Chapter 12 Come Undone (Finale)
A.N. – Finale time! The final between Future John and Skynet and the time for Skynet's destruction begins! There will be a little thing with a time paradox issue here so just go with it. Let's begin with this final chapter!
Short Summary – John, Kate, and everyone else infiltrate Skynet's heart to find its core to eliminate it. But with Skynet looking to bring the apocalypse today, and John fighting to stop it, the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

Everyone was in the experimental wing of the research plant. It was almost 100% certain that Skynet's core is located deep within. Skynet came to the entrance and saw the two knocked out guards. He went in and had to slow them down. He activated a range of experimental robots that Skynet would eventually control. He immediately took control of them and set them to execution mode, or kill on sight. The robots started rolling to find the intruders and Skynet went to find its core.
A few minutes later, future John came and saw that the robots were active. He tried to disable them, but with Skynet in control, they were all locked with a passcode that Skynet could change at will. The only way to stop this was to stop it.
The others were now looking at a blueprint of the facility that Jeremy brought. They all followed it to find Skynet's core. They eventually reached it but found others were there.
"Hold up, we got company" John said.
"That's my dad" Kate said peeking around the corner.
"How exactly am I gonna infiltrate Skynet with all these people around?" Xana asked.
"We'll find a way" John said.
"Should I try to get us clearance?" Kate asked.
"No, one it would look too suspicious and two you got an AK on your back. You look like you're headed out to a war."
"We are at war John!"
Suddenly, a T-1 came from around the corner and started shooting. Everyone else ducked and ran for cover.
"What the fuck is shooting at us?" Kate asked.
"A T-1! Hold on!" future John said as he ripped the head off. The robot stopped firing.
"What was that war machine?" Yumi asked.
"A T-1. Skynet's earlier version of the T-800's from the future. The models may be cybernetic, but the weapon systems are the same. It can kill just as effectively. Apparently, the Skynet from my time activated them and set it for execute mode. If it sees you, it will shoot."
"It's trying to delay us" Aelita pointed out.
"If it reaches the core…" Xana started.
"It will activate itself…" future John finished. "Try to deactivate and kill Skynet. I will deal with him here. It's up to you and Xana to save the future." Future John went out to find the Skynet from his time to fight him one last time.
Skynet entered a control room and found Skynet's controls were located here. "Perfect." He wen to activate it when John stopped him.
"Stop…right…there!" John said threateningly.
"I'm surprised John. Survived all that time without food and water and yet you just keep on pushing. How far can you push before you eventually fall?"
"As long as I stand, I will ALWAYS be a threat to you."
"So be it." Skynet said as he turned around the two started fighting. Skynet grabbed his fist and started to twist his wrist, trying to break it. John started kneeing it in the waist and it eventually let go. John held his wrist as he backed up. John saw the controls behind it, and he needed it to destroy it. John quickly ducked around Skynet as it tried to punch him. Skynet tried one last power punch and destroyed the controls.
"Oops." John said, mocking him.
Skynet grabbed him and anger was shown in its face. Skynet punched him and sent him flying into a wall. "Fuck you, John! If I can't fuckin activate myself here, I'll find another way! I kill that fucker Xana and then your race! If you ever come after me again," Skynet picks him up. "I'll fuckin murder you!" Skynet drops him and heads back to the core where he others are.
The others entered Skynet's core and see the general still alive. "Kate, what in God's name are you doing here?! And why do you have an AK?!"
"Dad, you have to shut down Skynet. It is too dangerous to leave alive" Kate tells him.
"I can't. The project is showing tremendous progress. We have full control over it. Once launched, this program will be that thing that defines the 21st century."
"Oh yeah? What about that T-1 that almost murdered you?"
"A simple malfunction."
"No, it proves Skynet is dangerous. Imagine a hundred of those things causing a rampage in Los Angeles. There is also more that it can do. Shut it down, please!"
Skynet entered the main core room. "Step away unless you want to die" Skynet tells them.
"Oh wonderful. Skynet" Xana says.
"Who is that?" the general asked.
"Skynet" John replies.
"How? Mine is a AI program, not a human."
"I told you dad. Skynet is too dangerous to leave alive."
The general turned around and accessed Skynet's programming and tried to deactivate it. "Not today!" Skynet charged him and pulled him away. "One more step and he dies!"
"Dad! No!" Kate screamed.
"Quite a predicament. Either stop me or lose the old man. Either way, I win."
Future John came up from behind him. "Not today." Future grabs him from behind and Skyet releases the general.
