Chapter 5 Back to the Past
A.N. – So, this will be the end of the second timeline. It was short-lived, but the final and revised timeline will be longer. Since this is only 5(6) chapters long, part II will be part of this as well. Let's begin!
Short Summary – After planning a way to infiltrate Skynet, the human resistance moves on a direct attack on Skynet. They then plan to send Erin and Erina back to the past to stop Skynet, but Skynet has other plans in mind for both.

It was currently night as John and the twins were planning an attack directly at Skynet. But even at nighttime, the AI doesn't sleep. A few T-800's move towards a batch of the human resistance, each side firing rapidly. The human resistance holds its ground as the terminators continue to move. Just as they were about to reach where they were held up, all of them were defeated.
"More scouts. Hope John found a way to send those two back before Skynet sends an army after us" a soldier said.
John laid out a map he obtained from a raid a few years back. He also laid out the blueprints of the machine Skynet used to send his machines back in time.
"This machine is what allows Skynet to send his bots back in time. One was sent after my mom, and two were sent back. One to protect me, and one to kill me. This facility right here is where Skynet houses the machine. When I obtained this map, we immediately started to move this way. If we can capture this facility, we can hold the fort here and send you back to change all our futures" John explained to the twins.
"What were the original plans?" Erin asked.
"Still capture it, but if we did, we could stop Skynet from sending anything else back in time. It would allow us to stop it faster, but we never made it. We tried, but Skynet was waiting for us."
"How will this raid be any different?" Erina asks.
"Hopefully, this time we'll catch Skynet off guard as it is regrouping. It sends scouts out every couple of hours. We move as soon as the raid ends. If we move quickly enough, Skynet won't have the time to put up an effective resistance to stop us."
"Connors, we just dealt with a team of four T-800 scouts" a soldier reports.
"Okay then, gather up everybody, we're moving on Skynet."
"Hold on! Right now?!" Erin asks, a little surprised.
"Well yes. Skynet is currently regrouping. We got about four hours before another team is ready. Plus, I want to get you out of here before something happens to you."
John knew the longer they stayed in the warzone, the more chance Skynet could get to kill them both, killing any hopes of ending this nightmare.
A team of 10 soldiers leads the human resistance with John and the twins behind them and the rest of the team holding up the rear. The whole distance between the base and Skynet's facility was a desolate wasteland covered in human skulls, bones and destroyed terminators.
"How many did Skynet kill in Judgement Day?" Erina asks John.
"Unknown, but based on what everybody has told me, probably millions. How did you end up here in the US anyway?" John answers.
"We are unsure. We were supposed to reappear in Paris, but the portal dropped us here."
"Maybe your device is tied to life signals. And we are probably the only ones left. Which means, everyone you knew from your future that you came from is dead."
Erin and Erina's faces lost all expression as the thought of their parents being dead again happened. They were supposed to save them, but instead they just brought them another demise.
"Then how did you find out about our father's notes?" Erin asks.
"It somehow ended up in Skynet's hands. During one of the raids, we had access to a terminal it was using and collected a bunch of notes. We got his whole diary and once we found out that Xana could have been our savior, we were all depressed. This whole war could have been prevented."
With only a few hours left till Skynet's regroup was complete, the human resistance reached Skynet's base. The resistance set up a temporary base to plan the raid on Skynet. Once everything was ready, John gave a final briefing.
"Okay everybody, this will be the final battle. Skynet will meet an end today once the twins make it through to the past. Let's go out triumphantly!" Everyone yelled at this comment. John turned around and faced the base. "For humanity! For everyone! Let's do this!" The human resistance rushed in to take down Skynet one last time.
The human resistance all rushed towards the entrance. One of them planted a bomb on the door and took cover before blowing it up. The explosion got the terminator guards to turn their heads and a bunch of soldiers came out of the black smoke emerging from the hole.
"Leave nothing alive! If it shoots, you kill it!" John ordered his men.
High-tech gunfire was exchanged between both sides. John and the twins moved towards the site where the machine was to secure it. A few soldiers went to where Skynet was manufacturing the terminators and went to shut it down. When all of the terminator guards were dead, the soldiers moved to where John and the twins were.
"Let's go! We got to assist John!"
John kicked the door open to the facility and found it deserted. The twins were gonna move in, but John put bis arm out to stop them. He didn't trust that it was left unprotected and knew this could be a trap. The others rushed over to them.
"Sir," one said.
"You got something to flank somebody?" John asked.
"I got a flash grenade."
"That will do."
The soldier activated the grenade and tossed into the room. The terminators emerged out of hiding to investigate. The grenade went off, temporarily blinding the terminators. When their sight sensors were regained, the last image was of John and the soldiers, two feet in their face. He and his men tore the heads off of them, disabling them permanently. As John and the twins moved up to the machine, they heard a nearby explosion.
"That would be the facility. It's over. We won this fight," John told the men that were with him. He then took the twins to discuss how this was gonna play out. "Okay, first thing you have to do is strip down."
Both of them were in shock. "What?! Why!?" Erina asks.
"This machine can only send you in organic matter, that being the skin of a human. If you are fully clothed, the clothes could fuse to your body during transfer and be permanently stuck to you. Trust me, everyone before you had to do it. Second, you have to stand in the center in order to be sent. Any body part left out of the sphere could be disconnected which is basically like a very painful amputation. Don't want that. Third, you will reappear somewhere randomly in Paris at the time I select, so don't be surprised if you end up in a busy area."
"You can't choose something more secluded?" Erin asks.
"I can only select the time period, not the place. The only thing I can insure is that you will appear in Paris, exactly six months before Xana's destruction. That should give you enough time to convince your parents, friends, and Xana to fight Skynet and prevent Judgement Day. Oh, and one more thing. After I send you, me and my men will move out so Skynet may come back and send some "friends" after you. Be careful. These terminators can take on the form of anybody in your world, so trust no one because it could be watching you. Now, head into the back room and get ready for transfer. I'll prepare the device."
Erin and Erina went into a room and stripped down to nothing.
"You know, I never thought the first one to see me like this would be my brother" Erina said.
"Same," Erin responded. "Listen, when we reappear in the past, we need to stick together. Hopefully, we reappear in a place that isn't highly populated. But if you are too scared, just follow me. I'll keep you safe."
With the first step done the two twins went back to the main area and stepped into the center.
"Remember, Xana is the key to our survival. Keep him alive at all costs" John reminded them.
The machine started up and the transfer began. Just as the twins were about to be transported, something appeared behind John.
"John, behind you!" Erina warned him.
"Don't think it would be easy as you thought John" a strange man said grabbing him.
All of John's men aimed at the strange figure. "Kill him if you can. This thing is Skynet" John said as Skynet held a tight grip on him.
The twins were transported away before they could learn the fate of John…
End of the Second Timeline
