FRISK took a moment to weep on the death of Papyrus before moving on, determined to finish his horrible job. When he awoke from his slumber, he couldn't hold the tears at the sight of the bone dagger. Even when he tried not to kill something, he will eventually be forced to one way or another. FRISK noticed dust under his worn shoes, like he crushed the remaining skull as he intended to do. It made him both cry harder and smile creepily, something between horror and delight.
Something troubled his muddied mind though.
Why did Papyrus call for his "Mama"?
It must have been some death flash or kind of a last minute wish, as many people do see things they regret before die. FRISK would love to see his mother once before he passes away, because she will know how to make it easier for him to let go. Maybe Papyrus felt that way too, seeing the person he loved the most before dying at their hands. As much as that was similar to what FRISK would feel right now, it was ...
"Forgettable."
For the first time, something growled deep down in FRISK, a grave yet feminine voice. FRISK never suspected that horrible thing to be a she, but "her" next words broke him further than he already was.
"I killed my son, again, thanks to you. I hope we can see it through this time, partner."
Now FRISK was certain he had Paps' mother inside him, and she already did it more than once. Probably as CHARA, the one who made him take on this whole bloody ordeal. The idea of a mother killing her own child made him scream inside, wondering how awful he had become to be part of this. He killed Chara's mother with his own hands, and somehow killed that thing's child. FRISK was denying people their families, when he actually needed that more than anything. It sounded like a petty revenge of sorts, one so disgusting FRISK puked by the river whatever food he found back at Snowdin.
"As much as seeing you suffer pleases me, we do not have time to spare. We - No, YOU need to finish what you started, monster."
FRISK wanted to yell his discontent at the voice, but nothing could escape his mouth. He could not speak his mind, it was too fuzzy to find the words he wanted to convey to "her". "She" got impatient and made him move instead, going straight for Waterfall. FRISK could no longer feel his legs when he got to a familiar place.
The luminescent ground he once walked in.
What would normally make FRISK feel at ease had made him feel worse, the place never had the ominous air it carried right now. Everything felt hollow in this once hallowed ground. As if FRISK's presence sullied the place, since every fiber of his being reeked of murder. "She" was not wrong in saying he became a monster, and the choice was his to make.
But again, he swore he would do anything for Chara.
Absolutely anything.
FRISK walked the horribly quiet Waterfall lands, picking up items and then tossing them without much regret. He had taken the Toy Knife and the Bandage prior to killing Toriel, but tossed them somewhere once he realized he never needed a gear in the first place. He was too strong to begin with, and wearing a Toy Knife would only make death more agonizing for monsters that did him no wrong.
Frisk looked around for those speaking flowers, of course he'd forget their real name amidst the chaos swirling in his head. He looked for something to leave for Chara when she passes by, but settled for the one genuine feeling he still had.
"I ... love ... you."
He poured every ounce of strength he had to say those three words, smiling when they got through at last. FRISK then waited eagerly for the nearby flowers to say that back at him, just to make sure Chara would hear them.
But nothing came.
FRISK had gone through waterlily bridges that were already in place, probably because monsters fled thay way. He took down two Aarons easily and striked a Shyren before she let a note slip her lips. Taking his frustration upon monsters, he took down twelve of them in the relatively short walk to the bridge. Every step he took made him depressed, and the area remained silent save for a spear rain he dodged without a problem.
Even his love was denied by this timeline.
But again, why would monsters like him feel love anyway?
Alphys was surprised at the result of her rather risky experiment. The DETERMINATION injection went actually better than expected, given that Undyne's vital data only skyrocketed once or twice. She has been stable for a whole hour now, and shown no particular signs of a mutation of any sort. Her breathing was steady, and so was her pulse, but she hasn't moved a limb for a while.
Alphys moved her tail left and right, hoping to calm herself down as she checked her data all over again to make sure she hasn't missed anything
"35 cc of DT over the course of an hour, channeled through the farthest veins from the body's SOUL cells. SOUL is stable and has absorbed the DT at a moderate pace, adju-"
Alphys stopped for a moment to read the stats part again. That was not the stat adjustment she planned for, not even after carefully calculating the optimum amount of DT she could guess from her many, many attempts at creating Monsters than can hold DETERMINATION.
[UNDYNE - ATK 30 - DEF 10 ; WEAKENED]
Is Undyne gonna be alright? That's a big drop on her ATK and DEF overall, and she was not the type to go easy on the weak, not even for herself.
Alphys decided to save that part for later, as Undyne shown signs of waking up ... or so Alphys thought. For a second, Undyne pupils were much darker, and her left eye let a light spread out on the tank next to her. Before Alphys could even comprehend what happened, Undyne passed out again.