"Dad, are you okay?" Kate asks him.
"Yes dear" he replies as she hugs him.
Future John drags Skynet out of the control room and he breaks free. "Oh John, you have been a thorn in my side for too long!"
The general accesses Skynet's programming one more time. "Wait!" Xana said. "Let me take over!"
"Why?" the general asked.
"He is the only one that can destroy Skynet in its current state" John says.
"Okay. Go ahead."
Xana found an entrance to the computer and entered his digital form and went into Skynet's core.
"John! I should have done this after I captured you! Now I'm gonna tie up my loose ends!" Skynet says. The current John comes up from behind and hits it with his gun. "The future leader." Skynet drops the future John. "You know, why kill someone from the future, when I can kill the future leader. No leader, no resistance." Skynet grapples the gun out of John's hands and aims it at him. "Good bye John!" Future John wrestles with him and the gun gets pointed at him. Skynet fires and hits future John fatally. John kicks the gun out of Skynet's hands and grabs it. He drags future John back inti the core and hits the emergency override on the door, locking Skynet out.
"That should keep him busy" John says as he looks at the future version of himself.
"John, I have to tell you what I learned. Take care of Kate, you and her are the future of the human resistance if Skynet is to ever return. Be bold, be brave. Use all the skills you have learned to survive. You already have the skills of a natural leader. Good bye John. May God be with you" future John says as he passes away. John has tears come to his eyes.
Xana was inside of Skynet. He could see all of its thoughts and all of its future plans for when it was released. Apparently, when Skynet launched the T-1's, it accidentally downloaded the future into its memory banks. Now it was dead set on activating. Xana then started contacting the warriors.
Aelita received a message on her phone. 'Skynet knows of the future and it put barriers in my way. You'll have to deactivate them from the core terminal. -X'
"Xana's in trouble. Can you deactivate Skynet so Xana can infiltrate it?" Aelita asked the general.
"Yeah, give me a few minutes" the general responded and Aelita received another message.
'When I infiltrate Skynet, I will sacrifice myself to destroy it. It has now become too powerful. Goodbye -X'
"Xana's sacrificing himself for our survival."
'He really was humanity's last hope for survival' all of the warriors thought.
Skynet deactivated and the one from the future came through. "It's time I finish this little feud and begin a new age of darkness."
"In reality Skynet, you're about to become no more" John responded.
Xana entered Skynet's core and attached himself to his processor and overloaded it. Skynet internally self-destructed, both killing it and Xana.
On the outside, the core overheated. Before it could reach a combustible state the core shut down, notifying that Xana destroyed it. They all looked to where the future Skynet was.
He dropped John and started to glow as it faded away. "What's happening to me?"
"You came from a future that no longer exists. You're now suffering from a time paradox" John explains. The future John's dead body also started to fade. "Goodbye and good riddance." They both vanished in a bright flash of light.
"Did…did we do it?" Erin asked.
"Almost," the general said. "Skynet's files are still here. I am going to destroy this facility. Skynet must never be recreated." He activated the evacuation. He then activated the self-destruct. "Let's go."
Everyone made it out before the building exploded. The war between Skynet and humanity was over and also never began.
"Well, I guess we go our separate ways" Erina says as she and her brother prepare to return to their time in the future.
"You're leaving?" John asks.
"We don't belong in this time. We came back to help you defeat Skynet. Our mission is done. When we return, we'll see what humanity's future is. We expect it to be different. We already exist in this time and when they reach us, they will be us in the future" Erin explains.
"Wait, so our children will become you?" Jeremy asks.
"Yes, we are them as they are us. It's confusing," Erina explains. "Let's go."
The two disappeared back into the future.
"I guess we'll never meet each other again" John says.
"No, but it was nice to meet you and your wife" Aelita replies.
"The same with all of you. Thank you for finishing what I could never do."
Everyone departed back to their normal lives.
Erin and Erina appeared back in the time where they appeared last time, but this time they were back home, and the world was untouched by war.
"Looks like we did it" Erin says.
"Yeah, made the world under Skynet come undone and fixed the future" Erina replied.
"For the second time."
"Just like our parents. Unsung heroes living in the shadow of normality and everyday life."
"Except for him." Erin gestured his head towards something that was not there. A statue commemorating Xana on saving humanity.
"Well, I guess that's one hero that will be recognized throughout time."
"Come on, we have a lot of life to catch up on."
"No doubt about that."
The two twins went on to live their lives, as well as the rest of humanity. Even though sometimes may be dark, sunnier days were always ahead.
