Side Chapter: How did we end up like this?
Felix was having a bad day.
But this was nothing new. In fact, this had become normal for him and the entire Crusch camp.
In fact, the mood of almost the entire Kingdom of Lugnica was the same.
As Felix walked through the dark prison corridors, he thought about how they had become like this.
Whaling, which took place after the beginning of the royal election. It was really a great success. Ram, the maid of the Emilia camp, had secured a three-way alliance with the Anastasia and Crusch camps using the metia she had received from her master. Thanks to this, they easily defeated the White Whale and the archbishop of Sloth.
But their triumphant happiness did not last long. Returning to the capital, the group, including Crusch, was attacked by two archbishops of sin.
Regulus Corneas, archbishop of Greed. And the archbishop of Gluttony is Lye Batenkaitos. Never had a chance. They were all easily defeated. And part of it was literally erased.
One of them was Crusch. His memory was completely erased. No matter how hard Felix tried, he couldn't do anything. The best healer of the kingdom and even this Earth was useless. Felix clenched his teeth at the thought. Weakness, he hated it.
And things kept getting worse. A year later, in Priestella, when all the candidates were at the meeting, the archbishops of sin attacked.
It was a tough battle. There was so much chaos that he still didn't fully grasp the events that were happening there. But thanks to the plans and the inexorable power of the great Spirit Beatrice-sama, the result was an incredible victory. The Archbishop of Anger had been taken prisoner, and the Archbishop of Greed had been killed.
But the damage was also incredible. A lot of innocents were transformed into huge insects. The archbishop of gluttony ate the name of the bearless one. One of them included someone who claimed to be Anastasia's knight. He said his name was Julius and explained his situation. He was a pretty strong guy. Thanks to the skills he showed and the information he gave, the accuracy of what he said was confirmed.
And it's the worst... Many innocents were infected with laner black dragon blood. One of them was his Wife. Once again, there was nothing Felix could do when his wife was in severe pain. Once more it was useless.
But hopes were not yet exhausted. A few days after this incident, the archbishop of the Pride was captured by the camp of Emilia. His plan, I think, was to pretend to be one of the victims of gluttony.
At first, this plan sounded stupid. But in the first two months Felix spent with that archbishop, it made perfect sense. This guy was definitely acting very well. He was weak, but his mood was very high. The reason he didn't have a contracted Spirit with him at the time was most likely to support his claim that he was a victim of gluttony. He was also very smart. Felix was saying yesterday that he was definitely the strategist of the witch cult.
But fortunately his plan was realized thanks to the great spirit Beatrice. The witch smell had given her away. According to the great Spirit, there was even more witch smell than an archbishop. Naturally, he was quickly caught.
No one questioned this decision. Because no one could think that Beatrice, the great spirit, Priestella's heroine, was wrong. She couldn't be wrong anyway.
Felix was overjoyed when he heard about this captured new archbishop. It was impossible to get the other captured archbishop to speak. The authority of anger was canceling out any possibility of torture. It was as if he was doing to himself what he was doing to that crazy woman.
At last there was a prospect of saving his lady. Some hope had sprung up in Felix's heart. And Felix clung to that hope with all he had left.
As a result, the interrogation of the archbishop of Pride began. Felix and Julius voluntarily participated in this interrogation. After all, they both had a lot of needs to answer. Felix's susceptibility to water can be used to cause great pain to people in my state of touch.
Normally, this was one of the greatest tortures that could be inflicted on a person. But he couldn't get almost any information from that damn guy. For some reason, the slave collar was also useless. In fact, the interrogation was doing more harm than good.
According to him, that man was a completely incomprehensible madman.
It was like he had a personality disorder. When he first came, he looked like a poor man who was constantly crying and begging, telling ridiculous lies.
But a few weeks later, he suddenly changed completely. The change was so sudden that all the guards were surprised. It was at that moment that Felix seemed to see the true archbishop of Pride.
He's a manipulative monster.
It's like all his speeches, all his movements... It was as if it was completely calculated. It was as if he was saying exactly what he needed to say to the people in front of him at exactly the time he needed to say it.
The psychology of almost all the guards was broken. The archbishop of Pride seemed to tear the minds of everyone, including Felix.
Just by talking, he got some of the guards to quit. He made some of the guards mentally unstable. He made some of the guards hostile to their own country. And he drew some of the guards to his side. (Of course, most of the traitors who switched sides were quickly executed.)
He even scared a guard so much that the guard committed suicide.
Fortunately, Felix was not impressed by these lies. Her ladyship was paramount.
But the will of that knight named Julius was not so strong. Since he couldn't handle more, he started coming to the interrogations.
Felix could not blame her. If it wasn't for the betting lady, he wouldn't have been able to stand it either. Sometimes it seemed that he would be in doubt. But of course he crushed and destroyed this train of thought. He would never fall for Pride's lies.
The bad events didn't stop there. The guards who Decommissioned the job had started spreading rumors among the people. They were saying that Pride was actually very dangerous and intelligent, that he was hiding his power, that he had been caught on purpose, and that he would soon launch a plan that would bring about the end of the country.
You can handle the panic that this creates. Moreover, a small radical group argued that the archbishop of Pride was actually a good person. According to them, the Kingdom was blaming an innocent victim of gluttony to change the bad course of their reputation. There were two reasons why they believed this.
