Chapter 1: Humble beginnings

It's a bright summer morning in Pallet Town and a very special occasion for the Ketchum triplets Drake, Ash, and Kyra. Their mother Delia woke up early as usual to prepare for the occasion. Speaking of the triplets, Drake Ketchum, the oldest one by two minutes is a child of few words, just like his father. He prefers to study in silence, spending his time to plan out his first journey which was still five years away.

Unlike his older brother Ash Ketchum was a fun loving happy-go-lucky boy. He has a special gift, which allowed him to communicate with Pokemon. So he loved to spend his time in the ranch and forest playing with them all day long.

However their younger sister Kyra Ketchum was a mix between the two brothers who loves to study Pokemon. Kyra also follows Ash around the ranch and the forest since she loves Pokemon so much, she interacts with them any chance she gets. You see like Ash Kyra has a special gift to that she can communicate with Pokemon just like her brother.

Their father, the Legendary Red Ketchum. Starting his journey about fifth teen years earlier, at the age of fifteen, Red won the Pokemon League in his first attempt, beating his rival, and friend Blue. After serving as the champion for a decade, he gave the throne after the birth of his sons and daughter. However he continued to stay away from home, much to the dismay of his children, to train; or so he is told.

But today he was coming back, to celebrate his children's birthday. And he knew the right gift for his boys. As for his daughter's gift a strange thing happened to him when he was traveling he met a strange women name Vlariana and her Pokemon Chatot named Leander she was a one armed old women. As she gave him 12 colorful Pokeballs that he never seen before the blue one that had a heart symbol on it. Which made Red smiled since she found the perfect girt for his daughter. He spent months trying to find them, and now he has them, right in his back.

"Charizard let's go home!" Red said to his partner, summoning it from his Pokeball. The flame Pokemon agrees and crouches a little for the man to mount on his back.

With a mighty roar the fire lizard takes off leaving a powerful gust of wind behind.

"Drake! Ash! Kyra! You both better wake up!" The kids heard there mother downstairs.

After while the children exited their rooms in their PJ's. Drake walk calmly, but being the excited Aipom he was, Ash jumped on the stairs and sliding through it he landed with a backflip. Kyra slowly walked towards her her older brother Drake. When she sees her older brother Ash backflip Kyra was shocked by his behavior.

"Ash Ketchum! Is this how you behave in this house?" The brunette scolded her son as Drake and Kyra made their way to the breakfast table.

"I'm sorry mom! But daddy's coming back today for our birthday! I'm just so happy!" The raven haired boy replied. Mareepishly, beginning to run around in excitement.

"Honey, calm down for a moment, and go have your breakfast with your brother and sister." Delia pleaded.

"Okay Mommy!" Ash replied with a toothy grin, as he ran over to the dinning table. He took his seat next to his brother and sister as he began gulping like a Gulpin.

After they finished their breakfast, Delia came over to her sons and daughter, then gave them a sweet hug. "Happy Birthday kids."

"Thank you mom." They all replied happily. Delia then crouch down to their level. "Now listen you three, go outside and have fun until your dad comes back okay? He's got special gifts for all three of you.

While Drake seemed to take it neutrally, Ash and Kyra got excited. "He does?" "I wonder what he got us?" "Yay!" "Hooray!" Ash and Kyra squealed before both of them running off out of the house. Drake quietly took a book on the Sinnoh Legends and walked out to the backyard to read in peace.

Red's Charizard let out a mighty roar as it began to descend to the backyard of his home.

"Thank you Charizard, now let's go to the lab and take a good rest." He said to his starter, who flew off to the hill. He watched his boy and girl who came up hugging him happily.

"Daddy! I missed you!" The older twin expressed happily. "Welcome home Daddy!" Kyra said happily. Red reciprocated the hug with his smile on his face. "I missed you too Drake and Kyra. Now where's is your brother?" He asked. Drake frowned for a moment while Kyra smiled, before Ash entered the backyard. "Hey Daddy!! Your back!!!" He squealed, tackling the big man with a hug. "I missed you so so so so much!" He continued in his excited voice.

