Chapter 2 Preparing for the Future
A.N. – So, this chapter kinda sets the groundwork for the next chapter. This chapter will center around Xana more than the Lyoko Warriors or Skynet. So, let's begin!
Short Summary – Xana realizes Skynet can destroy humanity and will destroy him if it detects him in cyberspace once it's unleashed. He knows that the Lyoko Warriors won't help him. He has possible allies that can help him, but he has to get rid of the warriors first.

Xana sat in cyberspace in complete silence. He was still complementing the fact that something more powerful than him could destroy humanity in a blink of the eye. The one thing he didn't know, was the extent that the scientist were gonna use Skynet. He started running through possibilities to destroy Skynet before its release. Every possibility ended the same way, he would die by the Lyoko Warriors, and humanity was next. One succeeded, the only difference…the Lyoko Warriors were removed from the equation.
"If I am to stop this Skynet, I'm going to have to tie up all loose ends. But I also need allies and these four will do, but I need time" Xana said pulling up the pictures of the children of the warriors.
Years passed, and each year, Skynet got more advanced, and more machines were added to the arsenal of Skynet's defense system. Xana monitored Skynet's process very closely. With each passing day, the self-awareness programming within it grew. It would not be long before Skynet would wreak havoc.
The children all grew up and were now able to fight along side him to destroy Skynet. He started to match the children to the avatars of the warriors. He found combinations that fit perfectly. All he needed now was their trust.
"All is in place to takedown Skynet. But first, I need the children. So, it's time for the warriors to go."
Xana started planning how to end the warriors.
First on Xana's list was the brains of the operation: Jeremy. He was too smart and if Xana made any noise, he would alert the others in a heartbeat. He knew eliminating him would slow the others down. He activated a tower on the new cortex and hid his signal from both Jeremy and Tyron.
Jeremy was currently working in his lab when Xana appeared in a remote area. He needed Jeremy's death to look like an accident to avoid suspicion. He headed up to his boss's office and decided to do something.
"Hello sir. I need to speak with one of your employees, Jeremy Belpois" Xana told the man.
"Why I ask?" the boss asked.
"I want to look at his workplace. I am fabricating a new system and I need help with the physics system. I looked for top programmers and his name came up."
"For what?"
"Skynet. The new defense system. We need some knowledge behind it and none of my advisors can figure it out, so we are getting some outside help."
The boss knew of Skynet's existence as it was only a month till its release to the public. He told him where Jeremy's station was, and Xana stood up.
"Oh, one more thing, I don't need you saying anything" Xana shot lightning at him, knocking him out. He headed out to Jeremy's station.
As Xana walked through the company, he saw all the impressive cyber work. This was almost like a heaven to him. But he knew that if Skynet could gain control of this, it would move too fast for anyone to stop. He found Jeremy's station and approached him.
"Excuse me, are you Jeremy Belpois?" Xana asked him.
"Yes, who are you?" Jeremy responds.
"Someone who needs some information."
"About what?"
"Two things. One I want to see your workstation."
"Oh, here it is. I am currently working on a new quantum physics system to improve AI creation."
"That leads to point two," Xana puts his hand on the machine and starts to overload it. "You know of Skynet?"
"Yeah, but I doubt it will last long. I dealt with an AI with self-awareness and stopped it. Hopefully those cyber research fools will stop it soon."
"You see son, that ain't going to happen. Skynet will rise and knowing your past as well as I do, you stand in my way."
"Xana!"
"Hello and goodbye forever," Xana smiled as the machine exploded, killing Jeremy. "One down, four to go."
Aelita would soon notice her husband was dead, so he decided to end her next. He couldn't believe he was about to take out his favorite target on Lyoko. It was almost too good to be true. He entered the studio that she was working at. Inside he saw all the gold records that artists have made inside the studio before moving.
"This place is pretty popular for producing new and upcoming artists."
How to make Aelita's death look like an accident was a little complicated. He decided to shock her to make it look like an electrical issue killed her. He found her in the recording booth, preparing for the next recording session.
He knocked on the glass and Aelita looked at him. "Hello, are you Aelita?" Aelita looked at him and he couldn't hear her. She started motioning to press the button. He pressed it.
"There, can you hear me?" she asked.
"Yes, what about me?"
"Same. What do you want?"
"I want to become a studio recorder for my friend, and I need to know how these machines work, so I don't mess my friend's recording session. I heard about this studio, and it said you were in today."
Aelita came out. Xana observed her new look. 'She has changed in the years. She's not the 14-year-old I hunted years ago' he thought.
"Well, I'll be happy to help. Sit down" she said as she pulled out a chair. She sat next to him and started to go over all the controls. Aelita explained one that would definitely assist him.
