then dashed forward and proceeded to slash at Sinobu while moving forward. He finished by holding him up as blood continued to flow out, then slammed him to the ground by putting his hands on Sinobu's face in a cross, strangled him, then slammed him behind him.
Ashura proceeded to slash at Sinobu while moving forward, generating a whirlwind with each slash. He finished by holding him up as blood continued to flow out, then leaped up and smashed him into the ground. Sinobu was revealed to be defeated after the attack, Goenitz's soul left him and he regained his senses.
Ashura: Are you alright Sinobu?

Ashura: The one who channeled Goenitz's soul within you. He had disappeared.
Sinobu: How about one final match.
Ashura: Right.
The two of them began their fight once again.
[10 minutes later]
Ashura had defeated Sinobu very easily. He was now standing on a cliff, staring at the ocean.
Ashura: (Gustav, we will meet each other very soon. You have made Sinobu suffer and for that, you're gonna suffer. What should I do in the mean time?)
???: ASHURA!
Ashura turned around and got surprised when he saw Athena running towards him.
Ashura: What are you doing here Athena?
Athena: Am I not allowed to see how my friend is doing?
Ashura: You're worried about me, that's nice of you.
Athena: What are you doing on a cliff alone?
Ashura: I'm thinking about my next move. I have saved Sinobu and there is nothing interesting to do.
Athena: How about you hang out with me.
Ashura: Let's go then.
Athena: Right.
Athena started walking away, Ashura turned around and looked at the ocean once again before he turned around and followed Athena. Things were about to get interesting for Ashura.