"I missed you too Ash. Now tell me, you haven't been troubling your mom are you?" He asked.

"Of course not! I'm just having a lot of fun!!" Ash declared happily. "What about what happened with mom this morning when she scolded you for doing a backflip this morning." Kyra said mischievously. Drake smirked at Ash's reaction. "Kyra not when Dad's here!!" Ash scolded.

Red sighed before bringing his two sons and daughter closer, keeping a hand on each on the boy's shoulders while Kyra is between her older brothers. "Now you three, I wish you a happy birthday kids."

"Thanks Dad." Drake said calmly.

"We really appreciate it Dad." Kyra said.

"Dad! Mom said you brought special gifts for us? Can you show us? Is it a Pokemon League hat? Is it a…" Ash asked excitedly, before Red cut him off." There there little one. You need to learn some patience from your big brother and your younger sister here.

Ash pouted, Drake smirked, Kyra just smiled at the scene and Red chuckled." Now let's go in and see your mom first kay? Then I'll give you your gifts.

"Really? Yay! So cool!" Ash squealed, jumping his way back into the home. Drake moved behind silently, while Red stood outside and took a deep breath. "sighed it's been a while." Before he walked into the place.

Delia was working in the kitchen when two strong arms hugging her back. She instantly knew it was her husband. Turning around she swiftly smashed her lips into his, as the boys picked, Kyra awe at the scene.

"Yuck!" The brothers said.

"Hey! You three shouldn't intrude on anyone like that!" Red complained. "And even if you do, then don't make noise!"

"Whatever you say dad!" Drake said unamused tone.

"Sorry Dad." Kyra said apologetically.

"Dad! Can we have our gifts now? Please?" Ash pleaded.

"Of course Sweat pea. Now let's get your gifts." The former champion said as he walked to his bag. Taking out two hats one is an exact copy of his cap he gave it to Drake since he idolized him. As for Ash it was a League cap that is red and white that had a green mark on the front of it.

"Drake. This is for you. It might be big on you now but when you get older you'll be able to wear it on your journey."

Drake continued to stare at his hat with the utmost interest.

"Thank you Dad! This is the best gift ever!" He replied with a glint of excitement.

"Wow! That's so cool Drake! You got a hat just like Daddy's hat! Now it's my turn dad!" Ash spreading his arms happily.

"Yeah Ash." The man replied, taking a Kanto League hat out. "Here you go little one…"

"I can't wait to wear it when I go on my journey!" Ash cutting his dad off.

"Hold you Rapidashes Ash." Red replied to calm the Aipom down. "Now, yes. I know your excited on going on your journey. But you'll have to wait five more years."

"Okay." Ash said with a sullen face, while Drake and Kyra maintained a neutral one.

"Now, for you my little one. It's a little bit different then the ones I gave to your brothers. In fact an old merchant gave me these. As Red took out a box that is wrapped up in a sky blue wrapping paper and a red ribbon. It didn't take Kyra long to unwrap her gift in it were 12 colorful Pokeballs with symbols on them. The first one is a blue one with a heart symbol on it. The second one is a pink one with a fist symbol on it. The third one is a lime green color one with a brain symbol on it. The fourth one is a red color one with a circle and a six star symbol on it. The fifth one is an orange color one with a gear symbol on it. The sixth one is a yellow with a person on it that is doing a fighting move. The seventh one is a green color with a dagger symbol on it. The eights one is a pink and red color one with a crown on it. The ninth one is a scarlet color with two sword symbols intersecting each other. The tenth's one is a crimson color with a shield symbol with a heart on it. The eleven's one is a black color with two shields on it. The twelfth and last pokeball is a gold color with a cloud symbol on it. Kyra looked at them with such interest. "These are beautiful daddy, thank you!" Kyra said with appreciation.

Fast forward two years:

It's been two years since Red gave the boys their hats and Kyra her colorful Pokeballs. In the two year span Drake had become cold and distant to his brother and sister. At that time Ash and Kyra grew to hate their father. They do treasure the gifts that their father had given them on their fifth birthday.