Picking up the phone, Alphys had King Asgore on the line, as she rummaged through her notes to explain what happened with Undyne
"So ... is Undyne safe then, Alphys"
"Y-yes, King Asgore, s-she stable for now and will w-wake up soon to stop the human on his tracks!"
"Thank you, Alphys, I knew I could count on you"
As soon as Alphys hung up, she reviewed her evacuation plans, then plopped on the floor when she heard a crash and a "NGAAAAAAAAAAH" coming from where Undyne was being "treated".
"Alphys ! Why do I feel so WEAK ! I can't even properly move after all that time !"
"You're ... you're still adjusting to all that DETERMINATION I gave you, and it's amazing how you did not collapse from all of that"
"I am the Captain of the Royal Guard, and I shall not falter as such !"
"G-good, prepare for the next part, you h-have to slow down the human, t-they already ..."
They've already killed enough monsters to progress to the bridge, but somehow hung around the Lily bridges area. Alphys could see a single Monster around, and none spawned in the immediate vicinity. An eerie silence was troubled by the human's steps, who followed a cowardly Woshua. The poor monster saw a dirty human and wanted to clean them, but got wiped out in mere seconds.
Seeing how Alphys was stressfully waving her tail at the screen, Undyne donned her armor as fast as she could, cursed her actual state of weakness under her breath and went out running throughout hotland, with a tank of water Alphys managed to prepare in that shortwhile Fishface was unconscious. As soon as Undyne left with her getup and somehow managed to arrive in Waterfall without passing out, Alphys observed the human once again.
Why were they stopping at every Echo Flower on the way? Why did they bother reading the inscription on the walls? Why did they stroll around this area ... as if they enjoyed themselves while being busy killing monsters for no particular reason.
"Frisk"
"Mh?" Frisk let that out while munching his Burger, counting on Chara to stay corporeal for a while
"How come your body and SOUL are separated that way?"
Frisk shrugged, he couldn't even get how he managed to know Chara when they were a ghost, let along how this whole SOUL mechanic worked.
Chara has been in that familiar Snowdin Inn room for too long, she wanted to purse FRISK and stop him, but her ghastly half always told her to never approach his now possessed body.
"Give me one good reason not to stop that thing ! ONE GOOD REASON !"
Frisk meekly looked at Chara as she yelled, but soon recovered his standard poker face.
"Is ... there a point in stopping me from repairing your SOUL?"
"Is there a point in all the mindless killing we let happen right now?"
Both fell silent for a moment, neither of them made sense of what they should actually do. Frisk had no explanation as of why he should reform Chara's SOUL that way, unless ...
"ssup kids, had enough lovey-dovey time?"
Sans quickly dodged a knife as soon as he teleported back to that same room, shrugging while giving a wink to Frisk, who almost choke on his fries.
"Sans, why are you not intervening? You literally were mourning your brother moments ago, and even got drunk at Grillby's !"
"am just good that, sitting back, doing nothing, watching things unfold ... is part of the game"
"A ... game?"
Chara quickly went for Sans's collar to get a grip and yell at his face, as Frisk panicked and threw what's left of his food to stop her from potentially harming Sans
"Chara ~ He has only 1 HP ! "
When Chara felt her grip was actually harming Bonehead's SOUL, she quickly let Sans loose. Frisk cuddled Chara from behind, instinctively, making her blush.
"F-F-Frisk, not in front of him !"
"heh, perhaps i should go ahead and check on alphys and the gang ... you too enjoy your t-"
"No Sans ..."
"Frisky?"
"whaddup kiddo, got an idea?"
Frisk held on Chara's shirt as he buried his head on it, as if he did not want to be seen, he cried for a wee bit, then spoke again.
"I just want you to kill me when you have the chance to do it ..."
"kiddo, i-"
"Do it, Bonehead, he cannot be responsible for things I did before with that ... abomination I had inside."
"problem is ... killing him would require killing you, you got his SOUL, he got yours as we speak"
"Shouldn't you just k-"
"NO"
Sans and Chara were both taken aback by how loud Frisk denied that possibility. He was never that serious before, or was he ...?
The room felt silent for a mere minute, but it stretched out like a whole hour, and neither present in that room dared move or speak.
"gotta figure something out on the way then, we should go and check on the others before the evac' is completed"
Sans wanted to find a pun in this situation, but refrained from doing so this once. Chara simply nodded and looked back at Frisk, who went back at being a ghost. All three of them departed from the desolated Snowdin.
