Chapter 5: A Day at Kennywood Park
The next day, I met up with Sarah, James, and Henri, as well as some of my other best friends Alex Russo, Justin Evans, and Max Greenwald at Kennywood Park. Alex's mom and Justin's dad even came along to supervise the trip. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. I ended up riding the Sky Rocket with Max, the Thunderbolt with Alex, the Phantom's Revenge with Justin, the Jack Rabbit with James, the Racer with Sarah, and the Exterminator with Henri. Other rides that we rode included the Black Widow, the Pittsburgh Plunge, the Whip, the Swingshot, the Wave Swinger, the Musik Express, the Cosmic Chaos, the Pirate, the Grand Prix, the Kangaroo, and the carousel. We finished off with dinner at the Midway Stand and dessert at the Pagoda Cafe in addition to watching high school bands perform in the Fall Fantasy Parade. "I still wish that we could have ridden the Steel Curtain, Max," Henri stated. "It was the ultimate coaster!" "Well, at least you tried, Henri," Max pointed out. "That's what matters." "Look, James!" Justin happily exclaimed. "I bought a picture of us on the Phantom's Revenge coaster." "And, I bought a picture of us on the Jack Rabbit coaster," James added. "How amazing is that, Justin?" "It's very amazing, all right," Justin replied. "I still wish that 98 Degrees would perform here one year," I told my friends. "It would be nice if they performed a concert here in Pittsburgh just like Carlos Santana did earlier this month." "Maybe someday they will, Angel," Alex told me. "After today, our planned summer outings are done for the year, and I am very sad about that! I hate to see the summer end!" "Can you think of something fun that you like to do all year round, Alex?" Sarah asked. "Of course, Sarah," Alex replied. "What about your birthday dinner in Station Square?" "That was actually my birthday dinner in Station Square," I pointed out. "Sarah and I split a delicious banana split that Kennywood's ice cream sundaes do not compete with." "Yes, that was a fun year to celebrate a birthday, all right!" Sarah agreed with me. "This almost reminds me of the last trip to Kennywood Park that we went on before Angel left for college at Edinboro University," Alex added. "It's hard to believe that that was 10 years ago," I pointed out. "I think that we are headed towards that dark and uneventful portion of my life." "Not necessarily, Angel," Sarah told me. "At least, my brace is off," Alex stated. "But, it is still not going to be the same without doing summer activities every week!" To cheer us up, we experienced a dual Childhood Chat, in which Sarah Ching discussed laying on her fuzzy pillow in Westmoreland County and Natalie Bay discussed having a Netflix binge session that same night. Madison Dayley discussed watching YouTube videos in Hampton Township and Rachel Luster discussed laying on her fuzzy pillow that same night. Julia Robison discussed listening to music in McCandless Township and Nicole Ellis discussed taking a selfie that same night. Elizabeth Mosh discussed spreading gossip in the southern suburbs and Jessica Linden discussed eating bagels for breakfast that same night. "Speaking of which, I am getting tired and need to listen to some calm, soothing music while laying my head down on a fuzzy pillow," Alex stated with a big yawn. "Well, I guess that we should go to bed as soon as we get home," Sarah stated. "Are you sure that you don't want to watch shows on Netflix or YouTube?" I asked Sarah. Sarah yawned really big. "No, I am too tired," Sarah replied. When we got back home from Kennywood, we went straight to bed for the night. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