Today they were going to Professor Oak's summer camp. This was an annual routine and the boys along side their sister Kyra enjoyed it every year This was going to be their final camp, since it was only ages 4-7. Ash and Kyra were going to make the most of it.

"Hey there Ashy Boy, Kyra girl, and Drake!" The Mahogany haired boy greeted them, before turning to Ash and Kyra. This camp is for those who wanna be serious Pokemon trainers."

"We'll see when we compete in the Indigo League." Ash said.

"Yeah, Gary I hope your getting ready to lose." Kyra said.

"Ah, we'll just see if you two can earn all eight badges and make it to the league first." Gary countered.

"Alright everyone fall back into the group!" Daisy Oak called out in the distance, as the Pallet six walked back to the lab, with Ash and Gary neck and neck, literally.

"Alright boys. You better cool your jets right now!" The older girl chided them.

"Okay Daisy" Ash replied with his cute charm.

"Aww, now how can I be angry with that cute face of yours?" Daisy said, while Gary cringed.

"Alright everyone, today's the first day of our long week long summer camp. I am Samuel Oak, and I'll be hosting you for the next week. I hope you will all have a wonderful experience, and that this will help you out when you go out on your journeys in the next few years." The Professor explained. "Now why don't you all go explore the ranch and look at all the Pokemon around?"

"Alright! This is going to be so much fun!" Ash declared enthusiastically.

"Yeah! I want to go and see the Pokemon!" Kyra shouted.

"Ugh, there they go again." Drake scowled, as he watched his brother and sister run into the forest. As he stayed at the lab and picked up a book. "Well, I stay and get some studying in.

Ash and Kyra continued to venture into the forest. A particular feline Pokemon was watching all this form over and giggling to itself.

It quickly flew to the ground and transformed into a Poliwag, and jumped in front of the unsuspecting boy and girl.

"Huh? Oh wow a Poliwag!" Ash squealed happily.

"Ash, let's go follow it!" Kyra said excitedly.

The Pokemon gave a smile, before it began hopping out of the area on its tiny foot.

"Hey! Wait for me!" Ash screamed out to it, following it into the bushes. Kyra excitedly followed after her older brother and Poliwag.

A young girl dressed in a pink dress, adoring the straw hat, walked into the forest trembling with fear as she was lost.

"Where is everybody? Where did you all go? She called out in fear.

The bushes continued to rumble, which startled the little girl. She jumped and fell down, scraping her knee, while a Poliwag jumped out of the bushes.

Scared and anxious, tears began to form in her eyes. "I knew I didn't want to come to camp! I knew it!" She said through sobs in her Kalos accent. "Mommy!!!" She screamed out to her mother.

In a few moments, the bushes rumbled again, causing another stream of tears to roll out of her eyes.

She clenched her eyes in fear, trying her best to not look over the bushes.

"Poliwag?" "Where are you Poliwag?" A boy and girl asked. She opened her eyes to see a boy and girl of her own age walk out of the bushes.

The boy and girl looked at her with confusion on their faces. "Are you alright…?" "Are you hurt?" They asked nervously and in concern.

The girl couldn't give any answer as she was still sobbing.

"Hi, I'm Kyra." The girl introduced to her first as she smiled at her.

"Hello, I'm Ash." The boy introduced himself cheerfully.

"Who are you?" They said together.

"I… I'm Serena" She replied in a whimper.

"Why are you crying?" Kyra asked with concern.

"Huh? What's wrong?" Ash asked, trying to figure out why this girl was crying.

"I… hurt my… leg" Serena managed to reply through her tears.

"Hey no need to worry." Ash replied. "You'll be okay." Kyra replied, getting on to their knees as Kyra brought out her hankerchief as she gave it Ash. "See this? This will make it better!" The boy declared before tying the piece of cloth on her knee. " All done!" He said with widest grin. Kyra smiled gently at Serena.

Serena tried to move her leg, but it still her. But Ash and Kya got her attention again, to give her relief. "Now watch this!" He and Kyra moved their hands around the knee, like performing a magic spell. "Feel better! Feel better!! RIGHT AWAY!!!" Both Ash and Kyra said together.

For a moment Serena watched them curiously, forgetting all the pain.

