Prompt: Fireplace
Marinette grabbed the bottle from the smaller table — their second of the night — and filled the wine glasses half way before placing the bottle back down and looking over her shoulder.
Adrien was currently talking to the kwami's in front of the fireplace, resting back on one hand as the other draped perfectly over her knee. She couldn't believe, looking at him now, that he was her boyfriend. After years of idiocy from the both of them they'd finally pulled it together and they were here.
The evening had been perfect. After their first dance, then the next, and the next, Adrien had just about managed to save their meal from being burnt to the crisp, another entertaining story to add to their list. Once they'd managed to salvage the meal, they'd had a romantic evening talking and laughing over candle light enjoying the delicious food that both Tikki and Plagg refused to spill the details about where they'd gotten it from.
Two hours had flown by as quick as a flash and now they were chilling in front of the fireplace drinking wine and snuggling.
She was snuggling with Adrien Agreste.
Trying not to make a fool of herself anymore than what she already had over the past hours, Marinette slowly and steadily moved towards the fireplace and handed Adrien his glass. The two kwamis bid them both goodnight before flying off and into the bedroom, well at least that's where she thought they were going. Their previous whereabouts were still a mystery.
Marinette turned her attention back to Adrien, his smile was wide and looking as though he held the world in his hands. She'd never seen him so deliriously happy. His face was splitting from the wide smile and his eyes were glowing; she couldn't help but wonder if he'd look like this on their wedding day. Yes, she knew she was jumping ahead of herself but they were together now and she had no intentions of ever letting him go.
"Come here."
As Marinette began lowering herself to the floor, Adrien reached out and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her in towards him and settling her in his lap.
Since their mistletoe kiss (thank you Tikki and Plagg) Adrien had taken any opportunity to touch her. From placing his hands on her hips as they washed the dishes, to placing light kisses on her forehead as she walked past him to use the bathroom. And she loved every single second of it.
Steadying the wine glass in her hands, Marinette settled into her boyfriend's lap, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before placing her wine glass on the table behind them. He mimicked her actions before wrapping both arms tightly around her waist and pulling her into his body, his nose nuzzling into her neck and making her squirm.
"Adrien, stop! You're tickling me."
His throaty laugh vibrated through her neck as he swapped the nuzzles for small kisses instead. She wasn't going to make it out of this cabin alive.
"Adrien! Stop!"
"Never," he laughed, placing one last kiss on her cheek and resting his chin on her shoulder. They sat in utter bliss as they watched the fire crackle and pop in front of them; the warmth a wonderful feeling after their afternoon out in the cold.
"I'm glad we never made it to the resort," Marinette announced with a sigh, her body naturally relaxing back into Adrien's.
"And I'm glad you have ridiculously unsuitable boots for this type of weather."
"Hey!" Marinette announced, turning her head to look at his wild, smiling face. "You love my boots! Don't deny it."
"I do love them, almost as much as I love you."
Marinette turned her head and they found themselves connecting once more. Their simple act of love felt so natural after the long and awkward journey to get there – and that wasn't just Adrien's driving.
"I don't want to go home," Marinette said, resting her head onto his and trying to control the impossibly rapid beat of her heart. Was this how it was going to be from now on? Her body was on the verge of spontaneous combustion every time he kissed her.
"Then let's not… not yet anyway. Let's tell the others we're still trapped and then take the long way home. Forget using a navigation system, we'll wing it."
"Wing it? Come on, Kitty, you know as well as I do neither of us have a great sense of direction." Marinette laughed, turning herself around and kneeling in between Adrien's legs. She placed her arms over his shoulders and began to play with the hair at the nape of his neck.
"Are you trying to seduce me, M'Lady?"
"Me?" She smiled. "Never."
"That's a shame really," Adrien sighed, moving his own hands onto her lower back. Then lower. And lower.