The first of the reasons was the guards, whom the archbishop deceived directly. Some of these guards were quite reliable people in public Decency. Their hatred of the witch cult was known. That's why no one would believe that they would defend a sectarian.
The second reason was the extreme deterioration of the reputation of the council of Sages and the candidates for the throne. Everything bad was overlapping.
The sudden disappearance of Priscilla, the candidate for the throne, and their entire camp.
The other candidate for the throne, Anastasia, was left semi-paralyzed due to a strange illness caused by a faulty door.
Disintegration of the empire of Vollachia. And the possibility of a World war as a result of the other three nations coveting the fragmented lands. The willingness of some sages to fight for more power and land.
The most powerful wizard in the kingdom suddenly stopped reacting one day. And the fact that he remains in a coma-like state in a wheelchair.
The public leak of information that Crusch has lost his memory. and the reduction of Crusch to a useless patient due to the cursed dragon blood.
The Sword Saint is of no use while this is happening. For some reason, he was always late.
The absolute failure of the expedition to the tower of the wise to learn to reverse the influence of the authorities of gluttony and lust.
Felix was sad when he remembered this. Ricardo and Mimi were killed by the shrines in the desert during this expedition. Emilia's loyal knight Garfiel had also lost his left arm. And without Beatrice-sama's magic, literally almost everyone would have died. It was definitely a disaster.
The fact that Emilia, known as a folk hero, did not achieve anything after the events in Priestella, also did not help much. Many people theorized that Roswaal was the real brain in the camp and that all the successes were thanks to him.
Some fools have tried to point this out as evidence that the Proud archbishop is telling the truth. Is completely ridiculous.
All of this had destroyed the reputation of the Kingdom. A riot was officially at the door. In fact, the only reason there hasn't been a rebellion so far is because of the fear of the sword saint and the trust in Felt. That's why the kingdom uses such a lie to deceive the public and keep it under control. it was nothing short of incredible.
Of course, these were not the only reasons for those who joined this radical group. Some of them were people who wanted to join the witch cult but could not join. Some of them were from criminal organizations that wanted to shake the authority of the government. In particular, one of these organizations, "The Libra", was working quite actively. Since "The Libra" controlled illegal gambling in Lugnica, there were not many money problems.
There are also suspicions that this peculiar radical group is secretly supported by the Kararagi and Gusteko governments. Especially because of the current political situation.
In short, as a result of all these absurdities and disasters, the danger posed by this small radical group has grown. And one turned from a simple injury into an inflammation.
And the council of Sages was afraid that this group would turn into a cancer, like a witch cult. That is why the decision to execute the archbishop
Felix would certainly never have guessed that an archbishop would be upset by the execution decision. But he had to admit that that damned archbishop was their only chance of saving Lady Crusch.
Therefore, the entire Crusch camp, together with its supporters, put pressure on the kingdom to reverse this decision.
The kingdom couldn't handle the Karsten family's rebellion after all. As a result, the decision was postponed for 1-2 months.
Felix had finally arrived in front of the cell door he was looking for. With a signal to the guards, he ordered the opening of the magical seals on the door.
This was Felix's last chance. He steeled himself. And putting the most annoying smile on his face, he entered the cell through the opened door.
This time he was not going to fail. He was going to use everything he had and get the information her ladyship needed. This was now a personal matter. No, it was always a personal matter.
He would have crushed the archbishop's pride.
For her ladyship.
Author's Note: The starting point of the "Forgotten" fiction is interesting in terms of its subject. But there are almost always a few things that bother me in these stories. The two most basic are these.
Beatrice. Beatrice is shown to be very weak. The only people who can rival Beatrice's knowledge of magic are Rowaal and Echidna. Since Beatrice has a Yin predisposition, it is easy for her to manipulate space-time. Since she is a great spirit, she is partially invincible in magic efficiency in theory. the only weakness is the Lack of Mana. That is why in Canon Beatrice was weak. Subaru has very little Mana.
But now Beatrice's Contractor is Emilia. Emilia is the person with the most Mana in the canon.
Can you imagine how strong Beatrice is right now? Rest assured, it will be one of Subaru's biggest enemies in the first arc.
the expedition to the tower of the sage. It is impossible for this expedition to be successful without Subaru.
Since there is no Subaru in this story, the whole Decampment has lost the plot armor. Without Beatrice's power, they would have perished. Don't worry. I will explain in a chapter how they crossed the illusion barrier.
We will also see Political maneuvers in this story. If I can write, of course...
I especially want to turn to Gusteko. It is very ignored both in canon and in Fanfics. I think it's a country with a lot of potential.
In addition, there is an organization called "The Libra" in canon. They follow the witch of pride and are responsible for gambling. One of the three major criminal organizations in Lugnica.
Now... Subaru's conversations with the guards seem to be a bit of an exaggeration. But it's definitely not an exaggeration.
It's very scary to question Subaru. The Subaru you see today may not be the same as the Subaru of tomorrow. This is the first time you've seen him. He sees you maybe for the thousandth time.
He can find the easiest way to manipulate you.
Of course... Subaru used quite a lot of different types of manipulations to get rid of in this story. But some of them are not in this last timeline. For example, several times Emilia tried to escape by revealing the secrets of her camp and the bunker, and the whole kingdom was plunged into chaos. But because this timeline has been reset, we are not seeing the effects of this.
Anyway, thank you for reading. I don't know when I'm going to cast the next chapter. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe in 1 year. Don't wait for me.