"Ah! It still hurts! I can't stand up." The Honey Blond hair girl replied.

Ash and Kyra got up to their feet and extend their arms to her.

"Don't worry Serena I got you." Kyra reassured Serena.

"Don't give up till it's over! 'kay? Come on!"

Serena hesitantly forwarded her hand slightly, Ash and Kyra took her hands into their's. Ash pulled her with all his might, as she got up Kyra fell down while Serena hugged him.

"Ouch." Kyra said as she fell.

At that moment she felt a warm feeling inside herself, the embrace felt really good and she just wanted to stay like that.

"Oh Ash you'r so lovely, sweet and amazing! You're going to be my bestest friend ever! You'r just amazing! My knight in shining armor!" Serena thought to herself as a blush formed on her face, as she continues to fantasize Ash dressed up in medieval armor, helping her, the princess, after saving her life. Oh it was so romantic.

"Ahem." Kyra cleared her throat as she got up on the floor. Ash and Serena sees Kyra's unamused face.

Breaking the hug, Ash gave her the goofiest grin she'd ever seen. "There here you go! C'mon, I think we should be getting back to the campsite!" He said, continuing to hold her hand in his palms. "Yeah let's before the Professor worries." Kyra said eagerly.

"All right Serena, now let's get back!" Kyra said, as she and Ash guided her by their arms while the Poliwag transformed back into its original feline form and giggled joyfully.

"Hello Professor." A brunette lady called out to the Professor.

"Ah! Ms. Yvonne. Allow me to welcome you to Pallet town, I hope you didn't have issues with moving in." The Professor greeted her.

"Yes Professor, we didn't have any issues with that." Grace replied. "I just want to thank you, for inviting my daughter to this camp. She's really a shy kid. She didn't even have too many friends back in Kalos."

"Ah. Serena right?" The Professor asked and the mother nodded. "Well, she's a lovely girl, I'm sure she'll make good friends in this camp."

Just then Ash and Kyra walked out of the forest with Serena's hands in their palm. Looking at her mother, the honey blonde ran to her and gave her the biggest hug she could.

"Mommy. I was so scared." She said in a sad tone.

"It's okay honey. Everything will be just fine. Now why don't you tell me what's wrong?" Grace said, crouching down to her daughter's level.

"I…fell down and hurt my knee, and then… and then this Pokemon jumped out of the bushes… I was so scared. And then Ash and Kyra came in and helped me out." Serena croaker out.

"Oh dear." The brunette said, pulling her daughter into an embrace. She then turned to Ash and Kyra. "Thank you for helping my daughter Ash and Kyra."

"It was nothing. I just did what I had to do." The raven haired boy replied with a toothy grin.

"We did it because it was the right thing to do." The red haired girl replied.

"Now Ash and Kyra, why don't you two take Serena along with you? You two could introduce her to the Pokemon in the ranch." Professor Oak suggested.

"You don't mind?" Ash asked excitedly.

"You sure it's okay?" Kyra asked.

"Mhm… I'm sure this would be a wonderful experience for her." The Professor replied.

"You hear that Serena? Ash asked her, brimming with excitement. She stared at him and Kyra for a moment, before they pulled her along. "Let's go! I'll show you lots and lots of Pokemon! We'll have so much fun!"

And the three friends disappeared in the vast ranch.

"Are you sure it's okay Professor?" Grace asked, fearing her daughter's safety.

"Don't you worry." Ash and Kyra come here regularly and all the Pokemon are really friendly with him, even the big ones." Professor shrugged it off.

The kids spent the entire camp playing around with Pokemon and learning all bout how to take care of them. Throughout the entire camp Serena stuck by the brother and sister duo, and finally it came to an end.

Ash and Kyra continued to spend his time with Serena. While Serena would stare at Ash in admiration. Kyra smirked at this.

And now in a few days, after Ash's, Drake's, and Kyra's tenth birthday, they'd all be starting their first Pokemon journey. One night the sky was lit in a rainbow color whil Kyra's pokeball glowed just like the sky. She wondered why the sky and Pokeballs glowed. Maybe their connected she thought as she looked at the sky.
