A month after this encounter, George entered his favourite Malaysian restaurant, Mamak on Goulburn Street. He was sat next to two ladies who looked oddly familiar to him.
"Lizzy, you must come to the gallery with me for the Matisse exhibition. I need a wingman for this date!", the redhead told the brunette.
"Charlie, I need some time. I'm still feeling vulnerable after last month", said the brunette, sighing.
The redhead noticed George staring at them for quite some time. His face looked familiar and she and realised who he was.
"You were at RPA that night", Charlotte said to George almost accusingly.
"Yes, I was there. Are you feeling better Miss...?", responded George.
Lizzy turned around and noticed George for the first time. He had kind eyes and a concerned look on his face.
"Elizabeth Bennet. Call me Lizzy." She offered her hand to him.
"George. George Chen." He shook her hand.
Their fingers met and their touch jolted them both. They stared at each other. Conversation firstly flowed awkwardly, embarrassingly and blushingly as Lizzy asked about what happened at the ward.
Lizzy's friend Charlotte rolled her eyes... it was going to be a hard time convincing Lizzy to come along with her. The attraction between the two was unmissable.
From then on, both George and Lizzy became rather inseparable. Their friendship, then relationship lasted eighteen memorable months until tragedy struck.