Is he trying to touch my ass? The sudden thought had her face illuminating brighter than the Eiffel Tower, and from the look on Adrien's face – the smug expression he was wearing – he'd got her exactly where he wanted. His hands shifted back up her body and she didn't know if she was relieved or upset.
He moved his head forward and whispered into her ear, his breath warm and sending an unorthodox amount of shivers down her spine. "I like the idea of you seducing me."
Adrien pressed a kiss behind her ear then trailed them down her neck, kissing the length with slow and calculated brushes of his lips. She couldn't help how her head swayed to the opposite side, opening herself up for him and allowing him to place his ministrations on her. She closed her eyes, lost in the moment, opening her vulnerability up to Adrien.
"Is this okay?" he whispered, moving his lips from her neck and kissing her ear once more.
"Yeah."
Marinette closed her eyes again, Adrien going back to what he was previously doing, only this time giving the opposite side of her neck some attention. She was in heaven. The feelings, the touches, the kisses, the tickly nose… what? That can't be right.
As Adrien continued to kiss her the feeling in her nose was becoming unbearable. She scrunched her face attempting a bunny nose wiggle to get rid of it, but it wasn't going and now it was burning her eyes. Marinette could feel them begin to water and closed them quickly to try and ease the pain, only for it to intensify the feeling in her nose.
Her attention flew away from what Adrien was doing to her, his sweet caresses and tender kisses. She had no idea what he was doing now because all she could think about was the way her senses were suddenly being attacked. Was she allergic to kissing Adrien? They'd been kissing for a couple of hours now, obviously if she was allergic to him this would have happened an hour or more ago?
The itching intensified again and now everything was just getting more and more painful. What was the word you had to say to stop sneezing? Cabbages.
She began to mutter the word over and over again, the itching easing off along with Adrien's kisses.
"Are you - are you saying cabbages?" he quizzed and she knew he was looking at her.
This would be the moment he regretted his choice and walked away from her because who would want a crazy girl who was wiggling her nose and muttering cabbages under her breath.
"Marinette? Are you okay? Your face has gone a little weird."
She opened her eyes, the brightness of the lamp in front of her doing nothing for the feeling and unfortunately causing her to unleash the demons within – and out of her nose.
Just in time, Marinette turned her head, directing the sneeze in a direction away from Adrien.
"I'm so - so - so sor– sor– sorry." The words were cut short as another vicious sneeze left her nose and mouth, her elbow coming up to block it just in time. Another two sneezes followed in quick succession, only to be raised by the chest rattling cough which followed.
"Ok, Princess, let's get you to bed, you're sick."
"No, I'm fine. I want to stay here with – achoo."
Adrien laughed, standing up and bending down to scoop Marinette into his arms.
"What are you – achoo – achoo."
"Oooo a double sneeze, how fancy!" Adrien said.
Marinette slapped him on the arm before setting off another couple of sneezes and a chesty cough.
"Time for bed."
"Will you stay with me?" Marinette said, her body suddenly losing all the energy she had left.
"Of course, though I can't see us having much sleep tonight."
"I'm so sorry, Adrien. I had big plans for tonight." Marinette climbed into bed with her dress and heels still on, Adrien moving to relieve her of her footwear, before finding her pyjamas in the dresser. He slid them to her offering to go and get her a warm drink as she got changed.
Agreeing, Adrien left the room and Marinette clumsy moved out of her dress and into the long bottoms and top. They were warm and comfortable, and completely Chat Noir themed, not at all the way she expected the evening to go. Her matching underwear set out in the bathroom just in case.
She snuggled into their bed, moving herself into the middle and cuddling onto Adrien's pillow. It smelt just like him, and Marinette knew on their return home she was going to struggle being apart from him. Everything just worked between them, her life finally feeling light and wonderful – the way it should be.
Marinette continued to get herself warm under the cool covers, forgetting the white box was still on the bed. A white box which, in her sleep, had been pushed to Adrien's side. The white box which wasn't exactly empty.
