Chara was back to nurse Frisk once more, although it was much safer this time than when they were in the Ruins. She has not fully recovered from her dark transformation, and she had that feeling of vomiting every time she saw Frisk. Twice now, she killed the child, forcing them to RESET. She knew those were not infinite, as she had experienced that with the other children here. She never learned their names, so she used their SOUL colors for convenience. Patience was a girl with a red Ribbon on her blond hair, and a Toy Knife in her hand. She was boyish and ranted a lot about acting properly with Monsters. Yet, she never used her knife and always went the "hard way" to "fight" monsters. Her body was covered in bandages as a result, but Chara lost interest in her when she went past the Ruins.
Frisk woke up in the same room he was in, memories of kisses, hugs, and hands held mixed up with those of the killings. Thrice he was brought back to Asriel and about as much to live. Now they held a cross from across their shoulders to down their hips, as if they were marked by the twisted twin their companion carried. They noticed the door was left open, so They crawled back to the living room and found Chara sitting down and reading what seemed to be a cooking book.
"Frisk? Back to your Room, Mother will not come back so I have to prepare something in her stead"
"Is she alive?" Chara knew they would not go through their death, but inquired if they saved someone. She smiled genuinely for once :
"Yes Mother is very much alive and ... she could not see you leave so she left the house today."
"I wanted to say goodbye but ... it's not good huh?"
"Yes, now sit on that Sofa while I figure out what to eat today."
"Yes ma'am."Chara stopped reading the book, turned to watch Frisk, and laughed so hard she could not stop. Frisk smiled but was immediately met with a deadly glare.
"Child, that too is not allowed. I am not as old as my Mother to be called Ma'am. You do know the difference, don't you?
"Nope, never knew what you were, except at bedtime, when I noticed those, but I lost the -"
"Wait ... what? Pervert, you little pervy boy ... Oh wait you're a boy !" Chara resumed laughing harder at the discovery, Frisk was a he, and "he" was too cute to be called so, too
"Um, I feel you are making fun of me right now, are you perhaps a -"
"Girl, not a Ma'am yet, Sir Frisk"
"That is an adult label and I hate adults, they can be parents."
"Hmph, a boy then. Well, it does not matter in the Underground, but it makes me happy to know more about you." Chara smiled sheepishly at a cautious Frisk. He sure knew he was in trouble if he had gone into another argument, they could get angry and ... No, that was wrong, only their twisted self did that. The Chara they got attached to somehow was never a killer.
"Frisk!"
"Y-Yes Chara?"
"For the third time, will it be cinnamon or butterscotch."
"What about chocolate?" Frisk only wanted to chase those thoughts that gnawed at him so badly that they made him feel weak.
"Oh ... that would be a waste but will do. Please rest while I work on something edible."
Chara stirred up the preparation while Frisk opted for a nap, seemingly tired from dragging himself downstairs. The sofa Toriel used felt like a king-size bed to him, this he slept comfortably. He heard dishes shatter and did his best to go to the kitchen. He found an angry Chara, but she was also ready to collapse.
"Idiot."
"What?"
"You idiot! I killed you, and you first ask whether you could save Mother?"
"I wanted to save her from that twisted person that took over you, yes."
"You know it is me and not anybody else who killed those monsters, killed you, and was about to kill Mother?"
... it is not you, I know they - whatever they are - are only craving to kill, you don't ..."
"..."
"And I'm okay taking hits for you, it hurts a lot and it is scary and it makes me feel sick when that takes over you, but it isn't you Chara ... you are better than that."
Chara blushed for absolutely no reason, remained silent, and went back to get that cake done. Frisk thought they should leave them alone and went back to the bed, bumping their head on the way. Chara finally readied a Chococake with some cinnamon tea and brought some to Frisk after she ate her share. She never spoke a word since then, until it was time to sleep. She found him already fast asleep and went for another kiss on the cheeks. He smiled for no reason, and so she did, blushing - as much as she hated that.
The next day, Frisk woke up to an empty house and a little note Chara wrote. She was gone ahead of him to Snowdin, to pave the way she said. He knew somehow she could not bear to accompany someone she already killed twice. He too departed from Toriel's house while taking some extra clothes, worried about his girl companion.