"How about you give me a demonstration so I can see it in action?" Xana asked her. She went into the booth. The music started and Xana stopped it halfway through. "Aelita, Aelita, you always had tastes deferent from your friends."
"How do you know me or my friends?"
"I know a lot about you, my girl. I always imagined how it would all end. Mean old Tyron almost spoiled my fun. And you and your father spoiled a long time ago until I came back for vengeance."
"Oh no Xana!"
"If you think about calling Jeremy, forgot about it. I already ended him. Time for my favorite target to die." He sent an electric charge through they system that traveled so fast into Aelita's headphones which sent enough volts to kill her. She immediately fell limp and died on the spot. "Two down, only three remain."
Next was to take down Ulrich and Yumi. Xana had a plan for Yumi, but as for Ulrich, how to kill him was a question. When he visited where they stayed, he saw that neither one of them was there. He then decided to look at the martial arts studio that Yumi owned for a possible lead. Luckily for him, they were both there. He confronted them.
"Hello, I hear this is a successful martial arts studio. I am looking for one for a couple of my students" Xana told them.
"Talk to her. She owns the place" Ulrich told him.
"Well, we have a pretty expensive fee for renting" Yumi tells him.
"I have an idea on how we can come to an agreement. Two on one. You two against me. If I win, I get to use this place for free. If you win, I pay double the rent" Xana says to her, knowing he would win easily.
"Oh, you're on" Yumi says taking the challenge.
Ulrich, Yumi, and Xana all take their respective spots. Yumi takes the first attack and Xana dodges and blocks all her attacks.
"You're pretty good" Yumi says to him.
"I am just as if not more skilled then you in martial arts," Xana responds. With Xana now distracted, Ulrich tried to take him out from behind. He ducked and had him hit Yumi. "You know, it's not nice to attack people from behind."
Ulrich then turned around and tried to attack him and Xana did the same thing he did with Yumi. He then grabbed Ulrich's wrists and started to twist it with ease.
"Who are you?" Ulrich asks.
"Your worst nightmare," Xana says as he punches Ulrich with such force that the force of impact kills him. He then walks over to Yumi. Xana was able to fell her pulse, but she was weak. He was all for a mercy killing, but then it would look like murder more than an accident. In order to do that he implemented an electrical shock that was just lethal enough. "Just one more."
Xana went the place where Odd worked knowing that he would show up there. He sent him a fake email telling him that he would not deny the offer. Odd then opened the door and walked in and saw Xana sitting in a chair. He spun around to face Odd.
"Are you the guy who contacted me?" Odd asks.
"Yes, but we have a more serious problem to discuss" Xana tells him.
"Which is?"
"Skynet. How old is you child?"
"She's 13. And a handful too."
"You wife, must not be with her for a month."
"Why?"
"Skynet is rising soon. I need all four of the children."
"Who are you really?"
Xana created sparks with his hands. "Remember me now?"
"But…you're…supposed to be…"
"Dead? Maybe deactivated, but Tyron brought me back. I have a problem with this Skynet and your race will too."
"Why should I listen to you?"
"Because the coming of Skynet means the end of humanity. If I have all of your children, I can train them quickly enough to help get rid of Skynet."
"So you can take its place?"
"I never wanted to kill all of humanity, just enslave it. Skynet will kill and kill without remorse of thinking twice, even with self-awareness. I've seen its coding. The self-awareness grows every day, and the day of its release will be judgement day and knowing you race, you won't be ready for what's coming." Odd started to think with concern for the safety of him and Melissa as well as their daughter. "Just tell your wife, one month, and she will be returned. Once Skynet is destroyed, the world will be saved."
"I'll tell her" Odd said as he called his wife. "Melissa, listen, some guy that I know is gonna come by and pick up our girl. He says that he wants to teach her something for about one month, but he promises she will be returned safely. Trust me on this." Odd hung up. "She will do it."
"One more thing. I have something that I need, and I know you stand in my way." Xana shocked him to kill him. "So, you can't be alive no more."
Xana then gathered all the children and then he appeared before them.
"Welcome to my little group of resistance fighters. I specifically choose you four because you are directly linked to the former Lyoko Warriors. So, you four will be perfect for my job."
"Why should we listen to you?" Jim asks.
"Yeah, you just picked us up" his sister Yuki added.
"Because if you don't help me, you'll all die at the hands of Skynet. Skynet is still not powerful enough, but once it becomes active, everything you know will be gone. I'll train you and within a few weeks, we'll take down Skynet."
"What do you want in return?" Kiki asks
"To be ruler of this planet. No one will die and everyone will live a normal kind of life as long as everyone behaves as they should. You want to see your friends? And others you know, you need to help me. This is your one and only chance." They all joined Xana knowing that the fate of humanity was more important then arguing about this issue. "We only got a short time to stop Skynet before its release. So, let's get started."
